Chapter 12

So here is the next chapter. Read and tell me how is it. I am looking forward for your reviews. Vote and comments too.

When Arjun opened his eyes in the morning and tried to get up he felt someone sleeping on him. He wondered if there is any sight more beautiful than her. Laying upon him covered with soft feature mattress, cocooning herself by his muscular built, she slept least bothered about the outside world. She described every bit of word beautiful. She wasn't a page 3 model but still her beauty was beyond comparison. There was an alluring shyness to her, hesitation in her body movements and a softness in her voice which could make any man desire her.

Somewhere deep in his heart, he had the desire to have her coursing in his blood. But not strong enough to make him forget his three years relationship with Aisha and moreover Radhika was his friend and she trusted him.

He whispered,"Is this all happening with me because I was a playboy and old habits don't die easily?! But then why it irks me to see you with a man which is not me?! You are too innocent for the world, for me.  I will just give you tears and pain nothing else." He paused and continued, his voice laced with sincerity,"But today I promise you I will protect you from me, from my past and from the world. Not because my mom wants me to but because I want to. Even if this year ends and you will no longer be my wife still I will be one call away for you always."

He touched her cheek tenderly in a touch full of care,  affection and warmth of his devotion towards his friend. She stirred a bit and he swiftly took back his hand.

He got up to freshen up for the day.

Veer was sitting in front of his mother with his fingers crossed and eyes full of tension and anxiety. He had told his mom that he had found Radhika but now she was married but soon to be a divorcee.

She asked,"So you still couldn't get over her?!"

He shook his head, "I have always loved her and you know I have loved her since the day I saw her lending her umbrella to a old man and dancing in rain. She is my first and last love."

She queried,"And what about Radhika?! Does she feel the same thing about you?!"

He sadly signed, "No she does not."

His mom countered,"Veer you are my only son and you know how much I love you.  I don't want you to get hurt. Girls like Radhika they only love once in their whole lifetime. If she gives away her heart to someone then there is no hope for you. You told me this marriage happened against her will But you think rationally only 8 hours a day she spends with you  rest of her time goes to her husband. She could get attached to him and they say you don't understand when such a person becomes your habit and need. I would say don't pursue her because I think you both are not meant to be. She might fall for him and stay back with him."

He grits his teeth, "Arjun has a girlfriend and Radhika would never wish to be a bone between them."

His mom debated,"What if Arjun falls for Radhika?!"

She continued,"I mean her beauty could even make the beast fall for her then who is this Arjun?!"

Veer angrily answered,"That's the difference I don't love Radhika because of peerless beauty. I love her for her selfless,  innocent,  kind heart. He can never love her the way I did for all this years."

His mom stated,"Veer, I agree you have only loved her since the day you met her. You didn't had any girlfriends or flings but you have to accept the truth that maybe Radhika is a only a beautiful dream in your life which you are incapable of achieving."

She pulled the newspaper from a rack of the table beside her and gave him.

She pointed out to something which gave Veer an enormous pain which was clearly evident in his eyes.

It was a picture of Arjun and Radhika taken outside the airport.

His mom stared down at the picture and said, "Her expression gives away how much she trust that guy. Radhika may not love Arjun but she feels safe, protected around him. Look at the way she has hidden herself in his arms not letting even an inch gap to remain between them. She trust him with all her heart. And the man who wins her trust is likely to win her heart."

Veer swiftly jolted up from his seat and scoffed, "Even if Radhika likes Arjun that doesn't change the fact that he doesn't deserve her. You know five years back how the newspapers use to be filled with the gossips of him and his tons of mistresses. It's just because of the massive success he has achieved in his career,  I respect him. Arjun can't stick to one woman and almost everyone who knows him can guarantee this. I don't want Radhika to get hurt. Even if she breaks my heart someday, I'll protect hers."

His mom snarled, "Who the hell are you to interfere between them?! Don't forget he is her husband and you should stay out of their relationship."

He fumed, "They have no relationship whatsoever."

He continued,"I thought you adored Radhika but I see your feelings for her have changed now. You don't care for her anymore."

His mom defended,"I care for you more. You are my only son and I don't want you to get hurt."

"You think,  I will not be hurt if something bad happens to Radhika?! I don't bluff when I say she is only woman I loved and will always love. I worship the ground she walks on." His breath came out in fast and furious pants as he said his feelings in one breath.

"Then go confess your feelings before its too late. Who knows she might give you a chance."His mom encouraged.

He shook his head, "No it's too soon. She is not ready yet."

"You know what, Son when a person is not ready to help himself then nobody could help him. She is going to slip out from your hand and I see that happening very soon. If Arjun stakes his claim on her before you then there is no hope. You can't compete with him." Her gaze fixed on the picture.

"I can't believe you are my mom. I mean common which kind of a sick mother talks things which would only wound her son's heart."He sadonically said.

His mom said in a hard tone,"I am only telling you the truth. You can't blindfold yourself and deny the reality for long. I have been there once only to have my heart broken into pieces which I don't want to happen in your case."

He apologized,"I am sorry, mom. I wasn't thinking while talking."

Arjun came out dressed in white shirt and track pants. Since it was Sunday, he had one full day to relax himself. He stood in the balcony relishing the cool breeze fanning his face. He wondered,  where was Radhika?!  She wasn't in the room when he came back after taking bath.

Sky was greyish today and He could guess it was time for the first rain. He hated rain because that reminded him of that heart breaking memory he just wished could wipe off from his mind. There was no escape from his haunting past but he didn't wanted his family to pay for the dreadful sin he had committed and couldn't forgive himself for the same.  He didn't wanted even one drop of rain to fall on him so he decided to go back and prepare himself a drink. But something caught his eye,  Radhika was happily dancing and jumping in the silver puddles of muddy water.  She loved rain, She always had and always will. The chaotic, wild drops fall down her face soaking her eyelashes then trailing down her soft chubby cheeks before they join their brethren on the ground like saltless tears.

She squealed, giggled, cried tears of joy and wonder and enjoyed herself to the fullest.

Arjun furiously bolted downstairs. He paced outside the house but took a step back when he realized he was actually going out in rain. The same rain which had snatched his most precious relation from him.

He stood there with his one hand  rested on a pillar and other shoved in pocket.

He screamed,"Radhika."

She turned and smiled, "Oh it's you. Why are you standing so far?! Come here no?!" She innocently invited him unaware of the raging fury inside him.

He  grits his teeth and says, "Come inside the house and now."

She shook her head stubbornly not ready to budge, "No I am good here."

He repeated in a stern voice, "Come inside Radhika or else...." His hands balled into fist and menacing threat brimming in those sinister dark orbs.

She cuts him off, "Or else what Arjun?! You don't scare me and I know you can't hurt me so don't give me this angry young man look."

He laughed evil, "How little you know me. Are you coming on your own?!"

She didn't reply but instead poked her tongue out at him.

He wouldn't mind dragging her by her hair to take her away from the rain. Today she was testing the waters she never had swim in. He was a control freak and she knew that but then why she was not giving in?! If she wasn't going to obey when he asked her nicely then he knew many other ways which would be fun for him but would hurt her at the same time. He didn't care all he cared about was dragging her inside the house where rain couldn't touch her.

He marched over to her in a speed of a lightening. Every rain drop that fell over him made him feel nothing but disgusted. He had never got caught in rain since that dreadful day when his world turned upside down and he changed forever. He gripped her elbow and turned her towards him. His eyes darkened with anger and lips pressed in hard line. Fury emanating from every pore of his body.

That day's events replayed in his mind making him feel like banging his head somewhere and cutting his heart out of his chest to reduce the pain he was feeling. It was unbearable and still fresh and same like it was that day.

He barked, "I fucking told you to go inside the house but you don't do one thing I tell you. Tell me why you didn't listen to me?!"

She glared at him with seething rage,"Because  I am no slave of yours and you are no master of mine."

"Radhika I repeat go inside. Don't make me do something I would regret later." He clenched the words through his teeth.

"Arjun, I am really not..." Before she could even complete her sentence her feet lost contact with the ground as he had thrown her over his shoulder.

She struggled and fought tooth and nail to make him put her down but he didn't pay heed to her screams, curses and the punches she threw at his back. It didn't even hurt an incy wincy  bit. She wondered if he was made out of iron or stone and was not human like she was.

He brought her inside the house. His mom raced towards them and gave him an angry questioning glare but he just rolled his eyes. Thankfully his dad wasn't home as it would be really embarrassing for both of them.

Avantika snarled, ''What the hell is wrong with you?! Put her down at once."

He spoke in an amused tone, "Mom She isn't heavy at all in fact it feels like I am carrying a feather. I can carry her to our room."

Avantika scoffed, "Arjun,  she is not happy with you carrying her like a sack and she can walk as I can see God as given her feet."

Arjun retorted,"Well  mom I don't interfere when you give punishments to Dad when he does something which doesn't pleases you so even shouldn't interfere here too. I will put her down whenever I wish to."

Avantika scowls, "ARJUN PUT HER DOWN."

She continues,"How many times do I have to remind you ethics and manners?!  This is not how you treat a woman."

Arjun thought for a while and he wasn't ready to lose this to his mom. He hated losing more than death. Once he did and it nearly killed him. Just when Avantika thought he will listen to her and obey her, He said something which shocked her to the nerve.

"Well mom She isn't any woman. She is my wife so I own her. I can do anything with her as I please."

Radhika felt someone poured burning hot oil in her ears. Did Arjun just call her his wife?! Did he or did he not?! Was she dreaming?! She pinched the skin of her hand to confirm that she wasn't dreaming. After confirmation all she saw was red.  How dare he say she is his?! He has no right to say that then why?! But deep down,  in some corner of her heart it was a overwhelming feeling to hear something like this. She was angry but at the same time she felt happy too and that created havoc in her mind. She kept repeating...I am angry with Arjun and I just hate him,  I am angry with Arjun and I just hate him,  I am angry..... She kept chanting the same mantra in her mind.

So that's it for now.  I will update next chapter in the evening if  I get a good number of votes for this one.
