Downing the last bit of her champagne, Eva set the crystal flute on a passing waitress's tray as she walked on with a for-the-guests smile on her face until she got to the arched stairs on the left.
She hurried up the stairs, needing to be alone to fight off the batallion of desire and other emotions that were attacking her after just some minutes of being near Adam.
Getting to the top of the stairs, she took the west wing, going pass the several rooms the large mansion housed and into the restroom that was at the end of the hallway.
She closed the door behind her and stepped forward into the bathroom, gazing at herself in the mirror.
She hadn't put on any blush today but her cheeks were crimson red, more from her want for Adam than embarrassment.
Resisting the urge to splash some water on her face despite her makeup being waterproof, Eva placed her hands on the two ends of the sink and leaned her weight on it, blowing out a sigh as she looked down at the sinkholes.
Focus, Eva, focus. You're getting married and that's what you should think about. You need to tear Adam out of your mind.
She repeated those words in her head over and over again like a mantra, but the empty feeling the thought of marrying Brandon brought still lingered.
The door clicked open but Eva didn't bother to turn since they'd placed a small for female sign on the door. After a while when she didn't hear the click of heels, she looked up to check who had entered, and she flinched when the mirror reflected Adam leaning against the door and gazing at her with grim determination.
She spun around, heart suddenly careening violently against her ribcage. God the man could rattle her so effortlessly in a matter of seconds.
“What the heck are you doing here? In case you didn't see it, there's a for females sign on the door."
“Oh I did see it." Still leaning against the door, he shoved both of his hands into his pockets, shrugging. “As for why I'm here, you left to come while we were still talking so I assumed you wanted us to talk somewhere more private.”
“Do you realize what this could cause?" She shot at him angrily. “This is my engagement, Adam. What do you expect people to think when they walk in to find you here? They're gonna assume things.”
“Well, they wouldn't have to assume.”
Before Eva could even enquire what he meant by that, he'd crossed over and severed the distance between them.
Stepping too close for her sanity, he rested both of his hands on the sink on either side of her, preventing any possible escape.
“What the hell do you want, Adam?" She demanded, exasperated, his warmth making her tingle.
“Cancel your wedding with Brandon. Don't get engaged tonight. Not ever.”
Her breath caught, and she would've sneered at the demand if not for the plea she sensed throbbing in the calmly spoken words.
She scanned his face to ascertain whether he was being serious. His expression was blank, eyes gazing into hers stormily and yet giving nothing away, but his lower half pressing against hers insistently made her realize he meant his words.
Glaring into his eyes, she forced a chuckle even while her heart was beating so wildly.
“So what? You just walk in here and demand that I cancel my wedding which is coming up in three weeks and I do it because I'm a lunatic.”
“No. Because you want me. You want me as much as I want you.”
As if to prove his point, he bumped the bulge of his arousal against her lower stomach, and a soft gasp she couldn't encumber slipped past her lips.
Still, she braced her hands against his chest, pushing him away unsuccessfully.
“Well I see that you're just as presumptuous and arrogant as I remember. But you know what? I wouldn't have slept with you if there was no desire, but what we had was a fling and it ended like a month ago.”
A corner of his lips tipped into a sardonic smile. “Tell me then, if it was only a fling to you, why did you leave so abruptly without even a goodbye? Was it because you were afraid I could very easily hold you back? Or was it because you were afraid you were catching feelings too quickly."
“Catching feelings, huh?” She tried to laugh again, but this time, it came out gurgled. “Adam, I'm getting married to Brandon in three weeks. I would've never gotten married to him if I didn't feel anything for him.”
At least that much was true. She did feel something for Brandon, but Lord knew it paled in comparison to what she felt for Adam.
“Oh, please." Adam growled. “You expect me to believe that two months after we spent a week fucking you met someone and have fallen so in love that you can't wait to get married?"
“Brandon and I... ”
Adam didn't give her time to explain, crashing his lips to hers. Eva desperately wanted to push him away, knew doing that was the best thing, and yet she suddenly felt powerless.
Powerless against the firmness of his lips. Powerless against the coaxing, gliding motion of his tongue on her lips. Powerless against the utterly demanding intensity of his mouth.
She opened up for him, his tongue sweeping into her mouth to dance with hers in a feiry tangle. He shoved one of his hands into her hair, his other arm wrapping around her, pulling her closer, deepening their kiss, sparking an arousal which's intensity made her kness buckle as her butt pressed against the sink.
He finally broke the kiss as if to let them catch their breaths. Before Eva could regain her senses enough to push him away, he stepped back, just enough to spin her around, causing her to face the mirror, her front pressing against the edge of the sink while his erection nudged against her ass delectably.
“Just look at you." He rasped at her ear, teeth nibbling at her ear lobe between words. “Your face is so flushed, your eyes are so dilated, and your lips look so swollen. You still want me and it's so fucking obvious. Cancel the engagement and the wedding.”
Eva looked into the mirror and saw a wanton woman with features just like he'd described. Oh shit.
“I... I don't..want you.” She dragged out breathlessly, wishing she sounded convincing even to her own ears.
“You should convince yourself first.” His fingers brushed her hair to the other side of her neck, his lips drawling along her flesh sensously, and she unconsciously arched her neck to give him more access.
A hand suddenly gripped her thigh, making her gasp as a delicious shiver raced up her spine.
The hand skimmed up, riding her dress up along with it as he massaged her thighs softly, eliciting soft moans from her.
His other hand rested against her stomach, then climbed up until he was playing with her breasts, squeezing and fondling until she was a whimpering mess as delicious sensations raced across every one of her nerve endings.
His light brown eyes which were flaming with desire met hers in the mirror, and she felt the intensity even then. “So beautiful. So hot.”
His hand climbed until it reached the juncture of her thighs, and a firm finger brushed against her sex through her panties. She gasped, unconsciously widening her legs apart.
“I so vividly remember what these panties are covering.” He dipped into her folds and grazed back and forth. “How tightly that pussy grips around my dick. I know you want me inside you again. Just call off the wedding."
“Well unlike you, commitment means a lot, and you and I both know that's something you're not capable of giving.” She managed to get out amid his adding a second finger to the manipulation on her core
“That was before." He said it so softly, and Eva's heart squeezed. Was he implying that she'd changed him? “Be mine Eva, and it's going to be only you.”
Eva wondered whether she could trust his words considering how he'd told her he loved the fancyfree lifestyle. But even if she could, she couldn't give in. For her mothers sake.
The thought of her mother seemed to jolt some control into her muddled brain. Bracing her hands against the sink, she pushed hard backwards.
When Adam stumbled away from her, she used the opportunity to ran out of the bathroom before he could stop her. Before he could change her mind.
Huurrying down the hallway, she stopped in the middle to walk normally just in case someone was approaching. When she got to the spot where it bifurcated into two stairs, she noticed someone about to climb on the one which led to where she'd come from and she quickly crossed over to the stairs on the other side.
Taking a deep breath as she scanned the several people downstairs, she began walking down the stairs. Spotting Brandon who had just began climbing, she quickly straightened her hands down her dress and then brushed them through her hair.
Brandon looked up, and his eyes stared at her questioningly. “Where have you been, Sweetheart? Dad has been wanting to go on with the announcement. "
“Just had to use the ladies. Sorry” She smiled apologetically at him even as guilt ate her insides. She'd just been kissing another man in the washroom.
Brandon nodded in understanding and stretched out his hand. Eva took it and he began to lead her down, crossing the hall until they were in the middle where his parents and her mother seemed to be waiting.
Brandon's father didn't waste any time to clear his throat. “Friends, can I get your attention, please?” His deep voice caught their attention, and several of them moved forward.
Eva stiffened when she noticed Adam walking towards the middle of the hall after stepping off the stairs, eyes boring into hers tellingly.
Brandon's father continued. “As you all know, the previous engagement of my son and his love and my soon to be daughter-in-law was cancelled. The reason was very juvenile and it was inevitable that they would come back together. After all, they've been together for more than a year now.”
Eva looked up just in to see Adam's lips parting slightly in shock.
