K, another art thing is above, and I have to talk about SVTFOE episode "running with scissors" out of exploding feelings, so if you hate spoilers, either wait to read this, or skip over the chapter w/ sheer willpower. I'll give some room with space, and put my stuffs in the middle.

K, this must b good. So first:

My fan art ideas were wrong.... Ugh! I get why they made him the way they did, but jeez! Maaaaaaarrrrrrcccccccooooooo baaaaaaaeeee!

I guess his face is good, it just looks an awful lot like his regular face:

I mean, his face is more angular, he has a stubble (a defined lower lip too?) but other than that, it's mostly the rest of his body, and his choice in clothes that give the "grown up" appearance. I get that he's gotta be recognized by the audience, and the whole point was to be shocked after seeing a (at the time) faceless person who looks powerful, turn out to be Marco. Still, he looked... weird...

Maybe I would've accepted it if I hadn't seen how he was at 14, but his eyes are too big for an adult, and the nose and up (including ears) are pretty much exactly the same. It was so similar, that in the part where the scissors reflected his top part of his face, no one ever guessed that it was an older him.

See?! I know they wanna excite people, and distort perceptions, but it could've been easier to just NOT leak the image, and consider the design better.

I think the thing that most bothered me was the eye ratio. If you look at a lot of the other adults, they have smaller face to eye ratio, having the same size eyes as the kids.

Ex:

(I feel like the facial hair for King Moon makes it shaky tho, but I'm too lazy to find a screenshot of the camping trip where his hair's scalded off. It's late, somewhere in the world, so that's my excuse.)

Especially considering that Marco's dad, which you see Marco having most of the traits inherited from him, having one of the largest faces compared to the eyes. I realize Marco does have the shape of his mom's eyes, but jawline is a father to son, or mother to daughter gene, and that's the more important factor. It has been 16 years, as stated in the show, and that makes him exactly 30 years old. Sure seems like he should have his face be more

Yah, I'm just a random judgmental high school kid that doesn't even take art classes, and obsesses over knit picking over a show.

On to new territory. One word:
Starco.

Look at this and tell me there's not something going on here. That's right, ya can't.

I'm sorry, I'm such a downer, but... Marco has gone through a terrible loss that might not be addressed quickly. I can't help but recall how he said that 16 years had passed for him, AND that he had grown accustomed to his new life, almost wanting to stay as a traveler. I'm kinda curious to how a 14 year old boy, even one as smart as Marco, survived all that time, but a side from that, even though it was a journey that wasn't seen by us in detail, it was a long time.

Imagine being where you are right now, living the life as regular as it can be, if you don't like where you're at, imagine you do. Then, some friends from 5 years ago come to you, only they're exactly as you remembered them, age included, and they tell you you're in a dream, and you can choose to wake up, and live your real life. You can also choose to stay, but you leave behind everything you worked for, everything you've become, for a reset of sorts, but also remember it all. You decide to go back, for the sake of your friends and family, and you remember how boring your life was before. All that life wasted, because it was like it never happened.

Marco could get angry at Star and say something like, "To think I wasted 16 years only to get myself back in this mess!" And it is likely, Star not experiencing the time passing that Marco did, and it doesn't help that he's back to regular age progression. His thoughts have probably changed, but the world around him hasn't. That can lead to a dangerous mix...

Or the writers could be lazy, and not address it at all, only mentioning the part about the scissors, or something that'll tie in with the resolution of the plot, which will stink, and I will grudgingly accept.

Fandoms are weird; I get so frustrated with everything, yet I continue to torture myself with going on....
