The last few hours passed in a blur of agony, and sorrow. My head was beating like a drum, and I could hardly see anything. I curled up in the back of Sean's car, one of his hands on my shoulder. "It's alright Jaycee, you'll be okay. I'm right here." He reassured me. My stomach coiled like a snake, ready to lurch forward at any moment. What a way to have your first day with a family, huh?

I sat stiffly on the doctor's table, staring at the utensils that could scar even an adult with the wrong twist or turn. The doctor shined a light in my eyes, making an odd noise. "So, what exactly happened, Sean?" He asked, flicking the light off and turning to Sean. He looked down the floor, then matched the icy glare of the doctor. "I scared her, which was a bad idea in itself, and she told me that she had a massive headache. Then she just screamed." Sean buried his face in his hands. The doctor nodded and turned to me. "Why did you scream, Jaycee?" I let out a sigh. How do you explain what happened? "My vision went blurry. A lot of the time when I have headaches, my vision will go a little blurry, but never like this." But it was much more than that. One minute I couldn't see anything, the other I saw everything. I saw shadows, spirits; I saw dead people. I saw my dead family. My headaches weren't the result of this, were they?
"Alright," The doctor grabbed a clipboard and wrote something down, "this sounds like maybe you're having vision problems. I would recommend going to the optometrist and having her eyes checked." He handed Sean a slip of paper and stood. He left the room, leaving the door wide open, which bothered me a bit. Sean looked at me and raised his brows. "Jaycee, have you always had a single green eye?" I scrambled to find a mirror, checking around. Once I found one and looked in it, I was shocked. One of my eyes was neon green, while the other was blue. I pulled away from the mirror and covered my green eye, everything remaining normal. But when I covered my blue eye, all I saw was ghosts, chanting "you're not crazy".
