68 | IN THE SHADOWS

NAYARA SIGHED FINALLY getting a tracker that worked on Sharon. Using the Batcomputer and its system was something else. It was something that both Bruce and Alfred thought it will be a good idea. She hadn't answered Peter's call.

Her plan was simple, get back into the Marvel world and get answers. She just needed help from Batman to keep track of Sharon. She didn't trust anyone else to stand their ground.

"It will do you good, return to your world." Bruce said to her as he came out of the shadows. It was early morning and Nayara was full awake, the nightmares getting more aggressive, almost as if Queen Saphire was now closer than ever.

"Trying to get rid of me? It isn't easy." Nayara joked, seeing Alfred help Bruce with the suit. He was clearly with some injuries which weren't a surprise by now. Especially not to her. "I finally put the new tracker on Sharon. I need you to keep an eye on her while I go and drop off Spider-Man off to his own world. He real name is Peter and we...it's complicated." Nayara said to him.

"Going off world, I see." Alfred said to her as he placed everything when it needed to be.

"Something like that." Nayara said looking unsurely at Batman. "I heard the League of Shadows is back in Gotham." Nayara mentioned to him.

"And how will you know about them?" Bruce asked her.

"I know." Nayara said lightly thinking of Thalia Al-Ghul and she shivered. "You sure your hand wouldn't be full?" Nayara said to him.

"We will manage." Bruce informed her. As Alfred left he approached her. "You don't seem to happy returning back." He said to her.

The brunette looked ahead at the screen. "I...It will mean that I have to face Steve's death and a world without him. It's not something that I want to do personally." Nayara said.

However the piece was broken up by the sound of a motorcycle speeding inside the cave. The two of them turned around to spot a pool of blood passing next to the motorcycle. "Dick?" Nayara whispered as she ran out to help him.

But Richard Grayson AKA NIghtwing, wasn't the one hurt. The person he was holding was. "Red Hood." Nayara muttered as she saw the red helmet that was split in half. Dear God, Jason. Nayara thought."Are you okay?" Nayara asked Nightwing as she helped him with Red Hood.

"I am fine." Nightwing reassured her, but he questioned how she knew of Jason Todd's identity.

Bruce called in Alfred as they placed the body on the infirmary. The brunette clean her her hands and put on gloves as Nightwing removed the kevlar. She saw the injuries which weren't deadly but there was clear blood.

As quickly as she could Nayara and Alfred helped patch up Jason Todd. Nightwing just stood, seeing how Alfred mentioned what Nayara had to do to help out. She knew how to do stitches because of Steve.

. . .

Nayara was quiet sitting next to the bed where Jason Todd laid, his face still covered by the mask. She knew how secretive the Batfamily was, and for very good reasons. Plus, she was too.

Jason Todd began to stir in his sleep before sitting up. The brunette snapped her head towards him. The young man raised his gun towards her and she raised them. "You are in the Batcave, Nightwing bought you in. Bruce is busy but he will be back shortly. My name is Nayara Lilly." Nayara said raising her hands.

"He picked up another stray." Jason said to her lowering his gun now. He had heard the name before from Richard, whom he had told him about Sharon Carter. All so he could run surveillance on Carter.

The brunette lowered her hands. "I actually found my own around here. Not the other way around." Nayara informed him.

"So what? He convinced you to a bird or a bat?" Jason asked.

"Neither." Nayara answered, raising from her seat. She knew Jason had questions, but she didn't want to answer.

Jason briefly recalled some sort of brunette patching him up through his hazed state and figured it must have been her. "Why help me though?" Jason asked her.

"You are the Red Hood. You save people." Nayara pointed out. She didn't want to dwell too much on it. But it seemed that Jason clearly had more than one question concerning her.

Jason held back a chuckle. Nobody will tell how he saved people, normally it will be the opposite. But clearly she seemed confidence in that front and that raised some questions. "If you aren't a bird or bat then what the hell are you doing here?" He asked her.

Nayara stood up and walked towards the water. She poured some for him, before handling it to him. He sniffed it. "It isn't poisoned. You know you are in the Batcave. You can't be poison here." Nayara pointed out.

Jason stared at her, who seemed too calm at meeting him. Normally there is more fear involved. But Nayara had a special spot for the troublesome anti-hero. "You will be surprised." Jason answered her.

"Batman is not sort to poison." Nayara said.

"And why do you sound so confident in that?" Jason asked her.

Nayara shrugged. "I know stuff. I am a friend of the family." She smoothly lied. But Jason saw through it. However, if she really was a danger, she wouldn't have been placed here at all. Walking around as if she owned the place.

"Plus, I trust you wouldn't shoot me now. You don't seem the type to aim at the innocent. Not from what I heard." Nayara pointed out to him.

"What makes you so sure of that?" He asked her.

Nayara sent him a small smile. "I have faith in the Red Hood. Just don't tell Batman." Nayara said to him with mischief in her eyes. She adored the anti-hero before coming into this world and now she was trying her best to maintain her persona without revealing too much.

"I will let you rest." Nayara said standing up from her seat. "If you need anything just call. I know how to fix up those stitches and bandages." Nayara added before leaving the cave.

Nightwing approached him. "You looking good for someone who just got hurt." Nightwing said to him with a small smirk.

However Jason didn't match it. He frowned, looking at where Nayara left. "Who the hell is she?" Jason asked. "Is she a friend of ours?" Jason continued completely confused.

Nightwing stood next to his adoptive brother. "It's sure is mine." Nightwing.

"You haven't even questioned why she says Bats name like is a normal thing? Is she part of the League? Titans?" Jason asked him.

"Neither." Nightwing said.

"You got to have questions." Jason said to him. "She isn't the same Nayara that you asked me to help out?" Jason asked. Nightwing send him a look. "It is, and why have you been downplaying my entire vengeance and career to simple: you don't shoot innocent people." Jason said to him.

"Do you?" Nightwing asked him, and he shut up. "I didn't knew she knew who Red Hood was." Nightwing said to him. "But she keeps you on your toes." Nightwing thought of Nayara, the mystery that he still haven't quite solved. One he will die to do so.

. . .

Nayara needed some fresh air, and wanted to give Jason some space. He seemed very unhinged and probably for a good reason. The brunette knew his past and what had happened between him and Joker.

She stopped at the local plant shop, finding an succulent that might work well in her supposed spot on the Batcave. Or even a gift to Alfred, he seemed to like plants. As she was walking by, she heard distant sirens.

However, she ignored them. She stopped at the edge of an alley, only to hear a distant yell. She whipped her head around just to see two figures running towards the alley. Nayara recognized no other than Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn.

The brunette just froze on her spot, not wanting to anger them. However someone bumped on her in fear of them and the succulent got stepped on. The brunette let out a rusted groan picking it up with care.

However, it suddenly sprung back to life. It will only mean one thing. "Ivy?" Nayara said looking up to see Poison Ivy fix her plant before running away. She smiled feeling accomplished.

But once the cops appeared she got stopped by them. "Where did they go?" They asked her.

Nayara looked down at her plant and then at the opposite direction, and pointed the wrong way. All on purpose of course. The police carried on, and no one but the other two villains knew that Nayara had given them the wrong direction; allowing them to escape.

"Thank you." Harley Quinn yelled back at her.

"Good luck." Nayara whispered to herself watching them go. "Thank you for fixing my plant!" She added with more confidence.

"Let's get you home, shall we." Nayara said, making her way back to her vehicle.

. . .

Nayara of course didn't utter a word to Alfred. She now sat quietly on the living room of Wayne Manor. The brunette was quietly reading a book when she heard Alfred's voice.

"Mr.Richard, have you seen Mr.Bruce?" Alfred asked.

"No." Richard answered as he walked towards Nayara that was seating quietly. The former Robin smiled at her seating opposite to her.

Nayara looked up to him with a small smile. "Hi." She said to him.

"Hi." Richard smiling at her. "I was heading out to get some food. I was wondering if you wanted to go with me." Richard asked Nayara.

The brunette looked at him with a shy smile. "Sure." She said looking at him.

Alfred looked at the young woman who was reading her book. "Have you seen Bruce, Nayara?" Alfred asked the brunette.

"No. Isn't in his office though? He said he had a meeting in Wayne Industries this morning." Nayara said to Alfred as she closed the book. "Something is wrong. Isn't it?" Nayara asked the butler.

Alfred did not answer, but she could see it in his eyes. "Who is it? Is it Selina?" Nayara asked in a worried tone.

"No. I'm afraid there is no-one in particular." Alfred told her.

Nayara sat up and turned to face Alfred. "Did someone threaten Bruce? Because if that's the case then they will meet my wrath." Nayara informed Alfred. The Butler look at her in shock.

Richard kept her eyes on her while Alfred nodded at the young brunette who was clearly ready to fight anyone who wanted to harm Bruce Wayne. "There was just someone wanting to speak with him." Alfred replied.

Richard stood up, monitoring Nayara to follow him. Nayara walked to him, and followed him out. The brunette stopped when she saw a boy at the entrance of Wayne Manor. Her eyes watched him closely. Richard walked away for a second to get his helmet.

The brunette sent a small smile to the boy at the entrance. "Do you know where I can find Bruce Wayne?" The boy asked her.

Nayara watched him. "Who are you?" Nayara asked him. However before he could reply Richard had came back. The two took off leaving the boy who was searching for Bruce Wayne. As Nayara was mounting Dick's motorcycle, she could see someone she was not expecting at all: a tall woman standing in front of the gates. "Have you seen her before?" Nayara asked Richard.

Richard shook his head, keeping his eyes on the woman too. He turned on the engine and he took off.

. . .

Nayara laughed slightly at Richard's story. "So how were you able to avoid it?" Nayara asked curiously, looking at Richard.

"I just jumped off." Richard said, smirking. Nayara shook her head not being able to believe the story she was being told.

Nayara smiled lightly at him. "So that's what you resource to? Just jumping?" Nayara asked him curiously. "Aren't you afraid of miscalculating and hurting yourself?" Nayara added.

Richard look at her in the eye, shaking his head. "Sometimes falling is better. You have to be cautious but sometimes when you jump...you might surprise yourself when you find what is in the other side." Richard explained, looking at her.

Nayara looked down unable to hold Richard's gaze for too long. Richard smirk turned into a smile. "I guess sometimes the only thing left is to jump. To take a leap of faith." Nayara whispered to Richard.

Richard opened his mouth but was stopped by a voice. "Dick!" The red head said, approaching the two of them.

Nayara and Richard turned around to see no other than Barbara Gordon. Of course Nayara being Nayara knew the only red head who will call him that. "Hey, how are you doing?" Barbara asked giving a brilliant smile to her.

Nayara slowly pulled back from her leant position at the table that she had as she was talking to Richard. On the other hand, Richard did not dare to move at all. The brunette knew more than anybody about Barbara's and Richard's past.

"Hi...what about you?" Nayara said looking at Barbara. Deep down she was still getting used to seeing her live, right in front of her and not in the pages of a comic book.

"I am doing good. Just passing by actually." Barbara said to them. She nodded to Richard. "Hey, Dick." She said smiling at him.

Richard nodded at her back. "Good to see you." Richard said. "Barbara, this is Nayara. Nayara, Barbara." Richard presented them. Nayara smiled at her, not believing who was in front of her.

However a ping bought her attention to the text. Nayara looked down at her phone for a second seeing a text from Jason. How did he even got my number, Nayara thought.

Barbara continue talking while Richard's eyes were directly on Nayara. The brunette texted Jason back: I am out with Richard. What is it?

In a matter of second he replied. We got a situation. Some kid says he is Bruce's son. Nayara frowned looking at the text. She could not believe it. She did know that there was only one boy who was Bruce's biological son.

Richard switched his eyes to Nayara's phone. Nayara thought of her next words carefully. She didn't want anybody else to know the amount of information she knew about the Batfamily, about where she from originally. She sighed before writing back to Jason: I am on my way back.

But there was one question that was bothering her: Why text her?

. . .

Nayara entered the Wayne Manor, with Richard right her. The brunette looked at Jason who was motioning her from the top of the stairs. "Does Bruce know, about the kid?" Nayara asked him.

Jason shrugged at her. "No idea." Jason told her. "I asked him about it and he didn't replied." Jason told her while nodding towards the young boy. Nayara saw earlier.

"Please tell me you did not tell him that you were Bruce's adopted son." Nayara whispered to Jason.

Jason glared at her. "I am not his-" Jason was stopped by Nayara.

"Oh for god's sake, you, Dick, and Tim are all Bruce's sons. You can complain all you want, like any child will do, and ignore the fact that he raised you both to be the good men you both are." Nayara said to the both of them quietly.

"Dick huh?" Jason asked Nayara while sending a look to Richard. "Last time I check you were, Richard." Jason mentioned to Richard quietly. "Don't tell me you are into brunettes now?" He teased him.

Richard sighed. "Shut up." He whispered to him as he maintained his eyes in Nayara. The young brunette was calculating her next options. She knew who this young boy was, he was the remaining member of the Batfamily.

"I thought you knew where Bruce was." Jason told her. "Plus, I think he will speak to you more." Jason added.

Nayara held her breath for a second. "Why?" Nayara asked him.

Jason coughed a little, not wanting to admit it to her. "Well...you are nice....and people don't trust me." Jason answered.

Nayara smiled at him but seem hesitant. "Nice? I mean you are nice, you saved people for a living. You are a hero." Nayara replied to him.

Jason turned to Nayara and took her a couple of steps away from her. "I trust you because you are you. That kid isn't going to talk to a...to someone like me. He wouldn't talk to a killer, or someone who puts people in the hospital." Jason whispered to her.

Nayara gave him a sympathetic look. "You have a good heart." Nayara replied to him.

"Sometimes I think you put too much faith in me." Jason told her.

Nayara put a hand on his shoulder. "I will, always. You just have to get used to it." Nayara added. Then she took a look back at the boy. "If you trust me, anybody can right?" Nayara asked him. "You know I don't trust most people." Nayara whispered to him.

Jason send her a look. "Neither do I...You just...you just give...you just give an comforting air." Jason told her. Nayara held back a laugh an smiled at him, knowing that took him a lot of effort to say. "And you and Bruce seem to have the same mind...just you are more...kinder." He added.

Nayara shook her head. "I will call Bruce, he will most likely reply to me than any of you." Nayara took a few steps away, and dialed Bruce's phone number.

"Nayara?" Bruce said from the other line.

Nayara took a deep breath. "Bruce, someone came by saying it was your son. Jason called me in for this." Nayara told him.

"Alfred just say to make my way back to the manor as soon as possible." Bruce informed her. "I am on my way there." Bruce added.

"Okay, I will stay with him while you get here. I..." Nayara said to him, but stopped thinking of wether to take him now or when he got back about the truth of his son.

Bruce could see the hesitation in Nayara's voice. The same hesitation that signal the young hero's brain working on either a lie or a cover up. "Nayara? I know you trust me. What's going on?" Bruce told her.

Nayara bite her lip. "The question is do you trust me?" Nayara asked him.

Bruce frowned at the question. "I...I need to tell you something face to face. Okay...I just...I trust you with my life and you greatly trust me because you let me know your secret but this goes beyond the whole Batman thing." Nayara informed him. From distance she could see Jason looking over to her. "Bye." Nayara said before hanging up the phone call.

The brunette walked to the two former Robins. "I need you to give us some space. Find out when Tim is coming home, the last thing I want this kid to know is that Bruce looked over three other boys, before his own biological son." Nayara told him.

"Biological son?" Jason asked her.

"It's hypothetical." Nayara said to the two of them, but she knew the truth.

"And what are you going to tell him about you?" Richard asked.

Jason gave a sarcastic laugh. "The next Bat's protege?" Jason teased her quietly. Nayara rolled over her eyes.

"I will say that I am friend, which I am." Nayara said to the two of them. She took a deep breath before walking over to the boy she knew from the comics.

The boy she had seen earlier looked up to her from the couch. Nayara looked at him, fully knowing he could easily beat her in hand to hand combat, and kill her if he wanted to. "Hi, I am Nayara. We briefly crossed path earlier." Nayara said taking out her hand for him to shake. "What's your name?" Nayara asked him.

"Damian." The boy said.

Nayara nodded at him knowing the name. She relaxed a little. "Can I wait with you?" Nayara asked him.

He gave her a look. "Are you here to make sure I am really Bruce Wayne's son?" Damien asked her.

Nayara shook her head. "No. I just thought it is better waiting with somebody than by yourself. Or at least that's just me." Nayara told him. Damien could see the sincerity in her eyes.

Nayara started to walk towards the end of the room when Damien called her out. "I suppose the couch is for two people." He said to her.

Nayara nodded as she turned around back to him. She sat next to him but gave him some space. "How do you know my father?" He asked her.

The brunette smiled to herself. "He is....he is my mentor and good friend." Nayara answered him. "We met through a mutual friend." Nayara said to him.

"I would have asked you the same, but I didn't know if the joke was going to work." Nayara said to him. To her surprise Damian had a small smile on his face, but it only lasted for a second. "He was out in the city today. It takes a while to drive back. But he is on his way." Nayara informed him.

"Do you live in Gotham?" Damien asked her.

The brunette nodded enthusiastically. "It's my favorite city." Nayara answered.

"Why?" Damien asked.

Richard and Jason watched from a distance Nayara talking to Damien. From their spot they could hear bits and pieces. However, Nayara's answer will catch their attention.

"Honestly, the heroes. I had a dad once, and we always talked about the heroes in Gotham. I wanted to be just like them, help people." Nayara answered him. Damien wasn't expecting the sincerity of her answers, or even the time she took to actually listen to him.

All that honesty and she didn't ask anything in return, this caught his attention. One of the things he will never forget.

"Where are you parents now?" Damian asked her.

Nayara looked out the window at the trees. "Away." Nayara answered him. This made Damian quiet down. "But...I have friends who I know have my back. It's not the same, but it's good to have at least someone. I do miss them everyday." Nayara added.

Damian eyes landed on the floor, not replying to that comment. The two remain in a comfortable silence for some time before the main door opened.

Nayara stood up from the couch, watching how Alfred walked to open the door to Bruce. Nayara turned to Damian and took out her hand. "It's was nice to meeting you Damian." Nayara said holding out her hand. Damien shook it.

The brunette walked out of the room, and nodded at Bruce. Bruce listened to Alfred's whisper as he explain who had dropped off the kid. Nayara remain in the distance, watching how Bruce met Damian.

Nayara looked at both Richard and Jason before walking off to her own room at the Wayne Manor. She needed to see how she will explain Bruce the truth.

. . .

Nayara walked to Bruce's office, and she stopped at the door when she heard three voices inside the room.

"Master Wayne, with all due respect you don't know if this is true?" Alfred said to him.

Bruce looked down at his phone where he was talking to Damian's mother. "You should have told me." Bruce said as he turned on the microphone.

"He is your son. I thought it will be good for him to learn about his father. Maybe play him a visit." The woman said. Nayara knew who it was Talia Al Ghul. There was a clear mockery in Talia's voice. "He is well trained, maybe you could bring him along in your night missions." Talia said. "I have to go." She added before shutting down the call.

"Why now?" Alfred asked Bruce.

"Just...prepare a room for him." Bruce said through greeted teeth.

Alfred signed and opened the door to the study. Nayara waited for him to leave before walking inside the room. Bruce was standing on the opposite side of the room, looking out the window to Damian who was outside looking at his parent's grave.

Nayara remained quiet for a second "I know he is telling the truth." Nayara whispered to him.

Bruce looked at her from over his shoulder. "I also know that you are complete furious, but not at Damian but at his mother because she never told you. She never gave you a chance to be there for him on his first years and be a father to him then." Nayara said to him.

Bruce looked outside the window. "I know that you are furious because you got the biggest heart in this universe despite that scowl you sometimes have. No matter how much you complain about the difficult relationship you have with Jason and Richard, they are your family and you taught them well." Nayara added.

"I...I know I mentioned to you I am not from here. I am not, Bruce. Which is the reason why I know Damian is telling the truth. Because he will become the forth Robin, and Tim will grow into Red Robin." Nayara added.

Bruce turned fully around this time. Nayara felt a slight guilt appearing to her, should she have told him sooner? Will he forgive her for not telling her?

Nayara remained on her spot, quietly analyzing Bruce. The latter signed, noticing the fear in Nayara's eyes. Because just like Richard, he had grown to know Nayara over time. Bruce Wayne knew the true Nayara, the one who will risk her live for anybody, the one who had no one to have her back. The one who almost died protecting him.

Just like Nayara knew him, he knew her. "So you think it's true." Bruce said to her.

Nayara looked up to him. "I know it is." Nayara replied to him. Bruce sighed, nodding at her. "But please, just don't make a decision because I said something." Nayara added.

"Do you think I would?" Bruce asked her, forcing her to realize the needless question.

The brunette nodded at him. "You wouldn't." Nayara replied to him. "You would't because you wouldn't do something I just say." Nayara added, rolling her eyes.

Bruce shook his head. "I do listen more than you think. I trust your judgment, I don't normally do that for others." Bruce said to her. "And I am not mad at you, Nayara." Bruce told her.

Nayara was taken back by the statement. "I didn't-"

Bruce send her a smile. "You know me, I know you." Bruce said while he nodded for her to stand next to the window. Nayara took careful steps towards him. "You knew it like the moment the portals opened, didn't you?" Bruce asked her.

Nayara nodded. "He was the only one I hadn't met, but I didn't know the timeline I was in. I mean, it's hard to figure it out. I couldn't break the balance, I am sorry I didn't tell you before." Nayara said to him.

"I am sure you didn't know he would show up at all." Bruce told her. Nayara nodded quietly in return.

"I know he was out there, but I didn't know how he was introduced." Nayara replied to him. "I wanted to tell you in the phone, but I didn't know...I didn't know how you will react. I trust you as Batman, and to save someone's life and myself...but what if I knew something like this and never told you? I mean, I know how you would have reacted with somebody else, but not me." Nayara added.

The brunette looked at the graves of the Wayne. "I was afraid that you will hate me for it." Nayara whispered. She admitted it, she actually did it. "It happen once with...with my previous mentor and friend, Steve, and he hated me. I didn't want you to hate me." Nayara quietly explain. "I don't think my heart could take that much." She whispered under her breath.

Bruce shook his head. "I don't hate you." Bruce said to her. "If you are certain, then that's the confirmation I need." Bruce told her as he looked also at Damian.

"I know you would have taken him in anyway. You are not those type of people." Nayara said, telling the whole truth.

"I would have." Bruce replied to her. Now it was Nayara's time to smile. "I trust you Nayara. I trust your judgment...and when it comes a time that one of us falls, I trust you to become the hero Gotham needs. Never doubt that ever again." Bruce said to her as he put a hand over her shoulder.

"Trusting me with Gotham...that's a bit much isn't?" Nayara asked him curiously.

"Do I have bad judgment?" Bruce asked her.

Nayara thought of her answer. "Just say why you think." Bruce reminded her.

"That has actually gotten me in trouble before." Nayara replied. "That's how Sharon found out about what I knew." Nayara added. Bruce looked at her, and the brunette signed. "I was going to say that Alfred might answer, yes, I do trust your judgment." Nayara answered truthfully to him.

"Have you found out how you are going to tell him about the others?" Nayara asked him. Bruce shook his head. "I will give him sometime. Finding out your father is alive? I mean I do blame Talia for it. Am I scared of the League of Shadows, hundred percent. Damian, from what I know is able to kill an adult man with his bare hands if he wants to." Nayara said to Bruce.

"He was trained?" Bruce asked her.

"Yeah, I mean...his grandad is Ra' Al Gul." Nayara answered. "It's up to you now to teach him the right path of a hero, and trust he will do it." Nayara added.

"Thank you, Nayara." Bruce told her.

"You know I am here. Always will be." Nayara replied to him.

Bruce send her a small smile, which Nayara gladly returned. "Just...don't make me babysit him. I am scared of him a little." Nayara quietly added. Bruce chuckled, nodding along. Nayara then linked arms with him, giving him the support that he needed.

. . .

Richard looked at Nayara who was working on the Batcave. She was putting all the alarms against the League of Shadows. He was amazed how she could easily bypass Bruce's passwords with her eyes closed. Bruce was not bothered that much. He gave up long time ago when he saw the brunette could keep up with him.

"But really, why Gotham?" Richard asked her.

"I said before. I love the city." Nayara said to him. "My mother never got why. The same when she found out I loved Batman, even when I was still on diapers. She said, but it's too dark." Nayara mentioned as she ran analysis on Talia Al'Ghul in case she popped up in Wayne Manor.

"What's up with you looking at the League of Assassins." Jason asked, leaning on the keyboard next to her. He had a sour look on his face when he recognized Talia.

"Nothing. None of your business." Nayara corrected him.

Richard scoffed, but smiled nonetheless. "It's my business if I am the one that has to go out and save you." Jason said to her.

Nayara then turned her eyes to him. "But how do you know about the League of Assassins?" Nayara asked curiously at Jason. Richard watched the interaction in amusement.

"Do you know who this person is?" Richard asked either of them.

Nayara narrowed her eyes at Jason. "I search them up because they scare me...so what's your connection? You know something. Yes, you do." Nayara said pointing the batarang she was holding towards Jason.

"You going to poke your eye out with one of this things." Jason warned her, reflecting her statement.

Nayara scoffed. "I can handle this things in my sleep." Nayara pointed out to him. "Some sleep with a gun under their pillow. I sleep with a batarang." Nayara said going back to her computer.

"I would't try to avoid her questions if I were you." Bruce warned Jason in a joking tone.

"What you doing?" Bruce asked her, seeing her close the tabs.

She turned sharply to Bruce, as if she had been caught doing something she shouldn't. "I got scared so I set up a bunch of alerts, both in Gotham and around the Manor." Nayara admitted. She cracked so easily.

Bruce smiled down at her. "I bypassed your security." Nayara quickly added.

"Did she really?" Jason whispered to Richard, who nodded. "Even the question?" He asked him.

The oldest Robing shrugged in return. "She didn't even think about it, or to a guess. She just...bam!" Richard replied quietly back to her.

"But she isn't a hacker?" Jason asked in confusion.

"I heard that she found her way to the Batcave on the first day. Bruce took it to heart." Richard whispered back. Jason chuckled quietly, imagining the face of disappointed and shocked when Nayara made her way to the Batcave.

"He was bamboozled." Jason said to Richard.

'What you all laughing at?" Nayara called from her seat. Bruce looked over his shoulder at the duo.

"Nothing." The two of them say at the same time.

Nayara rolled her eyes. "Honestly, I would have expected a better answer from them. You trained them. Don't they know how to lie?" Nayara whispered to Bruce. He held back a chuckle, causing the two heroes to frown wondering what she had said.

"Do you?" Bruce asked her.

Nayara looked proud at the question. "I do. I am very clever when I need to be. I just never bother lying to you." Nayara admitted to him. Then she pulled up the information she was tasked to find. "Why bother with you? If you can sniff out a lie a mile away. You wouldn't be the world's greatest detective if you couldn't." Nayara pointed out.

"I am not..." Bruce began, and Nayara sent him a 'seriously' look.

"Bruce. You have many nicknames. Cape Crusader, The Dark Knight, which is my favorite, and the World's Grease's Detective. You might not were a badge but you got the brains." Nayara said to him. "But I also will like to call you a Guardian because you over all of us." Nayara admitted before going back to her work.

Bruce appreciating the gesture. "What's up with them?" Bruce asked quietly to Nayara. The brunette looked back at the two brothers who were whispering to each other.

"I think it was me. Richard was confused about some of the questions you put for security purposes." Nayara said to him. "Tim made a face the other day when I bypass your account for emergency. Like a complete face." Nayara said to him. "It isn't that hard of a question." She whispered to herself, but Bruce heard.

"You are in the computers tonight?" Bruce asked her.

"Yeah." She answered.

"Alright." Bruce said looking at the entrance.

"Damian is probably already inside the Batcave. Followed you all the way here in silence." Nayara whispered to him so only he could hear. "You can go now. I am okay." She said to him.

She could see the conflicted look Bruce had. "Unless you will rather punch some villains." She joked to him.

. . .

Nayara stood under the stars at Wayne Manor. She sighed, knowing her nightmares were now Sharon Carter related. But she also felt this pull towards the ring, a different one from before. It was as if it was stronger. As if her love she felt for Peter was powering up.

She heard her phone ring and knew she had to pick it up and confront it. It was what Bruce would have wanted. "Hey, Pete." Nayara said to him.

"You haven't picking up your phone." Peter said to her. Nayara sighed.

"I have been busy researching some stuff. I know how to get back to your world." Nayara said in thought.

"And leave Sharon here? You are finally letting go?" Peter asked her.

"Yeah. I think I am ready to go back." Nayara answered, even she lied. She knew she needed to comfort Steve's death, but she also needed answers about who Sharon Carter truly was. She needed the information.

"It's good to hear." Peter said to her. "I honestly just want to get back. I know it wouldn't be the same but there will be no war. We could go out and eat with Aunt May." Peter said and he continued making plans but Nayara zoned out a bit. She felt her gut clench at the thought of leaving him behind.

However it didn't meant that she will not go back to Marvel. Once the time was right, she will go back since it was her world. But DC was slowly becoming hers too, and she definitely will miss the Batfamily and wished to meet Batgirl with her own costume and even team up. But she doubted it will ever happened.

Richard walked behind her, hearing her end the call with some hesitation. "Thought you will be cold." Richard said to her, passing the blanket to her.

The brunette accepted it with pride knowing he cared. This was one of the person she really didn't want to leave behind, even if she didn't knew if they were fully friends yet.

She fixed her cap of the Boston Red Sox, which was a preset from Emma Frost. It was Emma's team after all. She thought back at how Steve had taken her to see Mets vs Boston Red Socks. Steve had bought her a Mets cap, and they had enjoy some drinks and food. It was a fond memory that she thought about a lot. Steve loved baseball....

"Did you knew the Dodgers used to be in Brooklyn, not LA. That was the biggest change of all for me." Steve said as they moved through the crowd of people. He pulled his cap lower, trying to avoid his face.

However Nayara smile with her mouth full for popcorn. "Not the entire change in technology?" Nayara said to him....

Nayara welcomed Richard to seat next to her. "I will be gone for a while. I need to drop off a friend in their home." Nayara said to him.

"Wally can take of himself." Richard joked.

Nayara smiled even thought her tiredness. "What you doing up?" Nayara asked him.

"Keeping you company. That's what friends are for." Richard said, even if he thought otherwise. "Where you going?" Richard asked.

Nayara got quiet thinking of her answer carefully. "I can't say." Nayara said quietly. "It's like Kent Farm but further. I will be busy." Nayara said, in case he came by. She didn't want him to search and not find her. Part of her really wished to be found.

"It's complicated, not like I want you around." Nayara said in thought. "Nor your friend Nightwing." She quickly added. This amused Richard, but Nayara couldn't reveal she knew his secret identity.

"I didn't know you were going for the Gotham Knights, a personal favorite." Nightwing said to her. The brunette smiled at him.

"My parents went from this team. Especially the woman took me in when they were gone." Nayara said in thought, but sighed knowing she might be giving off too much information.

"What was her name?" Richard asked her.

"Emma." Nayara answered with a large smile.

. . .

Illusion called her boss, Zelda. Who now stood landing a ship on earth. The Queen Saphire was waiting too long. The red headed woman turned to the hologram of Illusion. "Any progress made?" Zelda asked her.

"I tried getting her but she is getting more and more powerful. She is too clever. She is somewhere I can't reach. Not unless you want the Justice League under our radar." Illusion said to her.

Zelda frowned, looking a picture of Nayara. "We mustn't alert the League. Or our plan will fail. Do I need to remind you again?" Zelda asked her.

Illusion ended the call. Zelda turned to her main crystal, placing it in another bed of crystals. They sparked and then on the reflection appeared her dear queen.

"Zelda she is powerful I can feel it in my bones." Queen Saphire said to her right hand woman. "I can feel her breaking. Just one more hit and she is ours. Her soul is fragile and manageable. You have chosen well." Queen Saphire said.

"The ring chooses its wearer." Zelda reminded her. "I feel a change too my lady. I feel you closer than us, her love has given you power. It had be felt across galaxy from many of our members." Zelda said delighted.

"We just need one death, one death of the heart and she is ours." Queen Saphire reminded her.
