Alternate story line - Chapter : 8
Hey Guys, just wanted to say that the original story of Adar was supposed to end the last chapter and I was supposed to put the epilogue up. My co-author convinced me to update the story with the 'Alternate' continuation of the story. As stated in my bio, Adar was an experiment on writing. So the 'Alternate' continuation of it may/Will get off from the original plot. If you guys want I could put up the original epilogue of the original ending.

A dark area was lit by a little flame. The flame seemed to beat like a living heart, harmonious and paced.
What is this place? Thought a voice aloud.
Where am I?
Suddenly the flame died out and the area turned bright white.
Adar's eyes fluttered open. He saw a dark sky with no stars. A lantern soon came into his view. A man was kneeling beside him, holding the lantern. He had jet-black hair that was short. His eyes were surprised.
"You've awoken. " said the man.
"What happened?" asked Adar, pain traveling everywhere as he spoke. A grimace must have shown, for the man told Adar to stay quiet.
"Don't speak now. You need to rest." said the man. He then turned around and stood up, jumping somewhere. Adar was alarmed as he saw the man suddenly disappear.
Adar felt the bumping of the surface he was on, then heard the familiar Clip-Clop sound of horse shoes. He weakly turned his head to the side. He saw brown wood immediately realizing he was in a cart.
I'm in a cart? Thought Adar. Melanie! Where is she!
His question was answered swiftly as he heard the voice of Melanie.
"He's awake! " exclaimed Melanie.
"Yes. " replied the voice of the man." We must leave him to rest. Melanie, I thank you. If not for the concoction you made, things might have turned out different."
"What luck." said a voice Adar did not recognize." A Physician and an Apothecary here to aid this boy. It seems more like fate to me."
"He truly is lucky to have survived that wound, but we are not in clear waters yet. Anything can happen." said the dark haired man.
Melanie was riding in the horse that belonged to Nathaniel, alongside the cart. Nathaniel in turn was driving the cart . John had been riding in the cart treating Adar and doing his best to make sure he wasn't worsening.

After they had killed the militia men, John and his brother had brought Adar to the Cart. Melanie followed behind, still in a bit of shock. John immediately began to work on Adar, cleaning his cuts. Melanie gave John a small jar of honey she carried around for emergencies. It proved very useful. Adar's cuts had not been infected and no sign showed that they would.
Melanie, all at once, snapped out of her shock. She began to rummage through John's supply box and immediately was able to make a Lamb's ear. Better known as a (Colonial) band aid, the Lamb's ear would stop the flow of blood from a cut and keep the wound clean. She also added a few remedies, such as roots, to the list of helpful things that she gave to John. He had to save Adar's life and with no time to spare.

The cart had stopped once John had told Nathaniel and Melanie about Adar. Now all three stood beside the cart.
A smile played on Melanie's lips. Her eyes were teary.
Nathaniel grinned and patted John on the back."My goodness, John, you did an amazing job. Is he doing well? "
John gave a sigh of relief." He is in pain, but that is to be expected. Overall he does seem to be doing well."
"May I go see him? " asked Melanie.
John thought for a second. He devised it would be for the better. Adar most likely wanted to know what had happened to his friend. "Yes, Melanie, you may see him."
Melanie hurriedly went to the back of the cart and climbed into. Melanie took two steps then kneeled beside Adar, who was lying in the middle of the cart. A white blanket, covered with his blood, was underneath him.
Adar's shirt had been unbuttoned while John tried his best to preserve his life. Melanie could see the bandages wrapped around his upper chest. His chest was rising and falling slowly. He was asleep. Sweat was all over his forehead . Melanie pulled a rag from John's supply box and wiped the sweat from his fore head.
After putting the rag back in the supply box, Melanie noticed a necklace that was tied around his right bicep and tricep. It was inside of his long sleeved shirt. She only stared at it for a moment before she noticed Adar's bloodied hands, his finger nails stained. She grabbed his hand and held it. She remembered when she first met him. How terrified she had been, especially when she had seen the blood on his fingers.
Adar... Thought Melanie. She smiled and lowered her head. A teardrop fell from her eyes and and landed on his fingers.
Little by little she began to sob. I almost lost him, even though I knew him for no more than a few days.
After wiping her eyes with her sleeve, she stood up and walked over to the side of the cart. Nathaniel offered his arm as she made her way off.
She lost her balance as her feet hit the floor.
"Woah there." Said Nathaniel as he helped here out. "You must be tired. "
Melanie nodded, " Yes, I am exhausted."
John smiled, " You should get some rest then. I'll put another blanket so you can sleep next to Adar."
Nathaniel looked at John with a worried Face. "No. Not now. " Said John.
Melanie noticed John glaring at Nathaniel.
Nathaniel sighed and walked to the front of the cart ready to drive it again.
"What was that about? " asked Melanie.
"No need to worry about it." Replied John.
"If you don't mind me asking, where are we headed? " asked Melanie.
"To the nearest Town." Said John." We are going to help you locate your families."
Melanie looked over at Adar, then back at John. "We have no families."
John frowned." What do you mean you have no families? "
"It's a long story." Said Melanie. Her eyebrows lowered. It would be a bit painful for her to remember and to tell the story.
Melanie leaned against the cart and started to tell him parts of her and Adar's story.

Sixty gray uniformed men stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder. Their hands were bound behind their back with rope. Behind them stood men with black uniforms.
Langstrom walked down the line of men. His sword was drawn and in his hand. "Failure is not something we smile at. It is something we frown upon. What you all have done is far worse than failure, it is a disgrace. You will all be punished."
All of the gray uniformed men had been under Captain Barnette's command. The black uniformed men behind them were Langstrom's personal army.
"Commence the punishment." said Langstrom as he turned on his heel and faced the men.
All in one motion, Langstrom's army pushed the gray uniformed men down on their knees. They pulled out there flintlock pistols and fired at the back of their heads. Blood sprayed on the leaves in front of them. One by one the bodies of the gray uniformed men fell.
Langstrom looked over to a nearby tree. Captain Barnette's mangled body had been strung up on it.
"Failure is not an option." said Langstrom. He raised his rapier sword. It had a heavily decorated hilt." Let this be a lesson to all you who do not wish to perish as they did. Do not Fail!"
End Of Chapter
I know it was a very short chapter. Sorry about that. Don't forget to comment and vote if you liked it. I'm excited I get to continue Adar after all. I do warn you from here on out, the' Alternate' version will not follow the plot like It should have! But I hope you guys still enjoy it! :)
