Chapter 2

"Rachel!" A familiar voice shouts. I turn around and see Meagan standing frightfully behind me, facing the opposite direction. I look up and notice the sky has a weird purplish tint to it. We're outdoors now in an alley behind a building in some city in the middle of the day. The sun is high above but somehow different. "Where are we?!" I panic.

Meagan spins around to me. "Oh my god! Rach, thank god you're here!" she runs up and hugs me tight.

"Yeah, but where are we?!" I continue darting my eyes at all corners of the alley.

"I don't know!" she says while stepping back.

Sighing nervously, I gently gnaw at my knuckles for a second. Ok, that lady - Qadira - remember what all she said. She doesn't want anything bad to happen to us. We wouldn't show up here if it were dangerous. Calm down. Just be careful and think this through logically. Step by step.

I put my hand on Meagan's shoulder, "Meg, I know you're scared but- but just hang on until I can figure this out, ok? Stay as calm as you can."

We both hear a few loud people and creatures speaking to each other somewhere close by.

I look at Meagan again, "Come on, hurry! Let's go! We have to go that way." I point behind us.

"Rach, you have no idea where we are and you're gonna just walk out there?!"

I grab her hand, "What else can we do? We don't have any choice and we don't have any money. In fact, we don't have anything except each other!"

She stares at me, then looks down the alley and gasps.

"What?" I also look and jump. Those- those Frawn! The two from earlier are walking toward us. They have no emotion on their faces.

"Oh god, they look like they mean business Rach!" Meagan jumps behind me.

We start backing away. The Frawn suddenly disappear in a flash of light right in front of us. WHOA!

I quickly start backing up and then bump into someone. Spinning around, I look up and see Arinna staring down at me and I accidentally squeak. Meagan widens her eyes at us and backs into Euria. "Ah!" She jumps forward.

I swallow hard as Arinna tilts her head at me and asks, "You are the older human female... Rachel?" I fall completely silent. How did they get behind us so fast? We both heard this one speak but its mouth moved completely wrong for English! She also sounds Russian.

"Yeeah- Yes! I'm Rachel! Arinna, you must be- I mean, are you Arinna?" Holy fudge, I'm talking to an alien!

Arinna then looks at Meagan, "I am indeed. This is my sister Euria." she motions to the other Frawn, whom has the younger features. So that one's... Meagan's guardian... I guess?

She looks back to me, "We are here as your guardians by order of Qadira."

I repeatedly flick my eyes from her to Euria in complete surprise and wonder. I don't realize that I slowly mutter "wow" under my breath.

"I hear English... are you speaking English?" Meagan whispers to them.

Euria bends down just a little and gets in her face, "No... you have been given the gift of universal translation from Qadira. It is a great thing she has given you. Only Frawn have this gift. You must be very special to her. From this day forward you will understand any language you hear. Also, whatever you say will be translated to what the other person understands. Do you understand?"

Blinking many times at her, Meagan nods slowly, then definitely. I purse my lips, looking from her to the Frawn twice.

"Be warned though, for your own safety, do not speak to anyone without our permission. This is not Earth." Arinna says.

"Where are we then?" I ask in a small voice, sounding much like a concerned child.

"Acronus..." Arinna replies, "Your clothing is inappropriate for where you are. We must go now."

She's so... robotic. Her voice is monotone and she's straight to the point. No warmth, just cold steel. We have to technically live with these two? For how long? I don't want to do this. I want to go home!

I point to my chest, "You want us to go... with you? We don't want to do this. Can't Qadira choose other people? Why not you guys?"

For that, I receive two cold, piercing stares from the Frawn.

"You mustn't disrespect The Great Lord's decisions. You will come with us." Arinna answers. She and Euria start walking back down the alley.

Jeez! Just like that, they walk away? No more room for questions? They sure don't seem to know what comforting others means!

I glance at Meagan with a perplexed expression. She's just as thrown off as I am.

With a small uneasy sigh, I say, "We... have to go. We have no choice."

I take her hand and she quickly looks into my eyes with worry. "Rach-"

"We have to make it ok." I give a small reassuring nod and faint smile.

Her eyes drop, then she removes her hand from mine, "Fine... I guess you're right." she starts walking after the Frawn.

As I watch her leaving, all that's going through my head is a nonstop plead for our safety, a short and hopefully easy task, and a quick return home.

Frowning slightly, I hurriedly meet up with them all as they turn out of the alley.

There before us, we see a busy street full of people and then I realize what Arinna meant by a change of wardrobe. The people here are dressed like the early 1900's in Europe. Meagan is also staring at the way they're dressed. Arinna notices her behavior and tells her, "Move ahead and do not look them in the eyes."

Meagan looks up at her, then turns her head down. I also do that and soon mumble, "These people aren't so different from humans, but they're clearly not humans."

"Yeah, I'm sure of that." She mutters.

As we move down the sidewalk, the people give us a wide birth and a bunch of weird looks. The buildings are quite tall and close together with water-toned colors; yellows and some tan textures too. There are signs on the storefronts, but they're not in any language I've ever seen. The street is not very wide as the people move around. This city is amazing and it looks so much like something I've seen in video games. Am I in awe, or am I terrified? I don't know!

We see Arinna raise a hand as she looks at the traffic. A single black vehicle that looks like a minivan moves toward us and stops. I can't see any wheels or windows on it. Two doors open and Euria motions us to get inside. Meagan looks at me uncomfortably; having eyes that say: 'Are we getting in there?!'

I ask Arinna where we're going. She looks at me silently and only points and nods her head toward the vehicle. Euria places a hand on my shoulder, "You must trust us, Rachel."

I don't say anything to her; I only wonder what's going to happen next.

Gently, I take Meagan's hand and start to get into the vehicle.

"Are you out of your mind!" She jerks away.

"Meg, please! Don't do this in front of everyone!" I quickly say while anxiously looking around.

"Look, I'm scared, ok?! I can't just get in there and be fine with it!"

"It will not harm you." Arinna sighs.

Meagan shoots her a look and it's silent between us all for a moment.

"Please," Euria places her hand on Meagan's shoulder, leaning down next to her head and speaking softly, "get inside the vehicle."

Meagan uncomfortably moves away from her, pushing her hand off. She looks from me to her and Arinna, then finally, she steps forward with a sort of growl and sits down inside.

I follow right after while she slides over on the bench seat. As she's doing this, the entire overhead in the vehicle lights up unexpectedly. She flicks her attention up to it and stares wide-eyed at it. The Frawn get in on the other seat and Arinna gives me a shush finger over her mouth as the doors close.

She says, "Take us to the Skyrodrome." I have no idea who she said that to.

While sitting in here, I can't see a driver or the outside. Meagan is getting claustrophobic pretty fast and I am too. Arinna touches the inside wall of the vehicle and a transparent panel appears. Euria does the same to the other side.

Hey! Now we can see out! Good, we can relax a little now!

"Can anyone see us?" Meagan asks.

"No... nothing has changed our outside appearance." Euria says.

"Who's driving?" I ask.

"If you must know... have a look." Arinna reaches toward the front and touches another black panel. Instantly, it disappears and we see another Frawn driving. Well, I didn't expect that!

I sit back and stay quiet for a moment.

Meagan and I are really starting to notice the ride is incredibly smooth.

"What kind of car is this?" I innocently ask.

Euria smiles just a little, "This is not a car; it is what you on Earth call an anti-gravity vehicle."

Oh wow! I look at Meagan, "Anti-gravity! We don't have cars that can do this!"

She remains silent but also looks just as amazed as I do. Arinna tilts her head to Euria, "Well... not yet."

Meagan and I see the scenery is beginning to change to a more industrial area.

"You said we're on Acronus... Is the entire planet like this?" I quietly ask.

Arinna stares at me, "Of course not. We are in Connall city in the country of Kitaria."

Meagan raises her eyebrows, "...I can't believe this is happening. Mom and Dad must be freaking out trying to find us."

"Time here is different from Earth. Your parents are fine." Arinna tells her.

Meagan looks her in the eyes, "How do you know that?!"

Arinna leans forward, "All Frawn are connected in this Galaxy. We can sense your parents through the Frawn protecting them."

"What? Protecting our parents from what?" I ask Arinna.

"Events have been put into motion that must play out. As long as you are under our protection, so shall they be." She tells me.

"Do they know this?" Meagan asks.

"No." Arinna answers.

Meagan begins to tear up and grabs my hand. "Rach, I really don't want to do this."

Arinna sits back in her seat while watching Meagan. "You are stronger than you know. We Frawn have watched humans evolve for thousands of years. You will prevail."

I study both Frawn up and down. "How old are you?"

Arinna slightly smirks, "I am roughly 650 Earth years old. Euria is my younger sister."
Meagan and I both let out a stunned "Wow!"

"How long will you live?" I ask.

"About 750 Earth years. As I said, time is different depending on where you are in the Galaxy. Right now you are aging slower than on Earth. You do not perceive it though." Arinna explains. Meagan and I get quiet again, trying to take this all in.

The vehicle stops and we look out the windows on both sides. We are now inside what looks like a very large aircraft hanger with huge single pane windows near one end. There are several weird looking aircraft and vehicles and people here. All of the panels in the vehicle we're in go black and the doors open. The first out is Euria. She cautiously looks around the vehicle and beyond, then waits for us to get out.

Arinna tells us, "You must do exactly what we tell you. It's for your safety."

I look out the doors, asking, "What are we doing?"

"Here in the Skyrodrome, there is a skyship named the 'Prota'. The captain is an Acronite named Gideon. He is a friend and will be of use to us." Arinna says.

"Well, I guess we better get out and go." I mutter. Arinna nods in agreement and goes first. Meagan's next, then I get out. The doors on the vehicle shut and it moves away from us. So quiet it is...

Euria motions for us to move. Again we're between the Frawn and we're walking at a brisk pace through many people towards one of the skyships. This must be some sort of an airport... but indoors? All of the crafts in this place are amazing to look at. All of them are different shapes and sizes. Some look like large birds and others more like flying hotels with hundreds of widows. Then there are some like single seat airplanes.

We're heading for one larger, dark amethyst ship that's shaped almost like a blimp, but shorter in height. It looks like it's floating... Must be anti-gravity too. It's kind of sparkly; like metal flake paint. Its wings -- or what I assume are its wings -- seem to be tucked away in its sides. The front of it looks like half of an octagon with a large viewing window. It's really weird but really cool at the same time. I point at it slightly, "That's the Prota?"

"Correct." Arinna responds.

"Wow..." Meagan whispers.

"Wow...?" Euria asks.

"Oh..." Meagan shakes her head, "Nothing. It's a human thing to say."

"Right. It's been a while for me." Euria lifts an eyebrow.

We reach our destination and Arinna goes first up the gangway to the outer door, stopping short. "Wait here." she says. Euria stays behind us, observing the people we just passed.

Meg and I watch Arinna press a button next to the door and it opens. She goes inside and the door closes behind her. As we wait, Meagan notices some people walking around with skin like smooth tree bark. She asks Euria, "What's up with their skin?"

Euria looks over at them. "Those are Diwatans from Taneton wood -- a large forested area on the far side of this planet -- and don't worry, Meagan, there is nothing wrong with their skin."

Meagan shuts her mouth tightly.

The door on the skyship opens behind me. I turn around and see Arinna and a man about 35 years old wearing clothes that seem like they're from a pirate movie set. Only, he doesn't have the hat. Oh... my god. What even is this!

"Gideon, this is Rachel and Meagan."

He looks down at us for a second and then says, "You want me to take these girls aboard?" He has a thick British accent; I can't believe my ears! I love British accents!

Arinna continues, "I have already explained a few things to them. They will not trouble you."

He stares into Arinna's eyes and wags a finger at her, to which she smirks at, then he looks at us, "Very well then... Welcome aboard the Prota, young ladies." He walks back inside and we follow after Arinna, all the while, I'm still lost in how he's dressed and his accent. If he's on another planet, why does he sound this way?

Euria stays behind us for a few seconds, watching the people below and then she comes inside. She powers the door shut and locks it.

As we look around in here, I remember a couple years ago, Dad took us on a tour of an old navy ship. This looks a little bit like it. My eyes water a little. I miss them...

We walk into a large room that appears to be a sort of lounge with faint yellow walls and gray steel flooring. Straight ahead is a kitchen area. On what looks to be a couch by a wall, Meagan and I see two young 'Aconites' – I guess I'd call them that – who look about 15 or 16 years old. A girl and a boy.

They both stand up and Gideon points to them, saying, "This is Phillip and this young lady is Kendal. This is Rachel and Meagan." They look at us curiously and say hello – in American accents!

We say hello back and then they really get curious. Kendal seems a bit aggressive.

She walks up to Meagan who is a little smaller and says, "What language do you speak?"

Arinna stops her, "They have the gift of universal translation. That is all you need to know for now."

Phillip's mouth drops open, "How do I get that?"

"You don't." Euria says.

I hug my arms close as I notice how Gideon is staring at us. His eyes are a strange color. Very bright brown – almost beige – with faint blue pupils. I don't think he's ever met anyone with this gift before who wasn't a Frawn. He's noticeably nervous about it.

Meagan and I watch him ask Arinna to follow him to the bridge. She agrees and the two leave us. Euria walks to the doorway where we came in and stands there quietly. Hm, she's pretty anti-social.

Kendal is thin and fairly tanned. She's wearing black pants and a tan pullover shirt with long sleeves. Her shoes are sort of like sneakers but look like leather. She has silky blonde hair to the middle of her back. Phillip is a little taller, more tanned, and has short brown hair. He's wearing dark blue pants and a white semi-long sleeve shirt. He has black boots and a black belt. Both of them have eyes we have never seen before. They're almond-shaped and almost a hazel green, which is normal, but with that same blue shade to their pupils... very beautiful and strange to look at. They also notice our appearance.

Kendal asks, "Where are you from?"

Euria makes a sound with her throat. She stares at the two Acronites sternly.

"Well, that's not fair. We don't know anything about them. When can we know more?"

Euria doesn't answer her.

"Hmph." Kendal then grabs Phillip by the hand and sits down. Phillip is staring at us and it's beginning to bother me.

Euria says, "You two can sit down. They won't bite."

I give her a 'Really? No kidding!' look. Meagan and I walk side by side to another couch and sit down.

"Can we ask any questions?" I ask Euria.

"You are guests here. You may ask, but you may not be answered. There is no disrespect intended." She replies. Okayy? - Meagan's thinking to herself.

Meagan tilts her head at her and I glance at Kendal. She's visibly pissed off. I get the impression she thinks we are a threat to her as far as her relationship with Phillip is concerned. Phillip is very curious about us but I think he is more afraid of Euria than Kendal. I then ask Euria if there is a bathroom we can use.

"Yes, of course." Euria then nods at Kendal, "Kendal, show Rachel and Meagan the way and guide them to their room as well, please."

"A room? They're staying-?! Ugh... It's this way." Kendal lets out a 'Humph' and stands up.

Meagan and I, both a little nervous about her attitude, stand together and follow her out of the room. Apparently, Euria has been here before...

We walk past Euria and head down a passageway with doors lining both sides. Kendal takes us to a door at the end with a symbol on it that I can't read -- heck, they all have symbols that I can't read!

"What does this say?" I point at it.

"You can't read?" Kendal asks, flabbergasted.

I look at Meagan, "Well uh, we can't read it if it's not in English."

Kendal makes a puzzled face. "English?"

"Yeah." I nod.

"This says facilities." She taps it.

"Ok, great!" Meagan quickly thanks her and pulls down on the door handle, "I really have to go, Rachel."

A little stunned at her actions, I nod understandably and briefly smile at Kendal.

"Now the spare room. C'mon." Kendal starts walking back the way we came and stops at a door. I blink and quickly follow.

"Here you are. Make yourself at home." She opens the door and I'm immediately hit with an odd smell.

"We just painted this not too long ago." she explains, to which I give a faint nod.

"Ok, thanks..." I smile in that same way again, but she doesn't seem amused. "Uh, well, we'll see you in a little while then." I say as I slowly close the door. Kendal has a look on her face like she's saying; 'You're welcome... I guess?'

I shut the door and lean against it. "Wow, this is so weird." This is similar a luxury cabin on a cruise ship in a way. That's impressive... It has a few pieces of furniture and a large bed.

A few moments later, I hear some kind of struggle down the hall. It sounds like Meagan's having a problem, but before I can reach for the handle, the door shoves me forward and Meagan marches her way to the middle of the room.

"Whoa... What happened?" I ask, noticing she's drenched.

She looks at me angrily, "When you go to the bathroom and you see that thing -- the thing that looks like a toilet seat -- well, there's a button right there next to it. Don't touch that button! I thought that is how you flush it. No! A panel opened up and a spray nozzle came out and this is what I got!"

First, I was horrified. Now, I'm trying hard to be serious but I can't do it very well.

"Well, did you flush it?" I ask, covering my mouth. She grits her teeth, "No, it's automatic! And there is no paper!"

I burst out laughing, "Thanks for checking it out for me. There's a towel hanging right there by that shelf! My turn!" I push her out and go down the hall to that 'scary place' to do my business. I don't touch anything except the towels. Obviously this is a different culture and we had better get used to it -- for now. I leave the bathroom and return to see Meagan sitting on the bed with the towel under her.

"Meagan, I think it's time for us to start asking a lot of questions. Up to now, we have been led around and not said much. I don't want these people to think we're pushovers. And we stepped into that tree with the water around it, talked to some weird lady at a restaurant and now we're here on 'Acronus' with those two creatures who are supposedly our guardians."

Meagan lies down on her back, "Thanks for the summary. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. But how to ask the questions, that's the thing. And by the way, that Kendal girl looks smarter than that boy."

I raise my eyebrows, "I think we should be careful around her; I get the impression she thinks we're after Phillip." She ponders over what I say and scoffs.

"Right. I kind of doubt it."

I see a chair a few feet away from the bed, so I take a seat. "Been a long day, huh?" I sigh. She nods and closes her eyes. I look around the room again, then there's a knock on the door. She quickly sits up and looks at me like checking for reassurance. I put my palm up at her like I mean 'stay there' and open the door slightly. I see Kendal and Phillip in the passageway, each holding a tray of something. What's this...?

Kendal looks down her nose at me, "Hungry?"

"Actually, um..." I think about it. This is alien food we'd be chowing down on, but we can't starve ourselves. We have to eat. "Well, ok." I say, "Yeah, I am. Meagan, are you hungry?" I ask. Meagan, though feeling reluctant, gestures me to let them in. She must have been thinking the same thing as me.

They both enter the room and set the trays down on a small table in one corner.

"It smells good. What is it?" I ask.

"Ruell. I made it myself." Kendal says. I look at the trays for a good few seconds. You know, this stuff really resembles Mac and Cheese! Meagan smells it from the bed and stands up to get a better look. "I swear I smell Mac and Cheese."

Kendal doesn't know whether to be offended or not. "What is Mac and Cheese?" she asks. Meagan walks over to the trays and puts her finger in the food. She smells it, then puts it in her mouth. "Yup. It's macaroni and cheese! I just so happen to love this stuff."

That relieves Kendal. She immediately smiles.

"Try the drink." she says. I take the cup and sip from it.

"Tastes like... cherry Kool-Aid!" I smile. Kendal is even more pleased now.

I've noticed Phillip is still staring at us. He won't say anything. But then, he sees Meagan's pants are wet. He looks at the floor, "Trouble with the water?"

Meagan gives him a wary expression, "Nothing I can't handle."

She and I get the trays of food and sit down to eat.

Kendal sits on a small couch with Phillip and smiles softly. That seems kind of odd of her, but I won't question it.

"I'm curious; where did you come from? You're not from around here." she asks.

I think about what the Frawn explained earlier.

"We were told not to speak to anyone without the Frawn's permission." I reply, "But... they let you in here with us so I guess we can talk a little bit."

Meagan becomes a little worried.

I nod at her, "It'll be ok."

"You're right." I tell them, readjusting myself on the seat, "We aren't from around here. I don't think it's a good idea for me to tell you where we're from right now. I can tell you other things though."

Kendal becomes a little frustrated. "Have you been to Sedo?"
Sedo...?

"I... I'm sorry. We don't know about Sedo." I reply.

She really gets annoyed and suddenly stands up. "Where are you from?"

Surprised, I watch her with my guard up higher than before.

"Kendal, calm down!" Phillip hushes her. She looks at him.

I speak up, "Listen, I think maybe Meagan and I can be more cooperative if you tell us about you first!"

She stands still for a minute, then sits back down, "Alright, what do you want to know?"
Meagan slowly looks away from her as if saying 'wow, this girl's got issues...' and takes a bite of her food.

I calm myself a little and begin, "Well... we really don't know where we are, or what kind of craft this is and you two are the only people we have talked to besides the Frawn."

Phillip's eyes widen and Kendal is immediately astonished.

"You are not from the aligned worlds...? Who are you really?" she asks.

I look at Meagan with some trepidation and answer the best I can. "We were brought here for a purpose, but we're not sure what it is yet. We're not so different from you, Kendal. I'll bet we have a lot in common."

"Maybe..." she says.

"Please, tell us about you and Phillip." I kindly ask.

"Well," she sighs, "we have been with Gideon for about 2 years now, since our parents were killed in Sedo. We're from here but Gideon is from a different country called Ofin. Phillip and I went to school together and ended up with Gideon because of the invasion... It was the last day of school before the midyear break. Our parents were close friends and decided we would all go on a trip to Sedo. They went ahead of us to get a good place to stay. From time to time, Gideon was hired by them to do things, including taking Phillip and I places. So, they asked him to take us to Sedo at the end of the day. He picked us up and we went to the Prota. When we got there, Arinna stopped us. She talked to Gideon for a minute and then told us our parents were dead. I asked her why. She said that the dictator of Ofin named 'Winston' invaded Sedo and killed all the people who were not Ofinian. She said we couldn't go there because it wasn't safe. I pleaded with Arinna knowing her abilities and that she could defeat them all!-But... no. She said she was not allowed to interfere. I still don't understand it! The Frawn are so powerful, but do nothing! Nothing!" Her eyes are starting to water. God, I couldn't imagine being them... Poor, poor kids...

I see Phillip is staring at the floor and Kendal is trying to keep her composure. I feel so bad for them. Meagan and I still have our parents. At least, I'd like to think so!

"Kendal, we had no idea... I'm sorry." I say.

"It's alright, how could you know?" she shrugs, gazing sadly at the floor.

Phillip looks at her, "We have each other, and that suits me just fine. We are always trying to get information about Sedo because we really don't know much about what's been happening there. Arinna said our parents were dead, but that's all she said."

Meagan pushes her tray away and asks, "You say the Frawn are powerful; what do you mean exactly?"

"You don't have them where you're from, do you?" Phillip asks, "They're an ancient race. We were taught about them very early in our lives. They are known as Mages. They can bend light and disappear right in front of you. They can move 10 times faster than any Acronite and they can summon edged weapons in battle. They are fearless warriors."

My mouth drops open to all this. Holy crap...

"You say 'summon weapons'... how does that work?" Meagan asks.

Phillip gestures with his hands like he's holding something like a knife. "They are defensive fighters. They never attack first. But if they're attacked, they will automatically form those edged weapons in each hand and vanish in a flash of light. No one can figure that out. Those weapons are a part of them. The next time you see them, the fight is over. The enemy is usually cut to pieces and the weapons the Frawn used are gone. They will pray over the enemy after the fight, then leave. Most people never witness a Frawn in action." He says.

"Whoa..." I look at Meagan as she stares at him. "That's incredible!"

"If they can do all that..." Meagan says, "I understand why the people get out of their way."

"Me too." I nod.

Phillip stands up while stretching and tries to change the subject. "Yeah... We stay with Gideon and do stuff for him now. No more school for us. Where do you go to school?"

"Oh, well we're home-schooled." Meagan shrugs.

Kendal starts to brighten up a bit. "I wish I could have done that. The government where we used to live doesn't allow it. Now it doesn't matter. Really, being with Gideon traveling all over the world has been a better education for us, I think." She says.

"Meagan and I understand completely." I say.

"Can you tell us about your home?" Phillip asks.

Meagan lightly chuckles, "Well, it's a lot like here with some differences."

"Wow." Phillip mumbles, scratching his head.

"Hey, you know what? It was nice to meet you girls. We can discuss this stuff some more, later." Kendal smiles at us, standing up now. I also stand up and smile. Kendal looks at Phillip, "I think we should let these two get used to us before we ask any more questions, if that's alright with you."

"Sure, of course." he agrees.

They both go to the door and Kendal says, "If you need anything, just use the caller."

I step closer to her, "Hold on – what's a caller?"

She grins at us, "It's over there on the wall with the small screen on it."
Oh... I also notice her teeth are a little shorter, like small squished marshmallows. It's an odd observation, but I can't think of anything else. I try not to show any change in my mood.

I only say, "Ok, thanks."

She opens the door and we see Euria standing there. She looks different to me now because of what I was just told about the Frawn. I think I also understand why they behave the way they do.

"May I come in?" She politely asks.

Kendal looks up at her, "We were just leaving."

Euria waits for Kendal and Phillip to leave, then she steps inside the room. She closes the door and stands there for a few seconds, looking around.

"Is there anything you need?" she asks.

"Yes, as a matter of fact there is." Meagan answers, then she says, "Why are we here?"
It's beginning to annoy me that Euria continues to stand at the door.

"What are you looking for, Euria?"

"The enemy." she replies.

"What enemy?" I ask.

"Dark Frawn." She tells me.

"I don't understand. I thought all Frawn are good." I say.

"On your world, humans believe in angels and demons. Actually, they are Frawn. We are seldom seen on your world and when we are, we ensure human perception is flawed. Humans never describe us the same way twice. It's the will of Qadira."

"You mean there may be a dark Frawn in here right now?" I ask.

"The room is clear. It's best to be aware at all times."

"What would a dark Frawn want with us?" Meagan asks.

"All Frawn observe other sentient beings -- it's what we do. We gather information and witness events. To a Frawn... your being here on Acronus is an important historical event." Euria patiently responds.

"What exactly is a dark Frawn?" I ask.

"A dark Frawn is morally corrupt, but will not violate the laws of Qadira."

"What happens when they violate the laws?" I ask.

"They are destroyed by other Frawn, by the will of Qadira."

All of this sounds incredible to us but we have to consider where we are. We sit quietly for a few seconds because we don't know what to say, so I discreetly change the subject.

"Well, there are a few other things we need to discuss. These are the only clothes we have. Who do we need to see about that?" I ask.

"Kendal is about your size. I will ask if she is has some things for you to wear."

Meagan makes a face like 'what about me?'

I smirk at her mockingly, "Maybe she has something you can wear too."

Euria slightly smiles and tilts her head.

What the... Her two front teeth are like arrow heads! That's freaky! I don't think Frawn smile very much either, because it looks like she's struggling.
