There is no fake

After that, my uncle forbid me from going outside for a long time. I was angry, of course, but after spending 10 years in that mansion it wasn't as tragic as it could've been. I was only sad that I couldn't meet my new friend anymore. That girl was only a kid, so she probably won't even remember me if we meet again after some time.

So, I returned to my normal tasks. I was learning archery, horse riding and some general information about the empire. Finally I was able to find out more about so called "goddess" Beatrice and Soul Stone. I put a bookmark where the prophecy was written.

"Guardian of the Empire, remember. No matter what you will only have one daughter who will be a saint. Once your daughter comes of age, she will be able to communicate with a great water spirit and bring rain to the continent cursed by evil"

As I read it, I was able to point out few facts. First of all, the prophecy didn't say the duke will only have one daughter. It said, one daughter who will be a saint. Which, in my opinion means that any other daughter will be "ordinary". But what can I know? I am just a ten year old with memories of an 18 years old!

I sat down on the floor. Does that make me... 28 this year? I shook my head. Let's not think about it. The past is past and it doesn't mean anything now. I should just live this life as I want. I looked through the window. The sun was setting and uncle still hasn't returned from him outing. I closed the book and put it back on the shelf. I was just a fake spirit anyway. Kiara was a real one.

I left the library and started walking around the mansion, waiting for my uncle's return. He said it's just the ordinary outing, so why was he not back yet? I needed to talk to him about the prophecy. Little girls are curious, aren't they? Naturally, I should wonder where my father and mother are. Maybe he thinks there's something wrong with me, since I never asked about it? Then, I remembered how uncle gently patted my head right before he left and told me to behave. No, he wouldn't think that. He loved me. I smiled to myself. And I loved him too, he is like a father to me. A real one. My only family...

Suddenly, I heard screams and a lot of maids started to run around the mansion. I wondered what the commotion was about, but I spotted Lucy in the crowd. When she saw me, she immediately run up to me and covered my eyes with her hands.

"Miss! You mustn't look! Let's go back to your room!"

"Why? What is happening?" I questioned but got no answer. I pushed her away and started running with the others. I heard her screams, telling me to go back or someone to catch me, but everyone else was simply too busy to pay attention to her. I went outside, and I froze in place.

My uncle, my gentle loving uncle was covered in blood.

The butler and two maids were holding him, carrying him back inside. I jumped towards them and took a hold of what was left of his shirt.

"Uncle! Uncle! What happened?!" I yelled. He looked at me. His face was pale, he was definitely hurt.

"It's nothing.. go back inside Cosi" He said softly, yet so obviously in pain. I hugged him. Oh gods, he probably was attacked on his way back... Oh gods, what if he dies? I'd be left all alone in this mansion...

"Someone take the miss!" I barely could hear what the butler was saying, I was too focused on my thoughts. Then, someone took me by the shoulders and forcefully dragged me away from my uncle. My vision started to blur, and I only then realized that I was crying. Someone, probably a knight, kept me away while butler and maids took my uncle to the mansion. When they disappeared from our sight that knight started to carry me to the mansion's garden.

"Take me to my uncle!" I demanded, hitting his chest. "I am.. a Lady of this house! I'll fire you!"

He didn't listen. Instead, we reached the garden and he put me down, where the pretty flowers grew.

"Breathe lady. Everything's gonna be alright" He gave me his handkerchief and wiped my tears. For around five minutes I was just sitting there, quietly looking at flowers when we heard footsteps from the other entrance.

"Who would've thought... Marquis Edinburgh.. would make a move..." a female voice said.

"Yes, especially after they took away our lady Rowena..." another voice replied.

"Hey! Leave! Lady Cosette is here!" my knight shouted and they pretty much ran away, only apologizing as their voices and footsteps faded.

"Lady? Are you alright?" he asked me but I didn't answer. Marquis Edinburgh? Kiara's grandfather? He tried to take my uncle's life... Why? My uncle didn't do anything... I almost dropped on the ground when I came to the realization that it was because of me. It must have been. Somehow, marquis found out about me. This body... More danger than safety. I shouldn't have left the mansion. I squeezed my fists together. He's going to pay for this. For harming my uncle.. Even though I just wanted to live a peaceful life... I just wanted to be happy. But he just couldn't let me live quietly.

"It wasn't your fault miss" the knight said, as if reading my thoughts.

"Then who's at fault?" I replied and turned to him. "Take me to my uncle"

"Yes, miss"
