Y/n's POV

I'm Kang y/n. Studying overseas starting at an early age. I am now returning to my grandpa's hamlet in Dawranza, the lone member of my family, to spend a few days there after receiving my gemology degree from London.

My parents are someone I have never met or heard about. Never actually had an opportunity to give it a listen. My grandfather sent me away to aboard when I was just six years old, so I don't remember much of my early years. My grandfather is the only member of my family. My grandfather is a highly esteemed individual and a close friend of his village's headman. In the village, he has a sizable fertilizer shop. Because of him, I never had any trouble, even though I was outside the village and far away from him. But, despite my repeated requests, my grandfather never brought me back to him, stating that he would only do so once I had finished my education. That's why I harbored a short-lived resentment toward my grandfather ever since, but it was fleeting.

So as per my grandpa's words, after all these years, finally I am going to stay with him for a while after finishing my studies.

The car came to a stop on the main road just before we entered the settlement, and I got out to pay the fare. After that, I turned around and the village's serene, verdant scenery opened up before me. A fresh, sweet air caresses me, whispering to me that they have been waiting so long for my homecoming. They are beckoning me with their verdancy and clean air, therefore they found me today.

Whatever my reasons for living away from the village and in the city, there is something about this village that constantly draws me back. Perhaps the only member of my family whom I truly love, my grandpa, is here. Perhaps the village's natural beauty, tranquility, and simplicity, removed from the bustle and pollution of the metropolis, are the reason for it. I'm not sure.

After walking a little further, I saw an elderly man standing and waiting for someone. As soon as he saw me, he came towards me with a big smile. Yes, this is my grandpa Kang Daeun. As soon as he came near, he started bombarding me with questions.

Daeun: Oh my Y/n-ah how are you? Did you have any problems on the road? How parched your face appears to be! Have you had any food? How slender do you look!! Are you not adequately consuming your meal there?

Y/n: Oh my lord grandpa!! calm down. How can I answer so many questions at once?? And don't worry too much, I've traveled so far that I'm just a little tired, that's all. I am perfectly fine and fit, nothing happened to me.

Daeun: But-!! OK, drop it, now that you're here, I'll feed you to my heart's content in front of my eyes. Absolutely fresh and delicious village food.

Y/n: Yes yes. That's what I am saying, grandpa. I am now in front of your eyes, feed me as much as you want. But before that can we go home? After so many years, I came here with so much difficulty from that distance and you made me stand in the street, my legs hurt, won't you take me home??

Daeun: Oh, what kind of person am I? You have come from so far and I have left you standing in the street. The thing is, seeing you after so many years, I have forgotten everything.

Y/n: I see oldman!! You love me so much that you forget everything just by seeing me. So why have you separated me from you for so many years, grandpa??

As I asked this, his face turned pale and serious.

Daeun: There was a reason behind what I did.

Y/n: What is the reason grandpa? That all these years you have to keep me away from you?

Daeun: Stop it now Y/n. I said there was reason behind what I did. I don't want to say anything more about this. You have been standing here for a long time, now come with me let's go home, you have come a long way, you must be tired.

Seeing grandpa getting angry and now I was also tired so I started walking back with my grandpa without any further discussion about it. But as long as I studied abroad, whenever I asked my grandpa this question, I don't know why he either avoided it or got so angry. Since childhood till today I have not got the answer why my grandpa kept me away from him. But I know that my grandpa loves me more than himself and always wants me to be happy. So, like my childhood days, I didn't talk about my question anymore like my grandpa said.

After a while we reached Grandpa's house.It was evening when we reached Grandpa's house.

After I got fresh, grandpa and I sat together to eat.Grandpa's two trusted middle-aged maids served all the food to our table one by one.

Y/n: Grandpa how much did you arrange? How do I eat all this??

Daeun: Shut up. First of all, as long as you stay with me, you must eat all the food that I give you. Secondly, your body has lost energy by eating that unhealthy food in the city, that's why you are so tired after traveling for a while at this age. And these foods that are served to you are fresh, nutritious and homemade.

Necessarily, without arguing with my grandpa, I started eating. And after so many years of eating urban food, the taste of home-made food for the first time brings the taste of nectar to my tongue.

Y/n: Umm grandpa the food is really delicious. Who cooked all this?

Grandpa pointed to the middle aged woman of the two maids of his.

Daeun: Her name is Sarah. She handles all my cooking and housework. And he (pointing to the man) his name is Bishan. He handles some of my business with me and the rest of the time he tends to my garden at home, taking care of anyone who comes to visit me in my absence.

Y/n: Wow ajhuma!! You cook really amazing. Will you teach me how to cook such delicious food??

Sarah: Oh ofcourse my child.

After having numerous more conversations, this was how our supper concluded. My grandpa then requested me to get some rest and promised to show me the entire hamlet the next day. I then made my way to my bedroom.

Then I went to the window to close it and suddenly I saw someone walking in the dark and something was shining in his hand. It was so dark outside that only the body was visible but the face was not. So I called him.

Y/n: who is there??

But he didn't answer. So I called again thinking maybe he didn't hear me.

Y/n: Hello!! can you hear me? who are you?? What are you doing here at this time of night?

But he didn't answer this time either and continued walking. After walking some distance, the body disappeared into the darkness.

I thought I should tell my grandpa about this. But I was so exhausted today that I eventually nodded off to sleep thinking that I will talk with him tomorrow morning.
