Chapter Eight: Misunderstandings
Paul POV
"Group three is up next." The professor reminded our class. "Send me your case briefings at least two days in advance and be prepared to present at the start of the next lecture!"
I glanced at my phone as I followed the group of students walking out of the auditorium.
I was anticipating a text or call from one of my close friends back in Korea but given that it was early in the morning there, I knew he was probably still sleeping.
I walked down the halls, casually socializing with my fellow classmates as I made my way to my car. It was another beautiful and lively day in Cambridge and now that I was familiar with the HLS campus, walking around felt natural and familiar to me.
Students were walking alongside their friends, many of us heading home while others were en route to their evening classes. I was amongst the former and ready to relax and clean up at my townhouse before heading out for a blind introduction I agreed to.
"Are you really okay with reviewing my case briefing?" Amber asked as we walked along the sidewalk. "I know you're insanely busy."
"Of course. I can perfect whatever you send over in my sleep." I assured the dependable Asian woman. "With the amount of times you've saved me with your notes after a Sunday out with the boys, this is the least I can do. I got you, Amber."
She blushed, pushing her long straight hair behind her ear as she looked down to the ground.
"By chance." She shyly uttered. "Are you busy tonight? I know a good hotpot spot we can try if you're interested in grabbing dinner with me."
I placed a smile on my face and though she was a beautiful girl, I didn't want to mix business with pleasure. Amber was one of many classmates that had a crush on me, but unlike the rest she was very smart and someone I was eyeing as a potential intern to bring into AHS Group.
"Thanks but-..."
"Ho-seok!" Sam interrupted, and as she approached me she locked my arm with hers. "Hey! I can't believe this is my first time seeing you on campus since school started!"
I forced some laughter, Sam's eyes shifting towards Amber.
"Sorry, did I interrupt something?" Sam continued and she even flaunted that confident and territorial smile of hers as an unnecessary warning to my classmate.
"N-No. We were just wrapping things up." Amber stuttered. "Thanks for agreeing to review my briefing, Paul. I'll text you when I send it to you."
I smiled to the intimidated young woman and watched as she walked away.
"You sure are quite the womanizer, aren't you?" Sam joked.
"It's not like that." I replied, removing my arm from her hold. "And don't do that again."
Sam was shocked as I walked away, but soon I heard her heals clacking on the sidewalk.
"Woah, what's with the attitude?" She asked, struggling to keep up with my pace.
"What's with the sudden appearance?" I countered. "I haven't heard from you since you blew me off four weeks ago."
"I blew you off?" She asked. "You're the one who didn't respond."
"Did your message warrant a response?" I replied, silencing her. "I didn't think so either."
She sighed. "I let you know I couldn't come over. Things got complicated."
"Understood." I answered, and luckily the parking lot was only yards away.
"Ho-seok." Sam proceeded as I stepped in front of my dark grey Corvette. "Come on. Stop."
"What do you want Sam?"
"Obviously, I want you to talk to me." I looked away, rolling my eyes. "Why are you being like this? You're being such a jerk."
"I'm not being a jerk." I replied. "I'm just not wasting time on you anymore."
"Excuse me?" She asked.
"I told you this last time we met. I'm not the same naive boy you dated back in high school. You don't get to just show up when it's convenient for you. Be present, or get lost."
She scoffed, her lips parted as our eyes locked.
I didn't bother waiting for her response though. I could tell she was trying to read my bluff, and admittedly a part of me was indeed bluffing.
I took a seat in my car, closed the door, buckled up, and pulled off without hesitation.
That's how you do it, Ho-seok.
I smirked seeing Sam's speechless expression through my rearview mirror.
It was a good day to have a great day, and I was all smiles driving along the road of Harvard's Cambridge campus while I listened to Kissing Strangers by Usher.
The Elite group chat was active, notifications popping up on my screen throughout my car ride home. The boys were trying to figure out what to do on this Thirsty Thursday, but since I was committed to fulfilling my promise to Min-seok and Danny, I didn't respond.
As soon as I entered my house; I took a shower, blow dried my hair, did my skin care routine, and got dressed for the evening. I even started eating a bowl of ramen by time the call I was waiting for came in.
"Hyung!" I mumbled through my latest bite.
"Hey! Sorry I'm just calling you." He replied. "I just dropped Danny off at the university library and I'm heading into the office now."
I chuckled, wiping my mouth down. "You're running behind again this morning I see."
"Hyung, it's literally impossible to keep my hands to myself waking up to a beauty like her." He admitted. "We've been living together for months, and I still can't get enough."
"Good thing you put a ring on it then, yeah?"
"Absolutely." Min-seok chuckled. "I'm short on time but Danny said that her cousin agreed to meeting with you. She seems to be pretty type A and private like Danny though. She wasn't comfortable with you having her number so she gave Danny an address to send you."
"That's fair." I replied. "What time?"
"Literally within the hour." He replied, making my eyes widen. "7:30 pm your time."
"Shit!" I reacted, standing up from my kitchen table. "Alright, I'll head out now."
"Okay, she goes by Kayla within the family." Min-seok proceeded, and I was already grabbing my wallet and keys. "Danny gave her your English name since it's easier."
"Got it." I answered, walking out of my townhouse. "I assume you have no pictures to share?"
"No, she deleted all her social media a while ago." MIn-seok replied.
"I'm always happy to do Danny a favor, but what am I walking into?"
"I have no idea. Danny never really mentioned her until recently. I think they may have had a falling out at some point."
"And she still wants me to meet her?" I asked, my phone now connected to my car's audio system as I drove towards the location Min-seok sent me.
"Yeah. Danny said she needs someone as persistent as you."
"What does that even mean?"
"Just be you, hyung." Min-seok chuckled. "Well to an extent."
"Again, what does that mean?"
"Keep it in your pants." He quickly responded, warranting laugher from the both of us. "She's about to be family and even if Danny and her aren't on the best of terms, I can tell Danny cares about her. She wouldn't have asked this of you if she didn't so don't do what you do. Do not sleep with her Ho-seok, I'm serious."
"Who says she'll be my type?"
"You saw Danny's mom at the Nam Group gala." Min-seok said, and I remembered the MILF that shook our entire group that evening. Danny's dad was handsome too. "Her family seems to have the best genes I've ever seen. I don't even know if she's Danny's maternal and paternal cousin, but either way I just have a feeling she's going to be attractive."
"Fine." I replied, because if she looked anything like Min-seok's fiancée this really would require discipline on my end. "I promise, I won't let anything happen and I'll treat her like a sister since that's basically what she is. You're marrying her cousin, which makes her my family too."
"I'm holding you to that." Min-seok replied. "I really appreciate you for doing this though. I think she's been having a hard time, so she won't be pleasant. She didn't want to do this."
"Who am I?" I joked. "It doesn't get more charming than me. I got it. Don't worry."
"Alright, I have to go." Min-seok said. "I'm pulling into Nam HQ now. Let me know how everything goes and again, thank you for this."
"Of course, man. Have a good day at work."
I ended the call and continued down the road when an incoming call from Donnell surfaced on the infotainment screen of my car this time.
"Yo, what's up?" I answered.
"Man, please tell me you're coming out with us tonight." Donnell pleaded, making me laugh. "I didn't realize how much I needed another level headed person in the group."
"I'm sorry. I have plans tonight." I answered.
"Respectfully, we're the only friends you have in Boston! What are you doing if you're not with us? Don't tell me, someone got you to actually go on a date?"
"Naw, it's not like that." I chuckled. "She's family of a close friend of mine back in Korea so I am meeting up with her for drinks to see if we click or not."
"Click? I'm sorry, this sounds like a blind date! It is 2024, ya'll still do that shit in Korea?"
"I'm telling you it's not like that. She's basically about to become family. My best friend is marrying her cousin so she's completely off limits."
"Damn you're a real one." He complemented. "Well the night's young. If whatever this is ends early, do your boy a favor and join us. You make the nights out with Spencer and Chase a lot more bearable for Antonio and I."
I smirked, understanding that more than ever following the assault I witnessed last weekend.
I had grown weary of Chase and Spencer but Antonio, Donnell, and myself seemed to be on the same page and much of me knew it was because we were minorities in this country.
"I'm pulling up to the restaurant now." I said to Donnell as I turned off my engine. "I'm late so I need to head in. I'll let you know if I can make it out later."
"Alright, good luck!" He chuckled, and I ended the call before I stepped out of my car.
I found street parking easily, only a block away from Kayla's restaurant of choice.
It was a popular Mexican spot in Boston, well know for it's tequila bar, which told me quite a bit about Danny's cousin. Most of the time, a woman serious about her tequila was free spirited, confident, and generally very sexy.
Despite the red flags Min-seok raised, her choice was already a good start.
"Hola, how can I help you sir?" A hostess asked as I looked around the open restaurant.
"I'm good, I see the bar area from here." I replied, smiling to the woman. "It's self seating?"
"Yes, sir." She chimed. "Enjoy!"
I did as Min-seok's text instructed. Instead of doing a formal dinner, Danny's cousin asked me to meet her at the bar area so we could keep this casual.
I walked through the restaurant and mentally prepared myself to turn on my charm. However, my smile fell as soon as I spotted a very unsettling pair of eyes glaring at me.
"Wow." MK scoffed, my lips parting. "Boston is seriously way too small."
Despite how much I wanted to provide a smug response to the bitter woman, I ignored her. But as luck would have it, the only open table for me to sit at was the one beside hers.
"Really?" She sassed. "You can't sit at the bar?"
"I'm meeting someone, and there is only one seat open there so no." I answered.
"Great - just when I thought this evening couldn't get any worse."
I sighed. "Listen, this isn't ideal for me either. Let's just do what we decided and act like we don't know each other. This meeting is really important to me, so please don't intervene."
"Intervene?" She asked. "And why would I do that?"
"Well you seem to think you know everything about me but you actually know nothing. When she gets here, mind your business and keep your reactions and comments to yourself."
"Wow, so it's another woman you're about to manipulate." She taunted. "Bless her heart."
I rolled my eyes, but made a firm decision to ignore MK as I looked around for a woman who either resembled Danny or was looking for someone. However, I didn't notice anyone that fit either of the two descriptions and it appeared I beat Kayla to the restaurant.
I scanned the QR code and started looking at my options for the late happy hour while I waited for her. I even put in a order for the restaurant's spicy margarita but by time I was done drinking it - this girl still was not here.
"Where the hell is she?" I softly groaned, pulling my phone out of my pocket.
It was clear I was being stood up, which was humiliating given who was sitting beside me.
"Should I text her?" I softly said to myself, looking at Danny's contact information. However, as I was about to start a new conversation, a message came in from her.
(Danny): Hey, are you there? My cousin's waiting for you.
"What?" I uttered, my eyebrows scrunched as I looked around the restaurant again.
I still didn't notice anyone who-...
No way...
My eyes widened as I looked to MK. I watched her toss her phone on the table, and when she impatiently sighed I realized she was waiting for someone as well.
I then looked to her face, her long curly hair rested along her back, and though the texture seemed different from Danny's I saw it as clear as day. They resembled each other.
"MK." I nervously called for her. "Are you waiting for someone by chance?"
"That's none of my business." She answered. "Looks like you got stood up though, so do us both a favor and just leave."
I took a deep breath and leveraged all of my patience to withstand MK's sharp tongue.
"The thing is, I don't think I was stood up and it's likely I'm the one you're looking for too."
"Excuse me?" She asked.
"Are you Kayla?" I continued, her eyes widening. "Are you Danny's cousin?"
"Paul?" She uttered. "You're Paul?"
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose as I leaned back in my chair.
Not only was Danny's cousin the woman that hated me the most in Boston, but I had already broken the promise I made to Min-seok.
"What the hell?" She snapped. "You lied about your name? Who does that?"
"That's fresh coming from the woman who goes by an acronym that doesn't even match the initials of her name. Plus, I never lied about mine. Ho-seok is my birth name and Paul is the name I go by in English speaking countries."
MK chugged the remainder of her margarita before she started pulling out her wallet.
"Again?" I asked. "You're running away again?"
"How many more insults do I have to throw your way before you get it?" She replied, slapping a $20 bill on the table. "I want nothing to do with you. I showed up like my family asked, and fortunately we both wasted plenty of time expecting to meet someone else. Let's make this easy and call it a night."
I watched as MK stood up from her chair and started leaving the bar. However there was no way I could just let her go like this.
I put cash down on the table and followed her out of the restaurant and down the sidewalk before I got a hold of her wrist.
"Stop touching me!" She hissed, yanking her arm from my hold.
"What's your problem?" I asked. "I've done nothing wrong to you! I was even a total gentleman the night we met! I woke up, and you were the one who skipped out on me. Is all this anger you're directing at me really just because you hate The Elite?"
"Wow, I see you finally caught on." She sneered, folding her arms beneath her breasts. "Now that you know, are we done?"
"No, we're not!" I yelled, which was very unlike me. "Shit just got ten times more complicated! You're Danny's cousin and she's family to me! She's engaged to a man that's been a brother to me my entire life! I can't have you going back to her spouting nonsense because you've made assumptions about me that are completely wrong!"
"Are they though?" She asked. "Do you really have no idea who you're hanging out with? Have you heard nothing about the shit your friends have gotten away with?"
"I admit, what happened to Shawn was not great but-..."
"What happened to Shawn is nothing compared to what those bastards are capable of and if you keep that company around you - that tells me all I need to know about you."
"What terrible things have they done beside party a little too hard here and there?"
"Rape." She quickly answered, making my stomach turn. "Murder - Just to name a few."
"Those are very serious allegations." I warned her. "You shouldn't spread rumors like that."
"What makes you think they're rumors?"
"Do you have any evidence?" I asked. "Are any of these cases documented in the system?"
"Of course not. It's nothing money and rich parents can't resolve before it gets to that, right?"
"So you expect me to just believe what you're saying? What you're accusing my friends of?"
"Why would I lie?"
"Because like I've said in the past, you're determined to misunderstand me and I assume it's the same for them." I replied. "Women throw themselves at The Elite everywhere we go and most of the time, it leads to drunk hook ups on both sides. Just because a woman regrets it when she sobers up or after getting ghosted, doesn't make it sexual assault."
"Wow." She breathed. "I can't believe you just said that."
"Am I wrong?" I asked. "Based on how you feel about me after our night together, are you going to accuse me of sexual assault too?"
To my surprise, MK slapped me across my face and when I looked back to her she glared at my through her newly glistening eyes.
"This is my last warning." She responded. "Don't ever show up in front of me again."
"MK-..." I murmured, her lips trembling as she turned around and walked away for me.
I sighed while I pushed my fingers through my hair, and I felt so conflicted.
I knew I went too far and a part of me wanted to chase after her, but I also had so much to think through.
Rape? Murder?
The Elite, specifically Chase and Spencer, were a wild bunch but surely my father wouldn't ask me to befriend a group capable of something like that. I didn't want to believe it. No, I refused to believe it.
I headed to my car, and once I was seated in it I pulled out my phone. I was about to do just as Donnell asked and call him, but I decided to look at their Instagram stories instead.
They appeared to be pre-gaming at Spencer's place, and there were already girls surrounding them with plenty of booze and a hookah that I knew was laced with something on the table.
I started driving in their direction, despite how out of it I was. I just couldn't get the look in MK's eyes out of my head. I was used to seeing the anger in them, but when she slapped me it was different. She was hurt, and for some reason her response was making me question everything.
I weaved around traffic and made a sharp u-turn at the nearest stoplight as I called Johnny.
"Hey!" He answered. "I thought you were supposed to be at some dinner for your friend."
"Are you at the office?" I asked, speeding down the road.
"Yeah, I'm closing out a case. What's up?"
"I'm on my way." I said, ending the call before he could respond.
It couldn't have been more than 20 minutes by time I was walking through AHS Boston HQ, and when I entered Johnny's large corner office he placed a confused smile on his face.
"What in the world is going on?" He questioned as I stepped in front of his desk.
"Have you been honest with me?"
His eyebrows furrowed. "About what?"
"The Elite. Is there anything you know, that I should know?"
"Such as?" He replied, making me even more anxious.
Johnny's always had a tendency to answer questions with questions when he needs to buy himself time to think.
"I witnessed Chase beat the shit out of one of my classmates last weekend." I started. "And now, I'm hearing The Elite is associated with accusations like rape and murder. If there is something you know, you need to tell me right now."
Johnny set his pen down, and I watched him stand up from his desk before he walked over to his wet bar and grabbed two whiskey glasses.
"Want a drink?" He asked.
"I want a direct answer." I replied, and he ignored me as he prepared a glass for me anyway.
Despite how impatient I was feeling, I took a seat on the brown leather sofa in the center of the room and waited for my mentor.
When he was done pouring the two of us whiskey on ice, he set my glass in front of me and took his place on the other sofa across the glass coffee table.
"Spit it out." I pressed, watching Johnny take the first sip of his drink.
"Okay." He replied. "Chase specifically has been accused a handful of times for sexual assault but the accusations have never made it to court."
"Any of these sexual assaults within the category of rape?"
"He's admitted to enjoying a few kinks that some people might consider a bit rough. Every accusation ended with the accuser admitting consensual use of drugs that led to a lapse in judgement. Also no rape kits were submitted by any of the accusers and Chase always had witnesses that vouched the mutual interest shared between him and the accuser."
"Let me guess? The witnesses were members of The Elite each time?"
"Bingo." Johnny confirmed, making me sigh.
"And you're telling me every single accusation ended the same way?" Johnny nodded, and I felt my heart racing now. "What about the others?"
"Spencer just tends to make a lot of dumb mistakes when he's under the influence." Johnny said. "He's been excused from a few DUIs and drunken assaults, but that's about it."
"Okay, so what's this I'm hearing about a murder?" I asked, and Johnny froze.
"It's best you don't dig into this." He advised.
"Are you telling me what I heard is true?"
Johnny took a deep breath before he placed his glass on a coaster. "There is no concrete or sufficient proof the group was involved, and the individual case was wrapped up but deemed connected to a bigger issue the Boston police are actively investigating."
"Please stop beating around the bush, and tell me straight Johnny! Who the hell did you and my father get me involved with?"
"Ho-seok it's best you don't-..."
"Johnny!" I exclaimed. "I'm serious! Just tell me the truth!"
"Alright, alright." He conceded. "But don't go asking around any further about this. Got it?"
"Okay, just tell me."
Johnny rested his elbows on his knees. "Just under a year ago, a female corpse was found along the Charles River. She was identified as a Harvard medical student that was openly dating Antonio Marino at the time."
"Antonio?" I gasped, and he nodded.
"He was also the last one to be seen with her." Johnny continued. "Antonio is a political figure from Italy so unsurprisingly, the case files are sealed from the public but from what I recall she was clubbing with the entire group the night she went missing and several witnesses saw her and Antonio leave the club together after a heated argument."
I fell silent, and I already found myself thinking about MK and her relation to the case.
"What was the victim's name?" I asked.
"I can't remember off the top of my head." Johnny answered. "I recall she had no family, but a persistent roommate who pestered the cops when she went missing and the roommate also reported Antonio as the primary suspect."
My eyes widened. "Was the roommate also a med student?"
"Yeah, I believe so." He answered. "You know what, I think I saved a few articles. AHS Group was interested in taking the case if it got to court."
I watched Johnny walk around his desk as I anxiously tapped my heal on the floor.
"Here it is." He said as he took a seat beside me with a folder in hand.
It was full of printed articles and when he located the one he wanted to share, my lips parted seeing a picture of MK protesting the court by herself.
"Ah, the victim's name was London Michaels." Johnny remembered. "And that's the roommate, Makayla Pearson. She was a hot topic with the press for a while. She stood outside the court, demanding justice for the victim for an entire week. She didn't stop until she collapsed."
I felt that lump form in the back of my throat, and as I set the piece of paper down I had to look away from Johnny.
"You okay?" He asked, his hand meeting my back. "I know this is a lot and it doesn't look the best, but there is no proof any of this is true and that The Elite is involved."
"Bullshit." I responded, glaring at him. "If you didn't think any of this was true, you wouldn't have withheld this information from me all this time! How could you and my father do this? How could you both make me surround myself with a bunch of criminals?"
"I've told you over and over again." Johnny responded. "It's business. No one said you needed to be real friends with them. Just build enough of a relationship for the good of AHS Group."
I scoffed as I stood up and began pacing the room.
"Why the hell are we determined to partner with these people?" I asked. "AHS is better than this! We're a premier law firm!"
"Exactly!" Johnny responded, standing up himself. "We're a law firm Ho-seok, not prosecutors! If someone can pay for our services our job is to win the case at all costs, even if they're guilty! That is part of being a partner in AHS, and you should know that by now! Big business, major connections, and expensive cases come with befriending The Elite!"
"How do you possibly expect me to hang out with that group knowing this information? Have you any idea how much pain this one case alone has caused the victim's loved ones? I don't want to be associated with this shit!"
"Damnit, Ho-seok!" Johnny roared. "It's time for you to grow up! Your parents have sheltered you so much, you don't even realize this is part of being an adult. Doing shit you don't want to do, and making relationships you don't care for because it's simply your damn job!"
"Is that why you've dealt with a spoiled heir like me all this time?" I asked. "Your true colors seem to be coming out right now, and they're not very pretty."
"Ho-seok, you know that's not true." He sighed, stepping closer to me but I didn't want to hear anything else from him right now. "Hyung..."
"I need some space." I uttered.
"Ho-seok." Johnny called for me as I walked out of the room. "Ho-seok, come on!"
I ignored him, and closed the door behind me before I stormed through the building.
Somehow, my head was spinning even more by time I got settled in my car.
"Damnit!" I sighed, pushing my fingers through my hair as MK's tear filled eyes appeared in my head again. "I need to find her. Where do I even start?"
Given how many drinks I witnessed her consume at the Mexican restaurant, I knew MK wasn't working at the hospital tonight, and while I wanted to beg Danny for MK's number I wasn't ready to let her or Min-seok know just how bad things were between MK and I already.
I decided to drive towards the bar where it all started, hoping my observation was correct.
Hidden Hall seemed to be where MK went when she was having a hard time, and seeing the state she was in when we went our separate ways this evening - I knew she didn't want to be alone or sober.
I parked my car along the street again, this time two blocks away from my destination now that the night crowd was out and it was much busier.
I was so eager to get to her, I had an extra pep in my step and was nearly running by time I saw the Hidden Hall door. But just as I was about to reach it, I watched MK stumble outside.
I stopped in my tracks, witnessing her bump into a group of men that were passing by.
As expected, they weren't bothered but they were interested in luring the drunk beauty into their plans for the evening. I thought I was going to have to step in, but MK brushed them off with ease and continued down the sidewalk as I followed a couple of yards behind her.
Recklessly, she was listening to music through her AirPods. Her walk was stable, but she wobbled and stumbled here and there making me close the gap between us a little more.
The further we walked away from U-Street, I realized this was likely her neighborhood.
There was no point in trying to apologize to her while she was this drunk but the very least I could do was make sure she got home safely.
Probably 15 minutes past before MK walked in front of an apartment complex.
I kept a good distance and watched from afar as she reached for the door handle, but she froze out of nowhere.
I noticed her hand was shaking, and she seemed scared to walk inside.
She took a few steps backwards, and my lips parted seeing hers quiver before she decided to take a seat on a bench a few feet away.
"What is this?" She whimpered, bringing her knees to her chests before she wrapped her arms around them. "How can I go inside and sleep when you're still so misunderstood? Why won't anyone believe me, London?"
My heart sank seeing the state my careless words put her in. She was balling, and all I could do was watch. I knew with a personality like hers, being seen this way would embarrass her.
I must have looked over her for half an hour while she was crying, and then I noticed her dosing off. I stepped closer when it became clear she was about to pass out and just before she fell over, I caught the side of her face.
I cupped her cheek as I guided her so she could lay down. She was out cold, despite how sad she looked.
Her eyes were swollen, her eyeliner was smeared, and her cheeks were drenched in her tears.
"It's not fair." MK mumbled in her sleep. "No one believes me."
I sighed, tucking loose strands of her hair behind her ear as I observed her pain up close.
MK was not the only one who severely misread the other. I misunderstood her too. Probably even more than she did me now that I knew the reason for her hatred towards The Elite.
The bond she had with the victim must have been similar to my bond with my brothers back in Korea, and there was once a time I almost lost Min-seok to a tragedy. It was one of the scariest moments of my life yet somehow, it didn't hold a candle to the brutal murder and injustice of MK's loved one.
It all made so much sense now. I fully understood why she blindly hated me and I didn't blame her anymore. I was ashamed, no mortified, to be a part of The Elite.
"She's drunk outside again." A random woman said, and she was walking into the apartment complex with a friend.
"At least she has someone looking over her this time." The other woman said. "Bless her soul. I hope she can move on from her roommate's death soon. It's so sad."
I looked back to MK now that the two of us were alone again, and while I knew this would be an uphill battle for me - it was one I would conquer at all costs.
"I'm sorry." I cooed, stroking MK's hair. "I believe you, and I'll help you get through this."
