Three days later
Jessica's POV
I woke up early one morning. I felt a bit dizzy. I heard my phone buzz. It was a text from Ryan. I answered it. All it had was a blank space. Then I got ready for school. I headed downstairs. Mom and dad were talking about something. "I think that's a great idea." Dad said. I cleared my throat. They looked up at me. I grabbed some cereal and ate. Soon Ross came downstairs. Mom drove us to school. When I got out, I saw Kayla. She ran to me, followed by her brother. "Why did you text me this morning?" I asked. Ryan blushed. "I didn't realize that I did." He said. Then he ran off. I shrugged and headed inside. Emma glared at me. I ignored her and opened my locker. I saw a note. I opened it. Ryan was asking me to meet him later. I saw him two lockers away. I'll be there. I mouthed. He nodded and left.
Ryan's POV
Jess had no idea what I wanted to do. We haven't known each other that long but I feel something. I was going to ask her out. I had already talked to her dad while she was in the hospital. I also got the okay from her brother, who is very protective of her. The bell rang for school to start.
After school was over, I ran up to her. "Hey Jess. Can we talk?" I asked. She turned to her brother. "Tell mom and dad to wait for me. I just need to get something." She said. Then she turned to me. I pulled her away from the others. "Texting you was a mistake. I was super nervous and ended up sending you a blank text." I began. "What were you nervous about?" She asked. "I like you, Jessica." I said. "Listen, Ryan.." She began. Before she could continue, I smashed my lips to hers. She pulled back. "I'm sorry. I have to go." She said. "Jessica wait." I said. "Ryan. I like you too but you scared me with the kiss." She said. "If you agree to be my girlfriend, I'll pretend the kiss never even happened." I said. "Deal." Jessica said. She grabbed her stuff and hugged me. "I love you." She said in my ear. After she left, I stood there. "Oh Jessica. I love you too."
