Chapter VIII: The Deal That Changed Everything

-Salem's POV-

Tenebris: It's over my Mistress.

Me: He's finally out of the game.

Tenebris: Utterly in humiliation, is what I'd say. But otherwise, yes he's down for the count.

I nod, Tenebris is extremely reliable in getting things done. Unlike Y/N... Never a damn thing done properly.

Me: Excellent Tenebris. Now, continue your campaign against the humans... I'll bring in The Backup Plan.

Tenebris: Understood Your Grace.

She said, before morphing into her Beowolf form and running out the door.

I exhale as I snap my fingers, a hidden door next to me opened with the sound of footsteps exiting the hidden training room, I calmly turned my head until I was locking eyes directly with Y/N's long awaiting replacement.

Me: Are you finally ready my child?...

Jaune: Of course Mistress. I've been ready ever since you recruited me a few weeks ago, I'm ready to follow your orders to the letter.

Young Jaune assured me, he's been an interest of mine for a long time. Being since I saw him defeated at the hands of Y/N, I thought he could make a good counter, in case he decided to go against me in the future.

Salem: Good, but before your Relics assignment. I have an objective that is top priority.

Jaune looked confused, he opened his mouth to speak.

Jaune: More important than the Relics of the academies?

I nod slowly.

Salem: If he gets out of jail, I want you standing by to have him eliminated. Not captured or stunned, I want him dead.

Jaune: Yes, my mistress.

He said. his Grimm-replacement limbs standing at full attention. His red eyes flashing in anger.

Clearly the memory wipe worked on him, making him think he's someone who had been mutilated in a terrorist attack by the Ace of Spades. A sharp tool to use at the perfect time.

-Ace's POV-

Chief: We know you aren't gonna talk. But we have to know. How the actual fuck did you survive?

I raised my head at him. Finally speaking after a half hour of absolute silence.

Me: You can't kill evil. Evil is trait in the human mind. A trait we all have... like you Sarge.

The older man scoffed, now pulling up the chair and sitting on it.

Chief: Son, liste-

I interrupted.

Me: Do not call me son, you are not my father.

Chief: Alright. Ace of Spades. You're not going anywhere. Your trial is awai-

Me: Blah blah blah legal stuff. Chief, I've already heard all of these proceedings at least 7 times over. It's enough for me to memorize them, save yourself breath and leave me the fuck alone. You're not gonna get anything out of me, I'd like to see you try but It'll waste my precious time.

The Chief grumbled, getting up off his chair and making his way towards the door. Halfway turning around.

Chief: Expect at least 47 Life sentences, you fucking bastard.

Me: Real colourful language bud. Your mum would be proud of the mouth of yours.

He had already left the room by then. As I just sighed, I sat there awaiting my cell transfer.

24 Hours Later.
Amber's POV

The police precinct wasn't as guarded on weekends as it was on weekdays. I knew this, with Salem cutting her ties to me. There was no way to salvage my original plan to destroy the White Fang. Damn her, but it was just then I suddenly heard from the News that she for once finally decided to take matters into her own hands.

An opportunity presented itself to me, so I came up with a new, but extremely risky backup plan. Break out the Ace of Spades without getting killed, convince him to work with me and my team again without getting killed, and lastly defeat Salem and her lapdog, without getting killed.

Asher: So it's literally just about not getting killed in the process of the plan?

Elle: Yes Asher, I'm pretty sure you've already asked that question about 3 times.

Asher: Well too bad Caine isn't joining us. Can't believe he stayed behind to look at his po-

Me: Everyone focus, this is our only chance to put the new plan into action. I can't risk a failure for this... Now, here's a recap of what's going to happen; Elle, use your wings to fly up to the top of the building and disable the lighting system and cut the power, there's a blindspot at the southeastern end of the building that you can use. Asher; you throw in the smoke grenade containing sleeping gas, I'll use this gas mask in order to find Spade, then we all rendezvous back to the car. Understood?

Asher: Of course sis.

Elle: I can do that.

The both assured me, they then got out of the car, both doors slamming shut simultaneously,

Asher busted security cameras using his Mace, and we both stood by the door as he counted to three, throwing the smoke grenade within the building.

???: GRENADE!

The smoke began to emit from the grenade as it encompassed the entire police office. We heard people yelling as they all eventually collapsed onto the ground, knocked out cold.

Asher: You're good to go now Amber.

My brother called, I nodded quickly whilst slipping my gas mask on. Running past the unconscious officers laying on the floor.

Y/N's POV

This holding cell sucks, contained and sealed off from all the prison. There's almost no way to escape this without my semblance, if there is it's going to be extremely time consuming...

???: Hey baby, you lookin' good.

???: Come 'er darlin' I promise I won't bite.

Hold-ins are probably catcalling a female officer right now. Worthless trash...

The hydraulic door to my cell then clicked, it's then red light flashing green, pulling aside to reveal a female figure standing there. I quickly recognized her, beginning to smirk.

Me: Well, what do you know? Amber, Zarrick...

I chuckled, recognizing her even behind her Gas Mask. She pulled it off, revealing her emerald eyes and her little cat ears.

Amber: Hello again Y/N.

She smirked waving almost mockingly. I too chuckled as I gave a little wave back.

Me: I didn't expect to see you as my one visit. Voluntarily to be exact

Amber: I assume Salem's little pet told you the reason she lost her cool with my... setback.

Me: Yes, Tenebris did. In fact, she's the reason I'm in here...

I reply, hate in my tone. Amber walked into my cell, seemingly not afraid of me or perhaps she just ignores the fact that I'm the man that brought down Beacon.

Amber: Listen up. I'm going to skip the formalities. I'm here to help get you out, as much as this may seem confu-

Me: Actually it doesn't really seem confusing to me now that I think about it. I suspected that you volunteered to work for Salem. You weren't able to catch me in the last few weeks. She lost her patience and sent Albino to kick my ass out of action... I have no doubt that there's a reason for you working for Salem... And now you're teaming up with me to get it, aren't you?

I asked, smiling as I tilted my head. Amber was initially taken aback, but quickly cemented herself back in place.

Amber: Um, yes. It's correct... We both make an alliance, against Salem. The two of us, could possibly place in our cards and make a plan to surprise and destroy Salem with our joint effort.

Me: Hmm, I like this idea... Nevertheless it does has it's risks. Yes... I see. I may actually accept if...

Amber had a little hint of a smile on her face. Holding out her hand, a simple action of a deal. I stood up, walking towards her with my hand out.

Me: Very well then Zarrick. You may have been my enemy, but I'll accept this pact.

Once our hands touched, something extremely weird started happening. Amber gasped as I begun feeling drowsy, I seemingly slipped from reality.

I begun seeing memories of my childhood... But, wrong... in a certain sense. Points felt much more, how should I say this?... Spectral.

My childhood memories, all of them. From my various huntsman training sessions with Blau, the village destroyed... Blau's death, my father's death. Fire... Screams and Chaos.

It was just then that the memories began feeling a bit more normal. My first attack ever, Junior's Bar, Beacon Academy... It all seemed much more than what my supposed 'childhood memories' were.

I then felt like I fell out of the trance. I awoke in the same room I was in when me and Amber made out deal, she just stood a few feet away. Awestruck.

Me: W-what? What the Monty was that?

I asked, much more emotional than what I usually sound.

Amber: That... was my semblance...

Me: Your semblance?

The cat Faunus nodded, brushing some of her hair to the side.

Amber: I have the ability to see other people's memories, either myself or with them as sort of a passenger. B-but yours...

She stuttered. Trying to find the right words to use.

Me: What?! AMBER WHAT!?

I asked, almost yelling now.

Amber: Some of those... they felt... Fake... Made up. A-as if you never even experienced them, they're just... there.
