29: The Proposal
Ratchet was leading Achelois somewhere, and she had no idea where. She had a blindfold on, and so she couldn't see anything, but she trusted Ratchet to lead her safely. Soon, they were stopped and he let go of her hand. She stayed still waiting for him to speak. She had no idea what was going on.
"You can take the blind fold off now", Ratchet murmurs. Achelois took the blindfold off, only to drop in surprise, her other hand coming up to cover her open mouth as tears fell from her eyes. Ratchet was on one knee in front of her with a small black box opened. There was a beautiful ring in the box. It was a silver band with a small silver light blue crystal on it. Ratchet smiled softly.
"Faria Weaver, Achelois Sullivan, you have been in my life for a long time. Although we are not the same species, although we are alien to each other, I feel as if I have known you for years and that there has been no separation between us. We have been through trials, and mishaps, but we have pulled through. I love you so much, and now I only have one question for you. Will you be my sparkmate?"
Achelois stumbled forward, and threw her arms around his neck. "YES!" she cried out, happy tears streaming out of her eyes. They were hugging for several minutes before Ratchet pulled back to put the ring on her. She gazed at it, shocked that this had actually happened.
"I'm not dreaming, am I?" she murmured, enthralled by the ring. Ratchet chuckled and leaned in to kiss her.
"No, you're not", he says before giving her a gentle kiss. Achelois smiled happily, before wondering what the ring is made of.
"What is the ring made of?" she asked.
Ratchet smiled at her. "The band is made of cybertronian alloy, and the crystal is from my spark." Achelois' eyes widened at that and she looked at him alarmed.
"Wait, you mean? You took a piece of your spark and gave it to me? Won't that hurt you?"
Ratchet chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "No. It was a small enough piece that it will not harm me. And due to it being a cybertronian alloy that is the band, the energon from it will not harm you."
"That's incredible", Achelois whispered before a thought popped into her head. "Ratchet, we will still have a wedding ceremony, right? Because otherwise, for the rest of the world, it will be like we were never married. I know that Cybertronians do things differently than humans, but I would still like to keep that one tradition."
Ratceht smiled. "Of course we will have a wedding ceremony. Dahlia told me that you would want one."
Achelois smiled softly, before the thought of telling her best friend crossed her mind. She gasped in excitement. "I gotta tell Dahlia. Especially since no matter what, she's going to be my maid of honor!"
Ratchet chuckled before leading her back to the ambulance parked not too far away. They made their way back to the military base where people were working and being trained for the work they had to put into the facility. As soon as Ratchet had stopped, Achelois was out of the car and running to where Dahlia was.
"DAHLIA!!!" she screamed, her hair flying every where as she ran. She ran up the stairs and quickly stopped in front of Dahlia. Dahlia looked at her with tired red eyes, and Achelois knew she had cried herself to sleep again. She sighed, but continued on with her news. "Ratchet proposed to me!"
Dahlia's face immediately lightens up and she immediately grabbed Achelois' left hand to look at the ring. She smiled at the ring. "It's beautiful, Ratch. How long did it take you to make this?"
"Several hours", Ratchet grunted. "Getting the alloy to work with me, and then the crystal didn't want to do what I told it to do, even though it's part of my own spark..."
Achelois laughed happily before walking over to Ratchet who stood at the computers. He smiled down at her and was about to say something but an alarm went off, signalling a new message. Ratchet looked at the message and read it quickly before his eyes widened. He looked at Achelois apologetically.
"Bee has called upon me... there's been an injury and they need help. I'm sorry for leaving you so soon, Achelois."
Achelois smiled, though her eyes were sad. "It's okay, Ratch. They need your help. Go help them."
Ratchet nodded, before opening a space bridge to Cybertron. He paused before leaving. He looked at Achelois and with a smile, he said "I will return in a few days via the space bridge they have there so you don't need to worry about knowing how to operate it."
Achelois nodded and watched as the ground bridge closed. She smiled sadly, but chose to focus on figuring stuff out for the wedding for the next few days.
More than a few days passed, and Achelois was growing increasingly worried. 'He said he was going to come back... so where he is...?' After two weeks had passed with little no sleep, she finally came to a realization.
Ratchet wasn't coming back.
