47 | THE BRIDGE HAS BEEN OPENED

NAYARA SAT NEXT to Barry with a nice cup of coffee, looking at the blue prints that he had gotten from Lois' rescue mission. "I think Lex Luthor really wants to open portal to other worlds, which is interesting. I mean, I would have never thought he was into that stuff." Nayara said before sipping her cup of coffee once more.

"Did anything show up in the comics?" Barry asked her.

"No. Or at least, I that I know of." Nayara told him. She stood up pacing around in Allen-West living room. "Maybe...but no...Helena doesn't come into any of this." Nayara said in thought.

"Helena who?" Barry asked her.

Nayara froze from her spot. "Nobody." She said, her voice going slightly higher than usual. "So umm...how are the stuff coming along for the wedding?" Nayara asked, changing the topic.

"You are not changing the topic, Nay." Barry told her.

"I'm not." Nayara said, trying to act all innocent. Iris walked inside the room, holding a set of cupcakes. "May I have some miss future Allen?" Nayara asked sweetly.

Iris laughed, nodding along. "Sure." She said, watching as Nayara took a hold of one.

"Nayara, you are changing the topic." Barry told her, looking at the brunette who was happily eating her snack.

"Iris, I'm not changing the topic, right?" Nayara asked her. Iris nodded, supporting the girl. She had been hearing the conversation from the kitchen and decided to back up the girl even if she knew was a lie just to tease her fiancée.

Barry sighed, shaking his head. A knock caught their attention and Barry was quick to go to open the door. On the other side, Wally stood wearing a nice dress shirt. "Hi, Barry. I'm here to pick up Nayara." He told him.

Nayara walked to the door since she heard her name being mentioned. "For what?" Both Barry and Nayara said at the same time.

"A party." Wally said, smiling brightly at the two.

"I don't think I can go." Nayara said, looking sadly at Wally.

"Yeah, you can." Iris said, coming to the door as well.

"She can?" Barry asked, looking at Iris.

Iris rested her hands on both sides of her hips. "Because she is still a kid and does need to do superhero work all the time." Iris told Barry. "She needs a break from all that machine portal opener talk you two keep researching. It has been almost a month and a half." Iris told him. "Now you Barry can go and do it yourself, because Nayara is going away." Iris added.

"Perfect." Wally said with excitement. "Dick will be there." Wally said to Nayara. At the mention of that Nayara ran away to lock herself in Barry's room. Wally was left standing, frowning slightly. "I wasn't expecting that reaction." He added.

Barry looked at both Iris and Wally. "Who is Dick?" Barry asked them.

"My best friend." Wally said. "I thought they were hitting it quite well back at the coffee shop." Wally added.

Iris was about to walk to go and find Nayara, but Barry stopped her. "I will go." Barry said, walking away from the two of them. Barry knocked softly on the door leaning on the wall right next to it. "Nay, I know you are in there." Barry said to her.

"I can't go to that party." Nayara said from the other side. "Are you alone?" Nayara asked him.

"Yeah." Barry added. Just as he finished talking, the door opened a little bit just for him to enter. Barry entered the room and closed it after him. He took a sit right next to Nayara who had her cheeks bright red. "What happened in the coffee shop?" Barry asked her.

"Wally embarrassed me in front of his best friend Richard Grayson." Nayara said looking ahead. "And....you know...I met the guy before but when he was wearing a mask....and I made a fool of myself. I mean...it's not that I don't have a filter it's just that I don't know how to approach the situation." Nayara said to him. "Do you remember how I told you I grew up with superheroes from this world like Batman?" Nayara asked him.

"Yeah." Barry answered.

"Well, so back in the Marvel world I had a crush on Peter and in this world I had...." Nayara could not finish the sentence out of embarrassment.

"On Wally's friend, Dick Grayson." Barry finished. Nayara nodded, hiding her face in her hands. "Do you like him?" Barry asked.

"I am happy with Peter even if I'm not directly in his world." Nayara said. "I just look back at the memories and try to hold back my tongue and I just...I don't know what happens....it's like my brain was removed." Nayara added. "One thing is talking to Batman and another thing is talking to his adopted son." Nayara sighed, shaking her head. "I'm scare I will make fool of myself, Bar." Nayara confessed.

Barry gave her an encouraging smile. "Do you want to go? If not that's okay. You can join me and Iris for movie night. How does that sound?" Barry asked her. Nayara smiled, nodding at him. "And if you do decide to go then you just call me and I will pick you right up." Barry told her.

"You will be a great dad, Barry." Nayara said to him, turning to look at him.

Barry chuckled at her. "Why do you say that?" He asked her. Nayara shrugged, looking at him with a bright smile.

"I think I can just guess it." Nayara said to him. Barry stood up and helped Nayara up. The two of them left the room. Nayara walked shyly to Wally who smiled at seeing her all well. "I will go to the party." She said to him. "Can I go and change first?" She asked. The young hero nodded and watched the girl go.

. . .

Nayara entered the apartment where the party was being held. She was expecting tones of heroes with mask, but instead she saw just teens talking. Nayara looked around the party. Wally noticed her stiff behavior and put an encouraging arm around her shoulder.

"Don't worry, this time I wouldn't leave you side." Wally told her. Nayara smiled at him, following to meet a tall muscly boy her age with a black tee. "Conner, this is my friend Nayara." Wally said, presenting her.

The brunette recognized the name and smiled at the boy. "Hi, I'm Nayara. Nice to meet you." She said, shaking the boy's hand.

In a matter of a seconds she was surrounded by a group of young adults and teen who had mostly secret identities. This made Nayara relaxed a little, feeling a little bit better since they were interesting to meet a new face, and Wally never left her side.

After a while of chatting with who she knew were members of the Teen Titans or some other type of superhero, she decided to go outside the balcony to take some fresh hair. Nayara walked outside and looked up to the stars.

She sighed, pulling out her phone just to see a picture of Peter's face. She knew she could not come back just yet. Not until the war was over. She mentally promised it to Emma after all. The brunette looked down at pictures of Steve and her, and then of Peter. She missed him. "I hope you found my notes, Steve." Nayara whispered to herself, looking at the phone.

"Who is Steve?" A voice said behind her.

Nayara jumped out of her skin, throwing her phone into the air. Richard was quick on catching it before it fell to the floor. "Oh, god." She whispered to herself, catching her breath.

"I didn't mean to scare you." Richard told her.

"It's okay....I was just...I-I w-was thinking about a friend." Nayara said, not looking at Richard. The boy handed the phone back to her and she accepted it with ease. "Plus, I like more the silence sometimes." She added. Richard nodded at her, leaning on the railing next to her. "So w-where are you from?" Nayara asked him.

"Gotham. I live there." Richard answered her. "How about you?" He asked her.

Nayara hesitated before answering, thinking of the answer. "It's complicated." She answered, looking at him.

"You travel a lot?" Richard asked her.

"Yeah, you could say that." Nayara said in thought.

"I used to travel a lot has a kid." Richard told her. Nayara nodded, knowing his origins like the palm of her hand, much like she had done with Peter. She knew that the boy standing next to her had grew up in a circus and even had seen his own parents die.

Richard looked down at the streets below, actually enjoying the silence between the two. At first he would have thought that the girl was not interested in him, but the casual smiles told him other wide. He knew deep down that she was listening to him. He was attempting to start a conversation with the girl to get to know her and so far, it was going well. He had been talking longer than the two have ever talked.

After a few seconds of silence Nayara had enough courage to speak to him and continue their conversation. "I live in National City, but travel a lot to visit a friend back in Central City." Nayara said, finally able to not stutter even the slightest. "My roommate's name is Kara...she is nice." Nayara said to her.

"Got any family in National City then?" Richard asked her.

"No." Nayara answered.

"Where are they?" Richard asked her, not thinking too much of the question.

"I don't have them. Parents I mean." Nayara said softly. "Kara and my friend in Central City are my family." Nayara added, not looing at him in the eye.

"I'm sorry." Richard said, regretting his words.

Nayara sighed, turning around to look at him in the eye for the first time in the night. She did not want him to battle himself over it. "It's okay." She said, giving a big smile. She hesitated before putting a hand on his shoulder and patting it. The gesture left as quickly as it came. This made Richard smile.

"How do you know Wally?" Richard asked her. He felt very accomplish at the fact that the girl was talking to him more than when he had the mask on. The first time he had seen the girl was on the train that was hijacked but actually on a Teen Titan party where she was Wally's plus one. He remembered her being a flustered mess and was confused why – or so he thought – she did not want to talk to him. Now, she was speaking to him; not much but it was something.

Nayara send him a small smile. "I...umm...we have a mutual friend." Nayara informed him, slightly looking down. "H-how do you know him?" Nayara asked, even if she already knew the answer herself.

"We used to work together." Richard answered.

Nayara smile widen at little at her idea of teasing him. "Where?" Nayara asked him, knowing that it was when they were both apprentice and the Teen Titans was just a mere group beginning to form.

Richard kept quiet for a few seconds, formulating an answer and Nayara noticed this. Thankful he did not have to answer because all the lights suddenly turned off, and they weren't the only ones. Across the city, all light had been turned off, just like it had happen when Nayara was with Kara in National City.

Nayara stiffen. "Richard?" Nayara called out.

"I'm here." He said right next to her. Nayara was smart and took out her phone to light up everything around her. Nayara then noticed a flickering of lights above their heads. Nayara looked up just to see a portal being opened.

"Move." Nayara said, pushing Richard to the floor just as something fell from it, taking away part of the balcony. Nayara looked down at the blue eyed boy and blushed drastically noticing she was over him. "I-I am so sorry." She said, moving away quickly.

Richard took her arm and pulled her inside the apartment with the rest. "You okay?" He asked her, and the brunette just nodded. However, her blood went cold when she heard it. A roar. A roar that made the entire floor shake. Nayara reached out for Richard's hand in panic. A act that made her feel less alone.

"Please don't be a dinosaur." Donna said, walking to them. Wally flashed next to Nayara, checking if she was alright.

"I always wanted to see a dinosaur life." Nayara mumbled, slowly walking towards the edge of it. Wally flashed next to her, looking how the girl looked down despite being afraid of heights a little bit. She put her phone out, looking out to see what it was.

The light hit the floor below, revealing nothing. Then suddenly something jumped out of the street. Wally flashed both of them away from it without being able to see what it was.

Nayara watched as the creature stood at the edge of the balcony before it roar. Nayara put both of her hands on her ears, hoping it blocked the sound of it. However, before the creature could approach the set of teens and young adults somebody stopped it by throwing him off the edge.

Conner looked down before jumping down the building. "Wally get everyone out of here." Richard told his friend, motioning everyone out the apartment where the party was being held. Nayara followed Richard out, standing closely behind as they, all took the emergency stairs.

Just as Nayara crossed the steps to the following floor, the creature crashed against it while holding Conner, breaking the set of stairs. The brunette knelt down, avoiding the debris that was caused by the hit of the creature.

The brunette looked up, watching Richard look and calculate what he would do next. Then she saw his face, one which she knew meant that he was intending to jump. She did not doubt his jumping skills knowing that he was more than capable since he spent his time jumping from building to building back in Gotham as the famous vigilante Nightwing. However, that did not eased her worries of him falling to possibly to his death.

Nayara held her breath as the boy jumped, but he missed.

Nayara reached out her hand, catching his own hand. She used all the strength she had to help him up. When he was up safely, the brunette held her chest. She rolled her eyes in annoyance before hitting on the arm. "Don't you dare to do that ever again." She said, all of her shyness gone. This shocked Richard a lot.

The brunette stood up and helped the boy up. The two of them made their way done safely, until something stopped them. Conner and the creature were fighting. The creature roared at Conner. Nayara turned her cellphone light to the creature and was shocked to see his green furious face.

"That's impossible." She said out loud, looking at the green giant man. Before Conner attacked once more, the brunette ran to the fight just like she had done months ago. She raised her hands to both side. "Stop!" She said, looking at Conner.

Then she turned to the green creature. "Hulk!" She called him out, hoping he would remember her. She turned her light to her face. "Hulk, do you remember me?" She asked the creature.

Hulk stayed still breathing heavily. "Hulk, are you okay?" She asked him.

The Hulk pointed at her. "Friend." He said to her. Nayara relaxed a little, walking slowly to him. "Protect friend!" He yelled, getting ready to fight Conner again.

"Hey, hey. No!" She snapped at Hulk. "He, my friend too." She whispered to Hulk, pointing at Conner. "What are you doing here big guy?" She asked him, coming closer to him.

Hulk looked at her and sat back down, making the street tremble. Nayara walked closer, and put her hand on his arm. "Are you okay?" She asked him.

"Hulk miss friend." He said, looking sadly at her. Nayara smiled a little.

"I miss Hulk too." She said to him. "What happened?" She asked him.

"Hulk fight big Red Hulk. Red Hulk had friend." Hulk said, looking a little bit angry. "Hulk protect friend. Fall from up." Hulk said, pointing at the sky. Nayara looked up the sky, just in time to see more portals being opened.

Nayara's face paled a little. "He figured it out." Nayara whispered to herself just as Richard was coming closer to her. "He figured out how to work the machine." Nayara added. The brunette dialed Barry's phone number in a hurry. "Barry, Luthor figured it out. He figured out how to use the portal opener." Nayara said to the phone in hurry.

Barry, who was sitting on the couch with Iris sleep to his side, stood up quickly. "What?" He asked her.

"Luthor, figure it all out. I'm being serious. I have the Hulk next to me." Nayara said, her eyes glued to the sky.

Barry swore loudly, walking to the window where with his own eyes watched how portals were being opened in the sky. However, they were the only ones wondering what was going on, across the country and world people were trying to figure what was happening. Who could possibly behind this? It was simple answer. Lex Luthor had figured out a way to connect worlds together, and it will all end in destruction.
