26 | WORRIES FROM THE ONES WE LOVE
NAYARA SAW HOW Supergirl flew out of the way to find Barry. However, as soon as she left another person arrived. A person that Nayara was not very fund of.
Tony looked at the girl who seemed a little bit breathless. "You okay, kid?" Tony asked her.
"Aren't you supposed to be checking Pepper?" Nayara asked him.
"She was not the one being thrown out the building." Tony told her. He took off his mask and looked at the girl had taken a step back when he took one forward.
Nayara looked at him with wary eyes. "I didn't do anything. I didn't know HYDRA will come here today. Did anybody else got hurt?" Nayara asked him.
Tony looked at her in thought. He kept the answer to the last question to himself. "Let me help you." Tony told her.
"Where is Steve?" Nayara asked him.
"He is on his way. He is still hours away. I tried to arrive here on time." Tony told her. Nayara stood, looking at him.
"I'm not coming with if Steve isn't here." Nayara told Tony. She looked away from him, and then down at the burn tracks of the speedy hero dressed in red.
Tony sighed, knowing the girl was not trusting him enough. He knew the reason why. "Look, I'm just trying to get you to the Avenger's mansion to check there has been no damage. Steve will beat me up with the shield, if not." Tony told her.
Nayara frowned, looking at him in thought. "I'm trying to be a nice person, and you're making it extremely difficult." Tony told her.
"You thought I was a threat, and threated me." Nayara replied to him. "You might be a hero, but I don't trust you. I only trust, Steve." Nayara quickly added.
Tony nodded at her. "I thought you will say that." Tony said, before creating a small megaphone by putting his hands over his mouth. "Spideroos!" He yelled and Spider-Man dropped next to Nayara.
Nayara jumped at this, and the relaxed when it was Peter. "You okay?" Peter asked her, walking closer to her. Concern was in his voice. He was beyond glad that she was okay. He knew he was not going to reach her in time, but something else did. Someone.
Nayara sighed, accepting the hug and quickly returning it. He pulled away, brushing the hair off her face. "I'm fine." Nayara reassured him. She smiled at Peter before holding him again, tighter this time. She thought she was going to die on that minute and the fact that she didn't shocked her.
"Are you coming?" Tony asked her.
"No." Nayara replied back.
"You are so stubborn." Tony told her.
"You are very stubborn too!" Nayara replied.
"You got HYDRA agents waiting to kill you. They could be anywhere right now, along with that person that just flew off." Tony said, pointing at the sky. "You coming, or do I have to force you?" Tony asked her.
Nayara rolled her eyes and walked off the alley. "I don't follow orders from you." Nayara replied.
"Nay!" Peter asked her, following her outside. "Nay, come on." Peter told her, and she shook her head. Peter sighed. "I'm doing this for your own good." Peter said before shooting a spider web at Nayara's back. He pulled it, making Nayara crashed into his chest. He then shot another one and lifted both of them up.
"Peter Benjamin Parker! Put me down now!" Nayara yelled, glaring at him.
"I can't. You will fall." Peter told her, pulling her closer to his chest. "How do you know my middle name?" Peter asked her, frowning slightly. This exact moment bought him back to last year, when he had found a confused teen who was trying to take off his masks.
"Why are you doing this?" Nayara asked him. "Alright." She sighed. "Supergirl! Supergirl come and safe me!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
Peter flinched at the loud volume. "Who the hell are you calling?" Peter asked her.
Nayara did not reply, instead she kept screaming Kara's name. "Supergirl! Come and safe me! Supergirl." Nayara yelled louder. Peter swing quicker, towards the Avenger's mansion.
"Safe you from who?" Peter asked Nayara.
"From Tony!" Nayara replied.
"He is not going to do anything." Peter told her.
"Yeah, he is." Nayara replied quicker. "You have no idea what I'm talking about." Nayara told Peter. He stopped on top of a low roof.
"I would have if you talked to me." Peter told her. Nayara sighed. "Who the hell is Supergirl?" He asked her.
"She is the blonde who saved me at graduation. Thank you for saving me, by the way." Nayara said to him.
"I wasn't going to let her hurt you anymore than she already had." Peter told her softly. Nayara smiled at him. "Why don't you want to go and see Tony? Did something happen?" Peter asked her. Nayara shook her head, not looking at him.
"Nothing." Nayara said to him.
Peter groaned in annoyance. "Could you, please, just come. It will help me feel a lot better if you could just come and get checked. It will ease my nerves." Peter told her.
"Why?" Nayara asked him, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Because then it means that my girlfriend is okay." Peter exclaimed. He closed his eyes and turned around. He realized what he had said.
Nayara could not help smile a little. "What did you just say?" She asked him, wanting to tease him.
Peter kicked out a few stones off the roof, shrugging. Nayara sighed, looking how Peter was trying to act like nothing was said. "Peter?" She asked softly, but he did not reply. "Bug-boy, are you going to speak? I'm trying to talk to you. It's normally I who avoids the questions." Nayara added.
Peter turned to face her. Yes, they had been to a couple of dates. However, it was never said. Nayara just assumed they were together. It seemed Peter did the same. "I really love when you get concern about me, it's just...I will tell you when I'm ready." Nayara told him. "If it makes you feel better, I will go." Nayara said, standing closer to Peter.
She pulled up his mask until it hit a little bit over his nose. She leant and kissed his cheek and them she kissed the corner of his lips. Peter sighed, turning to look at her.
She smiled lightly at him. "I got a pretty damn cool boyfriend." Nayara whispered to him. "He is a superhero, which I think it's very attractive. He is kind, and funny and adorable." Nayara said. "I know he will always be there for me." Nayara whispered to him.
It was Peter's turn to smile. "Did you just call me adorable?" Peter asked her, and Nayara laughed. Nayara took his hand and smile. He wrapped his arms around her, while Nayara pulled down his mask.
. . .
Kara sat her feet to the ground, looking at the hero with the red suit. "Hey!" Kara yelled, waving at him. "And I thought I will be the one stuck here by myself." Kara said to him, nodding at him.
Barry turned around, looking at her. "Supergirl?" He asked, confused on seeing her.
"Flash." Supergirl greeted him. "Thanks for saving Nayara back there." Kara told him, pointing behind her.
"The girl who knew my name?" Barry asked her. Kara nodded at him.
"She tends to come out a little weird when she meets people like us. I don't blame her though. I mean, I would have freak out if I had to meet a hero." Kara told him. "She is quite cool though. Just as a warning, she tends to ask a lot of questions and rambles on about stuff she likes, which is kind of adorable." Kara quickly added.
"How did she know my name?" Barry asked her.
Kara shrugged. "I mean...she is better at explaining it than I do." Kara said to him. Barry sighed, shaking her head. "Will you come with me, please." Kara told him. "If you want you can run off god knows where, but meanwhile just hear her out." Kara added. Barry sighed, shaking his head.
"Race you there." Barry said, sending a smirk to Kara before speeding off.
. . .
Nayara sat down in the hospital bed, watching how Tony tipped something in a computer. "You are feeling okay?" Tony asked her.
"Yeah, I just want to go home." Nayara told him.
"Your guardian isn't going to be here until a hour. All the roads were closed due to the hostage situation with HYDRA." Tony told her.
"What about Theodore?" Nayara asked Tony.
"He is also on his way." Tony answered.
"And Betty? His wife." Nayara asked him, again.
Tony sighed, turning to face her. "You really dislike my company." Tony noted.
"Well, last time we chatted you pretty much told me that I had certain 'intensions' that you were going to find. The only intention I have right now is to be friends with Steve. I hold a lot of pride in that." Nayara answered.
Tony whirled his chair closer to her. "I'm Tony Stark." Tony told her.
Nayara looked at him, holding out a laugh. "I know. We all know." Nayara added.
Tony sighed, messaging his templates. "I thought you got my point, but clearly you haven't." Tony told her. "I want to start from scratch. I pressure you will be around more, so at least let's get along." Tony told her.
"Alright." Nayara said, smiling at him. Tony tried to contain the shock on his face when he saw that that the girl was being serious on his answer. Nayara's phone started to ring.
She accepted the call, hearing Theodore's voice. "Umm, Nayara. I got a scarlet speedster telling me that he knows you. Kara hasn't arrived yet." Theodore told her.
Nayara stood up and left the room. "Just hold him there for a few minutes. I need to get out of the Avenger's mansion first." Nayara said. When she had hung up she returned to the room. "I need to go, so goodbye." She said, then she returned. "Where is the exit?" She asked him.
"But-" Tony started, but was stopped by her.
"Goodbye." Nayara said, what she believed to be the exit.
She stopped when she saw Thor standing down the hall. He was taller in person. She walked softly to the Norse god. "Excuse, sir. I have been trying to find the exit to this place, but I don't seem to find it. Could you help me?" Nayara asked him.
The god of thunder looked down at her. A frown became present in his face. "Can you not-" Tony said, stopping when he saw you talking to the God of thunder. "What are you doing talking to Thor?" Tony asked her.
Nayara turned around, putting her hands on her hips. "I want to leave." Nayara answered. "I was asking him from instructions." Nayara said, before sending a small wave to Thor.
Thor pointed at Nayara. "You are Steve's kid." Thor answered, knowing he had briefly seen her about a year ago when she came inside the Avengers' tower stating that she knew who the Purple Man was and the dangers of him.
"He isn't from here. He can' give you instructions." Tony said to her.
"Well, I think instructions just simply need common knowledge." Nayara replied.
"He doesn't have common knowledge." Tony sharply said.
Nayara scoffed before smirking when an idea popped up in her head. "Are you calling him an idiot? That is really mean. He is a god! Show some respect Tony." Nayara replied to him. Then she turned to Thor. "I think you are a very brave, and capable man. Do not listen to Tony. Sometimes his helmet gets too tight and makes him has these thoughts." Nayara told Thor.
"Thank lady Lilly." Thor replied to her.
Tony held the bridge of his nose tighter. He took deep quick breaths trying to remain calm. "I don't see why you will think I am not intelligent, Tony." Thor said to him.
"I didn't say that." Tony told him.
"She just said you were." Thor replied back, pointing at Nayara. Nayara's smirk widen, but it only went unnoticed by Thor.
Tony narrowed his eyes at the amused girl. "You are twisting my words." He told her.
"You never denied it." Nayara replied. "Learn to keep up, Tony." She quickly added before turning to the god of thunder. "So, oh kind Thor will you be able to help me out? I have never been here before." Nayara asked him.
Thor nodded, clasping his hands together. "Of course, lady Lilly. The exit is this way." Thor told her, leading her down the hall. Nayara turned to Tony and waved softly at him. Tony held back a groan in annoyance.
. . .
Nayara sat in the kitchen of her apartment face timing, Emma. "I'm fine, Emma. Really!" Nayara told her, seeing the concerned face in Emma's face.
"You have to move out of the city for a while. Or if not, at least go and stay at the school. I worry every time I got out." Emma told her.
"I didn't know this was going to happen...but...things worked out fine." Nayara told her, trying to give the kind woman some hope. However, she did not accept it.
Nayara jumped at the loud voice of Emma. "Don't go and tell me it worked out fine when you were throw out of a building! You!" Emma yelled in annoyance. Nayara looked down at the table. "You have been in dangerous situation none stop and all because you said something you were not supposed to. That and the fact that Steve keeps bringing you into more trouble. I just want you to stay safe!" Emma said to her in a softer voice. "I'm losing my mind. Every time I leave the house I'm afraid something might happen to you. You know how that feels?" Emma asked her.
An immense guilt started to build inside Nayara's heart. She knew it will build its way towards her brain and nest there until the ends of time, because no matter what you do guilt always tends to settle inside you.
"I'm sorry, Emma." Nayara whispered, not able to look at her in the eyes. She looked at her phone that was buzzing non-stop. "I will get back to you, Emma." Nayara told her, seeing the selfie of her and Kara on her screen.
"Wait, what about that red streak from the-" Emma started but was cut off by Nayara who was about to hang up the call.
"I love you, Emma. I'm fine. Call you later." Nayara told her before hanging up the videochat. "Hey, Kara. What are you up to?" Nayara asked her.
"Umm, could you start opening the door because Flash is on his way. He gave me a head start." Kara told her.
"Alright." Nayara said, walking towards the door. When she opened it, she saw Kara arrive quickly. "Hey!" Nayara said, greeting her. "How long do you think-" Nayara said but was cut off by a gush of wind hitting her face, signaling the arrival of the speedster. Nayara closed the door quickly.
The young girl took cover behind Kara, slightly embarrassed at the arrival of Barry. Especially after she had scowled him for time traveling.
Barry looked around the apartment with wide eyes. Nayara looked at the windows and closed the curtains. When she turned around, Kara had left and Barry Allen was still in the living room. "Umm.... hi?" Nayara said, giving him an awkward wave.
"You knew my name." Barry told her, pointing at her. Nayara nodded at him. "How the hell did you know my name?" Barry asked her.
Nayara let out a nervous laugh. "Umm...well...umm. T-that i-s is a very very fu-fu-funy question." Nayara stuttered. Kara who had gone to the kitchen to give Nayara time to explain the situation, had heard the girl's heart beat increase. She looked out, watching how Nayara was frozen in her spot with wide eyes. Kara held back a laugh, shaking her head.
Nayara coughed a little shaking her head. "I'm sorry if I weirded you out before. Not sorry about the scowling....because that had a point...but...umm." Nayara said, looking down at the floor.
Barry shook his head, taking off his mask. When Nayara looked up to him, she saw his face. "I don't think there is need for this if you already know who I'm." Barry told her.
Nayara looked down at her hands and back at him. "You are in a total different world. Like you are not even in your own universe. Neither am I, actually. That's why I know who you are. Here, Central City doesn't exist. Justice League doesn't exist. This is not even a earth within your own universe, which you tend to travel too much." Nayara told Barry. "I'm Nayara by the way. Thank you for saving me. I was grateful really, it's just that....umm...I realized it was you and that you were again in big trouble because....I presume...you ran too fast. Honestly, this is better than getting stuck in the speed force." Nayara said quickly, before giving a small smile to Barry.
Barry nodded at her. Nayara quickly left to her room, getting the action proof. Kara walked to Barry. "Give her some time. She tends to talk more than she lets on. I'm surprise that she hasn't spilled out any interesting facts about you." Kara joked.
Nayara walked out of her room, sending a glare to Kara. Without looking at Barry she handed him the Batman comic before walking to kitchen. "I getting some food." Nayara said looking down at the floor.
Barry passed the pages frowning, before shaking his head. "Yeah, Barry. You are in big trouble." Nayara said from the door of the kitchen. Barry looked up to her.
Barry flashed to her and handed the comic. "So, you are not from here?" Barry asked her. Nayara shook her head.
"A different world when the people in your universe exist in these, and everything around this world as well." Nayara told him. "So, what was it? Attempt to time travel or accident?" Nayara asked him. "Don't get mad. I'm a concerned fan. Plus, I got to get you back to Iris, if not I will feel too guilty and I don't want that." Nayara added.
Barry shook his head, giving the girl a smile. "Are you seriously scowling me for time traveling? Out of all the things you could say, that you clearly know, you decide to yell and make an entire speech about me time traveling. I mean...fair enough. I see why." Barry told her. This eased Nayara's nerves. "I know you already know my name, but I'm Barry Allen." Barry told her, showing her his hand. Nayara shook with confident. "And you didn't freak me out. I have been in weirder situations." Barry told her.
"Sorry if I freaked you out, it's just that you are one of my favorite heroes. You are the Flash! I got saved by the Flash." Nayara said with excitement in her voice. This made Barry laugh. "I will order some pizza because I know you have to eat everything you run." Nayara told him. She suddenly cringed when she realised what she had said. "And I shouldn't have said that. Sorry, that was weird." Nayara said to him quickly.
"You can...umm...stay here or in Theodore's lab. Kara knows where it is." Nayara told him. "Just a quick question. Are you familiarized with building those travel machines that you and your team use to travel to different earths? Because I don't and I really want you and Kara to return to your world because no matter how much I love having you guys around...you still have people you love to get to." Nayara quickly said.
Barry smiled at her and nodded. "I know." Barry told her.
"Well, great then." Nayara said, smiling brightly at Kara.
. . .
"So, can you time travel in other earths?" Nayara asked Barry as she leant on the dinner table. She was dying to ask questions, but she did not know if she was allowed to. Kara who knew her very well quietly told Barry that the girl was dying to question him. Barry then proceeded to tell Nayara that she could, and he had to help back a laugh when he saw how the girl's eyes light up with excitement and curiosity. He knows, through some thinking understood what this must be meaning to her. He could not imagine what it would feel to suddenly come face to face with his childhood heroes who existed in cartoons.
"Yeah." Barry told her.
"Can you do that thing where you change your voice by just vibrating your vocal cords? I always wondered if you could." Nayara said to him. Kara sat next to her, smiling at the girl.
Barry was about to answer when the bell rang. He ran to the door opening it, hoping to see the pizza delivery man, but stopped when he saw a tall blonde standing in the door.
The man looked at Barry with a blank expression. "Who are you?" The blonde asked Barry.
While Barry was trying to come up with an answer, Nayara had appeared out of the kitchen. "What is taking you so long, Barry? Did the man forget our pizzas? Because I am starving." Nayara said, walking to the door. When she stepped behind Barry, she froze at the sight of the man.
"Our pizzas?" A voice said behind Steve. Peter looked at Nayara with a slight frown.
Nayara looked at Barry before turning quickly to Steve. The older blonde was already giving her a look. "Steve, hi!" Nayara said lightly. She brushed the hair off her face.
"Who is that?" Peter asked Nayara, pointing at Barry. Nayara turned to Barry, and he pointed at himself.
"That is...Fred! Yeah, he works with Emma. He is a technician for Emma's company." Nayara answered, before turning to her boyfriend.
"Yeah. I am a technician." Barry answered, nodding at Peter. He showed him his hand. "I'm Fred. Nice to meet you." He told him. Then he shook hands with Steve. Steve kept his eyes on Barry.
"Umm, B-Fred...could you just call the pizza place?" Nayara asked Barry.
"Defently." Barry told her before walking out. He entered the kitchen and looked at Kara.
"Who was it? Why do you have that face?" Kara asked him with a slight worry.
"Some blonde man whose name is Steve." Barry answered. Kara swore loudly, covering her face. "What?" Barry asked her.
"Oh my. Kara is such trouble." Kara told him before poking her head out, seeing Steve and Nayara in the leaving room. "What is Peter doing here?" She whispered to herself.
"Who is Peter?" Barry asked her.
"The boy. She is Nayara's boyfriend." Kara informed Barry.
Nayara looked at Steve with a wary smile. "Hi! You are doing great. No bruises I see." Nayara told Steve, pointing at his face. "I see that the mission went well." Nayara informed him.
Steve crossed his arms over his chest. Nayara cringed when she saw Steve do that, which pretty much warned her the talk that Steve was about to give her. He only did it when he was about to correct someone for their mistakes. Nayara sighed, seating down on the couch getting ready for Steve's speech, just like a daughter would with her parents.
"I came here to make sure you are okay, and you got a stranger in your house." Steve told her. "Today, you were thrown down a building, had me worried and then you act like nothing happened." Steve told her with a raised eyebrow.
"I am okay. Tony checked everything." Nayara told Steve.
"You got taken by a red streak!" Peter exclaimed from behind her. Steve and Nayara turned to face him. Steve send Peter a look and he shut up quickly, realizing that this talk was just between the two of them.
"I did not get taken. I got saved by the Flash." Nayara corrected him. Steve looked at her with a half-amused look at the name.
"Flash?" Steve asked her.
"He told me his name, and that was it." Nayara answered.
"I didn't tell her my name." Barry whispered to Kara, who in returned smacked him in the arm. Barry flinched.
Steve held the bridge of his nose. "You talked to the man who saved you. Just talked." Steve said. Nayara nodded at him.
"But I think I freaked him out. He was nice though." Nayara told Steve. "He is not a threat. He didn't appear to be in the comics." Nayara whispered to Steve, so that Peter could not hear. Steve sighed again. "I'm okay. I'm healthy and alive. I ordered pizza, if you want to stay for it." Nayara told him.
Steve knelt down in front of her. "Thanks for the offer, but no." Steve answered her. "Look, Nayara. You got to listen to me. You can't go around inviting strangers especially when you are in HYDRA most wanted list. You got to be clever and stay out of it." Steve told her.
"I am pretty clever about it." Nayara replied.
"I know, but you got to be more careful. I will feel awfully guilty if something happened because of me not being there for you." Steve told her. Nayara looked down at her lap. "So, will you please be more careful?" Steve asked her.
"Yeah. I promise." Nayara told him.
"Alright." Steve sighed. Nayara looked up to him. "Are you sure you are okay?" Steve whispered to her. Nayara nodded at him. "I'm always here for you. You know that, right?" Steve asked her.
"Yeah. Partners always look after each other." Nayara whispered to him.
"Friends do too." Steve told her.
Nayara let out a soft laugh. "It is pretty damn cool to be friends with Captain America." Nayara replied back. Steve chuckled at her. "I will be fine. I promise." Nayara told him, smiling at him.
"Alright." Steve told her, standing up. Both of then looked for Peter and could not see him.
"Peter!" Nayara called out and he came out of the kitchen. He held a frown on his face. "What is wrong?" Nayara aske him.
"Nothing." Peter said under his breath. Nayara frowned at him. She sighed before hugging him. This caught him off guard, but nonetheless he did not hesitate to hug her back tightly.
"Thank you." Nayara whispered near his ear.
"Why?" Peter asked her.
"For trying to reach me in time." Nayara said and pulled back. She gave him a small innocent peck on the cheek before stepping away from him.
Steve send a look to Peter from behind Nayara. Peter gulped slightly, smiling back at the girl. "I will see you around then." Nayara said before walking towards the door. She waved goodbye at them before closing it. She let out shaky breath.
Barry and Kara came out of the kitchen. "That was close." Nayara said to the two of them. "Nobody can know that you two aren't from here because then I'm in big trouble." Nayara said to both of them. "Now, let's go and try and call the pizza. I'm starving." Nayara said to them.
"Actually, I can go and get it myself." Barry told her. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye Barry had left. In a matter of seconds, he had returned with fifteen pizzas in his arms.
"I love your power!" Nayara exclaimed in excitement as she took some of the pizzas.
