About Adia, Scientist

This is what Adia sees when she looks out of a window. Areon Spaceport is on the Barrens but also near the ocean, but none of the windows in the Eicken Project buildings face it. If she leans on the sash and looks left, she can see a bit of green farms of Lilmerica and Kleideu to the north of the Barrens. The ocean is south and to the far right.

Welcome to Areon, a mostly barren world, terraformed to have a small ocean and an area in the mountains that has the world's few farms.

Areonians don't know much about their history. Their colony is 200 years old. There are two provs in the colony, Kleideu, where the farms are, and Lilmerica, where the scientists and shipbuilders live. Eicken is the city where Adia and her family live, and work. Her parents are scientists, who work in the same building, and her twin sister, Maia works at home.

I'll be dropping this novel pretty fast so I can enter it in the Wattys. Updates will begin Saturday, Jun 22, 2024 and 3 chapters at a time on Tu, Th and Sat at 1 am! It will be complete Jul 11, 2024 with the last chapters.  There will be bonus chapters through Aug 6, 2024.

Adia, Scientist is actually the first book you should read of the ones I have here. This novel begins all of the adventures of first contact on Earth that I'm writing about! Molly's Miracle Colonies is the second, and I will be working on Adia, One Of Prophecy, the sequel to this one. Ella's Saga and Becky's Gift, as well as Granny's SETI Goblin, tie into this storyline. All of the books are standalone, so you don't have to read them in a particular order to know what's going on. See my reading list for my suggested reading order. However, each book is written to stand on its own, so you won't be lost if you read them out of order.

Adia Series

Adia, Scientist, Vol. 01

Adia, One Of Prophecy, Vol. 02 WIP, this is my Jul 2024 Camp NaNoWriMo project.

Third volume may be about her clone who married Ryee's clone and went to Esteerr, or I may continue Adia's life as Queen Of Ye~ after their mission. Let me know in the comments which you might like to read more!

The Adia Series is a part of my Battle Of The Cubes project. That's why I made a reading list to tell y'all what order to read these books in.

The main story begins with Adia, Scientist, Molly's Miracle Colonies, then Adia, One Of Prophecy.

Next big story will be Ray, Host.

Adia, Scientist was on Kindle Unlimited, which put me on a contract not to upload it anyplace else. Now it's still on Amazon, but here, too!

Soon, I will release Whatz In The Closet, about Adia's little sister Aronna who sneaks into the Areon Spaceport with friends and tries to adopt an alien pet. This story takes place before Adia, Scientist and is a short story.

Looking forward to your comments!

 About The Cover

I created the cover in DAZ Studio and used the Genesis 8 model for all the people. My original art is used for the cover in the Art Painter software Amazon provides for my final cover design with text, color palette and bar code. Art Painter is simple and easy to use even if you don't have a cover design to upload.

Lab coats are Mad Scientist Lab Coat by Wilmap and Doctor's Coat by Wilmap. I used hair from various Genesis models but all converted well.

If you ever thought about playing with 3D models, DAZ Studio is free and a lot of fun! Plenty of tutorials and lots of free people, clothing, sets, and props to get you started. Free models are available on many websites. The link is on the main page at daz3d.com

Wilmap's Mad Scientist Coat for Genesis – Citsa and Ossy

Wild Wind Hair by DAZ Originals and Goldtassel – Citsa

Orion Hair by 3Dream and Mairy – Ossy

Wilmap's Doctor's Coat for G2F – Adia

Iconic Morphing Fantasy Dress for G8F by DAZ Originals, JGreenlees, PoisenedLily and Ravenhair – Adia's purple dress, Tanda's navy blue dress that you barely see in the sleeve, and Citsa's too-short [knee length] black dress that shows under her lab coat.

Bernedette Hair by DAZ Originals and goldtassel – Tanda

For the three foreground male characters, I converted this outfit, Epsilon by DAZ Originals and Lourdes from pre-Genesis generation 4 Michael using two different conversion utilities, once from M4 to Genesis, then Genesis to G8M. Never again! But then I colored the suits for Vonn and Derees white, and the one for Ryee, DS blue. The DS blue is a distinctive shade, with a long history in my science fiction universe. Leaving the white with only the top half of the characters showing did well for a lab coat.

Jonas Hair by DAZ Originals and goldtassel– perfect hair for my Zheien characters like Ryonne~

I used the HFS Ultimate Shapes for G8M by DarioFish to get Ryee's body and hands close to the right shape, then GIMP to make two flat, graceful, rectangular fingers. I am not good with Blender. I had trouble with some of it. But, I love this package! You can make infinite varieties of aliens from it!

For the other fellas and ladies, I used morphs from:

Dogz and Dev0

Aging Morphs by Dev0

DAZ Originals Genesis 8 Head Morphs

Pure Hair for Genesis by DAZ Originals – Derees

This building is West Park Day Room by DAZ Originals and Jack Tomalin; DAZ Originals and Ravnheart did the Nursery Clinical mats.

The simulants flying around the lab are the Alien Collector by petipet.

Various cylinders and test tubes came from Sci-Fi Crates 'n Containers sets by DzFire available from DAZ.

Monitors are from Medical Center Waiting Room by SloshWerks.

The long counters are from Bar Interior 2018 by DAZ Originals and SoulessEmpathy; the beautiful wood and bronze bars reminded me of turn of the century furniture, and this colony is 200 years old. Any wood furniture remaining would be from the 1700s or 1840s because their trees died out. The granite tops fit, too, though I made them less shiny for the futuristic material I describe. Light from the simulants colored them.

The Barrens that show through the windows [and at the top of these notes] were created by me from scratch in VUE 2016.

Dedication

Susan S. Kyle, who taught me everything I know about writing. My sister has encouraged me and believed in me all these years, and I hope her faith in me will not be in vain. To Susie, who took me with her to the library often when I was a child. Her passion for science made me love it. We used a telescope to look at Mars and the Pleiades. We looked at ant stingers with a microscope she bought. Such adventures we had together!

I have fond memories of the model kits we put together, and of proofreading her first draft of The Morcai Battalion at age 11.

This series is dedicated to Susie. She watched it grow. Now my dreams of sharing it with all of you are happening. I strive to describe my scenes as well as she, so that you feel transported to another place for the time you spend reading.
