Chapter X: Downtime
Amber and (Y/N) entered a room, where Lilith was serving the young Summer Maiden some food. The little girl stared blankly at the two as she ate her sandwich. Lilith brushed her hair aside and stared intently at Amber. The blonde haired-green eyed girl returned it with one of contempt.
(Y/N): "Lilith, please don't antagonize Zarrick. We've come to a deal, she will help the Summer Maiden with her memory and serve us for now."
Amber: "My semblance will help her to clearly recount memories, which ones will you want me to show her?"
(Y/N): "I want her amnesia cured by the time I come back."
Amber scoffed a little.
Amber: "That will take about two hours. I'll need breaks. Be glad she's still young, if she was middle aged it would take about five days."
Lilith: "Just do your job like (Y/N) tells you."
She ordered. Amber slowly shook her head in disappointment at Lilith.
Amber: "Because that's what you always do, isn't it?"
Lilith's piercing lilac eyes burned with a fury. Countered only by Amber's cool, calculated one. Y/N) placed his hand on Lilith's shoulders, shaking his head and kissing her on the cheek.
(Y/N): "She's not worth it."
He assured her. Lilith turned to leave, before shooting one last glance towards Amber.
Amber: "Such condescending words, I was tempted to just stop right here and now."
(Y/N): "I'll repeat to you what I said to her. Don't anger Lilith, a girl named Yang angered her and she lost her arm."
(Y/N) warned.
Amber: "Good, I know where she attacks."
(Y/N) chuckled. Before turning to leave the room in order to allow Amber to do her work with her semblance.
The cat Faunus took off her gloves, patting the little girl as she brought her palm to her temple.
Amber: "Now then, who are you?..."
- Meanwhile -
(Y/N) stood atop the highest tower of Palace Monolith. His newest construction, built entirely by his Grimm army. There he could see the vast lakes of liquidized Grimm substance, where his unending legions emerged in order to prepare for battle. Thousands were exiting the accursed land he had built his palace in, some even took with then buckets from the lakes in order to establish spawning grounds in the lands of the kingdoms they conquered.
All that was his indulged him and further fuelled him. It was a curious story, (Y/N) had. He started off as a mere creation of Salem herself. He was built up to be intelligent, determined and power hungry. Salem ensured her own downfall with his creation, her arrogance led to his usurping. Now he stood poised to conquer the entirety of Remnant under one name, his and his only.
His once human features had now been replaced with ugly Grimm looking traits. He looked sickly, but was healthy. in the end he didn't mind the transformation much, he never even knew it was happening until he noticed his veins blackening.
His other eye had morphed red and his skin became as light as the moon broken moon overhead. (Y/N) was never human, he was never a proper living being in the first place. He thought it ironic that the land of the living would be owned by one that never lived.
Sometimes, he would think back to his time at Beacon Academy. (Y/N) felt like things back then were quite difficult compared to now, he never felt the sense of danger. Being surrounded by enemies and pulling through with his mission granted him a feeling of superiority.
Though he had to acknowledge that most if not all of his feats had been accomplished with vital help. Help from others he had coerced or had willingly joined his mad cause. One thing he told Amber was true, he wouldn't be where he is now without her help.
Help he could never find in his limitless ego enough to thank her for.
- Timeskip -
Deep within the hallways of the palace, Lilith was making her way to the bedrooms deep within her mind she was contemplating the reason she joined up with (Y/N). Mainly for the thrill and exhilaration. Until she caught sight of Killian making his way over to the dining area. She closely followed behind. Catching his attention as he was about to enter the room.
Killian: "Lady Lilith. Good evening."
Lilith: "Lieutenant."
She replied politely.
Killian: "I was just about to grab a drink."
Lilith: "Well, I guess I'll have one as well now that I'm here."
The both of them headed up to the bar, Lilith went behind the counter to grab some bottles.
Lilith: "How's the family?"
She jokingly asked. The turncoat officer didn't really take the joke very well. Considering that his family is still being held hostage against him by (Y/N).
Killian: "That's not funny, Heathers."
He responded.
Lilith: "Oh come on, learn to take a joke."
She mocked slightly as Killian scoffed at her and drank his shot. Placing his glass upside down, he turned to leave.
Lilith left her drink to dry as she went after him.
Lilith: "Don't you ever dare disrespect me, I'm second only to him."
Killian: "Well then maybe I should make fun of your parents, they should be proud that their pretty little girl is in cahoots with the greatest evil to Remnant ever known."
Lilith was taken aback for a moment.
Lilith: "I can tolerate your disrespect towards me, but if I ever report this to (Y/N). He won't just have your head on a stick, but your family's as well."
Killian: "You're crazy."
Killian wouldn't have shown it, but he was scared of Lilith. Her lack of empathy and disregard for basic dignity made her the perfect puppet to be played with by (Y/N). At this very moment she was just an extension of him. Lilith saw through him, however.
Lilith: "Look who's scared, your life is in my hands. It's up to me whether I want to crush it or not..."
She giggled, going on her tippy toes to kiss the taller Atlesian officer on the cheek. He recoiled at this sudden gesture, wiping at his face.
Lilith: "But toying around with you just seems more fun, for now."
She mocked. Turning her back to him as she strutted out of the dining room, alike to a proud peacock. Leaving Killian to gawk and silently curse at her.
