Chapter 16: ER Visit

           "Home Goods, again." Mitchell groaned.
"Hey, it's not my fault Antoni and your sister want me to remodel the kitchen." Bobby said. "If it were my choice, I'd be getting new lights."
"Which is still happening." Tan said. "Cara! Hold my hand, lovey."
Cara grinned. "Kay, Daddy."
"I'll never get tired of that!" Tan squealed.
Bobby shook his head, smiling. "Okay, Mitch, it's you and me, let's get this done as soon as possible."
"You don't have to tell me that twice." Mitchell said.

Bobby and Mitchell ran around the store, getting things for the kitchen remodel, and they had been working pretty fast, but then Bobby started looking at countertops.
"Bobby, I'm gonna look around!" Mitchell called.
"Okay, I'll be here!" Bobby replied, giving the younger boy a thumbs-up.
Mitchell skipped over to where some arts and crafts stuff was.
'So pretty.' He thought, looking at a Mandela coloring book.
Mitchell was unlike his sisters. They were sporty, kinda loud (except for Sarah), and they both liked excitement.
It wasn't that Mitchell didn't like those things, it was just that he liked to be more calm, quiet, and still have fun that way.
Mitchell looked down at some pens, seeing all the different pastels, glitter, and matte colors.
Art was his thing, even though some of the boys at school teased him for it.
Mitchell was about to pick the book and pens up, when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey, Mitch!"
"Spencer!" Mitchell gasped. "Hey."
Spencer grinned at him. "What's up?"
"Uh, not much." Mitchell said, his palms sweating. "What're you doing here?"
"Oh, my dad needed to get some stuff for fixing the kitchen table." Spencer said. "I was looking around...whatcha got there?"
Mitchell couldn't handle it. "I...I gotta go!"
"Mitch?"
Mitchell ran out of the aisle, a woman's cart crashing into him.
  "Mitch!" Spencer exclaimed.
"I'm okay." Mitchell said, standing up. "OWWWWW!"
"What hurts?" Spencer asked.
"My ankle."
"Oh gosh, I think you twisted it." Spencer said.
"Mitchy!" Cara shouted, Tan and Bobby close behind.
"Are you alright?" Tan asked.
Mitchell nodded, trying not to cry.
"Okay, we're taking you to the ER." Bobby said. "You're lucky I just got done getting my stuff in the car."
Mitchell nodded again, as he was helped into the car. "My ankle hurts so bad!"
"I know, just hold on for me." Bobby said, turning the car on, speeding to the ER.

------------

Mitchell watched as a nurse put his ankle in a cast. He had broken it, really broken it.
"Just wear that for a month or two." The nurse said.
"Yes ma'am." Mitchell said, limping out of the room.
"I'm sorry that happened, Mitch." Tan said.
"It's fine." Mitchell said. "I just wanna go home."

When they got home, there was a surprise waiting in Mitchell's room.
"Spencer?"
Spencer looked up, smiling. "Hey, I'm really sorry about your...wow! You really banged it!"
Mitchell nodded. "I broke it."
"Jeez."
"Yeah."
"Anyway, I wanted to give this to you, since, you know, I scared you." Spencer said, pulling a bag out from behind his back.
"You didn't have to." Mitchell said, blushing.
"But I wanted to." Spencer said. "Open it!"
Mitchell giggled a little, opening the bag. "Ohmygosh, Spencer!"
The Mandela book and pens lay in the bag. Mitchell's eyes were wide, staring at Spencer.
"Are they the right ones? I don't know, I didn't get a good look, you can..." Spencer was saying, but stopped when Mitchell hugged him.
"Thanks so much." Mitchell said, breaking out of the hug.
"Mitch?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you run off?"
"I...um...I wasn't expecting you to be...um...right behind me...?"
Spencer put his fingers under Mitchell's chin, lifting it up slightly. "Please don't lie to me, we're friends."
Mitchell sighed. "I like you, Spence, I like you way more than just a friend."
"Huh?"
"I have a crush on you."
"Wow, really?"
"I'm sorry." Mitchell said. "You probably won't wanna be friends with me anymore."
"Why would I want that?" Spencer asked.
"I don't know, cause I'm weird, and...and you probably want a girl-" Mitchell began, but suddenly felt Spencer's lips on his.
Mitchell tried to break away from the kiss well, but he fell off the bed instead.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" Spencer laughed.
Mitchell was a blushing, laughing mess. "Yeah, I'm fine!"
Spencer helped him up. "Is your ankle okay?"
"Mhm." Mitchell said, as Spencer fixed his hair for him. "Thanks."
"Anytime." Spencer said. "And about the whole girl thing, I don't like them."
"Same." Mitchell said.
"Girls are great and everything, but I like other boys so much better!" Spencer said.
"I know right." Mitchell said. "Will you..."
"Will I what?"
"Kiss me again?"
Spencer smiled, gently pressing his lips against Mitchell's.
Mitchell kissed him back, holding hands with his friend.
"Hey, Mitchell, do you want ice for your...." Karamo began, but quickly left the room.
"Does he want ice?" Antoni asked.
"He's a little too busy." Karamo said.
"What's he doing?" Sarah asked.
"He and Spencer are kissing." Karamo replied.
Sarah and Antoni's jaws dropped. "What!?"
"Shhh!"
"Sorry."
"Just leave 'em alone." Karamo said.
Jonathan walked by Mitchell's door, poking his head in. "Yas, gurl, get it, henny!"
"JONATHAN!" Came Mitchell and Spencer's yell.
Jonathan laughed. "That was so hot!"
Sarah shook her head. "This is what it's like living with Jonathan Van Ness, ladies and gentlemen. No privacy."
