62 | SMARTER THAN LUTHOR

NAYARA WALKED ALONG with Peter through one of the main streets in Central City. "So, let me get this straight, Kara is Superman's cousin. A man who is very strong, has x-ray vision and enhanced hearing and speed...but not as fast as Barry nor Kid Flash." Peter whispered to her as he recalled all the information Nayara had just told him. Nayara knew they might be here for a while so she knew she had to teach Peter about this world so that he hopefully would not get himself into too much trouble. Especially after his last meeting with Nightwing. If she was lucky, he will never have to encounter Batman at all.

The brunette nodded at him sipping on her coffee. "But the x-ray vision only stops if the substance between the thing and Superman's eyes is made out of led." Nayara said as she looked over her shoulder. Ever since she came back from Gotham, Peter had noticed the girl always looking over her shoulder. Peter tried to question about why she would do such thing, in which her answer will only be that she was fine.

Peter put a hand over her shoulder. "Hey, I'm not letting you get hurt. Not over my watch." Peter whispered to her. Nayara took his hand and pulled him away from the crowd. She stopped when they were in a less populated spot.

"I know...it's just that back in our world...well your world I knew what to do, and who to go to. But here I don't. I mean, Sharon was able to find a way to get to me here. An entire different universe. She will do anything to get her hands on me and the last thing I want is to endanger someone else's life...There are people here that I can't loose okay." Nayara commented to him.

"Is it about Barry and Iris?" Peter questioned her.

Nayara sighed, thinking back at Nightwing and of Bruce. Despite her worries, she knew Sharon couldn't possible defeat Bruce, but the other people, now that's another story. "I have enough dead bodies on my hands with Steve's." Nayara answered him. "It's not just them." Nayara quietly added.

Peter pulled Nayara closed to him, looking down at her tired eyes. She hadn't been able to sleep the past couple of days ever since Sharon attacked her, and the streets had been too quiet for her liking. "Who else? Maybe I will swing by and look after them while you go out and help Iris." Peter said to her.

"What I really want is going out patrolling, but I can't until Sharon is caught." Nayara commented to him.

Peter gave her an incredulous look. "Says who?" He questioned her. Nayara got quiet, knowing the answer. "My girlf...my friend wouldn't be refusing going out on a mission. Especially since I heard Cisco mention how you have team up with Kid Flash." Peter told her. "Plus, I will go out with you and we can...do whatever crime fighting you like to do. I think it's cool, you and me." Peter added.

Nayara sent him a small smile. "A friend who I will always listen to." Nayara said to him.

"Nightwing?" He asked curiously, sounding a bit defensive. Nayara laughed at him, shaking her head.

"Batman." Nayara corrected him. She sighed, thinking back at her last visit to Gotham. "I was targeted inside a hotel by highly skilled men. I was fine..but they were after me and they worked with one of the most known villains of this world. Him, I can handle. But Sharon is a whole different thing." Nayara told him.

She looked up to the street, seeing a young girl followed by her parents. She was wearing a Flash mask on her face as was 'racing' through the street. Peter followed her eyes to the family across from them. "If Sharon figures out a way to uncover my secret identity here, it will be chaos. I can't let that happen. I need to keep the balance here, just like in your world." Nayara explained to him.

"Is this your world too?" Peter questioned her, knowing her hesitation to leave DC.

"Is not your world." She said looking up to him.

"Neither is yours." Peter reminded her. Nayara sighed, looking down at the floor. "I am not saying you should leave this people. I will stay with you here, or back at....what you call it? Marvel?" Peter said to her. "But you keep acting as if that world is only mine, and not yours. When in fact it is already yours. Steve, Emma, X-Men, they all fought for you, just like I did. It became your world the moment that you touched everyone's lives, even if you can't see it." Peter added looking down at her.

"I can't have...I can't have more people gone, Steve. I wouldn't survive it." Nayara pleaded with him. "Sharon knows something is up and I can't....if I...If I were to loose you, I will be loosing a part of myself with you." Nayara whispered to him, tears already forming at the thought of it.

Peter put his forehead against hers. "Hey, Nay, look at me." He whispered to her. Nayara slowly looked up to him with tears in her eyes. "She has something you don't have." He added to her. Nayara sniffed a little, giving him a tired look. "Knowledge. You know more about this world than she does. That's how you uncovered her in the first place. Why don't you do the same here." Peter said to her.

Nayara sighed. "I don't know where she is. I don't have a friend who works in a secret agency." Nayara said to Peter.

"Put you can run a face recognition program that can alert you were she might be." Peter pointed out.

"She wouldn't be here out in the open. She is a good spy, Peter." Nayara replied to him.

"If you know her, why don't you use that?" Peter asked her.

"Because I don't know her well enough. I mean...if it was...I don't know...somebody else I knew well enough I could predict their next move, but her? I barely know her. I just knew what she will do to Steve and that she is the niece of the legend, Peggy Carter. Who also dated Steve." Nayara explained to Peter.

She quietly pulled away from her ex, looking down at the floor. But surely Bruce will have found something by now, Nayara thought. The brunette started to walk towards the small newspaper she knew was just blocks away. "Come on, you have to get a job, and I then have to go apartment hunting." Nayara said to him, hoping to change the conversation.

"You have friends here who can help you." Peter told Nayara. "I understand the whole, protecting the ones you love. I have been there...but you have to let others help you. If there is one thing that I do know is that these people around you want to help you, and you should let them. I made the mistake of pushing people away and it didn't work." Peter explained to Nayara.

Nayara sighed, shaking her head. "You are right." Nayara said to him. The two of them walked to one of Central City's most recognizable newspapers. "Did you take pictures of yourself saving others? You could have asked Kid Flash for a photoshoot. He would have said, yeah." Nayara whispered to him as Peter opened the door for her.

Peter let out a small laugh. "What?" Nayara asked him.

"I'm just having a flashback when you came with me to the Daily Bulge for an interview." Peter answered her. "You knew for sure I was going to get it?" Peter asked her.

Nayara let out a small smirk. "We all know how talented Peter Parker is." Nayara replied as she walked to the front desk. "Hi, we are here for the photographer spot. My friend here has some work he will like to show." Nayara told the receptionist.

Peter pulled out a folder which had all his photographs. Peter winked at Nayara before passing them to the receptionist. Nayara rolled her eyes as she watched how the receptionist took the folder away, but not before eying Peter out.

Peter shared a look to Nayara, who looked at the receptionist with a blank look. "You don't realize how good looking you are, don't you?" Nayara whispered to him. Peter blushing at her compliment.

"You aren't too bad yourself, hence why we were quite the attractive couple." Peter replied quieted to her, causing her to laugh. The receptionist quickly caught on the look the two of them share. "You could try a job here." Peter said to Nayara.

Nayara smiled at him. "I'm still trying to finish off my resume. As you can see I have been pretty busy trying to stay alive." Nayara said to Peter. The two of them stood next to each other silently without noticing the woman coming behind them.

It was Peter's spidey senses that woke him up. Peter looked at the woman with silver hair who was watching Nayara. In a blink of an eye the woman took out her gun and shot it.

Bang!

Peter pulled Nayara down for cover. The brunette looked over her shoulder at the silvered haired woman. "Not Sharon." Nayara whispered. Nayara looked at Peter briefly before pulling out the mask that was on her purse. She handed it to him. "Go, I will be fine." Nayara said to him.

Peter took off running the opposite way to put on his suit. Meanwhile, Nayara was quick enough to run towards the exit.

Boom!

Something hard hit Nayara's stomach, making her fall backwards. She looked up to see the orange and black mask that belonged to one man in particular. She swore loudly recognizing him fairly quickly.

Yep, I am dead. Nayara thought.

The brunette looked around her, and saw the fire extinguisher near her. She stood up, with her hands raised in surrender. Then in one swift movement she hit him with it. There was no damage done, but all she needed was a distraction.

Nayara then took off running the opposite way, looking over her shoulder at Slade who was following right behind her. The brunette jumped over some desk before hiding behind one of them.

She closed her eyes, and tried to calm herself. She needed to keep her head clear.

Step!

Bang!

Nayara covered her mouth, hoping to contain her worry. The steps were coming closer by the second, approaching her like a predator. The brunette doubted for a few seconds that will be Slade, until she felt the desk raise up in the air.

The brunette took off running once more, or at least attempted too. Slade took out his gun, looking at the running young adult. He loaded it up.

Nayara's air flew pass her face as she tried to run with all her power.

Bang!

Nayara fell to the floor. She held the back of her neck, frowning as she started to feel everything slowly fade away. From a far she could see the silver haired woman take out her wing, reviling the one alien who she had fought. The one working with Sharon. The woman knelt in front of her face, slowly moving the hair that had fallen on Nayara's face.

"You got to rest sweetie. A queen must not be tired. You will thank me later for this." The woman whispered to her, so that only Nayara could hear.

Slade looked at the young girl with a small smirk. "You are a hard girl to find." Slade told her. Nayara's eyes started slowly closing as she tried to lift herself up. Slade aimed the gun and shot her once more.

Nayara eyes closed. The woman stood up, glaring at Slade. "If you put big dose on her, it could kill her. I need her alive." She snapped at her before taking a hold of the girl.

"You clear the path, I will carry her." Slade told her before taking a hold of Nayara. The woman smirked at him. "Alright Illusion." Slade said walking down the hall.

Swoop!

Suddenly something sticky hit him on the face. The same sticky substance hit Nayara before pulling her away from Slade's arms.

The alien rolled her eyes, removing the sticky substance from Slade's face in one go. Once his eyesight was clear, Slade glared at the young boy who had Nayara on his arms. "Sorry, but you can't kidnap people like that." Peter told him before he started running down the halls.

The woman rolled her eyes. "Great. You let a kid take her. I thought you were a trained assassin. Luther told me you were more professional than Sharon! Turns out not!" The woman said to him before starting to run to the kid.

She sent one last deadly glare to Slade. "You wait for me outside, I will get a hold of her. I think this young boy hasn't met me just yet." The villainess said before running behind Peter.

Peter stopped in one of the rooms, putting Nayara down. "Nay, come on. Wake up." Peter whispered to her. The young boy saw the small capsule from behind her neck. He took it out, frowning at the sight of it.

Peter's sense started to tingle again. They did for a good reason. Peter turned around, looking at Illusion. Peter graped Nayara, slowly backing to the window behind him. "Come on sweetie, give me the girl. She really needs some medical attention." Illusion told him.

Peter calculated his next moves carefully. "Yeah, well...you don't look like a doctor to me so..." Peter said, stopping at the edge. "Goodbye!" He said to her before jumping out of the window. Peter shot a web into the opposite building. Illusion smirked at herself as she let the smoke come out of her hands. As Peter started to crawl up the building to safety, the smoke started to reach his legs. As he was about to come closer to the edge, a knife shot past it, cutting the web.

Peter tried shooting another web, but he had finally ran out. Knowing there was nothing he could do, he moved so that he would be the one taking most of the hit.

Boom!

Peter groaned as his vision blurred a little. He looked at the unconscious Nayara, who seemed not to notice a single thing. Slade came closer to him, raising his sword. He moved just in time to avoid being cut in half by it.

Peter stood up with difficultly, not letting go of Nayara for a single second. "You know what I do to spiders....I crush them." Slade told him.

"I heard that one before, buddy." Peter said, shooting a web at his hand, and then at his feet. Slade used his spare hand to remove it with ease.

Peter swore loudly, trying to figure his way out of this one. "I think you are confusing them with ants." Peter said before backing up, unaware of the smoke that was opposite to him. Illusion gracefully landed quietly behind him with a small smirk. Peter senses started tingly again, but this time, he could not escape the smoke surrounding him.

Peter tried to escape the opposite way but Slade punched him in the face. Then he took a hold of Nayara before Peter had a chance to recover. The web-slinger coughed trying to breath. Illusion smirked at him.

Raven haired alien knelt in front of his face, pointing at Nayara. "Thanks for being so nice and handling her to us. Try to climb up faster next time." Illusion said to him before covering his entire face with smoke.

Once Peter stopped moving, the woman stood back up from the floor. "You are ready Slade...We only got a few minutes before the distraction ends. Plus, I'm going out with Sharon tonight." The woman said to Slade. Slade open the door for her before passing her Nayara.

Slade entered the passenger seat, giving Illusion a wicked smile. "What did you do with the boy?" Slade asked her.

"I put him to sleep." Illusion said to him as she checked Nayara. Her clients needed her alive and well for what they had planned out for her. "You got a great future; the great queen will love you." Illusion whispered to Nayara's ear.

. . .

Cisco talked to Barry on the phone as he and the Justice League fought the villains who seemed to be on a stroll today. Illusion's distraction was working. Cisco sighed, when he saw Joe West was calling. "Barry, is Joe." Cisco told him.

Barry avoided an attack. "Okay, then answer him. I think I can take it from here." Barry told him on the phone.

Cisco reached out for the phone before answering the call. "Hi, Joe." Cisco said, moving his attention back into the designs for Nayara's upgraded suit. "How can I help you?" Cisco asked him.

Joe sighed, looking at one of the newspaper's agency at Central City. "We got a big problem with a meta-human" Joe said, looking at almost all the people who were recovering from the scare. Some had been slightly injured, all due to Slade.

"How big of a problem?" Cisco asked him as he continue to upgrade Nayara's suit. The white and blue colors made her stand out from the other heroes. He quickly tested the stealth mode on the suit, which worked like a charm. He chuckled, happy with the outcome.

Joe sighed, watching his supervisor talked with the mayor on the phone. "Big. To the point that they are willing to call the DEO." Jose to him quietly.

"I thought they dealt with the alien stuff. Not with the meta-humans." Cisco told him. Cisco typed the information on the computer, looking for the most recent attack. He frowned when he looked at the security cameras. "Oh boy....oh boy." Cisco said, looking at the woman who he knew had attacked Barry prior to all this.

"Do you know her?" Joe asked him.

"Yeah, she might have escaped from Star Labs a while back." Cisco said, looking at the security footage. "Why is Deathstroke working with her?" Cisco asked him.

"Well I don't know." Joe said to him as he walked closer to his car, he opened slightly the back of his truck, looking at the young unconscious hero. "But I have a masked person laying inside the truck of my car and I have no idea what to do with him He is dressed like a blue, red Spider. Is it one of yours?" Joes said on the phone, looking at the spider on the chest.

"Bring him to Star Labs." Cisco said as he reviewed the footage. He quickly caught something on the video. Cisco rewind the camera on the back, seeing for a slight second a brunette being carried out by Slade. Cisco ran the facial recognition system, hoping that his hypothesis was wrong.

It was not.

Beep!

Cisco sighed looking at the picture of Nayara that was on his screen. The facial recognition system had worked, which meant that the person Slade went to pick up was Nayara.

. . .

Sharon Carter tapped her foot against the floor. "What is taking them so long?" Sharon asked Lex Luthor who was calmly sitting down on his desk working on the collar Sharon needed. "Is the collar finished?" Sharon asked him, walking closer to the desk.

Lex frowned at her. "Do you really believe I can come up with it in such a short notice? It needs calibration, and a bunch of other stuff so that it would not kill her. I need her alive...not dead. What is the use of a dead person anyway?" Lex said to her before turning to work on the collar.

Sharon glared at him. "You want Superman dead. What use is of that?" Sharon asked him.

"Is a personal endeavor that I want to tackle. I will figure out the rest when it's done." Lex answered her.

Lex threw a screw away from the table. "I honestly know somebody who can dress up in a metal armor and can do this quicker than you." Sharon said, looking at the blue prints of the collar.

Lex scoffed at her. "Well, why don't you ask him for help then?" Lex asked her, stopping his work.

Sharon let out a sarcastic laugh. "Because he has too much honor in himself to create one of those. Apparently it's too unethical....are you adding the electric thing I told you about?" Sharon then said looking at Lex.

He moved around, showing her the details he had incorporated. "Yeah, with a limitation so that you don't end up electrocuting her too much. We don't want that. Right?" Lex asked her.

"Right." Sharon sighed, rolling her eyes. "We are running out of time. They should be here by now." Sharon added.

"We are not running out of time. I made sure that the Justice League are pretty busy to not intervein." Lex added as he added another chip into the collar's system. "Let's say that chaos will be blooming the next couple of days." Lex said before he saw the light of the collar light up. Sharon smiled at it. Lex seemed smart, but Sharon had bigger plans that what she lent on. At the end of the day, she was smarter than Luther.

. . .

Cisco dropped his pen when he saw Joe carrying inside no other than Spiderman. Cisco checked his vitals while Joe watched him. "Where is Barry?" Joe asked him.

Cisco turned to look at him. "He is out. It's like all the criminals decided today was a nice day to come together and enjoy the suffering of others." Cisco said with an exasperated voice. The scientist looked at the computers. "Have you guys found Deathstroke or the other woman?" Cisco asked him, looking at the footage of Nayara being carried away.

"No." Joe said, looking at the panicked Cisco. He was pacing around the room like a maniac, trying to come up with a solution. He was even talking to himself 'Nayara doesn't panic, no because she knows what to do...Come Barry, pick up. Pick up.' Cisco kept whispering to himself.

Cisco dialed Barry phone number, but nothing. The hero was too busy working all day. Cisco looked over the desk, looking for one number in particular. He knew that Nayara had giving him a small note in case of emergencies.

He smiled when he saw Nayara careful handwriting under some papers. Then he proceeded to call the Justice League. Nothing. Cisco then looked at the next in the list, frowning when he saw the name: Teen Titans.

Joe looked over the shoulder of Cisco. "Why do we want to call the Teen Titans?" Joe asked Cisco.

Cisco turned to the computer. "Because if we don't do it, Barry is going to kill us both." Cisco said, looking at the computer. "If we don't find a way to bring Nayara back alive, then we are both screwed." Cisco said, contacting the database.

"Hello?" Nightwing said, answering the call.

"Is this Teen Titans?" Cisco asked. Nightwing frowned hearing the question.

Nightwing thought for a moment before answering. "Yes." He answered. "Who is calling and how did you got this line?" Nightwing asked him.

Cisco sighed looking at a piece of paper. "My name is Cisco Ramon and I'm...friend-d....I know Nayara and she told me to call you in case of an emergency." Cisco on the phone being completely honest. Nightwing's eyes looked up on the screen, tracking the call. "I can't reach Flash nor any other member of The League and she made me swear to call this number in an emergency. It is truly between life and death." Cisco said on the phone.

Nightwing heard steps behind him. He turned to look at Robin approaching him with some papers. "Not now." He said to him, turning back on the computer. "What's the problem?" He asked Cisco.

Robin sighed, looking at Nightwing. "Hey! Can you just-" He was quickly cut off by Nightwing.

"I told you to wait a second." Nightwing told him, fully turning around.

"It's Nayara..." Cisco started but was cut off by Robin. This one muted him completely. Nightwing sighed at her his younger brother.

Robin smacked the papers on the desk. "Lex hasn't been seen in days! He has been on hiding, and there has been hundreds of shipments delivered to him two days ago. All with military equipment...all picked up by Slade and a woman which I can't find." Robin told him.

Nightwing looked between the computer at Robin, more concern over the mention of Nayara. "He is building a thing. I don't know what but there is something else....I was able to listen to a conversation between him and Slade. Something about a failed mission in Gotham, and they will do it better next time." Robin said to him. Nightwing ignored him. However, his next words made him freeze. "Something about handling some water that was the barrier between them the girl." Robin explained to him.

Then it clicked, the attacked in the hotel that almost killed Nayara. She had used her powers that same day. Her powers had bought her enough time to escape. Nightwing, turned to Robin. "Go and find Kid Flash, see if you can get a hold of Bruce as well." Nightwing whispered to Robin.

He quickly turned on the call, with Cisco already annoyed. "What is it?" He asked him.

"Nayara asked me to call you in case of an emergency. This is one. Deathstroke has her." Cisco said to him.

"We will handle it." Nightwing said, shutting off the communication off. He sighed, picking up his stuff before heading out. He was bringing Nayara home, will ensure that Slade will think twice before pulling a stunt like this.
