60 | NOTES OF THE DEAD

NAYARA HELPED IRIS with the breakfast. The brunette to forget about Peter and all her troubles and the best way to do that was working. Iris was hummed to a song from the speakers, while Nayara was finishing putting the plate on the table. Both Iris and Barry would be lying if they did not admit that the girl's arrival did not bought an interesting turn in their lives. Iris was happy to have another girl around and Barry was glad to have somebody who knew the dangers of being a superhero and could help him with tactics to fight the villains.

Ding!

"I will go and get it. It might be Wally." Nayara said, walking to the door. When she opened she was met by the one person she was trying to avoid, Peter Parker. "Pete." Nayara said, looking at him with wide eyes.

Peter looked at Nayara and noticed the leather jacket she was wearing. It seemed familiar but he couldn't remember where he had seen it before. "Nayara, hi." Peter said, looking at her in the eyes. He coughed, trying to think of what to say. "Umm...I came here to drop off what Steve gave me. He said you needed to have it. That's why I went looking for you." Peter said to her.

He handled her a letter. Nayara turned it around, recognizing Steve's handwriting. "Did you open it?" Nayara asked him, her eyes tracing the cursive lettering on the back. It had her name on it.

The hero shook his head, looking at Nayara's pained eyes. "I never did. I'm handling it to you just like he gave it to me...before he died." Peter said to her. He hated the fact that he needed to let her know, that he was the one reminding her that her mentor and friend was gone.

Iris walked up to dining room, quickly spotting the missing brunette. The woman then walked to the door to check on the girl. When she did, she saw Nayara talking quietly to Peter. Iris stayed back, thinking it would be best to let the two of them talk and step in when it was necessary.

"There is something else I need to tell you." Peter said to her. Nayara looked up to him, looking at his concerned eyes. "It has to do something with Theodore and Emma." Peter whispered to her. Nayara looked down at the hall before motioning Peter to come in.

She directed him to her room. The brunette closed the door behind Peter before turning her full attention to him. "I came here thanks to Theodore's help, but something happened before I crossed the portal." Peter said to her.

"What was it?" Nayara asked him, crossing her arms over her chest.

"The entire thing exploded." Peter told her.

Nayara looked at him confused. "What are you talking about?" Nayara asked him.

Peter looked down at the floor. "Before Steve died, he told me to give this to you. And that I need to make sure you were safe. Then I went to find Emma, knowing she probably knew where you were...and then I heard the news about Steve's death." Peter said softly to her.

Nayara hid behind her blank face. However the mention of Steve's death was causing her hands to shake.

Peter sighed, standing shoulder to shoulder with her. "He gave himself up, hoping the fight will end. Then he was shot and...." Peter began but she stopped him.

"And what?" Nayara mumbled under her breath.

"Died on his way to the hospital." Peter whispered to her. Nayara held the letter even tighter to her chest. "He made me promise him that I will give this to you no matter what happened to him. Those were his last words." Peter softly added.

Nayara took his hand, her eyes on the floor. She needed to ground herself to listen to Peter. Peter held her hand tightly, letting her know that he hadn't faced the same fate as Steve.

"It took me a couple of days, but I found them. I followed her to Theodore's secret lab. He had built this huge machine there. It was the one that bought me here." Peter continued. Nayara looked up to him curiously. "Emma refused to tell me where you were because she didn't want you getting hurt. She wanted to protect you from everyone else." Peter added.

Nayara sent him a bitter smile. "Of course she did..." She whispered to herself, thinking back at her guardian, her mother, and her protector. The one who gave her a home when she had lost everything.

"I convinced Theodore to let me through, and then when I was passing I felt my Spidey senses tingling" Peter told her. "Then he mentioned that Emma had come, and she had already crossed by the time I did. She needed to talk to you to warn you about something. She something was coming your way and needed to warn you. I don't know what it was. Then when I was about to go through, I...I felt everything tingle but I thought it was just the portal itself." Peter continued. Nayara looked up in worry, knowing that was never part of the procedure.

Peter sighed, looking down at the floor. "Someone had set up bombs on his lab. I judt didn't...I didn't pick up on it. I left Star Labs and went out looking for you. I haven't gotten far when I heard an explosion. By the time I got back, I saw you being carried away." He explained to her.

Nayara looked at him with wide eyes. "Did Emma cross before all this?" Nayara asked him. "That's what you said." Nayara quickly added. She couldn't bare another loss, especially Emma.

Peter nodded at her. "That was what Theodore saw." Peter told her. "But when I passed right after her I didn't saw her." Peter added.

Nayara's eyes widen, but her anxiety decreased. "That was because it wasn't Emma. It was Sharon Carter. She could have easily put up a costume and acted like her...but then that means she had been planning this for a while. Maybe she followed me when I was coming back from the cabin." Nayara explained to Peter. Nayara sighed, shaking her head.

Knock, Knock!

Nayara raced to the main door, her mind going back to what Peter just told her. But when she did, she was met by the green eyes of no other than Wally West. "Hey, Wally." Nayara said, looking at him with a small smile. Wally entered the apartment and stopped when he saw Peter standing in the middle of it.

Wally walked behind Nayara, keeping his eyes on Peter. Nayara frowned, looking between the two of them. "What are you doing?" Nayara asked him.

He nodded to Peter's wrist. "He might shoot me with those things he has on his wrist." Wally answered, looking at Peter.

Now it was Peter's time to frown. "I wouldn't do that. Unless you are a threat to Nayara or me." Peter said to him.

Wally narrowed his eyes at him. "I would never be a threat to, Nayara." Wally replied back. Then a small smirk appeared on his face. "And tell me, do you turn in a spider as well?" Wally asked him.

Nayara tried to hide the smile on her face. "Wally!" Nayara exclaimed, sending him a look. "Don't ask him that." Nayara quickly added. Wally gave a goofy smile to Nayara.

Then before the speedster could answer back, Barry walked inside his home. "Nayara, Iris...I...Hello?" Barry said, stopping when he saw Peter in the apartment. He looked at Nayara, who was quietly thinking what to do. "And....Peter.....Hi." Barry said, looking at Peter quite defensively. He did not want Nayara crying even more so than she already had.

Peter was quick to spot on Barry's annoyance against him, which didn't help his raising jeloausy towards Wally West too. However, like always Iris was quick to ease the tension.

"Barry, Wally come here right now. Breakfast is ready." Iris called out to the two speedsters.

Wally pointed at the brunette. "But I was talking to Nayara." Wally told his aunt. Iris sent him a look and he quickly accepted his fate.

Iris sent her a look, letting her know she will handle the other meta-humans while she dealt with Peter. Nayara sent him a tired smile, knowing it would be enough. Then she sighed, looking at the letter. "I'm sorry if I interrupted something." Peter apologized, looking at Nayara. Clearly he had stepped over family get-together.

Nayara sent him a small smile, before thinking of something. "Umm...there is an extra seat at the table if you will like to stay. It's just breakfast. Barry and Wally tend to eat a lot so that they can compensate for the loss of energy. I mean, running takes a lot of it." Nayara tried to explain.

She looked up to his brown eyes, fearing there will be some kind of hatred on them. "You don't hate me do you?....For breaking things up." Nayara mumbled looking at Peter.

Peter walked closer to her. He kissed her cheek with some hesitation. It was a simple gesture, reminding her that he still cared. He always will. "I love you too much to hate you." Peter said to her. "Do you really love me?" Peter asked her. He was dying to ask her what she thought this would be a good idea. Why break things up? Why was this the only option? But he decided against it since that will be another conversation. She had enough going on with Steve's news.

Nayara looked at him a sad smile. "I never lied when I said that I love you. I am doing this because I think it's the best thing for you. It is hard to explain, but I hope it will all make sense someday." Nayara said before going to the kitchen where she knew Barry and Iris would be. What surprised the brunette was how the two of them hid behind the door when she started to walk towards them. "What were you guys doing?" Nayara asked them with a knowing look.

"Just chatting." Barry lied, leaning in the wall. Nayara rolled her eyes knowing that Barry was a bad liar.

She shuffled awkwardly from side to side, thinking of her next words carefully. "Can....can Peter seat with us?" Nayara asked them.

"Of course." Iris was the first one to answer. Nayara gave her a thankful look before going to find Peter.

However, Barry wasn't as pleased. "Why?" Barry asked Iris, watching how Nayara walked up to Peter.

Iris smacked his arm. "Because that boy is by himself in this world, and he is important to Nayara." Iris said to Barry. "Now, chin up because we have guests. No deadly glares are allowed." Iris whispered to him. Barry sighed, following his fiancé out of the kitchen.

. . .

Nayara ate quietly her food next to Peter. "What is Iris' last name?" Peter whispered Nayara.

"West." Nayara answered without skipping a beat.

Peter then looked up to Iris. "This is great, Ms. West." Peter said to Iris. Iris sent him a smile to Peter. "It's delicious." He added.

"Well, Nayara help me out too." Iris said to Peter. Peter smiled at Nayara, sending her a wink only she caught on. Nayara couldn't hide the blush creeping on her cheeks.

Nayara smiled at Iris from where she sat. "Alright, soon to be Ms. Allen." Nayara replied, sending a small smirk to Iris. Peter looked at Nayara. "Iris is engaged to Barry." She explained to him, nodding to the couple that set opposite to them.

"Congratulations!" Peter told Barry and Iris. He sent them a bright smile that forced Barry to drop him annoyed face on. He needed to accept the kid wasn't as bad. As Nayara mentioned many times before, the two of them would get along quite well if they got the chance.

Wally decided to step in. "So, where are you from Peter?" Wally asked him with most of his mouth full of food. Iris sent him a look while Nayara just laughed.

"Queens." Peter said to him. Wally nodded at him. "I live with my Aunt." Peter added before taking another bite at his food.

Wally swallowed his food. "Cool." Wally replied to him with a smile on his face.

Then he turned to the brunette. "Nayara are you still looking for an apartment? Mine has an extra room and I wouldn't mind a roommate. I think you are better option that some weird dude. I tried finding one but it isn't working." Wally said before taking another huge bite of food.

Nayara's eyes widen when she heard Wally said that. Iris looked down at her food before looking at her fiancée. "You are looking for an apartment?" Barry asked casually. Nayara took another bite of her food, trying to stall her answer. She still hadn't broken the news to Barry yet.

Wally looked between his mentor and his friend, quickly realizing his mistake. "An apartment?" Peter asked Nayara too, wanting to know why she will need one here. "I thought you were coming back with me." Peter whispered to her.

Nayara swallowed the food and looked at Peter. "I can't let Sharon run around free here." Nayara said as an excuse even if it was the truth. "I will send you first. Queens needs Spiderman, not me." Nayara whispered back to him.

Peter took a sip of his water while Barry remained silent. "What about Steve? Emma? There are a lot of people who were worried about you." Peter said to her.

"Steve is dead." Nayara corrected him. "And Emma is better off without me. Look what happened to Steve? And in the world we lived in? I will be hunted down because of my powers. She doesn't need that." Nayara whispered back. She deep down also knew that if she would have stayed with Emma, she too would have been taken due to her telepathic powers.

Peter sighed, trying to reason with her. "Just because Steve is dead doesn't mean you don't have anything to come back too." Peter whispered back.

Beep! Beep!

Barry stood up from the table, but not before excusing himself. The former speedsters walked to the other room to accept a call from Cisco. Nayara's and Iris' eyes followed him until he was nowhere on sight.

Wally continued to eat, while he watched the couple silently fight. However, he couldn't hear what they were saying to each other. "I know that, but all this is bigger than all of us." Nayara added.

Barry came back to the table. "Star Labs?" Nayara asked him, already knowing what the call might be about. Barry nodded quietly at her, coming closer to Iris and her.

He kissed Iris before turning to squeeze Nayara's shoulder. "Be back please?" She quietly asked.

Barry sent her a reassuring look before turning to the other speedster. "Wally, we got to go." Barry said. Wally used his speed to eat what he had left on the plate before following Barry out. Peter was taken back at the sight, while Nayara seemed too calm about it all.

Everyone else finished the brunch in silence. Peter stood up to help Iris clean up the plates while Nayara made sure the dining table was organized.

Iris walked to the kitchen with Peter. "So do you love her?" Iris asked Peter.

"Sorry?" Peter asked her, confused on her worlds.

"Do you love, Nayara?" Iris asked him a bit more softly this time. "Because she loves you a lot, and a love like that doesn't always come. When you finally find somebody, you love with all your heart all you want to do is keep them safe and cherish them." Iris explained to him.

"Is a little more complicated than that." Peter replied. He thought back about Nayara staying, her conversation about him and MJ. There a lot of moving parts, he didn't mind one bit. He just wished Nayara will notice his love for her. How the moment she came into his life changed everything. "But, yeah. I love her." Peter answered her. His voice soft at the idea of Nayara.

Iris' phone beeped too. "I have to get this. But one thing...." Iris voice then turned into a more serious one. "If you break her heart I will not stop Barry when he finds out." Iris said before leaving the kitchen.

Nayara watched go to her purse. "Is everything alright? Why is everyone leaving?" Nayara asked her concerned, hoping it was something that it didn't had to do with Barry nor Wally.

Iris walked softly to her. She put a hand on her shoulder, calming her a bit. "They need me at work." Iris said to her. "There is this new reporter who found a great case, and wants me to come over." Iris added.

Nayara gave her a hug. "Okay." She whispered into the hug before pulling away. "I will keep looking at some arrangement for the wedding. I know that you and Barry are busy." Nayara added. Iris waved goodbye to her before closing the door behind her.

The brunette walked to the kitchen, seeing Peter do the ditches. "It's sometimes quite chaotic so having breakfast without Barry running off, or even Wally around...It is kind of rare. Barry balances it quite actually." Nayara explained to Peter.

But Peter wasn't concern about Barry or Wally. "You are really not planning on coming back, are you?" Peter asked Nayara. Nayara held her breath for a second, calculating her words. Peter saw it. The hesitation and the possible lie she was about to tell him. "Why didn't you came back to fight?" Peter asked her, stopping what he was doing so he could look at her.

She sighed, leaning on the counter next to him. "Because I made a promise to Emma. Steve knew it too, and he respect it. If I would have been there then it would have been me who she had to bury." Nayara answered Peter.

"You don't know that." Peter argued.

"I do know." Nayara replied. "How....how was Aunt May?" Nayara asked him, trying to change the topic.

Peter looked at her with softer eyes. She knew his girlfriend - actually ex - always cared deeply for his aunt. She once had given her a ride to their home on a motorcycle and Aunt May loved it. Peter was shocked to hear it from his Aunt but smiled nonetheless because he knew Nayara cared for him. Not Spider-Man, or the hero stuff, but him. His loved ones, his life. "She is okay." Peter answered. "What if I convinced you to come back? Would you do it?" Peter asked her.

Nayara shrugged. "I don't know. Right now there is a lot I have to figure out here first....and I'm not ready to say goodbye." Nayara told him. Maybe that was it, loosing and saying goodbye to Barry, Kara, Bruce.

Peter scoffed at her. "You were ready to leave without saying it the first time you left." Peter argued. He couldn't contain the comment.

Nayara looked at him with a tired look. "It would have been just for a couple days. I didn't expect the war to start this quick. There are a lot of things that I didn't expect to happen. When that happens, you just got to buckle up and face them." Nayara snapped at him. Then she took deep breaths, clearing her head. "I did come back to talk to you because I thought you deserved to know. Not because you were my boyfriend but because you were my friend." Nayara explained to him, bringing her walls down.

She frowned, all the emotions she had contained were about to break out. The fears, the loneliness, the worries, but she couldn't let it happen. "Do you think it was easy for me to just leave? Do you think I didn't worried about my loved ones? About you? About Steve? Of couse I did, but I stayed I would have gotten involved. I messed everything up. I told Sharon that I knew her plan and I messed everything up. I intervene and things break. I got involved in your life because now you don't think of MJ who is your soulmate. The one you made your life with, not me." Nayara explained to her, her voice breaking.

The brunette loved with all her heart, and she will continue to do so even if it means pushing him away. "Look, where I really come from...you were someone I just knew from stories, from pieces of paper that I read to let myself know the world isn't going to crush me. To remind me that I have responsibility to be good person, to stand for what is right. Because with great power comes great responsibility." Nayara said to him.

Peter stopped, hearing the words his Uncle Ben told him ages ago. "I have a responsibility to ensure your life and the rest of both universes remain in peace. I broke it and I got to fix it." Nayara told him. "I have a responsibility to...I love you, Peter. I know how most of your life unfolds..." She began but he cut her off.

"No, you don't! You don't know it." Peter snapped at her, tired of her thinking she could control the world. Control his life? No.

"I do! I knew Sharon was going to kill Steve. I knew he will die in this world and Emma forced me to leave before I took his place!" Nayara snapped back.

A cold shiver broke through Peter. "It should have been me! I should have been dead!" Nayara continue, raising her voice. However it quickly faded when she felt the weight of Steve's loss being thrown back at her.

"I know things, I know bits and pieces. But you need her, and I regret getting involved because I love you. I loved you since the day you picked me up in the side of the street. I...I liked you before we even met. For god sake you were the epitome of who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with! You were kind, and funny, and good! And you are so smart, and that is so hot!" Nayara continued, her voice changing from pain to love when she confessed.

Peter blushed at her last words. The brunette finally looked up to his brown eyes. "I regret getting involved because all of this would have hurt less." Nayara whispered to him.

Peter set the plates down, coming closer to her. "How do you even know she is my soul mate? What if she isn't? What if it is you?" He questioned her. Nayara sighed, looking up to him. "Things can change...did Steve expect her to kill him?" Peter asked her, knowing that wasn't how it was supposed to go. It was the reason why she had a target behind her back now.

Nayara shook her head. "Did he fought with her before all of this happened? Did he left her?" Peter asked her. Nayara shook her head once more. "Thing can change. Maybe the thing with MJ changed too. I don't want anybody else but you." Peter softly said to her.

He brushed the hair off her face, before resting his hand on her cheek. She leant into his touch. "Steve said to me that you were in danger. That if he could, he would have been here protecting you, but he can't. But I can. It doesn't matter if you don't want me, or if we are not together anymore. I will always care for you, because I love you." Peter explained to her.

Nayara was about to say something when Peter stiffen. "What is it?" Nayara asked him. Peter's Spidey senses where tingling. "The Spidey senses?" Nayara asked him, knowing the answer herself. Peter looked around for the threat, but he saw it when the door busted open.

Two men came inside the apartment followed by Sharon. Peter motioned her to be quiet.

"Oh, dear Nayara. Come out. There isn't a speedster not a Bat to save you this time." Sharon called out. She clapped, trying to get her presence known.

Peter pulled Nayara down with him, hiding her from the agents. Nayara eyes flashed to her room, knowing that a fire escape will be there. "My room." Nayara whispered to him. Peter looked at her confused before watching her run quietly to her room.

Peter took the mask from inside his jacket and put it on. He left the hiding spot before shooting one of the men on the face with his web. Sharon turned to him with an annoyed face on. "I hate Spiders." Sharon said to him, taking an aim with her gun.

She shot the gun but Peter avoided it with ease. He jumped to the roof, before jumping to kick Sharon's face.

Sharon wrestled with him, but Peter was winning. He fast movements and reflexes protecting him from her attack.

Nayara stopped hearing the gun shots. She reached for her backpack with the comic books, knowing that if it felt in the wrong hands it would be disastrous. Nayara stopped, looking at Steve's shield next to her bed. She quickly picked up, and looked at Sharon who was trying to shoot at Peter. She took an aim and threw it towards her.

Bang!

The blonde woman fell on the floor, holding her head. However, it wasn't the end of it.

Peter ran towards Nayara, and pulled her down just in time. The bullets would have hit her if it were not for him. Peter closed the door, before running to the window to open it. "Come on." Peter urged her. He took a hold of her before using his web to swing to the opposite building. Nayara hugged him as he moved her away from the danger.

When they were safely up, the two of them look down at where Sharon was. They watched how Sharon trashed the apartment, but something caught Nayara's eye: Peter's ticket out of her. Nayara was about to reach out and jump when Peter pulled her down. Nayara struggled against Peter's hold as Sharon escaped.

. . .

Nayara leant against wall opposite to Barry's apartment. Peter stood next to her, holding her waist as they waited for the police to finish their search. "How did you escaped again?" An officer asked her.

"Through the window." Nayara said, not looking at him. "And yes, I had been staying here because I was visiting the owners of the house." Nayara said, this time looking at the man. "Anything else officer?" Nayara asked him.

"Nothing." The officer said before walking away.

Both Nayara and Peter jumped when they heard someone call out her name. Barry quickly walked towards them. "I'm so sorry." Nayara said to him, feeling bad at the now damaged apartment, but that wasn't one of Barry's worries. "I promise I will pay for the mess." Nayara quickly said.

He scanned for any signs of injuries but nothing. Nayara could see him visibly relax. "I'm not concerned over the mess." Barry said to her. He looked at the forensics who were picking up bullet cases. "Those are bullet cases." Barry said, looking at them as they were being carried out sight.

"I would have called but the neighbors did before us." Nayara whispered to him.

"It might seem this might have just been a robbery gone run." An officer said, walking to Nayara. "Are you the owner of the house?" He asked her.

Barry raised his hand. "No, I'm." Barry said, standing next to Nayara. Nayara watched him tiredly has he talked to the officer. She followed him inside the apartment, looking at it with a sad expression. This was her fault. They were after her and look what had happened.

Peter stood next to her, knowing the look she had. "This isn't your fault." Peter said to her. He picked up the letter he had given her hours before, which had been forgotten in all the chaos. The brunette accepted it before walking to her room.

She sat on her bed as she opened the letter.

Dear, Nayara. I don't want you to blame yourself for what happened to me. I know you will, and I have done everything in my power to avoid it but sadly this is how it will end.

I didn't want things to end up like this. I really didn't. I wished things would have ended differently so that I could see you come back home. Or at least, see you go back to your original family because I know you will eventually find a way back to them. You are a smart kid, even if you doubt yourself sometimes.

Nayara's eyes watered as she looked down at the cursive hand writing. Barry was about to check on her when he was stopped by Peter. "She is reading Steve's letter." Peter said to him.

I know that you are destined to great things. So, please don't let my death stop you from doing them. You warned me about it, and Emma did too.

Before you came back, I was worried. Emma kept telling me you were safe, but there was no proof that you were okay. Not because you were my protégée but because you were my family. After I woke up from the ice, most of the people I knew had died. I felt like I had no one, and then I met the Avengers. I didn't believed that decades later after joining them, you will be dropped in the Avenger tower by Peter, claiming yourself to be lost and from somewhere else but here.

You kept things to yourself, but what surprised me the most was how you helped me with Bucky. You told me about it – now after I have thought about it – even if it risked revealing where you really came from.

Nayara pulled her knees up in her bed. She took a quick glimpse at the shield now seating next to her bed. Drawing her eyes away from the star and red, blue shield, she moved back to the letter.

You helped me. You risked everything without a second thought. That's why I decided to help you. I promised myself that I would never let any harm come to you.

That day when Zemo took us both and your powers manifested for the first time would be a day that I wouldn't forget. I saw the fear in your eyes, even if you tried to hide it. Feared even more when the threats against mutants began to emerge.

I remembered you recently when I was helping a young mutant escape the Sentinel Services. I always do. Because every time I see them, I am reminded of you. I remember your heart. How you will drop anything to ensure that everyone else was okay.

You became not only a protégée but my friend. While you weren't around, Tony will always joke about how your last name should be Rogers and not Frost. I will tell him that Frost was just as well deserved as Rogers. All because I know Emma is one of the strongest person I got to meet.

I know I never got to meet your real parents, but I do know that they raised one hell of a kid. The side I picked was to protect you, To give you a future where you wouldn't be scare to use your powers. A path in which you could decide to become a masked hero or not. If I didn't fight now, you wouldn't have had that chance when you came back.

Nayara let out a small bitter laugh, smiling at Steve's words. Barry watched sadly as the girl continued to read. Her sobs becoming more prominent as she read the letter.

You are a good, intelligent and kind-hearted. I know you will rise once again from this so that you could carry on the legacy of righteousness, kindness, goodness and freedom. I know you will achieve great things, and I will be proud of them too. Emma and your parents will be proud. I believe in you.

I believed this was the right decision, and I want you to understand it. I had a plan all along. Don't blame yourself for it. Please, I wouldn't ask for you to look after the Avengers and the rest of the world. That is too much of a job to fall on you. They can take can take care of themselves, they are grown-ups. Maybe Tony might need a bit of help here and there, but he will survive.

They can look after themselves, sometimes. Even if I am gone, keep the promises I asked you last time we met. Please. And don't forget, when dark times come, rise up and fight them. There is a reason why I left you the shield. I hope you carry my legacy.

One last thing, the reason why I wrote you this letter was to warn you about Sharon. She is after you. I know I would not be there to protect you, but I know Kara and Barry will. I know Peter will be there too. You are strong, even stronger than some people I know. Never lose that.

I don't want you to feel alone. Emma is right there waiting for you and Logan is too. And I also know that you have made great friends that will help you out and protect you from anything. You a strong kid and even through dark times are ahead, I want you to fight them.

I am so proud of you. I will always be.

With Love,

The man with A Plan, Steve Rogers.

Nayara closed the letter, holding her close to her chest as she broke. Peter moved aside, letting Barry inside the room knowing that Barry will be the best option at this moment. He watched him pulled Nayara into a hug, letting her known that the world hadn't ended. But it had for her.

She leant against Barry, everything crashing down on her. "He fought for me." Nayara said, crying.

Peter leant on the door frame. "Every single minute, he always thought of you." Peter said to her. Nayara looked up to him with tearful eyes. "He never stopped looking for you even when you were away. He just wanted to make sure you were safe." Peter added before walking away.

Nayara let out a scream, sobbing at the crushing pain her chest. Barry pulled her closer to her, holding her as she replay Steve's words in her mind.

. . .

A/N: Sharon, the ring, Peter. There are a lot of moving parts that are found at this moment. More adventures are to come for our beloved Nayara Lilly. Heartbreak too. Thank you all for reading my story. I always happy to read all your comments.

There are bonus content that I created that I wanted to share with you. If you want to read it, check out 'The Portal to Nayara Lilly's World | Across The Worlds Bonus Content'. I will be posting  shorts, imagines, edits and more there.

A while back I also created my book 'Batgirl Files - Meet my OCs' where I posted some edits as well. However, since I knew Nayara's content was larger than what I had originally had planed, I thought it will be a wonderful idea to create this new book where I get to bring you heartbreaking, funny and action-packed shorts from Nayara's life. Especially since a lot of it, can't fit in this story.
