Hadrian

I woke up in a white room. My coach sitting by my side. I quickly rose, freaking the hell out of my coach.

"I collapsed again, didn't I?" I question my coach sadly as I remove myself from the bed.

"It's okay, Yuri. But, have you been eating properly?" He questions sounding concerned.

"I've had trouble keeping food down. I thought I would be okay today. I'm really sorry I embarrassed you." I say bowing to my coach before we leave the medical room.

"You didn't embarrass me, Yuri. I think you should go say 'thank you' to Viktor, he caught you before you could hurt yourself." Coach Celestino said as he spotted Viktor in the crowd, I nodded thanks and walked towards him.

"Извините? Виктор?" I say in Russian hoping to get his attention, it works and he turns around.

"Ой! это ты, ты в порядке сейчас?" He questions as he faces me.

"Да, мне очень жаль, что я доставил тебе неприятности, Виктор. Это больше не повторится, и спасибо." I say apologising to him.

"Нет проблем! Ваш русский очень хорош." He compliments with a closed eye smile.

"Спасибо, мне пора идти. Я снова очень сожалею." I sat with a small smile and turn around and walk back towards Celestino.

"Пока юрий," Victor says as I walk away.

As Celestino and I were walking out of the building Moruka calls out gaining the attention of Celestino as well as mine.

"Hey! Katsuki!"

"Don't give up yet kid, ya hear me!" He yells shocking me. We weren't that close, I went to school with his brother Morio.

"You're too young to retire!" He seethes.

"I'm not going to retire. I collapsed, I'll be fine. I'll take a break for a while. That's all, say 'hi' to Morio for me." I say blankly over my shoulder as I exit the building, unknown to me Viktor was listening into the conversation.

~One Year Later~

~Hasetsu Station~

—————————————

I spent five years away from home. Away from my friends and family. Not trying to seem over dramatic but it feels like things have changed, even this old station has changed from the last time I've seen it.

As I slowly descended from the escalators I was shocked to see lines of posters varying in size all over the station, they all had me on them.

"Yuri! Why are you skulking around like that?" A bright and cheerful voice calls out, I jump in fright.

"What are you doing here?" I question slowly getting over my shock.

"Welcome home after five long years!" The ballerina squeals as she spins around and lands an arabesque.

"That's really not necessary," I say as I walk closer to the ticket gate.

"Stand straight and smile would ya'!" She says as she continues to spin around holding a white banner with my skater name written in pink letters.

I really shouldn't be surprised that Minako would know my exact arrival time.

"Hey! Isn't that Yuri the ice skater?" A High schooler points out to his friend.

"Sure looks like it to me." He replies in a quieter tone than his friend.

"Haven't heard much about him lately, what's he been up to?" Another man questions.

"He lost that big competition last year remember? He fainted before he could go on the ice." A young woman's voice replies.

"What the nationals?" The same Male questions.

As I passed the ticket gate a fisherman walked up to me. "Let me shake your hand young man." He offered me his hand.

"I wouldn't want to waste your time sir." He seemed shocked at my shy reply.

"It doesn't cost you anything to shake hands does it—" Minako starts to scold me.

"It's not that, it's just that I've been sick lately and I don't want anyone to contract it," I say as I shuffle my feet.

She pauses and looks at my face, I had removed my mask and she could see the pale and sunken face, the dark circles under my eyes and my red pink nose that was beginning to look slightly crusty, the only thing that seemed to have life in them were my rosy lips.

"Yeah, you don't look very well. Let's get you home to rest." She said as she gently patted my cheek.

After she looked me over she seemed to be deep in thought, she glanced over to me from time to time always looking concerned.

"Did your sickness start before or after you collapsed last year?" She questioned silently her gaze never straying from in front of her.

"I fainted because I've been having problems eating. It's still the same. My immune system hasn't been that good either. I've visited Madam Reiki but she says the problem is my eating habits, I already knew that. She says I've got to try eating more." I say quietly feeling ashamed.

"Yuri, I know you have always had mental health issues, you know with your parents abandoning you and keeping your brother. I think you have to get a therapist or something to release all of the bad emotions." She says with a sigh.

"That's what I skate for. I feel great afterwards and I've been eating more than usual lately, maybe coming home will help me, I've missed all of you." I say looking towards her with a small smile.

Slowly we delve into a comfortable silence. And the Hot springs come into view, we both walk through the gates and into the building, as I close the door I call out to my family.

"I'm home."

"Hirako! you'll never guess who I have with me!" Mirako sings from my side.

My mother rushes through the open door.
"Mirako, thank you for going to get him at the station. Hadrian! Welcome home!" She says as she stops before us, she had always been tiny, you can really see the difference in our height, mine was almost double of hers.

"Yeah, thanks Mom. It's been a long time. I should have come to visit sooner, sorry." I say looking down sadly.

"None of that now, I only wish I could have made it to your graduation. Want a pork cutlet bowl?" My mother says with her warm brown eyes shining with happiness.

"You know? You look like you lost weight." Minako says as she looks my petit yet chubby mother over.

"Your so sweet to an old lady!" My mother says as she wiggles, happy with the compliment.

"What about you? No matter how much you drink you never gain a pound!" My mother says as she looks the ballerina over.

"Talking about weight, we need to talk about Hadrian's." Minako says as she glances towards me.

"He never gains weight, no matter what he eats! What's there to talk about." My dad says as he comes through to the front desk.

"His weight is the reason he has been collapsing and getting sick." Minako says and my parents happy smiles turn to confusion.

"For a while before the competition I had been struggling with keeping food down. That's the reason I collapsed the number before my own. It's the reason I had to forfeit the competition. I've not skated competitively since then, I've been visiting doctors and trying to gain a more healthy amount of weight. I weight more than I did last month, so that's good progress, right?" I say sadly.

"Oh Harry..." my mother sadly whispers as she wraps her tiny arms around my tall frame.

"I'll be okay, alright Mom?" I say as I wrap my arms around her shoulders.

"Before I eat can I go see Vic-Chan? I'm sure he is sulking in my room." I say with a small smile.

"He hasn't left your room since you left. We need to leave his food in there for him, also it's a good thing that he was an experiment." Dad says with a large smile.

"After you go see Vic-Cham why don't you both go to the skating rink. Okay, sweetheart?" Mom says with her loving smile . I give her a sweet smile and walk off towards my room, where my familiar is probably sulking.
