Adoption
Sqaishey's POV
I swear, I'm going to use a bucket next time I fetch the post.
Our post box was absolutely stuffed with mail. Most of them were fan mail, but there WERE some bills and all that.
As I returned home, with two full armfuls of letters, Stampy began chuckling. Then, he bumped into me accidentally-on-purposely.
"Agh!" I tumbled, and when I was able to sit up, I found myself in a letter pool.
"Stampylongnose!" I wailed. I grabbed a random flyer to smack him, but a word on it caught my eye.
Adoption.
I began reading it.
Every day, innocent children are abandoned for no reasons. They are neglected, unloved.
Join our cause. Adopt a child. Change a little life. Make a difference.
St Joseph's Orphanage.
I looked at it. There were loads of pictures of children. Most of them were sad. Some were crying. I felt like crying myself, it was so sad.
But then, I had an idea.
"Sqaishey?" Stampy held up a hand and helped me up. "Come on, let's play Sky Den."
Le Time Skip
That night, as we ate dinner, I said, "Stampy, remember when you said you wanted kids..." He looked up and brushed a bunch of curls off his face. "Yeah. Are you up to it... tonight?" His eyes slid sideways, slightly embarrassed.
I smiled nervously. "I think I have a better idea." I pulled out the orphanage flyer. Clearing my throat, I announced, "I want to adopt a child."
He almost spit his steak out. "What?! Why?!" "They seem so lonely, Stampy. Look!" I showed him the flyer. "I want to change a life. I want to make a difference." Stampy laughed incredulously. "You're not going to adopt because of a... a flyer, would you?"
"Please, Stampy. I want to change a person's life. I don't want them to be... parentless." Stampy met my eye and his gaze softened. "You were always kind-hearted, Sqaishey. Are you sure you want this?"
"Yeah!" I nodded.
"Okay, then. I'll arrange a meeting next weekend."
We're going to adopt a child!
