The Breaking of the DA Part One

ADELE BLACK: THE SEQUEL

THE BREAKING OF THE DA PART ONE

As the months after Christmas went by, I found myself studying for OWLS a whole lot.

Between that and the Dumbledore's Army meeting and spending time with George, I found little time to actually speak to my god brother.

Not that I was happy about that, I really wasn't, but part of me felt relieved from it.

There was a huge possibility that he'd speak to me about my father- how he didn't mean what he said.

I would snort, probably, and say that he did mean it. I believe for some reason that when people say something when they are drunk, the words that flow out of their mouth are true.

I had received a letter from my father.

"Adele,

I'm not sure what I exactly said over the holidays, but please know that I am sorry.

Love from,

Dad".

I didn't give him a reply; he needs to know what he said first.

Apologies, I realized, are a waste of my time. I've given a whole lot, but I haven't received a whole lot back. Why should I something for someone if nobody does something for me back?

"'Dele?" George's voice announced, dragging me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, Georgie?" I asked.

"Me and Fred.... We're going to leave after our last NEWT," he said softly, kissing my cheek.

I felt my eyes water up. "Oh."

"If it's okay with you, of course," he asked me.

I grinned a watery grin. "Pursue your dream, George. Nobody can stop you. I will support you ever single step of the way."

"Well that's good, because otherwise...." The man I fell in love with knelt down on one knee in front of me.

My eyes were wide with shock. Was he....?

"Adele Lillian Black. I love you with all my heart. Your the sun to my sky. I want to be with you forever. So.... Will you accept this promise ring?"

My heart deflated a little bit.

"Oh.... Uhm.... Yeah."

He winced. "You thought I was going to propose, didn't you?"

I blushed. "Yeah," I admitted.

"Well open the cookie next to you," he smiled.

At that moment I noticed that there suddenly was a fortune cookie next to me. Confused, I snatched it off of the table and broke it in half.

After pulling the little slip of parchment out, I shoved the cookie in my mouth.

I was hungry, okay? The last time I ate was a when I had a piece of pie ten minutes ago.

I read the slip to myself first.

"Will you marry me?"

Further down on the piece of parchment, it had my lucky numbers:

4, 5,6,8, 3 and 8.

I love u.

I smiled and looked at George who had a ring in ring box.

I nodded, unable to speak. Tears rolled down my cheeks from crying tears of joy.

He slipped a ring on my finger. It was simple. It had a grey band and a small white diamond in the shape of a small owl. It was perfect.

"Yes, yes. A million times yes!"

Sitting still had never been my forte, and it was even harder for me to do so now.

Within a few minutes, exams would be over. For the seventh years? Forever. For me? Ha. As if.

I had bubbled in the last question, which was "What is the spell used for unlocking doors?". I had bubbled in C, which was the spell Alhomora.

I glanced over at the twins. The two of them took their brooms out from under their chairs.

George gave me a look of love as he and his twin swished their wands. Fireworks blasted out of them; everything turned into complete chaos after that.

It was a few days later, I believe it was, when it was decided that we would all go to the Ministry of Magic.

"Your father.... He's at the Ministry and he's being tortured," Harry told me.

Suddenly all of the slight hatred I had towards my father in the pit of my stomach disappeared. It was replaced suddenly by a feeling of dread; my father was being tortured.

"We have to go to the Ministry of Magic," I stated.

And so that's we did.

It was probably the biggest mistake of my life.
