Chapter V: Heart of a Lion, Heart of a Coward
(Y/N): "The cowardly lion hides in his den to let others protect his hide."
He chuckled to himself, his dragon-like mount roared in anger as it flew him around the ruined city of Mistral. For now (Y/N) had ordered his Grimm forces to hold back, in order to establish a peace deal with General Lionheart and knock the Kingdom of Mistral out of the war.
Arriving at Haven Academy. His mount landed among bandaged and wounded victims of war. Haven had been converted into a hospital and a military headquarters, for now it remained untouched by the conflict. The healing and maimed were all repulsed in fear of the Grimm that had just landed a few meters from them. But moreso, that their mortal enemy was in their midst. (Y/N) dismounted his dragon and patted a certain spot on it's neck behind it's head.
Just behind (Y/N), was a restrained Raven. Held back by Octavian and Lilith, both of whom had arrived with another mount.
Lilith: "It doesn't matter if you fear him or not, he'll eat you all the same. What matters is what I command him."
She informed the patients of Haven. As the trio made their way deeper into the hallways of Haven, they ran into six Atlesian soldiers. Advisors for Mistralian militia training. Led by a huntsman.
Huntsman: "Your ceasefire has only brought you to your doom!"
(Y/N): "Is that so?"
(Y/N) brought out Gambler, a deadly weapon forged by him. The cross-guard was decorated with a Spade, the entire sword was ebony black save for the sharp edges of the blade. As if like magic, Gambler's blade became engulfed in flame.
(Y/N): "Think about the futility of your actions, do you really think I'm intimidated by the sight of seven dead men standing in front of me."
Huntsman: "You will never get to the Headmaster! I will make sure of it."
(Y//N) completely ignored the heroic lamentations of the huntsman. Choosing to target the weaker willed.
(Y/N): "Esteemed members of the Atlesian military, go home... Embrace your families that were taken from you by Steelheart. I will allow you to live and reunite with your loved ones. Or would you rather... become nothing? Unable to even be mourned, to become a small insignificant part of a number in some book."
Some of the soldiers began to display doubt. (Y/N) waited for some to come to a decision.
The huntsman immediately charged towards (Y/N). Swinging his energized dagger at him. (Y/N) simply stopped the dagger with his own hand, gritting his teeth as his palm was impaled. In reply, he stabbed his sword into the stomach of his assailant. Immediately piercing his aura, the huntsman died almost instantly. His body went up in flames, eventually he burned to ashes and was blown away by a small kick of (Y/N)'s shoe.
(Y/N): "Would any of you like to assist me in further testing my weapon?"
The six Atlesian soldiers looked at each other, before one by one they began to leave. Giving up on all semblance of hope.
In barged (Y/N) and his henchmen to see the snivelling coward Leonardo Lionheart. Sitting in his chair, looking at video feed of a destroyed Mistral. Hundreds of years of advancement and history, gone in a few months. Either in flames or down in rubble. Nevertheless gone forever.
(Y/N): "Look at this brave man, willing to watch others do the fighting for him."
Lionheart: "You are the Prince of Grimm. Right?"
Asked the headmaster.
(Y/N): "Indeed."
He pulled up a chair and sat down at Leonardo's desk. Facing him eye-to-eye, Lilith and Orion stood by with Raven in tow.
Lionheart: "I don't want the people of Mistral to suffer this horrible war any longer..."
(Y/N): "So you do agree to peace on my terms, is that correct?"
Lionheart: "Yes, yes I do."
(Y/N): "Well then, my terms are as follows. You will not allow any Atlesian military units to enter Mistral's territory, you will instruct all citizens of Mistral to destroy all traces of dust and finally you will requisition the Relic of Knowledge to me. If you follow all those terms, I will allow the people of this Kingdom to live. Is that a deal?"
Lionheart: "Of course, Prince of Grimm."
(Y/N): "Now, not to waste any time. Where is the Vault of the Spring Maiden?
Without wasting a breath, Leonardo Lionheart led (Y/N), Lilith, Orion and Raven to a statue of an elegant woman. A hidden elevator to the underground vault. With a gun to her head held by Orion, Raven opened the vault. Lilith retrieved the relic, and just like that the deal was complete.
Lionheart knew the name that needed to be said, also giving that up to (Y/N) without a major fuss. He also disclosed that Ozpin had asked Jinn a question a long time ago, that two more questions were left for the relic.
(Y/N) and Lilith went further from the group, in case anyone tries to waste Jinn's questions forcefully. Lionheart looked defeated even without a fight, (Y/N) was disgusted by him. A sworn protector driven to abandoning morality for self-preservation. While he was a useful asset, it was as if using him meant that you would lose integrity and never get it back.
(Y/N) cleared his throat, before uttering the name.
(Y/N): "Jinn."
Time began to slow down around (Y/N) and Lilith, before a ghost-like figure emerged from the lamp. A woman the colour of teal, with golden chains and trinkets attached to her body.
Jinn: "It's been a while since I've heard my name come out of someone's lips. It feels good to finally get out of that lamp, even if it is once in a while... And who might you two be?"
(Y/N) kept his head bowed in order to feign respect and hide his red eyes. She might become suspicious.
(Y/N): "I wonder if she knows about Salem's death? Asking her would cost a question and Lionheart told me there were two left, so there's no way I'm going to inquire on it... Perhaps... there could be a way. It's risky and might cost me the game, but it's worth a try... You probably don't recognize me, it's Ozpin... again."
Jinn sighed, before responding.
Jinn: "It's rude to lie. (Y/N) (L/N). You may be able to deceive others, but the relic's power grants me knowledge of anything and everything."
She said, But (Y/N) showed no fear despite being caught in a lie.
(Y/N): "Hmm, that's unfortunate. But I also have knowledge, I know that the relic's power also bounds you by the rules given to you. Thus any question I ask is to be answered truthfully and without any sort delay. Now let's get onto the topic of choice. Where is the current Summer Maiden located?"
Jinn looked mellow and defeated all of a sudden, before she brought forth an image of a young girl held in a secretive Atlesian stronghold somewhere near the eastern coast of Solitas. The continent which contained Atlas and Mantle. (Y/N) committed the location to memory and smiled a little to himself, chuckling at Jinn's powerlessness.
(Y/N): "Thank you for your help. I have no further use of you."
Jinn pouted as she returned back into her lamp, Lilith walked over to pick it up as Orion approached with a captured Raven still with him.
Orion: "Did you get it?"
(Y/N) nodded at his servant. Before he turned to leave immediately.
(Y/N): "We head for Atlas next, Lionheart!"
The headmaster of Haven looked towards him.
(Y/N): "You made the right choice... I expect the New State of Mistral to comply with my new regulations."
From then on, Mistral had become an unwilling puppet state of the Black Horde. Servitude bound by an unholy pact of betrayal.
