Jessica's POV
I woke up early the next morning. Today was my first day of school. I quickly showered and got dressed in my favorite outfit. Jen knocked on my bedroom door. I opened the door and we went downstairs. Pat handed me a plate of chocolate chip pancakes. "Pat bought at least five bags of chocolate chips at the store so we made cookies. I added a few in your lunch. "Now I'm hungry." I said. "Then eat up so you can get to school." Pat said. I ate breakfast and brushed my teeth. Jen drove me to school. I grabbed my backpack from the front seat. As I was walking away, I saw someone punching someone else . "Leave her alone." I said. The girl looked at me. She went for me but I dodged the attack and the girl accidentally punched the principal in the face. "My office. Now." She said. She dragged the girl off the playground and they went inside. I helped the other girl up. "Thanks for having my back." She said. "Not a problem." I said. "My name's Kayla." She said. "I'm Jessica." I said.
We headed inside and went to class. When the bell rang for lunch, I headed with the others. I got my lunch bag from my locker. In the cafeteria, I didn't know what to do. Kayla came over to me. "Wanna sit with me and my friends?" She asked. "Sure." I said. We both sat down at a table. Soon a girl showed up and sat down. "Where's your boyfriend?" Kayla asked her. "He'll be here soon." The girl said. Soon a boy showed up and sat down next to her. He was followed by another boy. I opened my lunch and began eating. I pulled out my cookies. The kids looked at me. "Want one?" I asked Kayla. "Sure." She said. I handed her one. "Oh. Jessica this is Katie, Mike and Ryan." Kayla said. "Hi." I said. "Why did you move?" Katie asked. I looked down. "I lived in an orphanage. I just got adopted." I said. "I had no idea." Kayla said. "It's fine." I said. Soon the bell rang and we had to go to class.
After school, I waited for Pat to pick me up. Kayla came over to me along with Ryan. Pat came and I left. My first day of school was good.
