80 | WEDDING BELLS

NAYARA ENTERED the wedding venue with large smile on her face. It was all a good break from her stress over how the life of Sharon ended. It seemed the time was just right. She watched Iris' father talking to Barry.

The brunette softly walked to the groom with a large smile on her face. "Hi, Mr.Allen." Nayara said with a large smile. Barry bought her into a hug before presenting her to Mr. West.

"She helped us plan the whole wedding." Barry pointed out.

Nayara shook Mr. West's hand and smiled at him. "Great to finally put a name to the face." Mr. West said to her. Nayara accepted the praise before he left, leaving Barry and her alone. The brunette wore a light pink dress that was picked by Iris.

"You nervous. I am nervous, hopefully everything runs smoothly." Nayara said to him. Barry smiled pulling her to give her a side hug.

"Oh come, cheer up. Your ship has finally sail. That's how fans say it right?" Barry asked her.

The brunette nodded at him. "Yeah, yeah. That's how it goes." Nayara said to him. "You haven't gone to see Iris, right? It's back luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding." Nayara reminded him.

Then she gave him a sad smile. "Or that's what my family used to say." Nayara said, turning to look at the heroes that were arriving.

"You know, you can always go back to where Emma is. I know we would never find a way to truly bring you back but if you want..." Barry began but Nayara shook her head.

"I wouldn't have missed your wedding for the world." Nayara mentioned to him. "I don't know if I have the guts to go back, and tell them what happened. X-Men are filled with so much power, and yet I have none now. I am afraid of what I might face." Nayara said to him.

"Or the someone?" Barry asked with a knowing look.

"That someone made it very clear that he didn't care if I ever came back." Nayara reminded him. She sighed, spotting Wally arrive with Richard and Bruce right behind him. She waved at them and shifted away to continue helping others to her seat.

"Congratulations are in order." Wally said to her coming up with Richard. Nayara's eyes landed on the two, especially on the nice dark blue suit of Richard's.

"Thanks. I am glad you two could make it." Nayara said to them, greeting them like old friends.

"Thanks for inviting me." Richard added. Nayara looked at him in the suit and she wouldn't lie: he looked very good indeed.

She bought herself back to reality. "Wally told me he was going to bring a plus on. When he said it was you I was very excited. Thanks for sharing this moment with us." Nayara said to him.

"I do enjoy good company." Richard pointed out to her. Nayara nodded at him, accepting the words. "I think blue will suit you more." Richard said to her. Nayara couldn't help but smile in return.

"You are just a little bit biased." Nayara pointed out to him. She leant towards him with mischief in her eyes. "Although, I must say. I do love blue." Nayara whispered to him. Wally looked at the two curiously, shaking his head. "What?" Nayara asked him.

Wally sent a look to Richard, who motioned him to cut it out. Not that he was seen by Nayara. "Nothing. Just....I never gathered you two will eventually, you know." Wally said with a smirk in his eyes.

"Be friends?" Nayara questioned him, but she knew what he inferred. However, she had done relationships with heroes and knew that one could never intervene with the love of their lives. Currently, Richard's love was no other Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl. Or so she thought.

"Yeah, friends." Richard said to him, but Wally didn't believe him.

Nayara spotted Kara Danvers entering, and she smiled from ear to ear. "I will go and check in with someone." Nayara said, excusing herself.

Wally send a smirk to Richard. "Can he seat next to us?" Wally asked Nayara. The brunette to him. "See, I just scored you first seats to seat next to her. You welcome." Wally said to her.

"She is seeing somebody." Richard pointed out to him.

Wally shook his head. "Nah, I haven't seen web guy for months. Right before she fought you know who. I just haven't seen her smile like she does since he left." Wally

"What do you mean he left?" Richard asked him.

Wally paled, remembering Nayara's secret. "I can't say. I slipped up." Wally answered. Richard frowned even more, wondering if that is what created such doubt in Nayara and all her grief. "It's not my secret to tell." Wally reminded him.

. . .

Nayara smiled at the sight of Iris walking down the aisle. A sickening feeling was in heart, picturing Peter in the altar. However she bought herself to the presence when Wally held her hand and squeezed it in excitement.

"We are here to unite in holy matrimony Barry Allen and Iris West." The officiant said.

BOOM!

Nayara was pulled on to the floor by Richard. The brunette looked up to see some military graded men entering the building. "Please tell me you got a suit under that thing." Nayara whispered to him.

"I got this." Richard said, putting on his own mask. However before he could reply Nayara was taken out of his arms in a flash.

CRASH!

Nayara's back hit the wall roughly. In front of her was a man in a yellow Flash suit and she knew she had met her death. His eyes were red just like the lighting symbol. "Well, you are new." He said to her.

However, Nayara quickly hit him with her own shield, causing him to let go. But he used his powers to hold her arm back with one hand. Then with the other he moved towards her chest, about to remove her heart when...

BANG!

He fell to the ground being tackled by Barry. Nayara felt like she could finally breath after that moment.

"Hello Barry." Reverse Flash said to him, taunting him. The two of them moved around the room so fast she couldn't see it. But she spotted the purple suit of Huntress near by. She raised an arrow, but couldn't aim.

So Nayara helped by yelling Barry's name who noticed the arrow and he moved. Helena's arrow hit Reverse Flash on the chest. He fell to the ground, holding his chest. "Did you kill him?" Barry asked Huntress.

"Put him to sleep, and neutralized his powers. Took a copy from Sharon." Huntress said to them, but especially to Nayara.

"Hey, I am not complaining she saved my life." Nayara said looking at Barry. "Barry, Flash, Huntress." She said, presenting each other. "Now we got people to fight." She said, fixing her dress to go back to the main room.

Barry picked up Reverse Flash and left. While Nayara made her way to the main room. She groaned in annoyance at the destroyed center pieces.

"Tell me why we didn't hire security?" Nayara asked Barry before he flashed back to her side.

"Do you really need it with a room full of heroes?" Barry questioned her. Nayara threw her shield at an attacked and used the magnet on her wrist to pull it back. "Since when have you gotten so good with it." Barry said to her.

"Bruce lets me practice outside." Nayara said before hitting someone else with a shield. She then avoided an arrow shot her way.

Wait, an arrow?

The brunette looked up to see a man in black point another at her. But a set of laser eyes blew him away. Superman.

This smelled funny and she knew it. However, she fought her own way through. Nayara punched her last villain and turned just to avoid one dagger going her way. Then an arrow shot towards the attacker, a purple arrow. Huntress moved so she will stand back to back with her in case there was another attack.

"Was in the neighborhood?" Nayara whispered to her, seeing some of the people that attacked flee.

"I had been tracking down someone. They led me here." Huntress said, putting her bow down. Nayara turned to where Bruce was, looking at the two of them. "I think that's my queue to go." Huntress said to her sending her a brief nod towards her.

"Please don't tell me it was Illusion." Nayara said to her.

"It wasn't. Someone else used the some portal to crash here. The one in STAR LABS." Helena warned her before leaving. "I set up a reading incase the threat from my world came here. Apparently, I just needed to ask kindly to Cisco who said to keep it secret after I mentioned you." Helena informed her. Then she left, leaving Nayara with a large question: Who had possibly come?

. . .

Nayara looked down at her ruined dress, knowing she will need to change for the after party. Which hopefully will be much better.

"You held your own." Richard said, coming to her side. He had his mask off. "I saw Wally remove all the non-hero guests back to safety. Nobody will know." Richard pointed out to her.

"Is it bad that I actually enjoyed this dress?" Nayara said, looking down it sadly. Richard smiled at her, looking her over without shame. This Nayara blush.

"I think it still stands. Despite the broken pieces." Richard answered. "It suits you." He added. Nayara smiled, seeing Barry approach them.

"How is Iris?" Nayara asked him.

"Safe, with Kara at the moment. We think of suspending the wedding." Barry said to her. Nayara got quiet, thinking over it.

"I think we should continue the wedding." Nayara said, sending a knowing look to Barry. "Come on, it's now or never. You never know when somebody else might come up." Nayara said to him.

Barry looked at the remaining people, the League and some members of the Titans. "You sure about this?" Barry asked them.

"We not going anywhere." Wally said to him.

. . .

Nayara looked at the guest from the sidelines. The party was going smoothly and she was beyond proud. However her mind went back to the one person who she would have liked to share this moment with. The other invite sat still in her dresser, unopened.

Richard from a distance looked at Nayara curiously, seeing the sadness in her eyes. He put his drink aside and made her way to her side. "You did an amazing job." He pointed out, smiling at her.

"Thanks." Nayara said but the smile didn't reach her eyes. She hated the sadness she felt, because it seemed like it ruined the wedding. Richard wore a tux that seemed to fit him perfectly, but Nayara's attention was off seeing the couples on the dance floor. Oliver was dancing with Dinah while Clark was with Lois.

Richard looked at her as he raised his hand towards her. "Dance with me?" He asked her.

Nayara was more than surprised at him. So he repeated the question. "It will help you take the mind off things. Whatever worries you." Richard pointed out to her.

Nayara looked at him with a genuine smile. "Okay. Lead the way." Nayara said, accepting his hand. Richard lead her to the dance floor, and easily twirled her around. Nayara let out a delighted smile. However soon it died down when Peter's words returned to her. I don't care if you ever came back. Nayara frowned even more, but somehow Richard's eyes bought her to reality.

"What's up on your mind, Nay?" He asked her.

Nayara shook her head. "It's just..." She thought about it for a second. "I was supposed to have a plus one, but they changed their mind. About me, and about everything." Nayara mentioned.

"I believe whoever did, despite their reasons, is too stupid." Richard replied to her, before he lead her through the dance. A slow started and Nayara seemed more sad even.

"Everyone changes their mind eventually." Nayara said to him.

"I haven't." Richard pointed out. Nayara looked curiously at him. "I haven't changed my mind about you." Richard quietly added.

Nayara thought it was friendship, but she caught glimpse of something else. However she doubted it existed. "Yeah? And what did you thought? To run as far away as possible?" Nayara said as a joke.

"I thought you were worth staying for." Richard said, without a single drop of joke. This made Nayara heart swell.

"You worth staying for as well." Nayara confessed with a large smile. A genuine one. "You know, I have yet to visit Bludhaven. Maybe you can show me around." Nayara said to him in thought.

"I will be more delighted. Plus I heard there is this masked vigilante called Nightwing who you might spot every once in a while." He said to her with a knowing look.

"Who knows, maybe I will befriend him." Nayara said to him. Richard smiled at her, stepping closer to her. He did another spin and Nayara smiled once more. She looked over her shoulder, a distant look in her eyes as she thought.

"I was supposed to come with Peter here." Nayara said in thought. "We broke up." She quickly added. This seemed to shock him, but he hid it so well.

"As I said too stupid to let you go." He whispered in her ear.

"I am not surprised though. He did prefer red heads over me." Nayara said and ended it at that. She knew he meant it, when he said he should have chosen MJ. "I never stood a chance, and yet I gave it a shot." Nayara said as she thought.

Then Nayara thought of her own favorite red head, Barbara Gordon and grimaced. "Sorry," Nayara said.

"Why?" Richard asked.

"You dated a red head." Nayara said and quickly cover it up with a lie. "Or so I have heard." Nayara said to him. But Richard could care less about his past endeavors. Especially when the one he was interested was so sad. Whatever happened when she left from a trip to the Marvel Universe affected her. He saw something change, more doubt more than anything.

Richard pulled away, and still held her hand. "Let's get out of here." He whispered to her. Nayara looked at him in shock.

"It's the middle of the party. Nobody leaves in the middle of the party." Nayara whispered back to him.

Richard shrugged, knowing she just needed a chance in the scenery. "Come on, we will be back if you want to." Richard said leading her through the dance floor to the edge of the room.

Nayara looked back at Iris and Barry who were happy. Her job was done, and now she felt sad. It wasn't like they needed her anymore. "Alright." Nayara sighed, raising her dress more so she could walk more easily.

Wally stopped them near the entrance. "Where you two going?" He asked them.

Richard patted his shoulder as he continue walking. "For a ride. Have fun." Richard said to him with a small smirk. Nayara held back a laugh at Wally's face of surprised. "Come on." He said, letting her pass through the doors.

. . .

Nayara laughed at the joke that Richard just made.

"You know, I have never gone to the circus." Nayara said to him. "In Gotham, my dad took me to see once but I was very little, don't remember much." Nayara told him. This seemed to enlighten Richard, like she just gave him a million dollars.

"I will be happy to take you. I was part of the Flying Graysons. I still in touch with some who still work in the circus." Richard said to her. "Have you ever flown through a trapeze?" He asked her.

Nayara gave him a look. "No. Plus, I don't have any upper strength." Nayara said to him.

"That can be fixed." Richard corrected her.

"You know, I would fall and I know there is a net for it...but...I doubt someone will be there to catch me." Nayara said, thinking on her own life. The little people she knew and doubted Richard had the time for it.

Richard gave her a look, as if the answer was clear. "I will be there to catch you." Richard told her. Nayara saw the look in his eyes, pure determination. Her heart skipped a beat.

"Yeah?" Nayara asked unsure on what to believe.

"I will be there for you." Richard answered, almost like a promise. But she knew promises could be broken up easily. "You know, I am not him. I am not Peter." Richard reminded her, and he knew he needed to. Whatever damage he had done, he was going to fix it.

"I know." Nayara said softly, reminding herself of what she knew of the person standing in front of her. One that was charming sure, but he kept his promises the best he could. He also cared. "So, if I were to hypothetically fall.." She began with a small smile.

"I will catch you." Richard finished.

"I will catch you too, just so you know." She softly said.

"That I know." Richard said with confidence. Nayara let out a small laugh.

However her smile dropped when she saw an alert on STAR LABS. She frowned, before looking up to Richard. Huntress warning in her mind. She searched for the feed and saw Iris with her hand tapped behind her back. "I need to go." Nayara said to him with regret. She didn't know why, but she wanted to continue to stay with him here.

"I will drive you." Richard said to her, finishing quickly his food.

. . .

There was an eerily silence in the hall. "You sure don't want to stay back." Nayara whispered to him. They had alerted Batman and Superman but they were making their way here at the moment. Flash didn't pick up, and they will soon see why.

Richard looked ahead. "I got your back." He said to her. He had one of his escrima sticks in his hands.

Nayara got quiet as she got near the room where Iris was. Richard got there first, moving to help Iris who couldn't speak with the tape in her mouth. Nayara frowned at the sight of Barry on the floor unconscious.

"It's a trap." Iris said just as something threw Richard across the room. Nayara instantly put on the ring that was on her hand. It shone brightly and she felt its pull stronger than ever. She couldn't stop herself carrying since the League of Shadows attacked Wayne Manor. But she more than tempted.

Reverse Flash turned to look at her, and she raised her ring. However nothing was happening. Richard began standing up, but Reverse Flash took a hold of him. "This will be very fun indeed." He said.

Nayara panicked, looking down at the ring in her hand. You need to embrace it. Embrace it and you will save him. You will save the one you love. The voice of Queen Saphire said.

The brunette in her gut knew something was wrong. But she had to save Richard. I embrace it. I call to the Pink Lanterns. Nayara said in her mind. Then her vision blurred for a second. But in a blink in an eye a flash appeared across the room and Reversed Flash laid more than unconscious in the floor.

She felt relived but it was short lived because something was wrong. She felt the sudden pain in her hand before it flashed across her body. Nayara clutched her head as she fell to the ground in pain. Her breathing became ragged. Richard groaned and ran towards her just as Batman had arrived with Superman.

Then she heard it, the thousands of voices before narrowing with Queen Saphire. Let's be Queens together. Nayara yelled in pain as she felt her knees weakened.

"Nayara!' Richard tried to reach out to her. When he saw in her eyes they suddenly turned pink before closing, collapsing to the floor.

Richard remained by her side as the other two heroes approached her. "What's going on?" Richard said, seeing the ring become an even brighter color.

However before they could figure it out the ceiling shook. Then suddenly it flew off. Ahead was three Pink Lanterns and leading them was Zelda. "It's time. Don't get in our way." Zelda said to them.

Richard defended Nayara body but a blast shot him away. Batman went to him, and can only stand as they drove Nayara's body away.
