Adoption day. The one day that decides to waste my time by showing me I will never have a home. I despise it.

I was sitting in my rocking chair by the window. I was too tired to get up, Maddie and I had stayed up all night, playing every instrument we owned. we just couldn't get the music to our liking, and it was annoying. we are trying to write a song to send to our favorite band, Black Veil Brides, but as you can tell, we are sort of failing.

Maddie is my best friend in the whole entire world, she's basically me, and I'm basically her. We listen to the same bands like BVB, BMTH, FOB, SWS, P!ATD, PTV, BOTDF (Etc.) She dyes her hair different colors, just like me. All of the piercings she has most are the same as mine.

I picked up my bass and strummed it a few times. Nothing came to mind.

''Ugh! Worst sleep ever!'' Maddie groans.

''Do you know what the worst thing about today is?'' I ask and she sighs.

''I hate this day. Every month, the woman drags us out of bed just to get ourselves all 'Dolled Up', as she calls it, and just sit there like weird-o's.'' She says into her pillow.

''I know,'' I say and lay my head on my knees that were pressed against my chest. My stomach grumbles and I wince at the sound.

''Day 30,'' I mumble to myself.

Suddenly, a knock on the door echoes through the room and Grace's head pokes through the door.

''Hey, girls. People will be here in about twenty minutes. Start getting ready. Oh! And, I have some surprise people coming, I'm sure you will love them.'' The middle-aged woman blows a kiss and leaves the room.

''Let's get ready,'' I say to Maddie and we start to pick out our outfits. We go into our bathroom and I hop in my shower as she goes into hers. I look at the empty shower before grabbing my shampoo. That shower belongs to River. I wonder where he is right now, I mean, he should be here for Adoption Day. He's probably running.

Once we're out, we put on our makeup, which consists of black smokey eyes and dark coloured lipstick-mine grey- and then we put our warpaint on. I just put a long stripe going across my face, like Andy's, and Maddie puts two diamond lines going down her cheeks, like Jinxx's.

We quickly do our hair. I put mine in a massive sweep over, so my white hair had a low parting, and Maddie's was just simply straight, just flowing down her back.

We then get dressed, I put on my white tank that has Black Veil Brides in black writing and a black war sign on it, and my black ripped skinny jeans. I pull on my knee-high boots and clip my metal Black Veil Brides guitar pick on my neck. I slip on my snake bites, my septum piercing, and all of my earrings before throwing my leather jacket on and looking over at Maddie.

She is wearing a black tank top that has Black Veil Brides in writing and a picture of the five, black ripped skinnies, a black leather jacket and knee high boots with chunky heels. She had all of the same piercings as well, so she had those in too.

We looked like we did every Adoption day.

I picked up my red velvet box from the windowsill and opened it. I read over the note like I did every adoption day.

We love you very much, and we never wanted to give you away, but we had to. You see, we were only sixteen and eighteen when you were born, so we had to put you up for adoption. We will start looking for you on your eighteenth birthday, We love you,

I fold the piece of paper up and open the small red, velvet box again. A ring was in there with the name Echo on it. I slid it on and put the paper in the box before closing it and sliding it into my pocket.

Maddie and I plug our earbuds into our phones before blasting some music, obviously BVB, and putting them in our ears.

I sigh and rub my tattoo on my arm before walking out of the door with Maddie behind.

When we make it down the stairs, people are already speaking to younger kids and laughing with them. We start to walk over to Grace, but stop when we see five gorgeous men talking with Grace.

''Oh my fucking God,'' I mumble before backing into Maddie by accident, which causes us both to fall back. I'm obviously still staring at the five men.

''What the fuck, Echo-'' She stops when she see's me staring. She follows my gaze to meet the five men.

It's Black Veil Brides.

A few tears slip down my cheeks as I grab Maddie's hand.

''Oh my God...'' Maddie mumbled. Tears slip down her face too and grabs my other hand. The men look over at us and smile.

''Happy birthday, girls,'' Grace says before walking over to us.

''Grace, are these the-these surprise p-people?'' I stutter and keep staring at them before looking back and Grace.

Ashley Purdy was wearing a black and white vertically striped shirt with the first 3 buttons undone, loose black, ripped jeans, black leather gloves, black combat boots, a black scarf and a black hat.

I then see CC (Christian Coma) in his loose, black t-shirt with Jack Daniels on it, his black ripped jeans, his black combat boots and his black bandanna with a white pattern.

Jake is there with his black shirt with some tribal patterns on it, his black jeans and a leather jacket with his combat boots.

Jinxx (Jeremy Ferguson) Is there too with his plain black muscle tee, his black jeans and combat boots, too.

Finally, there is Andy Biersack. He is wearing black, ripped skinny jeans, a black shirt and his black skinny jeans with his black leather jacket.

''Indeed, my love, they are indeed.'' She hugs me as a few more tears slip through my eyes.

''Ms. Hansent, are these the two you were talking about?'' Ashley asks Grace. She nods and smiles weakly.

''What?'' Maddie and I ask in unison.

''Girls, these fine young men are looking to adopt.'' She says before weakly smiling at us.

''Why us?'' Maddie asks and Grace looks over at her.

''Because, one, you have been here the longest out of everyone else here, and two, have you looked at what you are wearing?'' She says and we look down.

''But, I'm not leaving Maddie,'' I say and wrap my arms around her.

''And I'm not leaving Echo,'' She says and hugs back.

''I never said one girl, now, did I?'' She says and smirks.

''Thank you so much, Grace!'' Maddie and I shout before hugging her to death.

Ashley places a hand on my back and smiles at us before looking back over to Grace.

''Is it okay if the three of us speak?'' He asks Grace and she nods before showing us to the dining room. We sit down, Maddie and I looking at each other as if we were talking by staring. We then hug each other and sob in one another's arms.

''What are your names?'' He smiles at us and we look up quickly before smiling.

''I'm Maddie, this is Echo,'' Maddie says.

''I already got awesome names for you both,'' He smirks.

''What do you mean?'' I laugh awkwardly.

''Like, how Jeremy has Jinxx, Andy has Andy Sixx. I already have ideas for you both.'' We nod and an awkward silence take's over.

Suddenly, a thought comes to my mind.

Black Veil Brides wants to adopt us!

''Oh my god!'' I shout and look over at Ashley.

''I can't believe you're here.'' I sob before running my hands over my face. I'm so glad that our makeup is water proof.

''So, I can tell you're big fans?'' Ashley asks as we calm down. We burst out crying before hugging each other again.

''Oh God, you are.'' He says as he hugs us.

''I don't really know what to say right now,'' I mumble into his shoulder, no, more like the torso. I'm 5'3, Maddie is 5'5, and he's 5'8, so you can see what I mean.

''How about you say yes or no. Do you want to come with us? To, you know, live?'' He asks with a hopeful smile. Maddie and I look at each other, having another silent conversation. Just as I'm about to say 'Sorry, but we can't leave our best firend' The door bursts open and a sweaty, shirtless River runs in.

''You're not taking them.'' I let out a sigh of relief, and so does Maddie.

''And why is that? They haven't exactly said yes or no, yet?'' Ashley asks politely while standing up.

''Because-''

''Ashley, can you give us a minute, please?'' I ask and he nods before walking out.

''River!'' Maddie shouts and runs into his open arms. I do too and hug him tightly.

''I'm not letting you both go to a band. Of men. Fully grown men. Five of them.'' He says and pecks Maddie's forehead.

''But, River, why don't we ask if you can come too, please? River, please?!'' I just up and down on the balls of my feet with my hands clasped together.

''I don't know-'' He starts to say but I interrupted him.

''Please River?'' I whisper.

He sighs before muttering a 'yes'.

''Ashley!'' I call and he comes walking through the door.

''Yes?'' He smiles at me. My heart instantly drops and I start to feel guilty.

''I'm sorry, but we're not leaving without River,'' I whisper and secretly grasp Maddie's hand, waiting for Ash to scream at us.

''Okay, then don't leave without him.'' He says with a blank face. I instantly feel my facial features wide as my head shoots up.

''What do you mean?'' Maddie asks quietly.

''He can come with you,'' He says with a massive smile on his face.

''Thank you so much, Ashley!'' Maddie and I scream and jump into his arms.

''No problem.'' He smiles and nods his head at River, who is smiling like a maniac.

''Now go pack,'' Ashley says to all of us before walking out of the room.

''We're leaving!'' We scream to each other and hug.

''Let's pack, quick!'' I shout and start to gather all of my things into two bags. I didn't have a lot, all of my shoes and clothes fit in one bag, and my toiletries, makeup and CD's and stuff all fit into another. I then grabbed my book bag and started to collect my school supplies.

''What are we going to do with the instruments?'' Maddie asks me and I just shrug and grab one of my guitar cases.

''We worked hard for these, we're not leaving them,'' I say and zip up my Bass Guitar case.

River, Maddie and I all played instruments. And not only one either.

I play the Cello, Violin and I play Acoustic, Bass, and Electric guitar.

Maddie plays the Drums, Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Saxophone, and Viola. She just doesn't have an Acoustic Guitar, so she uses mine.

And River plays Acoustic, Bass and Electric Guitar, Piano or Keyboard, and the Trumpet.

All in all, we had 6 bags and 13 instruments.

So we had to make a few trips down the stairs, and we live at the top of the house, so that was horrible.

''Is that everything?'' Ashley asks hesitantly.

''Yeah, sorry. It's just that, we all worked really hard to get these instruments and we're not leaving them behind,'' I say, running my hand through my hair.

''That's okay, we have plenty of room, sweetheart,'' CC says as he side hugs me. He goes for my Bass Guitar case and I feel really squirmy.

''Be careful with the Bass, it cost... A lot.'' I say quietly. I get my Acoustic and Cello before walking out to the car.

No, not a car, a bus.

''You brought the fucking bus?!'' I squeal with Maddie as we stop outside the door.

''Yep, we're going to Florida. You gotta be comfy for the long ride?'' Andy chuckles and I stare at the floor.

Fucking Florida I forgot.

''I'm so glad we decided to bring River,'' I mumbled to myself.

''Wait, so you guys drove three days to get here?!'' I squealed and Maddie looked at me in shock.

''You did whaaaaa?'' She says in absolute shock.

''Yeah? Maybe?'' Jinxx shrugs and smiles awkwardly.

I put the last of the instruments/bags on the bus and walked back out to the home.

''Grace?!''I called and all of the kids and Grace came walking out.

''Goodbye, loves. We'll miss you superstars.'' She says while hugging Maddie and me. She goes to hug River and pulls back and mumbles to him.

''If anything happens, call me, and look after the girls, and yourself. Oh, my boy! I'll miss my boy!'' She mumbles before hugging him hard.

''Bye, Echo!'' Rosalie, a four-year-old in the orphanage says to me while hugging my leg. I pick her up and hug her. When I put her down, all of them run to me and pull me in for hugs.

''Bye Echo! Bye Maggie! Bye River!'' They all shout and we sit on the floor and hug them all again. A few tears and sobs slip Maddie, River and I's faces as we hug them all. We've seen kids come and leave this place. Some come as babies, some toddlers, some kids. Some come back and forth, some beaten and bruised, some perfectly fine. Some show up after I have nightmares in the night after they hear me scream, just to give me cuddles.

''We're gonna miss you all,'' I say and a few look up at us with teary eyes, and some already crying. And then some waving.

The teens just stand there and smile at us before giving us hugs and saying goodbye.

''Have fun in Florida, Guys,'' April, a sixteen-year-old here, says to us.

''I'll text you later, telling you how the journey is going,'' I mumble against her shoulder. I may be seventeen, but I'm short. She's 5'6, that's just completely unfair.

''Okay. Bye, guys!'' She shouts to me and Maddie. She gives River a peck on the lips as he walks past. They had been dating for a few weeks, but now he's leaving, it's sort of difficult.

''Bye, babe.'' He hugs her and she smiles before patting his chest twice.

''Bye, muscle man.'' She smirks and hugs Maddie again. God! This girl is full of hugs!

''Bye,'' Grace says again after hugging.

''Bye everyone!'' We all shout before turning around, but stop when we see Ashley there with a sympathetic smile, CC tearing up, Andy holding his arms out, Jake already crying, and Jinxx holding his arms out too. Maddie runs to Jinxx and I run to Andy.

''It's okay, don't cry,'' Andy mumbles against my hair.

''Okay. I'm so glad my makeup's waterproof.'' I mumble after dabbing my eyes with the sleeve of my jacket. He chuckles and whispers, ''Me too.''
