Mikasa had never meant to let her friends, her family, almost steal and ruin Christmas completely. She had only wanted them to be happy and find their true inner peace. To find that they had belonged in Halloween Town all along and just needed to be reminded over that by finding where they belonged in the  town.

If she knew that both Armin and Eren would have gotten so caught up with Christmas and learning over the jolly holiday, she'd never have allowed them to explore Christmas two twice. She would have made their accidently first visit to Christmas town their last.

She was merely glad that everything was fixed in time and Hanji Claus was able to save Christmas and not ruin the merry holiday. As well as returning the crown to Halloween's Town best spooky plans to Armin and the best scarier crown to Eren.

Even if Mikasa somehow was still stuck as the Pumpkin Queen. She wasn't thrilled with that end result when she never wanted to the crown. She never felt overly thrilled to learn that she was naturally skilled to scare humans half to death and a few unlucky souls to actual death.

No matter how much she practiced or work hard to improve herself as a scarier, everyone only saw it as natural talent she was born with. That she was born to be the Pumpkin Queen and no one ever actual complimented her for her hard work on Halloween every year.

Well, Armin and Eren tried sometimes and she guess, someone new had been praising her in his own grumpy way.

Mikasa knew she shouldn't be sneaking over to Christmas town after the mess that Halloween Town had caused all those years ago. But Mikasa found herself rather adoring a certain elf.

A tiny and feisty one that would have fitted in perfectly with Halloween Town if he didn't hate how smoky and dirty they all got with their pranks and scares.

Levi was imperfectly perfect to here.

She liked sneaking over to his work shop, sitting and watching as his hands skilfully created a new toy or item that was wished for by those on his list.

Mikasa found herself at peace, hidden from the rest of the town's expectations as she sits in his workshop. Knowing not even Hanji Claus would dare to enter his work shop without clear permission from the elf inside. He knows how to sharpen an candy cane and he's been known to use them on others too.

It's why Mikasa sat on the stool crafted by her favourite elf just for her. Arms crossed over the corner on one of the many work tables within the workshop, chin resting on top of them. Her empty eye sockets focused solely on the handsome and secretly very kind elf working about on his latest asked for object.

She felt comfortable and soothed as she watched him work. He was always so calming and his whole workshop felt peaceful. A safe place to just escape and exist as yourself with no real judgment hovering about.

She liked the softness to his expression as he worked, he was focused but he looked like was creating new life instead of dealing with an troublesome job. He always put his all in everything his makes and his end results are always stunning.

If she was able to breath, she knew he'd leave her breathless almost ever minute she spent with him.

"Stop staring at me like a creep" Levi complained, not looking up from where he was still working on the latest asked object on his list. Feeling her eye sockets staring into his very soul and noticing how much lighter the air in the room had grown to be since she started to stare.

"It's my job to seem creepy" Mikasa pointed out with a sly tone, her smile more sharp teeth than charming.

"Isn't Halloween over with?" Levi shot back with an raised eyebrow, finally lifting his gaze towards where he's always kept her sat. Out of the way but close enough to watch and hold a conversation with.

"Halloween is never over with. We're all preparing for the next Halloween already" Mikasa complained as she sat up, hands picking out lose stems in her suit trousers. Knowing she had plenty of work and practice waiting for her back in Halloween town.

"Skipping work isn't good. You might lose your crown if you keep slacking" Levi scolded with an displeased frown, hating slackers as that meant more work for everyone else who actual did their job.

"You'd just built me a new one" Mikasa teased back, knowing he likes it when she visits in her crown.

"A better fitting one" Levi scoffed back, knowing the one she was given was suited for her personally and knew she deserved a better one.

"Exactly" Mikasa smirks back, smug.

"At least be more useful those those tasteless decorations and make us some tea" Levi sighs as he waves a lazy hand in the direction of his tiny kitchen space that was just a single counter with a kettle and a smaller sink beside it.

But Mikasa slips off her stool, standing at her full intimidating height and easily slithered across the room to the kettle. Flicking it on with an boney finger and snatching up two mugs. Their mugs, she'd stolen them from the human world just for the two of them. And when she had returned the next time after gifting them to him, she found that he hadn't thrown them away as expected. They sat on his shelf, sat as theirs, his and hers.

Using the mugs always left her with a fluttering feeling in her stomach, knowing that her feelings for him wasn't as one-sided as her nightmares try to make her believe. He cared, cared deeply for her just as she did him.

The thought of him and her being a them.

To go from two to one as they stand together.

To have two halves form as one finally.

It left her smiling warmly as she sipped at her hot chocolate, listening to him complain and rant over how useless and idiotic all the other elves around were. His mug held in his smaller hands and his silver eyes shined dangerous as he grew darker while speaking over the useless elves he'd happily give her to use as props for next Halloween.

She was smitten for him.

He was the king of the elves while she was the pumpkin queen and she knew they had fit as imperfectly perfect as they could.

Knew that he brought her the safety in the shadows, why she had brought the colours to his Christmas.

They both formed to be their own little nightmare before Christmas every time they were together and both secretly loved it.
