I decided not to tell Sean. I couldn't. I would be sent back to the orphange, or maybe a psychiatric ward. I couldn't lose the only family I have now, and I certainly couldn't be sent to the psychiatric ward.

"I'm really sorry for scaring you, Jaycee. It was supposed to be a lighthearted prank." Sean laughed. I smiled and waved it off, dismissing it as nothing.
"I know you meant nothing by it, all fun and games." I sighed, looking out of the dusty window. A few horses passed by it, grazing lazily in the meadow.

"You're really smart for your age Jaycee." Sean stated, pulling into the driveway. "Which reminds me, I already signed you up for public school." He smiled, watching me intently for a reaction. I smiled back and opened the car door.

When Sean opened the door, I immediately rushed up stairs, telling him that I was tired. I walked into the bathroom, locked the door, and looked in the mirror.

I covered my right eye- the pale blue one- and watched in amazement. There she was, standing right in front of me. She placed a hand on my shoulder, leaned over, and kissed my cheek.

Tears trickled down my face as I smiled and looked at the ground. "I love you Jaycee. Don't ever think I don't. And please don't ever forget me, okay?" She pleaded. I nodded and looked back up to the mirror, uncovering my eye.

"I'll never forget you, mother."
