20: Not The Only Injured One Here
Faria groaned as she shifted in her bed. "I'm so booored", she said to no one in particular. Not that there was anyone to talk to. Well, there was Dahlia, Raf and Agent Fowler but they were busy on the com-link with some of the other bots who were busy finding relics. The bots had managed to get four coordinates to some relics from their planet, and they were racing to find them before the 'cons. Faria honestly couldn't care less. A few moments later, however, she heard the ground bridge open, and Ratchet came through. Faria turned her head away sadly. In the two weeks that she had been here, Ratchet had avoided talking to her, or even going near her except to check how her wound was doing.
Faria heard Raf and Ratchet talking excitedly, until Fowler interrupted them, saying that Bulkhead needed a ground bridge. Ratchet opened one, and was grinning happily. Faria sighed sadly. 'Yep... he doesn't care about me... not even as his charge... Not that I'm his charge anymore, I barely go anywhere anymore... At least I'm still able to focus on my schoolwork, thanks to them emailing lessons and assignments to me. My schoolwork is a welcome distraction.'
Faria jumped when a loud crash filled the base, and she stared at the ground bridge, which had closed automatically. She couldn't see what was happening but judging by the shocked and scared expressions on Ratchet's face, and the other humans, it was bad. Faria didn't bother straining to see, she wanted to heal as fast as possible. Turning her head to her phone, she pulled up her assignments only to pause when she heard Ratchet yelling at Bulkhead.
"Bulkhead, please respond!" Faria noticed the ground bridge was open, and then heard Miko's voice.
"Bulkhead?" Her voice was quiet and scared, something Faria hadn't really heard from Miko before. Faria's stomach dropped with dread, knowing that Bulkhead was most likely in danger of dying if Ratchet was extremely worried. "What happened?" That was Miko again. Faria could tell by the sound of her voice, she was about to cry.
"Tox-en exposure", Ratchet said, his voice filled with concern. "Among other things. Bulkhead has experienced a complete systems failure." Faria couldn't see what was happening and was starting to panic. Apparently Dahlia could tell that Faria was getting extremely worried, because she appeared next to Faria.
"Hey, Faria, it's okay", she said quietly, though she cast a worried glance in the direction of the ground bridge.
"What's happening?"
"Bulkhead got shot, but he'll be fine. He's got the best doctor to take care of him, just like you do."
Faria huffed. "Yeah, he's doing a great job of taking care of me, isn't he?" Her voice was very sarcastic, causing Dahlia to sigh softly.
"Faria, I know you love him, but you can't let that drag you down just because he said-"
"Don't you dare", Faria growled lowly as she stared at the sheets. A tear appeared in her eye, and she quickly wiped it away. Dahlia's eyes widened, and she realized what she had just said.
"Faria, I'm sorry", Dahlia said softly, staring at her friend with worry.
"It's fine", Faria said tartly. "Now, I'd like to be left alone now."
"Faria", Dahlia murmured sadly.
"Leave me alone, Dahlia", Faria growled. Dahlia listened and left silently. Faria closed the curtain by pressing the button and stared up at the ceiling of the small area she had been given. She had become very familiar with the ceiling and could tell someone about it without looking at it. Sighing, she closed her eyes, and started to cry softly, thinking about everything that had happened.
First, there was the confession and the rejection. Then, her parents kidnapped her, but then Agent Fowler rescued her. Wait... How did he find her? No one knew her real name except for... Dahlia, Ratchet, and her parents... How did they know she was kidnapped...? Frowning, she shifted slightly, wincing in pain a bit as her skin around the wound stretched a little bit. She stopped moving, and grabbed her phone from where it sat next to her.
She started texting Dahlia. 'Dahlia, I just had a thought and now I've got some questions. Think you could answer them?'
Dahlia didn't reply but soon appeared by the curtain, holding it slightly out of the way. She walked in, and sat in a chair next to Faria's bed.
"What are your questions?" Dahlia asked.
"How did Agent Fowler find me? I changed my name for a reason, and there were only a few people who knew my real name."
Dahlia smiled softly. "Ratchet told him your real name."
Faria frowned in confusion. "How did you guys know I was kidnapped?"
"Ratchet saw your parents kidnap you and tried to find you by himself for a month. He was unable to, and had to ask Agent Fowler for help."
"But..." Faria paused, now very confused. "Why would he help me...? He obviously doesn't care for me..."
Dahlia smiled sadly. "Oh, Faria... He cares for you very much... He's just scared that he will hurt you again, and that's why he's been keeping his distance."
Faria scoffed. "Yeah right."
Dahlia sighed. "Get some rest, Faria. It will help you get better."
Faria also sighed. "Fine." She closed her eyes, and pretended to sleep. Soon, however, she actually started to fall asleep, and her mind drifted off. However, before she was completely out, she heard Dahlia whisper to herself.
"Oh, Ratchet, why can't you just tell her. It will be good for the both of you..."
And with that, Faria was out like a lamp.
