chapter four
Dan's POV
I arrived at the school and saw Summer. She waved at a girl and ran over to me. "Hey Summer." I said. She got in the front seat. "How was your first day?" I asked. "Good." Summer said. When we got home, Summer put her stuff upstairs. "I'd like you to do your homework after supper." I said. "Okay Dan." Summer said.
Jemma's POV
I was downstairs watching friends in the living room. Darcie was on my lap. "Hey Jem. Hey Darcie." Dan said from behind me. I looked up at Dan. "Summer upstairs?" I asked him. "Yeah. I'm pretty sure." Dan said. We heard feet running down the stairs. Summer came in the living room. Darcie ran to her. Ellie decided to chase after her sister. "Hey Darcie. Hey Ellie." Summer said, petting them. "They seem to like you." Dan said. Summer went upstairs. I was getting a little curious about what she's been up to in her room but I didn't want to feel like I was pushing her to tell me the truth. She'll probably tell me soon though. I just have to be patient. "Earth to Jemma." Dan said. I shook my head to clear my thoughts. "Sorry Dan." I said. I lowered my voice. "It's just. Summer seems to be acting strange. I mean what is she doing in her room?"
Dan thought about this for a moment. "I'm not sure. But we can't force her to tell us right now. She's probably trying to get used to being our kid. We need to let her know that she can trust us." He said. "You're right Dan. We shouldn't force her to talk." I said. I filled Darcie and Ellie's bowls and set them down. We sat down on the couch. Pretty soon I heard a crash from upstairs. Dan and I both ran upstairs. I stopped short. Summer was on the floor and she was knocked out.
