Arjun saw Radhika tossing and turning on the couch. He straightened up and walked to her and shook her lightly,"Get up Radhika. "

She opened her eyes and sat upright and screeched,"What are you crazy?! Its 1 am in the morning and you disturbed my sleep."

He stated in a hard tone,"Get up and go sleep on bed."

She shook her head negatively, "No I am fine here."

He snapped, "I am not asking you. Tomorrow if you have a back ache then mom will take my class nicely."

She pulled the quilt over her head and spoke, "Go sleep Arjun."

He huffed and threw the quilt away from her body and pulled her up. He scooped her in his arms. She started throwing her hands and feet in air.

She shouted, "Put me down you asshole."

But none of her protests and curses fell on deaf ears. He dumped her on bed and crawled on the other side. She looked at him as if he had grown two horns. How dare he think that he can sleep in same bed with her?!

She narrowed her eyes at him in anger,"I am not sleeping in the same bed with you."

He smirked,"Why not?! I am your husband, ain't I?!"

She rose up on her feet and tried to step down from the bed but he caught her wrist and pulled her back.

He spoke in apologetic tone,"I was just joking Radhika. Sleep here and I promise to keep my hands to myself. "

He continued with a mischievous glint,"But if you jump on me in the middle of night then don't blame me tomorrow. "

She scrunched up her nose in anger and made a pillow wall between them and spoke warningly,"Dare you come on my side. I'll kick you so hard that you won't be able to sit your butt down on anything for the rest of your life."

He asked amusingly, "What if you roll on my side?!"

She glared at him fiercely,"I won't."

She covered herself and closed her eyes waiting for sweet slumber to possess her.

He prodded his elbow on the pillow supporting his head and whispered, "Did you sleep?!

She answered without opening her eyes," No."

He stared at her intensely, "Why are you so beautiful?!"

Her eyes shot open at his compliment mixed question. She faced him and answered,"My granny was very beautiful. In fact I look just like her. When I use to look at her sitting in her lap, I use to feel I am looking at my own replica only difference was her blue eyes and her wrinkles."

"You must have got many proposals, right?!"

"Yes!!! Too many to count. I was the beauty queen of my college."

"Then why would a girl like you remain single?!"

"I was waiting for something extraordinary. I wanted someone to love the real me but no one did. No one could make me go down on my knees yet. " She replied in a thoughtful low tone.

She turned her face to his side and curiously asked,"Hey tell me about you and Aisha. I mean how you guys met?! How you both fell in love with each other?! How your relationship started?!"

Arjun lips stretched into a smile,"First I don't love her. And There is not much to tell about us. I met her in a business party. We were attracted towards each other and started dating. We are in a relationship for three years now."

Radhika quizzed,"Is it that simple?! "

He couldn't make out what she was implying to. He asked,"What?!"

She answered, "I mean you just meet her and realise that she is the one. Is it that simple?!"

He shook his head,"No we both took our time especially me. I would date for least three weeks but she was the only girl I dated for one year so we thought why not become something more for each other."

Radhika hesitantly asked,"Is she OK?!"

"No she is hurt maybe more than that. She has become very insecure and all this is taking a toll on her health. She keeps on calling me but I can't answer her calls in my office premises because all the calls are tapped there. Dad is trying his level best to keep her away from me and I can say he is succeeding. I can't meet her, talk to her, can't even see her." Arjun spoke in a upset tone.

Radhika stared at him apologetically,"I am sorry Arjun. Its all my fault."

"No its no one's fault. I think I should let her go because I don't think dad is ever going to accept her in my life. He'll break all ties with me if I court her. And I can't live without my family. I can't give up on people I love more than my life for a girl I like so much."

Radhika jolted up and sat upright and yelled, "No don't do that. Try to balance things. Don't let her go. Fight to be with her."

He laughed,"First time ever a wife does want her husband to leave his girlfriend. Your name should be added in Guinness book. "

Radhika scolded,"Hey I am talking on a serious topic here and you are cracking silly jokes."
 
He smirked, "I am not letting her go until I find a valid reason to do so and my family's hatred for her is far from the word valid so chill."

She smiled ear to ear,"See for yourself, You are a very good man who knows to take a stand for his love."

He irritatingly replied,"For the last time I don't love Aisha.  What we share is different and special but it is not love. If once again you utter this word I'll gag you."

She was tonguetied hearing his threat. 

He thought to himself,"Love is just a myth nothing more. It is a lie people say to themselves and others. I am so much better without it."

He turned to her side only to find it emty. He glanced all over the room and found her standing in the balcony and watching the mesmerising night. He walked over to her and said,"You should sleep. It's too late and good kids go to bed by now."

She glared at him, "I am not a kid for your kind information, Mister."

"You behave like one. You don't listen to me and you exactly do the opposite of what I say. It's too easy to pacify you, just stuff your mouth with ice-cream or chocolate and there you are saying Arjun I was never angry with you.  You are too sensitive which usually kids are. You complain to my mom for small things which even anu didn't did till date. Radhika you are a kid but at the same time you are a very beautiful woman who is smart,  kind,  loving,  caring, cute,  intelligent, trustworthy and the list goes on."

Her cheeks flushed darkest shade of red.  No one had ever complimented her the way he did today. All she heard till date were people singing praise of her beauty but how did she got so lucky to  hear something so incredibly sweet that tugged the strings of her heart. In just two weeks this man had become so important to her more than she ever wanted him to be. He was becoming the reason for her smile that stayed for longer period when she thought about him. Was it even possible to trust someone so fast that you don't feel any fear of getting hurt?! She felt as if she was flying without wings when with him. He had made her cry,  laugh, smile, frown all in one day. Few hours ago she was crying and now she was blushing hard on his compliment. He was the ultimate reason for every emotion her heart had felt today. He is good no he is the best. He made her happy though he scared her off many times but that didn't mean she changed her opinion about him. Then why he does not think the same about himself?! Why he thinks he is not a good man?! Why he pushes her away when she tries to know more about him?! All such questions troubled her leaving her in perplexed state.

"Come let's go to sleep. It's almost  2 am in the morning." He said.

She tailed behind him.

He slept on the left side while she took her favourite, the right side of bed.

He switched off the lights and said,"Sleep Radhika."

She mumbled,"Good night Arjun

He closed his eyes but she didn't. She couldn't stop herself from gawking at him. He looked so peaceful, so calm,  relaxed when he was asleep. Otherwise there was something eating him up, a pain she had read in his eyes but didn't know what it was. He had a remarkable ability of putting on a mask which was impossible to fall off. She wanted to see the face behind that mask. She wanted to know him. Why?!  She didn't had the answer for this why. But he helped her so much and if she could make him feel good about himself then that would be the least she could do to repay his favour. How she wished he could see himself through her eyes.  There wasn't a man who could come close to the status he had in her life. He was her saviour and she didn't like the term still he was her knight in shining armor who saved her. She respected him with all her heart. She felt angry when he said he wasn't worth her tears.  How could he say that?! If Aisha had stayed with him despite the fact that he was married now then he should have understood that he was a gem which no one would wish to lose. Aisha!!! That name ringed a bell in her brain.  She was thinking too much about Arjun when she wasn't supposed to.  He wasn't hers and he would never be hers. It was best to stay away from this feelings which were taking birth. She didn't wanted to play with fire. She was going to play safe to protect her heart. Yes from now on no thinking highly of Arjun. There are many other people she could think of but they were not him and that was the problem. The more she pushed him away from her thoughts but he managed his way inside her mind someway or the other. She found him interesting and it was fun to be with him. He was mysterious and that made her curiousity reached the skies. He was short tempered and that made her cautious and watch her words to keep out of danger. He made her heart beat faster than ever because she couldn't be at ease when with him. Even now few minutes back she had decided that she won't  think about him and now again she started doing the same thing. She felt annoyed with herself for having no self control over her thoughts. She slept after scolding herself mentally.
