21 | THE BLONDE WITH THE RED CAPE
NAYARA WAS A good person. From a young age she was taught to do the right thing. To be kind to others, and to watch out for herself. Anyone who saw her saw that. Especially Peter who even before he started dating the girl, he saw how she was willing to sacrifice everything for the ones she care about. Just like any real hero would.
Peter was not the only one who knew about this. Steve, Emma and especially Logan knew it too. It was the main reason why Steve was still filled with immense guilt. The weight of the guilt was practically crashing him into the floor. He heard from Tony that the girl had resigned her internship, which made him even more guilty. He knew that it was not her fault entirely. It was his for not preventing any. He tried contacting her after talking to her, but failed every time. He even had a chat with Peter since he was desperate to know how the girl was doing. Peter told her she was better now, and this somewhat eased Steve's nerves. He promised to himself that it will not happen again, which was why he was now hunting down every single HYDRA agent he could find.
Oh, and the Bordouz? They were quietly looking after her, keeping in touch with Emma who explained to them the reason why she had been cutting her ties with everyone she was around. Betty was furious when she had found out, and was happy when she handcuffed Sharon Carter for conspiracy against SHIELD and harming a underage girl. Theodore on the other hand waited for Nayara to talk back, because he knew that she needed her space to think. To see and analyze the situation. He knew she will come back eventually.
While the Avengers went to save the earth from a new threat and Peter swinging by helping around, Nayara carried out with her own routine. Writing what she remembered that happed on the comics, and saving it in a especial place. She did not want to forget what she knew in case it will become helpful some day, which it will eventually. She even took went with Peter, taking some pretty cool shots of him saving the city just to help him out. Peter of course, gave her the full credit when he gave the pictures to the Daily Bulge.
Now she was standing in front of a bath full of water. The past couple of days she had been trying to learn how to use her powers, really wanting them to use them in the battle front; which Logan told her never to do.
The girl was able to somewhat to lift up some bubble above the bathtub. As she was about to move them together she heard the door bell ring. For once, Logan was unable to come along with the rest of the X-Men, which meant Nayara was by herself. After the Winter Soldier incident she felt somewhat scare with every single sound she heard.
She pulled out her phone, looking at who had was at the front of the door. "Loki?" She questioned. She sighed, leaving the bathroom and opening the door for the man. "What are you even doing here?" Nayara asked him.
The man showed her a ID card, and Nayara took it. Loki closed the door behind him. "Your name isn't James Harrison." Nayara told Loki, before looking up to him. "Is this your new identity? Why would you get a new identity? Are you staying one earth?" Nayara asked him.
The now blonde nodded at her. "I have somebody here." Loki told her.
"Oh, please tell me it isn't me." Nayara told him. She handled the ID back to him. "I'm not going to help you take over Asgard. I think you are smart enough to figure a plan of your own. You are not as brute as your brother." Nayara said to him. Then she regretted it. "I didn't meant it. Your brother is quite amusing. Very good man." Nayara said.
"You are right on the brute part." Loki told her, putting his ID back in place. "And yes, I do have a girlfriend." Loki told her, answering the question she had previously asked the last time they met.
Nayara looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "What?" Nayara asked him. "A girlfriend? For real?" She asked confused.
Loki scoffed at her. "Yes, a girlfriend." Loki told her, taking out his own phone showing a picture to her. "Ironically enough, you were the one who saved her father's life last year. I am starting to think that its your hobby to pick injured people and help them." Loki told her.
"Oh. I know who you are talking about." Nayara said, remembering when she saved Steve's life last year from a HYDRA agent. "I got a cold after that. It sucked. I am glad he is doing well." She added. "Wait, is that why you are helping me? Because I saved her father." Nayara asked him.
"No." Loki told her. "It is just simply the fact that you helped me once." Loki told her.
Nayara narrowed her eyes at him in thought. "Really?" Nayara asked him. She shook her head and walked to the balcony. Loki followed. "So, what's her name? You know the girl who stole your funny little heart?" Nayara sarcastically said.
"Jenna Karson." Loki told her. Nayara nodded at him, smiling slightly. "Why are you smiling like that?" Loki asked her curiously.
"Because I'm glad you have someone that makes you happy. Everyone deserves to be happy, even-" She stopped trying to find out a word for it. She didn't want to be blunt and call him a villain to his face.
Loki nodded at her. "Villain. Frozen hearted man. God of Mischief? Which words were the one you were looking for?" Loki asked her.
Nayara looked at him, and shrugged. "Neither." She answered. "I mean...you brother he call you a villain...but you know people change. Hopefully, as long as you stay out of trouble, I wouldn't be calling you that." Nayara told him. Nayara looked at ahead. "You really do amuse me, Loki. Thank you for the help." She said. However, she frowned when she saw a big blue hole appear from the top of Manhattan. For a brief moment, Nayara could see the stars and what appeared to be an spaceship. "Is that the bridge to Asgard?" Nayara asked Loki.
However, she got an answer when she saw a red cape and long blonde hair. A red skirt and a blue torso with with what appeared to be red. "That is not from Asgard." She whispered to herself, seeing it suddenly crash a blocks away.
Nayara ran out of the apartment, getting her phone and her hoodie. Loki looked at the girl who was already out of the door. He swore loudly, following the girl who was going to get herself into more trouble.
Nayara ran quickly to where she presumed was the crash zone. She knew only one person who will have that suit, and she prayed she was wrong. She ran faster once she saw people started to round something in the middle of the road. Cars alarms were blasting off like music, and collision had caused a tremendous amount of dust. Nayara was about to push through the cloud when she was stopped by Loki.
"What do you think you are doing?" Loki asked her.
She ignored him and pushed through the crowd. She held her breath when she saw the big 'S' on the chest of the young woman. "I know her." She whispered to Loki. "I have to take her away." She whispered back. She pulled up her hoodie, covering most of her face and walked to the wounded girl. She checked her pulse and relaxed a little when she felt it. She knew she was pretty much indestructible.
Loki sighed. "Here we go again." He whispered to himself before taking out his hand from his pockets. He used his power to move the attention away from the unconscious hero. Nayara put both of her hands under the blonde's arms and pulled her up. She swore loudly when she saw how heavy she was.
Loki saw her struggle and moved to helped her. While still using his hallucinations of the audience, he helped Nayara lift the woman up. They both walked away from the scene. After moving two blocks down. Nayara motioned Loki to help her move her inside of an alley. They set her down on the floor.
Nayara knelt next to her. "You are going to be find, Kara." Nayara whispered to her. She looked up to Loki. "They filmed the entire thing." Nayara told him. He shook his head. "What do you mean?" She asked him.
"They didn't filmed anything." Loki told her.
Nayara pulled out her phone, calling a well known number. A number that she had not call for a while. "Hello? Theodore. I need your help. It's urgent." She told him. "I need your help, come here fast. I have...I have a hero from a total different universe. She is injured and I need help." Nayara said through the phone.
Loki looked out of the alley as he heard Nayara tell Theodore their location. He saw the sirens come near the scene. He turned to Nayara, and lifted the unconscious girl from the floor. "We have to go. Come on." Loki told her. Nayara nodded and followed. As Loki was about to turn, he calculated wrong and Kara's head collided with a metal post, bending it. Loki look at Nayara from over her shoulder.
"She will be fine." Nayara told her. "She has gotten worst hits." She said. She regretted her words quickly. She knew Loki had her heard her words loud and clear, but he did not question her any further. Both of them took side streets and finally found a abandoned warehouse. Nayara tried opening the door but it failed. She looked at the hydrant next to her and focus on it.
The hydrant broke, and the water came out in a single flow. Nayara turned her hands into the door and used the pressure of the water to open the door. "That's new." Loki told her.
"Not a word to anyone about it." Nayara warned him and he nodded in return. Nayara sighed, looking back at the broken hydrant. She texted Theodore their new location.
Loki put the blonde on the floor, and turned to Nayara. "You said you knew her." Loki told her. Nayara shrugged. "How the hell do you know her?" He asked her.
Nayara did not answer. Instead, she pointed at the door. "You should go. If they find you then you will be in trouble. In a jail in Asgard or here. Thank you for your help. I will carry it from here." Nayara told him.
"What are you going to do with her?" Loki asked her.
"She will stay in my house." Nayara told him. Loki shook his head at her.
"Are you insane? You are more idiotic than my brother, and that is saying something." Loki told her. Nayara send an unimpressed look at him. "You can't host a stranger from a different planet in your home. You don't even know who she is." Loki told her.
"But I do know who she is!" Nayara snapped at him.
"It is clearly a hobby." Loki said, walking around the building. "You don't know her. She came out of a portal! She could be dangerous." Loki told her.
"Says the man who tried to invade the earth, and is known from being a powerful god." Nayara replied back. Loki did not said anything, knowing she had a point. "She is harmless." Nayara told him.
"How do you know that?" Loki asked him.
"Because I know. That's it." Nayara replied to him. Loki scoffed. "You should go. For your own good. Please." Nayara told him.
"I'm staying here until you are safe with Theodore. I'm not leaving you here with her." Loki said, pointing at the blonde on the floor. Nayara accepted him presence, knowing he will not leave.
. . .
Nayara sat next to the hospital bed inside the highly tech lab that belonged to Theodore Bordouz. Next to her was the hero had fallen from the sky. She was getting worried by the second fully knowing that Kara should have been healing by now. She looked up at the glass ceiling on top of her. Nayara has asked Theodore to put the blonde in a room with a lot of glasses so that the sun will hit her.
Nayara looked down at the bag that was laying at her feat. She was trying to come up with a way of telling Kara about her current situation without freaking her out. Just as she was coming up with a way Kara sat up quickly from bed talking deep breath, freaking Nayara out.
The brunette almost falls off her seat. Nayara turned her head to see Kara looking at her. "Hi." She told her, feeling breathless for a second. Kara looked at her. Nayara stood up from her seat and took a few steps back. "I'm Nayara Lilly. I-It is really really, really nice to meet you Kara Zor-El or Kara Danvers. I didn't know which name you preferred." Nayara told her.
"How do you know my name?" Kara asked her. "Where am I?" She asked her. She stood up and glared at her.
"Don't need to use the laser vision on me. Although, it is a rally good power." Nayara said. Kara stiffen. "Umm...I know your name because...hell this..m-might s-sound weird but I know you. I know you very well. That sounded creepy. I'm really sorry. I'm standing in front of my heroes. Nice to meet you Supergirl. I should have started with that." Nayara said as she stuttered due to her nerves. She noticed Kara was not moving. "Umm...I'm sorry if I freaked you out. You are in a lab. Not a bad lab. A good lab. It belong to a friend of mine. I saw you unconscious on the road and I knew that if people find you they will be questioning you because you fell off a portal." Nayara said quickly as she played with her fingers. She moved her hand in front of Kara, waiting for her to shake her head. Kara looked at it and shook it.
"Where am I?" Kara asked again.
"You are in a different completly different universe. Like a new world. Not a world within your universe, but within the one we are not. Which isn't mine because I like you crash landed in here by accident." Nayara told Kara. "Welcome to the Marvel Universe, Kara or Supergirl. I don't know which one you prefer. I'm sorry if I weirded out. It's just it's really complicated and I don't know how to tell you this. I mean. I don't even told that many people here." Nayara told her. She took deep breaths trying to calm her heart rate.
She reached for her bag, but stopped half way. "You can use your x-ray vision to see what is inside the back. Just in case you don't trust me." Nayara said. She reached out for her Batgirl comic and pulled it out. "You know Batman? Or at least heard of him? Because I mean your cousin works with him, you know." Nayara said before handing the comic to Kara. "That's the best way I could show you of what I'm talking about." Nayara said, putting her bag down on the floor.
Kara opened it, and watched the inked pages. "Presuming by your costume you aren't Kara from Earth 2, aka Powergirl. She wears a different costume from you. I like yours better down." Nayara told her. Kara looked up to the girl who was giving her a weak smile. "So, I mean...in resume you..just traveled through worlds." Nayara told her.
"You said this wasn't your world." Kara told her. Nayara nodded at her.
"Mine is similar to this one. The only difference between this one and my own...where I am from originally, which is not here... is that we don't have mutants or even inhumans. In your world you have what you call meta-humans...we have the same cities but not the heroes. I mean we have them in the pages of a comic book, but that was about it." Nayara told her.
Kara put down the comic and covered her face in her hands. "I'm sorry, if I weirded out. I am trying to keep my cool in front of you. I mean. I absolutely adore you. Although, I'm always amused by when you use that power where you blow ice. Oh, and don't worry about the Kryptonite. It doesn't exist here at all, so you are cool...and we have the same sun as in your world so you have your powers." Nayara told Kara. "And...all the heroes of your universe, DC doesn't exist in this one. Which is why I don't know why you are here." Nayara told Kara.
Kara sighed, brushing the hair off her face. Nayara poured some water for the hero and handled it to her. "Umm...here. I will call my friend so that he can bring you some food. I know you consume a lot of food because of...you." Nayara told her.
Kara looked up at her. "How much do you know about me?" Kara asked her.
Nayara hesitated. "Not much." She lied. She knew the basics, and some characters but not as much as Batman. Kara raised an eyebrow.
"Your heart rate picked up." Kara told her.
"I have a heart problem." Nayara said quickly. "Okay, I know you are from Krypton. Which doesn't exist anymore. I know you are sister with Alex Danvers who works at the DEO. I know you are Kal-El's cousin, aka Superman or Clark Kent. I know you are pretty badass and go and fight crime. You live in National City, and you have a pretty cool team. You are Supergirl and work as a reporter at Cat Co." Nayara told her. "I know you got stuck in the Phantom Zone and when you came to earth to help your younger cousin he had already grown up and all that jazz." Nayara told her. She quickly sat back down in her chair. "I didn't want to tell you this because I didn't want to freak you out, but I know I just did because I can see it in your face." She said quickly.
Nayara stood up and walked to the door. "Do you like pizza?" She asked her.
"Yeah." Kara answered, frowning as she was trying to collect all the information the girl just told her.
"Which one?" Nayara asked her.
"Peperoni." Kara told her.
"Alright. I will order thirty, or do you want twenty. I don't know. I will order thirty just to be sure. I will be just outside. Although, I know you can hear me because of the super hearing...and I will shut up now." She said before closing the door. She then opened it again. "It is not locked." She said before closing the door behind her.
Nayara let out a shaky breath, as she leant on the wall. What a mess, Nayara thought.
