i. Worst First Day
[L/n]'s eyes fluttered open, excited for her first day of school at UA, even if she'd be joining horrifically late.
Everything was hunky dory until she looked at the clock and realized that not only was she joining the school year late, she was also going to be late.
"Eek!" She shrieked, rolling out of her bed and hitting the floor with an abnormally loud thump. [L/n] ran through her apartment in utter chaos, eventually managing to get ready and dashed out the door at full speed, attempting to cram a blueberry muffin down her throat, but failing miserably.
Good job, [F/n]! You're doing great! Wow, even my inner voice is dripping with sarcasm.
Luckily, she didn't live too far away from the school, but the second she arrived, Principal Nezu grabbed her by her arm and began to drag her away from the main school building.
"[F/n] [L/n], Quirk: Puppet, Class 1-A Student. Late on your late start to the year, but at least you got breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day, you know." The animal spoke, the two making their way to the First Year Stage, though the [h/c] haired girl had no idea why.
"Oh, that's right, you don't know what's going on. Today is UA's Sports Festival, so go out there, and do your best! Oh, and wear this!" The animal thrusted the sports uniform at her. "Now go!"
"Eh!?" She yelled while running to the restroom located within the First Year Stage, not knowing what was going on at all. Why couldn't I wake up on time!?
After changing from her regular uniform to the sports uniform, half remaining blueberry muffin in her mouth, she ran out onto the First Year Stage area, everyone's eyes falling on her as everyone had already been gathered and the day had already been explained.
Everyone was looking at her.
And just as she was about to make it to the massive crowd of students, she noticed her shoes weren't tied.
"Eek!" And she tripped.
While most began laughing or sighing in disappointment, a dark blue haired boy came up and extended his hand.
"Tenya Iida, Class 1-A President. Are you okay?" He asked, the girl grabbing his hand as he proceeded to pull her up.
"[F/n] [L/n], new student to Class 1-A. And I am, thank you." She smiled gratefully, the boy smiling back.
"Now let's go, everything's about to star-"
"Make your way to the start of the Obstacle Race!"
All the students bolted towards the start of the Obstacle Race, the space being beyond cram packed.
No matter how I look at it, I'm at a major disadvantage. I don't know anyone or their Quirks, so I don't even know what I need to prepare for, or need to do, I don't know anything. The only thing I have on my side is that no one knows my Quirk either, and I'll have to rely on that far much more than I'd like.
The race soon began, and as everyone made a mad dash forwards, some used their Quirk to avoid the jam up.
[L/n] ran forwards, grabbing people's arms, shoulders, hips, whatever she could grab and temporarily stopped the muscles in their legs, getting past her opponents one by one. They didn't know what happened to them, all they knew is that this [h/c] haired, [e/c] eyed girl that they had never seen before had grabbed ahold of them for a seconds time, and their legs just stopped working for that moment.
"Wha-" Her eyes landed upon the massive robots, "Those are huge!" Despite her words, she grinned. Running up to one of the problematic robots, she could feel people's eyes on her, as if she was crazy for approaching the massive heap of metal with seemingly no strength or mass producing Quirk.
She got in on recommendation for a reason, but none of them knew that, they didn't even know her name.
Slapping her hand on the oddly cold metal, the onlooking students watched as the robots legs stopped moving, and as the girl ran to where she was behind the robot, one hand still placed on, she removed the hand and ran. In the exact second her hand lifted, the robot began moving like normal once more.
If I knew the actual composition of the metal monster I would've been able to shut it down, all I could was stop it long enough for me to make it through. Good luck, everyone else.
A certain black haired boy was in shock, awe, and disbelief. "I'm sorry, what did I just watch? Who was that? And what's her name?"
"Pfft!" His blonde friend laughed, slapping his hand across his back. "You can get her number once this is all over, but as far as I'm concerned, she's a literal threat. And I thought Bakugou was scary." The two boys shivered.
And the navy blue haired boy, earlier introduced as Tenya Iida was smiling, but frustrated. Another Class 1-A Student who got in through recommendation.
[L/n]'s eyes locked on two individuals ahead of her, both of whom she had at least heard of.
Katsuki Bakugou, who people just seemed to not like.
Shoto Todoroki, son to the Pro Hero, Endeavor.
The tightrope was quite the experience, the girl being relatively bad at keeping her balance, she couldn't even make it to the center stage without falling on national tv, and her blueberry muffin thoroughly being shoved down her pie hole.
"Jeez, I need to learn to balance more." She sighed to herself, rubbing the sweat from her forehead. Oh, right, back to running! Catching herself off guard, she began to run once more.
"Ugh, I'm too lazy to run like this!" She whined to absolutely no one. Shiiiiit, a mine field.
Walking across as carefully as possible, she reached out to everyone she could to stop them long enough for herself to get past them, and it didn't take much. Turns out, stopping someone's ability to move their legs makes it quite hard for them to move forward.
After narrowly managing to avoid the mines, she sneezed and took a step backwards, her foot landing directly on a mine. Story of my life.
Being majestically propelled forwards, her body hit another mine, and was propelled again. Only this time, she was propelled into a person. An angry person who looked like murder was on his daily agenda.
The ashy haired boy said no words, rather he dismissed her presence and kept blasting himself forwards like she was a mere leaf in the wind. No wonder a lot of people don't like him, sheesh.
After being blown to the area with no mines, she stumbled up, sports uniform looking like garbage, and started to run that final stretch. She wasn't going to be the first, but she didn't expect herself to be. It's not like [L/n] had super speed or super strength.
The whole world's eyes were on these students, waiting and watching for the final results.
Nearing the end, [L/n] was about to cross the finish line and claim victory in a top five spot, until she heard two abnormal screeches.
Whipping her heard around, she saw two boys trapped in the ground, seeming to have been thrusted in there by the effects of the mines and the possible actions of someone's Quirk who was trying to surpass them. Problem was, not only were they stuck, but they appeared to be in pain as well.
Without an ounce of hesitation, she began to run in the opposing direction of the finish line and reached out a hand to the black haired male first. "Don't panic, just trust me." She didn't give him the time to say anything as she latched her hand onto his and used her Quirk to loosen every muscle in his body, making him the equivalent to a noodle. Ripping him from the ground, she did the same thing to the redhead.
"Sorry boys, but I woulda been in the top five if this didn't happen, so I really gotta make sure I at least make it now. Bye bye!" And she ran, again.
The two boys made their way as well, having to shake parts of their bodies to get rid of that weird feeling that was just left behind from whatever had been done to them, because honestly, they had no idea.
While the girl was running, she felt something wrap around her waist. "Take this as my thanks, Marionette!" Yelled the black haired boy from earlier, tape wrapping around her waist and throwing her all the way through the finish line, placing her in eleventh place.
"I wanna nap!" She whined, just laying on the ground, not bothering to get up. "It's only my first day, I don't even know any of you yet!"
"H-hi! I s-saw what happened on the b-big screen and I wanted to sa-say that was awful hero like of y-you." A green haired boy stuttered, unable to really look at the girl despite her face being on the ground, facing downwards.
"Oh, thanks!" She replied, still not bothering to move. "Can't be a hero if I don't put others will before my own." [L/n] answered simply, as if it were just common sense for her to do what she did.
The boy was soon dragged away by others, people she assumed to be his friends, even though she couldn't see them.
"Yo, you can get off the floor now." A familiar voice spoke, the one she believed belonged to the black haired boy who basically yeeted her through the finish line with tape.
"But the ground is comfortable and I'm tired! Plus, I don't even know anyone, it's my first day and this is what I get stuck with!" [L/n] whined, making a pouty face though she knew it couldn't be seen.
"Whoa, that's a crazy first day to have!" The boy admitted with a laugh. "I really do suggest getting off the ground though, not that you were here to know about it, but the Calvary Battle is up next." The boy explained. "If you don't get up, I'll have to use my tape and I really don't wanna have to use it too much before everything gets really rough."
"Fine, but only because I want you to have your absolute best shot." With a sigh, she pushed her palms on the ground, pushing herself up and getting to her feet, now actually looking at the person she was talking to.
"Thanks for getting me through the finish line."
"Thanks for getting Kirishima and I outta that situation. Oh, I'm Sero by the way!" The boy smiled widely, thrusting his fist out to her.
"I'm [L/n], and I'm the newest edition to Class 1-A!" She smiled, fist bumping him, glad to meet a second person and actually know what their name is.
"I'm in Class 1-A, so we'll see each other around then!" Sero grinned. The two didn't get to talk more as it was time to find Calvary Battle teams.
Finding a team was a lot rougher than [L/n] had anticipated, and she already figured it would be difficult. Especially considering her situation.
But as a bird-headed boy pointed his finger in her direction, a green haired boy and pink haired girl followed him, and they were heading directly towards her.
Here comes an emo bird boy, broccoli head, and cotton candy hair.
