chapter four
This chapter is a bit longer and has a sad part in it. It's basically Lexi telling Jordan the story of her parents' death. Don't read it if it brings back memories.
Lexi's POV
I woke up early the next morning. Today was my first day of school. I quickly showered and got dressed in my favorite outfit. Jordan knocked on my bedroom door. I opened the door. "You look awesome." Jordan said. "Thanks." I said. "You hungry?" He asked. "Yeah." I said. "Then come on." Jordan said. I followed him to the kitchen. He handed me a plate of pancakes. I ate them and brushed my teeth. Then I pulled my hair into a ponytail and grabbed my lunch bag. I stuffed it in my backpack. Jordan dropped me off at the school. I grabbed my backpack and put it on. I was looking for the main office when I collided with a girl. "I'm so sorry. Today's just my first day." I said. I quickly picked up my stuff. The girl stood up and pulled on my ponytail. I winced in pain. "Leave her alone." A voice said. The girl left after pushing me to the ground. Another girl ran over and helped me up. "You're new here. Aren't you?" She asked. "Yeah. My name's Lexi." I said. The girl studied me. "Wait a sec. You're captainsparklez's daughter." She said. "Yeah. I am." I said, blushing. "He's my idol. You are so lucky to have a youtube star adopt you." She said. Then she slapped her forehead. "Silly me. I forgot to introduce myself. My name's Aria. But you can call me Ari." She said. Another girl, this one with blonde hair, came over. "Ari. We're going to be late to math." She said. Then she looked at me. "Who's she?" She asked. "This is Lexi. Remember that video on captainsparklez's channel? That's his daughter." Ari said. "Oh. I remember now." The girl said. "Introduce yourself, idiot." Ari hissed. "Oh. Sorry. My name is Anna. Ari is my adopted sister." She said. "Hi." I said, shyly. "Where's the main office?" I finally asked. "We'll show you." Ari said. I followed the girls. We just got there when the bell rang. I got my class schedule. "Math first." I said. The secretary handed us three late passes. "You're late to class. With these you won't be in trouble." Ari explained. We headed to math. We handed over the late passes. The teacher nodded. "Anna. You and Ari sit down. Lexi, we need to introduce you to the class." She said. She finished writing some problems. "Class. We have a new student. This is Lexi." She said. "Hi." I said. "Tell us about yourself." The teacher said. "I-i just got adopted. T-this was the closest school." I stammered. "Who adopted you?" One girl asked. "J-jordan Maron. Y-you know. C-captainsparklez." I said. I was blushing like an idiot and I kept talking like I was freezing. Finally the teacher spoke. "Thank you miss Maron. Have a seat." She said. I refused to looka at anyone for the whole day. When school ended for the day, I felt humiliated. I went outside to wait. After ten minutes, Jordan still wasn't here. I started to panic.
Soon Jordan pulled up. By that time, I was ready to start crying. A few tears fell. "Where were you?" I asked. Jordan noticed my tears. "I'm sorry. I was trying to set up my stuff. I was going to record when I saw the time." Jordan saif. I was still crying. I got in the car and we headed home.
When we got home, Jordan knelt down to me. "I was only fifteen minutes late. What's going on?" He asked. A few more tears fell. He handed me a kleenex and I dried my eyes. I took a deep breath and started talking. "My parents were killed in a car accident. I was in the room when they died. They put me in a girls' home and I was bullied all the time. I turned to you and then they thought I was a loser. I basically had no friends." I said. "The bullying got worst and then people started hitting me. One day someone adopted me but were beating me and then they died so I was sent back to the girls' home." I said. I couldn't continue and I started crying. Jordan held out his arms and I crawled into them. "I'm so sorry to hear that." He said. I continued crying. Jordan rubbed my back. "It's okay to cry." He said. After awhile, I stopped crying. "Go wash the damage from your face and we'll record a video." Jordan said. I nodded and headed to the bathroom.
Jordan's POV
I set up my equipment again. While I was doing that, I kept thinking about what Lexi said. I mean who would want to go through that? Watching the life drain out of your own parents? I would be bawling my eyes out if I saw my mom or dad die in front of me. I heard Lexi coming. I decided to do a challenge video. Nothing terrible. I went into the kitchen and made several milkshakes with extra chocolate. Then I went into my office and moved some stuff. Lexi came in. "What is this?" She asked. A challenge video. You and me." I said. I turned on the camera. I explained that I was doing a challenge. We were supposed to see who could go longer in minecraft and if we died we would drink a milkshake and we would have to try not to get a brain freeze. We were doing good. Then I died. At one point during drinking our shakes, I noticed that Lexi was a little pale. I ended the video. "Hey are you okay?" I asked. Lexi shook her head. I felt her forehead. She was burning up. "You've got a fever." I said. Just then, Lexi's eyes fluttered shut. She wasn't moving. I quickly dialed 911 and an ambulance came. They rushed her to the hospital. I followed them, forming one thought.
Please hope my daughter's alright.
