63 | TEEN TITANS RULE
NAYARA SLIGHTLY OPENED her eyes, filling her head spin slightly. She put her hand against the floor, feeling the cold concrete floor. Nayara sighed, calmly sitting up. She closed her eyes briefly, feeling slightly groggy.
Illusion smirked, watching as the girl moved around the small glass cell. "I would try to stand up slowly. It would be less nauseous." The woman said, coming closer to the cell.
Nayara frowned hearing the unknown voice. Nayara turned slightly around, watching how Illusion typed something on the edge of the glass cell, letting a small opening. Illusion, passed her a glass of water. "You should drink that." Illusion said to her.
Nayara put her hand up, dismissing the water. "No. Who knows what you put in there? I'm not stupid." Nayara said, looking at Illusion. "You talk?" Nayara asked, looking at her with a confused.
"We need you alive. So, drink the water." Illusion said to her in a harsher tone. Nayara smirked at her, thinking of a slight idea of how to escape. That cup of water was her way out. Nayara quietly approached it, but before she could grasp it, a hand removed it.
Sharon Carter pushed Illusion out of the way. "Are you insane?" Sharon asked her. The raven-haired woman nodded at her.
"Yeah, I'm. But you should look yourself in the mirror more often because you are insane as well." Illusion said to Sharon. Nayara let out a small giggle at the remark. It was good, she had to admit that.
Sharon looked at Illusion, ignoring the young girl. "Look, if you give her this...She will escape." Sharon said before walking away with the glass of water. Nayara looked at Sharon with a small smirk.
"You know...we don't we do an old school fist fight and see who wins? Find an end to all of this." Nayara yelled at Sharon. Sharon sighed, turning to look at her.
"You better shut up before I hurt you. I thought you were done when I found you the first time. But you got back up...this time you wouldn't. I will ensure it." Sharon said to her, coming closer to her cell. "And I will behave because there is not a single lake nor river near here. Neither are your friends. They are busy fighting crime." Sharon said to her.
Nayara sent her a smirk of her own. "You can hurt me all you want, but I will stand up once again. You know what Steve used to say? You get hurt, hurt them back." Nayara said to her, glaring at her. The water in Sharon's glass started to boil. Although, Nayara stopped at the sound of a new voice.
"You seem like a very calm kid. Not that difficult to collect." A voice said behind her. Nayara turned to look at no other than Slade who had a phone in his hand. Nayara glared at him, but inside she feared him. He could end her, especially if he find out that it was her who almost put him in the ICU when he attacked Kara and Clark. If Batman hadn't stepped in to remind her of who she was, she would have crossed that line.
"Well, you know....I'm quite smart so maybe that is why." Nayara replied to Deathstroke, keeping her eyes on him.
Sharon moved around her cell. "Not smarter than Luther." Sharon said to her. Nayara frowned, hearing the name. Illusion gave her a warning look, silently telling her to be quiet. Deathstroke approached Sharon. "What do you want?" Sharon asked him.
Nayara walked closer to the glass. She looked at Deathstroke curiously as he motioned Sharon to step away from the cell. "Luthor told me that you will help me with the extraction and clear the path. That's your job." Deathstroke told her. Sharon sighed looking at him, before patting his arm.
"I will help, just as he keeps his other end of the deal." Sharon said walking away.
Nayara smirked, coming up with a great idea. "You know, you should be careful Deathstroke. She killed her last boyfriend. I will recommend somebody else so you don't end up like him." Nayara yelled from her cell. Sharon held her gun tightly. Nayara smacked her hands on the glass in anger.
Illusion watched as the two stepped away from the room. She knelt in front of Nayara, carefully examining her. But the brunette just glared at her, not trusting the villain, something was off about her. She needed to find out why.
"The quieter you are, the better. I really will be annoyed if I have to put you back to sleep with all the nightmares." Illusion said to her.
"I'm not afraid anymore." Nayara replied to her. Nayara sighed as she walked away from her. She sat down, keeping her eyes on the floor. Deep down, she knew that it was a lie. The nightmares were still hunting her. She didn't need another remind of it.
The girl pulled her sweater closer to her, frowning at the situation she was in. As she put her hand on her sweater, she felt the edge of the batarang that Bruce had given her. She knew she did not had Steve, nor the X-Men to protect her, but she did know that Bruce and Barry will find her. She just had to wait.
. . .
Barry stopped in front Star Labs. He frowned when he saw Spiderman laying on the bed. "What happened to him?" Barry asked, as he sat tiredly on a chair. There was no reply, confusing him. Barry turned around to look at a worried Cisco. "What?" Barry asked him.
"We got a situation." Cisco said to Barry. "Nayara...I can't find her anywhere." Cisco told Barry. Barry stood looking at Cisco. "There was an attack by the same meta-human who escaped. We got footage of her taking an unconscious Nayara along Slade." Cisco informed Barry. Barry stopped moving.
"Where is she now?" Barry asked Cisco.
Cisco shook his head. "We haven't been able to track her down at all." Cisco said to him. Barry passed a hand through his head. "It is as if the entire system has been jammed." Cisco told Barry.
Barry sighed, trying to clear his head now that Nayara's life was on the line, again. "I dialed the number she asked me to call in case of emergencies. I talked with Nightwing and the Teen Titans, but I haven't heard back from them." Cisco informed him.
Barry looked at Peter who laid on the bed. "We got to wake him up. He might know something." Barry said to him. He paced thinking on his next moves. He needed to rescue Nayara soon. Cisco nodded looking towards the sleeping hero.
He sat on the computer searching for a way of finding Nayara but all his attempts were failing. Then he stopped, thinking of the one thing that Nayara had taught him: Batman has eyes everywhere.
He looked at the computer, knowing he had to reach out for help. Having another set of hands wouldn't hurt him. But little did he know that Batman was already on top of the situation along with Nightwing.
. . .
Nayara sat against the glass wall looking ahead. She watched carefully Illusion and Sharon. She knew that Loki will be calculating his way out if he was stuck in this situation.
Illusion walked to the glass wall looking down at Nayara. "How come a young girl gets into so much trouble?" Illusion asked her.
Nayara remained quiet and listened to her. The brunette had her attention on Sharon. She knew it was matter of time before Barry realized she was gone. Deep down she also knew Bruce will come for her because he was that type of person.
But her train of thought was cut short when Lex Luthor presented himself.
Lex smirked at her. "So this is the girl you are so afraid of Sharon." Lex smirking at Nayara. Nayara turned look at him. Nayara remained silent. "We got the prototype. Why don't you come with me and get it." Lex told Sharon. The blonde shook her head. "I am surprised you bought her alive and not dead." He said to her.
"She will be soon." Sharon said smirking down at Nayara. Sharon opened the door to Nayara's cell. She pulled up a picture of collar. However, Nayara doubted that it will be created in this world.
"You like it? It's meant for people with powers." Sharon added looking down at her. Nayara felt a chill run down her spine. Her mind going back to the thousands of mutant she had seen trapped and tortured, all while growing up.
Nayara took deep breath, slowly looking up to her. "I don't know what you are talking about." Nayara said with an assertive tone. Sharon smirked before punching her with so much force she fell to the floor.
Nayara groaned feeling the blood coming down her face. "Villains don't win." Nayara whispered to Sharon.
Sharon then hit her on her stomach, making Nayara groan in pain. The brunette looked at Sharon, her eyes not wavering. There was not fear, but pure fury in then. Especially knowing what Sharon's fate will be if Bruce got his hands on her.
Illusion walked to them. "Enough!" Illusion said looking at Sharon. "My boss wanted her alive. I will like to keep it that way." She told Sharon.
Sharon stepped away from the cell locking it. "You want to deliver her to your boss? You might have more chances once I give her the collar." Sharon said to her. Then she took a prototype from one of her bags. Nayara paled at the sight of it. She had seen it on the comics countless of times. "Someone else developed it. I just asked Lex for some help. I would have asked Stark but he seemed to be too tide to being ethical." Sharon said to Nayara.
Nayara's eyes changed completely at the sight of it. Sharon smirked at her. "I will destroy you. Piece by piece." Sharon said looking down at the brunette.
For the first time since she was taken, she felt true fear.
. . .
Batman looked at the computer, hating the fact he now had to use the tracker he had developed in cases of emergency.
He narrowed the tracker that he knew Nayara will be carrying with her at all times. He quietly sent the locations to Nightwing, who was already getting the team ready for pick-up. He stopped, hearing another call from the Justice League, too bad he had more pressing matters to attend to.
. . .
Barry stood quietly next to Peter Parker who laid on his SpiderMan suit. He waiting for the antidote kick in. He jumped when he saw Peter Parker shot up, clutching his chest for dear life. He looked around, not finding the brunette that had been on his arms hours ago.
"Nayara." He called out but Barry was already ahead of him.
"She was taken. I need you to tell me what happened." Barry said to him.
Peter closed his eyes, putting a hand on his head. "I....There...She was unconscious. Then there was grey smoke everywhere...I lost her." Peter told Barry. Then he rummaged through a small pocket on his suit and handed Barry the needle he removed from Nayara's neck.
Barry glared at it, reading the name: LexCorp. Barry turned to the cameras, trying to come in contact with Batman warning him about the dangers of the meta-human.
. . .
Nayara sat on the floor, a trail of blood running down her nose. Illusion appeared before her. Nayara watch her carefully, knowing that she was in no position to fight her. She now had to be smart. Smart like Loki.
She called the mention of Illusion's boss. "So, why would Lex want me?" The young brunette asked her. "Is he your boss?" Nayara asked him.
Illusion watched her carefully. "He is not my boss." She said to the hero, almost as if that will be an insult. "You wouldn't be getting out anytime soon. At least I have to keep you alive. I sent Sharon to get some food for you." Illusion informed her.
"She will poison it." Nayara told her, giving her a small smile.
"What makes you so sure?" Illusion asked her.
Nayara looked up to the glass ceiling, shrugging. "She is the type of person that will never end until I die." Nayara said to her. "Either that and I am not hungry." Nayara was quick to add.
Illusion walked closer to the glass, tilting her head almost like a snake looking at its prey. Nayara's eyes did not quiver. She had faith that she will be found. It was just a matter of time. "I need you alive. I will get you to my boss. It is someone greater than Lex Luthor. Something greater than this earth, this world." Illusion told her.
Nayara listened carefully. Who will want her alive? She didn't exactly had an enough connection to any member of the Justice League to even be used as a bait. So why her? Had Sharon finally shared her value? That came from another universe? But she knew Sharon wouldn't exactly would do that because it will mean that someone else will talk her so they could use her for their own plans of world domination.
The brunette then thought of a deal, one that would have made Loki proud. "Well, since you have to take me to your boss...I was considering that many we get to know more about you. If you consider it then I will behave more. Maybe will be willing to meet your client." Nayara said to her curiously.
Illusion smirked at her, nodding along. "I come from outer space...a line of royalty you should say. We feast on death and fear of others. I like to use my skills to pick up people for others. You are the first one they want alive. Normally I just kill them out of fear." Illusion told her. "You know, fear is a powerful thing, it can lead you to do reckless decisions. What do you fear, Nayara? Spiders? Well certainly not because you were hanging with one. Maybe a soldier who met his demise...oh that seems to hit you. Doesn't it?" Illusion said to her, leaning on the glass.
"Everyone has fears. What are yours?" Nayara questioned her.
Illusion chuckled at her. "You are smart one. I get why they want you alive. Really hard to catch too." Illusion said in thought. Then she looked down at her, standing right in front of the hero. "Are you scared of your loved ones? Dear, they will meet their demise unless you step up. That's the only advice I can give you...That and...Well my client has contacts, and means to help you. You will never have to fear anyone else." Illusion said to her with a soft voice.
Nayara shook her head, not wavering. "No." She said to her.
Illusion watched her down curiously confused at the deal that someone else will have taken. "What?" She asked her.
"No. Despite all the fear, there is always hope. Hope that I will hold on top no matter how afraid I am." Nayara said to her, her voice not wavering. Then she laid back down on the cold floor, thinking about Batman. The one who made her less afraid of the world. "A hero might fear the outcome, but they never give up." Nayara concluded before looking up at the ceiling.
However, that didn't eased her worry. Instead Illusion nodded at her, thinking about her next moves. If the brunette didn't feared her now, they she will go to other means. No matter the cost, she will become the queen.
. . .
Richard pressed some bottoms from the piloting seat. Kid Flash took a seat next to him, looking at the leader of their team. He was wearing his Nightwing suit, his mask hiding the determined look.
Kid Flash remained silent. "You never mentioned who we are rescuing." Kid Flash told him.
Bing!
Richard looked at the coordinates once more. "Wear gas mask. Flash said it was needed. Just do it." He answered.
Kid Flash flashed back, mask on hand. "Is there an extra?" Richard asked him. Kid Flash took out and then came back nodding. "Good." Richard said to him. They were nearing the location.
He landed the plane, and turned to Kid Flash. "We are getting Nayara, Wally." Richard whispered to him before heading to debrief the team.
Beast Boy sat quietly on the floor talking to Red Arrow. But he quickly shut up when he saw Nightwing's blank stare on all of them. "This is an extraction mission. We are extracting Nayara Lilly." Richard pressed a bottom on his wrist reveling an hologram with a photo of Nayara.
Red Arrow frowned, recognizing the brunette who defeated him in hand-to hand combat a while back. "What she is doing getting in trouble with Lex? Is he still bitter about the whole arrow thing?" Red Arrow asked him.
Nightwing looked at him confused. "Well, she shot him a while back. Green Arrow needed the help." Red Arrow added. Nightwing sighed, pitching the bridge of his nose. Of course she did, Dick said to himself.
Donna Troy raised her hand. "She seems familiar." Donna said looking at them. She stood next to Raven.
"You met her a while back. I bought her to the party." Wally sent to them quietly. Richard shared a look with him, thinking about the night he met Nayara for the first time.
Richard walked to the box of tools that sat at their own plane. He opened reveling a series of gas mask. "You wear those inside." Richard said to them, taking one for Nayara herself. "We are good?" Richard to them.
. . .
Nayara rested her head against the floor looking up. Now she finally understood how desperate Loki must have been when he was in an Asgardian prison. At least he must have been entertained at the other criminals on the cell. A small smile spread on her lips, thinking back at the God of Mischief. If he would have been here, she will have been out already.
Deathstroke stood near the glass jail, eyeing the brunette. "She is too calm." He said to Illusion. Lex Luthor walked back with Sharon nowhere in sight. "I don't think she should be this calm." Slade told Lex, nodding toward the brunette.
Lex walked to the glass, his back facing Nayara. Nayara smirked calculating her next move. She quietly stood up and then loudly hit the glass, causing Lex to jump out in fright. Nayara then went back to the floor holding back a smile.
Before he could threaten her, he was stopped by an alert on Superman. Nayara couldn't pick up that part of the conversation. Apparently Lex's nemesis had broke into one of his locations, ruining his upcoming plan.
Lex sighed in desperation. Then he quickly turned to Deathstroke. "Slade we will leave. The Man of Steel seemed a bit eager for my attention." Lex said to him.
The assassin followed him out, leaving just Illusion in the room. But that did not meant that Sharon was not around. On the contrary she was leading a small army that Lex had lended to her. She needed to make sure nobody got in or out.
Nayara closed her eyes, playing with the Batarang she had on her hand. But calm seemed to not last long in Nayara's life. Sharon walked up to her with a wicked smile. "Well, with no Steve. Who is left for you?" Sharon asked her opening the door.
Nayara stood up, walking to the edge of the glass letting the blonde play with the idea that she was scared of her. "Finally given up?" Sharon asked coming face to face with Nayara.
"Never." Nayara said. Then she pulled her own fist back and hit Sharon right on the face. Quickly she pushed her to the ground, punching her more, delivering all the hits that she could against her.
It was Illusion that had to pull the blonde away from the brunette. The raven haired woman locked the door before Nayara could get her hands on Sharon once more. Nayara hit roughly her fist against the glass. "I will never give up. You push me. I will raise up again. I will never give in to you!" Nayara spat glaring at Sharon.
Illusion watched carefully the brunette who had finally broken her calm demeanor at the mere mention of Steve. That was her weak point? Well, so be it. More people will fall, Illusion thought to herself.
Nayara took her place back on the floor, keeping her eyes glued to Sharon's bloodied face. Her hand went back to her pocket, holding the batarang......
Nayara sat at the steps of Wayne Manor one late afternoon. Bruce Wayne steps outside, and sat down. Nayara was not expecting it, knowing that if will clearly ruin his suit. Bruce passed her the small metal bat.
"You already gave me one of those." Nayara told Bruce.
"You have to look for the details." Bruce told her. Nayara looked at the bat, smiling brightly when she saw it her name was engraved on it. "You keep it with you at all times. It might help deliver a good punch or two." Bruce told her.
Nayara smiled brightly at him. "Thank you. It means a lot." Nayara sat to him.
........Nayara closed her eyes, recalling at the memory.
Sharon pushed Illusion away, and glared at her now with bloodied face. Nayara knew she will for sure get a pay back for that, but until then she was happy she delivered a good punch or two.
The peace was broken when suddenly an alarm went off. Sharon swore loudly, running to see what it was. Nayara opened her eyes looking at the cause of the alarm. But it was answered quickly when she saw a shadow up in the ceiling.
As Illusion took off to help Sharon, the shadow drop down. Nayara stood up looking curiously at Nightwing. She couldn't hold back her smile at the sight of him.
He inserted something to the panel next to Nayara's cell, waiting for it to open. However her smile soon died down when she saw the smoke coming towards him. She hit the cell, looking at her savior. "Mask! You got to put on a mask!" Nayara yelled at him. Nightwing listened to her without a second thought. He did it just in time to see the silver smoke appear around him, but he was protected.
Somebody went out to punch him but he avoided it with ease. Nayara watched with difficulty, trying to see who it was but nothing. Then she saw Illusion jump out of the smoke avoiding one of Nightwing escrima sticks. Nayara let out a small smile watching how he avoided another punch. Illusion was not quick enough for him and he delivered a couple of blows.
Then suddenly lighting started to surround Illusion, causing all the smoke to go towards it. A small grey tornado formed, clearing the air slightly. Nightwing ran back to the panel, unlocking the door.
He opened the door for Nayara. "Thanks." She said giving him a bright smile.
Nightwing helped her with the mask, keeping his eyes on Nayara's bloody nose. Now with the rest of the team handling Sharon, he could ensure that Nayara was out of here as quick as possible.
The two of them quickly made their way to the exit. Nayara stopped as soon as he did, clearly seeing the incoming agents that Sharon had called in. "Plan B." Nightwing said.
He pressed to his ear comm. "Go to the roof. Now!" He said to his team. Nayara followed his instruction without a second thought. Although, she got a bit distracted as soon as she saw Donna Troy fight alongside Raven.
Nightwing pulled her by the arm, pushing her towards the exit. She was quick to spot the upcoming guards. "You know I can deliver a good punch or two if I am lucky." Nayara whispered to him. Nightwing looked ahead at the guards. Then her eyes landed on the weapons. "But I am no bullet proof." Nayara quickly added.
Then on a blink of an eye Kid Flash was beside them. "I will clear the path." Wally said to them, smiling. Nayara was quick to follow Kid Flash, while Nightwing stayed behind watching for any incoming guards.
The brunette got to the roof carefully not finding her escape route. But deep down she knew Nightwing was not stupid. He always had a way out. Surely enough, he clicked something on his wrist and a mission jet appeared in front of them. The brunette sent a small smile towards Nightwing. "And here I thought you had asked Wonder Woman for her invisible plane." Nayara joked looking at Nightwing.
She quickly followed him inside, seeing him get the jet ready. In a matter of seconds, every single hero she had seen had loaded up in the jet. Without a second thought, Nightwing took off.
The brunette took off her mask once they were up in the air. Her eyes landed on Wally, who was eyeing her with worry from a distance. She opened her arms, and he crashed against her, giving her a hug. "Hi." She said to him, accepting the warm hug. "I think your friends are watching.." She whispered to him.
"I don't care." Wally whispered to her back. Nayara held back a laugh at his comment. He pulled away, nodding towards her nose.
"You should see Sharon." Nayara whispered to him. Then she turned to look at Red Arrow who was watching her. The brunette sent him a small nod towards him, thanking him for coming over. In return he looked at Nayara's busted knuckle.
"I bet you won." Red Arrow said to her.
Nayara sent him a small smile back. "Not entirely..but back up is always appreciated." She said to him. Red Arrow sent her a smirk before talking a seat near Nightwing. Then Beast Boy approached her with a tissue to clean up the blood on her face. "Thank you." She whispered to him. However, as she glanced back at Nightwing, she caught him looking at her already. He turned back around as soon as he saw her eyes.
She sighed, sharing a look with Wally. She leant her head back against the wall, her mind going back into Illusions's words. For the first time in the last couple of hours, she finally rested. With Wally next to her, she knew she will be okay.
. . .
The Titans exited the jet that had landed on the base. Nayara stayed where she sat, unsure of her next steps. Wally had stayed, wanting to make sure that Nayara was okay while the rest went back home.
However, before they could disappear from her sight, she called out to them. "Thank you." She said to them. It was brief, but meant more than Nayara could have imagined. Red Arrow sent her one last look before walking away with the rest of them too. Donna sent a wave to her as a thank you.
The brunette looked behind her shoulder at Wally who had an amused smile on his face. "Are you thanking heroes?" Kid Flash asked her.
Nayara nodded. "I mean, yeah." Nayara said looking at the speedster.
"Then what do I get as a thank you?" Wally asked her, teasing her.
Nayara smiled at him. "My company. I think that's more than enough...Thank you for coming....I wasn't expecting you. Maybe Barry but not you. So thank you." Nayara informed him.
"We are friends. Of course I was going to race wherever you are." Wally reminded her. Nayara almost broke down crying at his words. He pulled her into another hug, reassuring her. The brunette then looked at Nightwing from Wally's shoulder.
Wally was the first one to pull away. But he remained on next to her. He could see Nayara's hesitant eyes on Nightwing. "Umm...how far is this base to Central City?" Nayara asked Nightwing who seemed distracted with his own mind.
Nightwing turned to her, her voice pulling him away from his thoughts. His eyes landed on the bruise that had already started to form in her face. "Actually I could give you a ride." Nightwing said to her. "Flash is at Mount Justice right now." Nightwing added.
Nayara looked at him. "I could always ask Wally. I don't want to extend the help." Nayara said to him. Nightwing nodded towards the sit next to his. "You sure?" Nayara asked him. Nightwing nodded again, not saying another word.
Nayara smiled at him before sitting at the co-pilot seat. Kid Flash approached them. "What you doing? Are you dizzy?" Kid Flash asked her. Before she could answer Kid Flash's phone beeped signaling help on Central City.
"You can go. Nightwing will be giving me a lift." Nayara told Kid Flash. It seem that Nayara's reassurance was all he needed before running off. Once he was out of sight, Nightwing closed the door and took off.
Nayara watched up the night sky with awe. He was quick to spot this. "Thank you. For coming to get me." Nayara told Nightwing.
Nightwing turned to her. "You don't have to thank me." He reminded her. "Batman said to get you." He told her.
There was a small brief smile from Nayara, but soon died down. Following orders, she thought. But again Nightwing wasn't one to be happy when he got bossed around. He listened.
A silence settle between them. "I wasn't really expecting you to show up. I mean....I expected Barry but then again Lex said that he planned this so that the League will be busy enough not to intervene." Nayara told Nightwing. "It was a nice surprise though." She said the last part in almost a whisper.
Nayara kept her eyes on the sky as she thought over what Nightwing had said. Nightwing - even though he seemed to be looking ahead - kept his focus on her. He was quick to notice the quiet change that went through Nayara. One that was clearly caused by his words.
"If I would have known sooner I would have already been out looking for you." Nightwing told her. Nayara turned to look at him. "There was nowhere on hell I was going to leave you there." Nightwing told her.
Nayara considered his words carefully. Then she let out a quiet smile, which Nightwing noticed. Then silence settled again. But this time it was a more comfortable one.
. . .
Flash stood next to Batman on the hangar bay. They both looked like they had been through hell, but where there waiting for Nayara's arrival. Nightwing had not delivered a message back so there was no knowing where they were.
"What if they didn't find her?" Flash asked Batman.
Batman looked at him. "Nightwing will get her out. He wouldn't come back until he does." Batman replied, his monotone voice clear as a day. Flash sent him a look, seeing the blank face not changing at all.
The doors to the hangar opened, reveling the jet that Nayara had been on. Barry finally relaxed when he saw her standing with a small smile on her face. He could see the effects of Sharon's punch but she was good other than that.
Nayara walked to Barry, who quickly bought her into a tight hug. Nayara yelp in pain, crutching at the sight where Sharon had hit her. Barry pulled slightly away, but Nayara shook her head, going back into the hug. She felt at home, but in her mind all she could think was Illusion's words. What if Barry had gotten hurt?
Barry pulled away, looking up at her. But her eyes were on Nightwing, who was already leaving the jet. Nightwing could feel her eyes on him as he approached Batman.
Batman turned to her with his blank face, but she knew better. "I am okay. I have had worst." She told them, but more to him.
"You should go to the medical bay." Batman said to her. Then he sent a look to Nightwing, and Nayara quickly caught on the instructions.
Nayara followed Nightwing out, right next to him. "You don't have to accompany me. I mean you can just tell me where it is." Nayara said to him, keeping her eyes on the floor. She passed a finger through her blistered knuckles that were proof of the damage that she had done to Sharon Carter.
Nightwing opened the door for her, and she quietly thanked him. The brunette walked to the sink that was at the edge of the medical bay and washed her face. She accesses Batman's behavior, which was unclear to her why he wouldn't have just let her go with Barry. What if Sharon had inform the others about Nayara's origin. The one she had kept secret, trying to maintain the order of this universe.
Nayara took a deep breath, tightening her fist. She shook her head and took a seat on the medical bed, looking down at her hands.
A black gloved hand appeared in front of her. Inside it there were some bandages. Nayara looked up to Nightwing who was not looking at her. "Thanks," Nayara said to him, accepting the bandages. The brunette was about to say something else but stopped, feeling a bit weird saying it. He passed her a disinfectant to clean her wound. Nayara flinched in pain as she treated her wound. Nightwing sighed, seeing her trying to bandage her own hand.
He pulled up a seat and without saying another word he helped her. "I got experience patching up others. I know how to do it. You don't have to." Nayara told him.
Nightwing helped her, tightening the bandage so that it helped with the bleeding. "I want to." He said to her. Nayara remained quiet. Nightwing finished fixing the bandage. Nayara stood up and stopped at the entrance. She turned to look at Nightwing. Then she hugged him. "Thank you." She whispered, her voice trembling. Nayara quickly pulled away, but not before realizing that he had hugged her back. The brunette sent him one last smile before walking out.
. . .
One thing was pretty clear, people did worried about Nayara. The brunette was now back in Star Labs, seating quietly in one of the chairs as Cisco did his round up of injuries. "I am okay." She whispered to him.
Cisco looked at Nayara. "Barry was about to climb up walls." Cisco told her.
Nayara smiled at him. "He isn't Spider-Man." Nayara told Cisco. Her eyes landed on the person who had appeared at the edge of the Cortex. "Peter." She whispered looking at him.
Peter Parker stood at the edge of the room, looking at Nayara with tears in his eyes. Nayara thought he was injured. However before she could say anything Peter walked quickly towards her and bought her into a hug. Nayara smiled hugging him back. Peter pressed a kiss to the side of her face, holding her close to him.
Nayara pulled slightly back looking at Peter. Peter's eyes watered slightly. "I am sorry I failed you." Peter whispered to her.
Nayara pulled him back into a hug, holding him close. She relaxed into his arms. "You didn't fail me Peter." She whispered to him, softly passing her hand through his hair. "I'm okay Peter. I am here." Nayara whispered to him. "I am here with you." Nayara added.
"I love you." Peter said to her. Peter pulled away, looking at her.
Nayara gave him a small smile. "It's okay." Nayara dried the tear that left Peter's eye. "I love you." Nayara said to him. Nayara reached out, kissing Peter's cheek softly.
. . .
Nayara stood next to Bruce near Central City's main harbor. Nayara watched the seagulls fly freely. "You called." Bruce said to her.
"I keep getting into problems." Nayara told him with a small smile. She had some cuts on her face and the bruise was not going to fade anytime soon. "I know you probably got things to do back in Wayne Enterprises." Nayara added.
Bruce shrugged at her. "Well, that's more of Fox's job. I just pass from time to time." Bruce replied.
Nayara turned to look at Bruce, shaking her head. "Something happened while I was trapped with Sharon and Lex. The woman who gives people nightmares, Illusion, she needed to take me alive back to her boss." Nayara informed Bruce.
Bruce looked at her in thought. "She wouldn't say why though. She tried to play nice with me, giving me water and advice, but something seemed off. Why work with Sharon who wants me dead? I don't trust easily, just like you. You were a different case because I liked Batman." Nayara told him. "I need help from the World's greatest Detective." Nayara said to him with a small smile.
Bruce sent her a small smile himself. "I am not a detective." Bruce reminded her.
"Well...but what about.." She began, but Bruce cut her off.
"One problem at the time." Bruce reminded her. Nayara sighed knowing that to be true. "We will figure it out." Bruce said to her. Nayara nodded at him. Her mind going back at the collar Sharon Carter had mentioned.
"Right one problem at the time." Nayara whispered, looking ahead. Bruce fell into a comfortable silence with him, the two taking advantage of the peace and quiet. "I know you will come to pick me up, you know. You will always find a way." Nayara quietly added as she looked ahead. Bruce didn't anything, but she know he appreciated the comment.
. . .
The dark apartment room was mostly quiet. Except for the two women talking. One of them was Illusion. She stood in front of a hologram. "Zelda, I found the girl. She goes by the name of Nayara Lilly." Illusion told her.
The red headed woman from the hologram gave a wicked smile to Illusion. "Good. Have you talked to her?" Zelda asked told Illusion.
Illusion looked at her. "A little. I don't think she knows why I am here. But one thing is certain, she is more powerful than we had predicted." Illusion informed her.
Zelda smiled at her while nodding. "Well, I will send you a ship when we are ready. Queen Sapphire will rise again." Zelda told her before hanging up the intergalactic call.
Illusion looked ahead at her wall filled with evidence of Nayara Lilly. The plan will work, she was sure of it.
