Chapter Two: Her

Paul POV

I slowly started to wake up, the light from the sun glaring through the windows of my suite.

As always, I fell asleep on my back and I was waking up in the same position. However, my eyes opened when I realized the weight of a certain someone under my arm was missing.

"MK?" I called for her, sitting up while I observed the surrounding area.

Hearing no response and seeing only my clothes on the ground, I knew she had likely slipped out while I was sleeping.

I then noticed writing on the hotel's complementary notepad that was rested on the nightstand, and when I crawled over and read her letter - it was confirmed.

"Thanks for the escape - MK"

"What a waste." I said to myself. "I should have got her number."

I rested on my back and closed my eyes as vivid images of the steamy round filled my head.

Her creamy smooth skin and sweet floral scent, the enticing gaze in her big brown eyes and the taste of her vanilla flavored lips, the raspy sound of her laughter and those frivolous moans that kept me motivated as us two strangers enjoyed each other's company until the wee hours of the morning.

I sighed, my eyes opening as I stood up from the bed and accepted last night for exactly what it was - a one night stand.

I made my way into the luxury bathroom of the suite to get ready for the day, the cream colored marble walls and floors accompanied by white bathroom appliances.

I took a quick shower, blowdried my hair, did my morning skin routine, and brushed my teeth before I slipped on today's outfit.

Since it was move in day, I kept it just as simple as yesterday. I was wearing a grey crew neck this time, with light distressed denim jeans and my converse shoes.

I then ordered room service, which was delivered and served on the balcony table quickly since I was a VIP guest, and as I enjoyed a traditional American breakfast I scrolled though social media to see what my best friends back at home were up to.

We were well known heirs of major businesses and conglomerates in South Korea, and though this was not my first time parting from the four guys that were practically bothers to me - it felt different this time.

We were getting older, and things were changing.

Min-jun, the wisest of the group, and his beautiful wife were on their honeymoon in Greece.

Eun-woo, our playful maknae, and his girlfriend appeared to have received the approval of his parents despite the fact she's bisexual and considered a commoner where we're from.

Nam-joon, the mysterious one who was also my best wingman, was settling down nicely with the newest addition of our friend circle - An Korean American girl who was as wild as him and I.

"What's our foreign princess up to?" I said to myself, scrolling through the Instagram of the most impressive member of the group before I noticed a FaceTime call coming in from him.

"Hyung!" I chimed, smiling as soon as I saw Min-seok's face on my screen.

"Ho-seok!" Min-seok exclaimed. "I meant to call you when I woke up, but by time I got around to it I figured you were already sleeping."

"Me? Sleeping as soon as I arrive to the States?" I joked. "Not a chance."

"I was hoping you were staying out of trouble." Min-seok chuckled.

He was ready for bed given how late in was in Korea right now, the shirtless man laying on his back while I imagine his stunning fiancée was getting ready to take her place beside him.

"How was your first night?" Min-seok asked. "Since you didn't sleep, I'm assuming you did what you do and found entertainment?"

"To say the least." I cheekily admitted. "She was gorgeous, and the sex was top tier. "

"Wow." Min-seok breathed, shaking his head. "Aren't you tired of meaningless sex yet? How do you still do it so easily? Sleep with strangers like it's nothing."

I shrugged. "Sex is just a fun activity to me. I don't take it too seriously."

"At least tell me you used protection last night, hyung." He sighed.

"Of course." I replied. "She wouldn't let it happen if I didn't."

"She set the boundary?" He emphasized. "Ho-seok, you're the heir of one of the biggest and most successful international law firms in the world. You need to do better, man. You're going to knock someone up one day."

"Why would you say that?" I exclaimed. "Don't speak that into existence, man. Come on!"

"You're lucky it hasn't happened already!" Min-seok continued, cracking up. "You haven't been able to keep it in your pants since you came back from Canada five years ago. I think it's fair to call you an addict."

I slightly froze, my heart dropping as memories I've avoided sharing, let alone thinking about, crept into my head.

"You know I hate labels." I winked before a familiar voice appeared on the other side of the call.

"Are you on the phone with Paul?" Danny asked, and Min-seok nodded. "I want to say hi!"

I watched Min-seok readjust his position on the bed before I saw his fiancée's notorious smile.

"Paul!" The brown skin beauty chimed, her long dark curly hair damp and falling in front of her shoulders. "We miss you so much, already!"

"I miss everyone too. It won't be long until I'm home for the holidays though." I assured her.

"Yeah, as long as you stay out of trouble." She joked. "Did I hear things correctly? You already had a one night stand? It's not even been 24 hours since your flight landed!"

I bit my bottom lip, making her snap her tongue as she scolded me.

"Be careful and don't do anything stupid that's going to get you stuck there."

"Have you always been this concerned about me?" I smirked. "Are you sure Min-seok is the one you want?"

"Ya!" Min-seok yelled, snatching his phone from Danny as we laughed at him. "How many times do I have to tell you, stop flirting with her!"

"It's all fun and games, hyung! I promise!"

"Sure it is." Min-seok replied, playfully rolling his eyes as I watched the perfect couple cuddle in bed. "I'm glad to see you got to America safely. Don't be a stranger. You'd disappear for months when you lived in Canada. Don't do that again, hyung."

"You got it." I replied. "Take care of yourself, and our foreign princess."

"Will do." Min-seok chuckled, kissing her forehead.

"Don't hesitate to call or text me too!" Danny beamed. "We're family."

"Of course, gorgeous. Talk soon."

I ended the call, the many pictures Min-seok had posted of him and Danny appearing on my screen again as I set my phone down to the side.

Admittedly, there was a part of my that envied my friends and their new found loves.

Just one year ago, we were South Korea's top bachelors and enjoying our precious youth in our last year of undergrad at Seoul National University. Now four out of five of us were in serious relationships and all of their priorities had shifted, leaving me behind in a way.

"My acceptance to Harvard came right on time." I breathed, just to zone out as memories of my high school days in Canada flooded my mind again.

Though the boys knew nothing about it, I had my reasons for disappearing here and there while I was in Canada, and it was the same reason I chose to enroll in Harvard as well.

I set my fork down, and looked through my contacts as the same contemplation that's been occupying my brain for months surfaced.

"Should I just send a text?" I asked myself, my thumb hovering over her contact information.

However, an incoming call grabbed my attention and it was from the young man who basically raised me during my time in Canada.

"Johnny!" I answered. "Are you here?"

"Hey, punk!" He chuckled. "Yeah, I'm outside. Are you ready?"

"Yeah, I'll be down in a few. Give me ten!"

I ended the call and rushed out of the chair before I used the TV to check out of the hotel room.

I then grabbed all of my belongings, made my way through the hotel, and I was walking out of the building within minutes.

As expected, the dashing Korean Canadian looked as cool as ever waiting for me - His silky shoulder length brown hair blowing with the wind while he leaned against his red BMW Z4 wearing a navy blue henley shirt tucked into a pair of black dress pants.

"Damn, you look good hyung." I chimed, Johnny beaming as he shifted his designer sunglasses to the top of his head.

"I do my best." He replied, and the two of us dapped each other before we pulled it in for a tight hug. "It's been too long. You look like a grown man now!"

"I'd hope so! It's been five years." We laughed, pulling out of the hug before he rested his hand on my shoulder. "I've missed you."

"Same, man." He nodded. "I can't wait to start working with you. You're going to love the Boston office!"

"I'm sure. Dad's got nothing but praise for you and all you've done here."

"It's the least I can do. Your family practically took me in, and set up my career."

"Well you're the only reason I made it into college, so we owed you big time." I admitted. "My grades were absolute shit until you started tutoring me."

"True." He cackled. "All that matters now is that you finally made it into law school! I'm so proud of you little bro."

"Thanks, hyung."

He patted my back. "Come on. Your house is just about ready for ya."

I followed Johnny and took my place in the passenger seat of the convertible before he sped off and down the streets of Boston, Massachusetts.

"How long have you been running the Boston office now?" I asked.

"Two years." He smirked. "And we haven't lost a single case, yet!"

"That's amazing. Resumes must be flying in by the day."

"You have no idea. You know how the firm works though, we recruit and it's invite only."

I nodded, very aware of this tradition.

"Speaking of, I need your help." Johnny proceeded. "Are you still in touch with Sam?"

Once again, my heart dropped as images of her resurfaced in my mind.

"Not really." I uttered.

"What? You're kidding right?" He reacted, glancing at me. "You two were inseparable when we were in Canada! What happened?"

I shrugged. "Like I said, it's been five years. We fell out of touch when I moved to Korea..."

"Damn, that's a shame." He sighed. "There's not a law firm in Boston and Cambridge that doesn't want her, and she's still got two more years left at Harvard. If we could get her to join AHS as an intern we could train her into the perfect AHS partner and she'd even open up another world of clientele for us."

"Dad's still looking into starting an agency for entertainment talent?" I asked.

"Hell yeah, that's big money and consistent representation." Johnny chuckled. "You two are about to be students in the same law school and I'm sure she misses you. Reach out to her, and build that relationship again, okay? Consider that your first assignment as AHS Boston's newest Managing Partner."

"Wow, since when do you call the shots?"

"Don't be like that. You know it's temporary until you graduate."

"I'm just kidding hyung. No one deserves the honor of running Boston's office more than you."

Johnny smiled to me. "Thanks man. By time I'm done training you, you'll be ready to take over AHS as planned. Just don't leave me in the dust when you do."

"Not a chance. I'll keep you by my side as long as you let me." I confirmed. "You should know, I intend to move back to Korea after I graduate from Harvard."

He smirked. "Let's see if you still feel that way after a week in Boston. You thought you were free in Canada, it's even more fun in the States and the women here are something else."

I beamed, thinking about my first encounter in America all over again.

"No way, is there something you want to tell me?" Johnny asked.

I let the grin on my face and my silence answer his question while we continued to joke around and catch up. But only a few minutes past before we were pulling up to a row house that had Boston's historical look to it on the outside.

"What do you think?" Johnny asked, the two of us climbing out of his car as I looked up to the two story townhome. "You'll have to commute to Cambridge for school, but it's not a long one. 15 to 20 minute drive tops, and we'll get your Canadian license renewed this week. That will work just fine here in the States."

"Sounds good." I replied.

Johnny guided me inside the remodeled modern home before he gave me a tour.

The open styled house was fully furnished, plush grey couches placed in the living area that faced the large flatscreen TV hanging over the electric fireplace surrounded by smooth stone walls. The kitchen cabinets were a tan color, and they were placed above white counters with grey countertops and a marble wall tile backsplash was lined behind them.

The second floor had three bedrooms that were also fully furnished, one that was repurposed as my home office. The master bathroom was connected to my bedroom of choice, and both where decorated for my minimalist style.

"Last, but certainly not least." Johnny started, the two of us entering the comfy rooftop that overlooked the city. "This rooftop balcony is my favorite part."

"Hyung, this is perfect." I beamed, embracing the view. "You worked hard, thank you."

"Of course. You're here for a long time. Gotta make sure your home feels right for you."

"You know, what would make this even more perfect?" I asked, his eyebrows scrunched. "If we lived together! What am I supposed to do with all this space by myself?"

He scoffed. "You've been rich since birth. Don't feed me that bullshit."

"I'm just saying, it would be much better if we were roommates. I haven't lived alone before."

"Things are different now, Ho-seok. Respectfully, I don't want to live with a college kid." We laughed with each other, and I fully understood him already. "I'm four years older than you and we're at completely different points in our lives. You should enjoy yourself as a law student. I on the other hand am in my grown and sexy era."

"Grown and sexy era?" I teased, and he nodded as we continued to crack up.

"You'll understand one day, but until then. Have fun! This house is fully paid for by the firm, so focus on enjoying these last few years of your youth. Okay?"

"Fine." I murmured, making my older brother chuckle before we heard his phone vibrate.

"Speaking of being grown and sexy, I gotta go. I've got a date, and I really like this one."

My eyes widened. "Since when do you do commitment? I learned all my ways from you!"

He shrugged with a huge smile on his face. "One night stands are appealing for only so long. I'm ready for something consistent. I want to level up with someone."

I placed a smile on my face, despite how bummed I was that yet another one of my close friends was going down the path of commitment.

"Call me if you need anything." Johnny said as we walked down to the first floor. "I live 10 minutes away, so don't hesitate to reach out. I'll treat you to dinner this week too. Okay?"

"Yeah, hyung." I nodded. "Thanks again for everything."

"No problem! Welcome to Boston!" He chimed. "I'll catch you later."

I waved as he walked out of my townhouse, and when it was just me, myself, and I - That feeling of loneliness I had been dreading instantly surfaced.

I took a seat on the couch, sinking into the cushions as I grabbed the remote control.

I spent a good amount of time logging into my accounts on the large smart TV and by time I was settled and browsing through Netflix, a good half an hour had passed before I decided to rewatch one of my favorite shows - Bloodhounds.

As the show played in the background, I looked through my phone and started familiarizing myself with my new neighborhood, the food and entertainment around me, my commute to Harvard Law School, and even my class schedule for the first semester.

It was certainly going to take some time for me to adjust to Boston, but I knew as soon as I met the right people that would happen in no time.

Furthermore, before I came here my father had already told me who I was responsible for meeting and I was looking through each and every one of their social medias at this very moment.

"Spencer Lancaster." I whispered, scrolling through his Instagram. "The Harvard Dean's son - Sheesh, he even looks the part."

I scoffed as I observed the pictures he had posted alongside the three other men my father told me to befriend. They were all promising Harvard law students, with family backgrounds and connections my father had every intention of leveraging through me.

"How am I supposed to bond with a hockey player?" I sighed, looking at pictures of the blonde man who shamelessly referred to himself as Harvard's All American Boy. "This might be a little more exhausting than I was expecting."

I took a break from social media stalking and decided to order lunch, but as I was browsing through my options I noticed a new and unexpected text notification appear at the top of my screen and it was from her, my first love.

(Samantha Lee) Hey, it's Sam. Word on the street is you're in Boston?
