Chapter 7
After their bout, the teachers offer feedback to their students, highlighting areas for improvement and mistakes made during the skirmish.
Monoma strides toward Shinsou, drawing Hikki's glare as he nears her father. Unbeknownst to her, Kaminari's expression shifts to one of jealousy as Monoma approaches.
Meanwhile, the other members of Class A brainstorm strategies and tactics for their upcoming matches, fully engrossed in their preparations.
During the second bout, Hato watches with pride swelling in his chest. Recalling stories from his mother about Tokoyami's internship with his father, he admires his older brother's prowess.
"My big brother is so cool!" Hato muses silently as he observes Tokoyami taking flight. However, despite their efforts, Class B emerges victorious in the second match.
After a break to allow the mushrooms to disappear and for the teams to relocate, it's time for the third match.
The next generation of Todorokis is practically vibrating with excitement, especially the twins. They sit down to Midoriya's left, having energetically shoved Mineta away.
"Hello, you two!" Ochako greets them cheerfully, and Midoriya waves.
"Are you excited for the next match?" Mina asks.
The twins nod eagerly.
"That Todoroki, he's a strong one, right?" Itsuki asks, pretending not to know.
"Yes. With Todoroki and his two wide-range attacks of flame and ice, Iida's speed, Shoji and his outstanding scout capabilities, and Ojiro, who is good at close combat, I think this is a nicely balanced team," Midoriya says.
Hato watches curiously as Tokoyami talks to his uncle, then sits down next to him. Hato looks at him.
"Is your throat all right?" he asks.
"Yes, thank you for asking," Tokoyami replies.
"I'm glad," Hato says, relieved, trying hard not to call him 'nii-san.'
"You know, you remind me of my mentor Hawks," Tokoyami suddenly says.
"I—I do? Why... why is that?" Hato curses under his breath.
"Your wings," Tokoyami points at them, "and you also act and look like him."
"I'm sure that's just a coincidence, heh..." Hato says, rubbing his neck nervously.
"Hmm..."
The match commences, and the teams engage in a head-on battle.
The twins watch with growing concern as Tetsutetsu relentlessly pummels their father. Despite Todoroki's efforts with both flames and ice, Tetsutetsu's onslaught continues unabated.
Itsuki winces as Todoroki receives a particularly brutal blow to the gut.
"We have to do something! He could get seriously injured at this rate!" Shosuke whispers urgently, tears welling in the corners of his green and grey eyes.
"No!" His sister hisses back, her turquoise eyes flashing. "I'm just as worried about Dad as you, but we cannot interfere! What if we change something by accident?"
Shosuke bites his lip and squeezes his eyes shut, unable to bear watching his father suffer. Todoroki's pained groans and grunts echo through the arena.
After a few tense minutes, Itsuki shakes Shosuke. "Shosuke, look! He's heating up so much! And now he's fried the camera!" she exclaims excitedly.
"Huh?" Shosuke opens his eyes and sees the screen, now showing only static due to the malfunctioning camera.
"I think he's about to do Prominence Burn..." Shosuke and Itsuki hold their breath, their gazes fixed on the screen with a mix of anticipation and adoration.
But then Honenuki intervenes, dropping a pipe on Todoroki, knocking him out. The twins gasp in horror.
Iida rushes past Honenuki, striking him, and manages to grab Todoroki. He attempts to flee, but Honenuki and Tetsutetsu cause a giant silo to collapse.
In a desperate move, Iida throws Todoroki to safety but becomes trapped underneath the rubble in the process.
With most of the participants rendered unconscious, Kaibara and Ojiro are captured, and Iida remains immobile.
Pony and Ojiro continue to fight as the Todorokis stare wide-eyed at the screen, overcome with shock.
"Dad..." "Uncle Shoto..." The four whisper, their voices tinged with disbelief.
The twins had known that their parents' training at UA would be challenging, but witnessing the extent of the brutality firsthand leaves them stunned.
Hikki and Kazumi are taken aback by the turn of events.
As the timer runs out, signaling a draw, the unconscious students are swiftly carried to the infirmary for treatment by Recovery Girl.
Without hesitation, the twins leap to their feet and bolt towards the infirmary.
"Hey! Itsuki! Shosuke! Come back here!" Hato calls after them, but Setsuko grabs his hand. "Let them go. They need this. I'm sure they'll be cautious about what they say," Setsuko says calmly.
Hato sighs and nods, settling back into his seat.
"Kiss."
Shoto startles awake, his eyes snapping open. He sits up, scanning the room.
"Iida," he says, noticing his classmate sitting beside his bed with his left arm and leg in casts.
"It seems you've regained consciousness. Here, have a CalorieBar. Ojiro already finished his and returned to class," Recovery Girl says, offering him a snack.
The door slams open, causing everyone to jump.
The twins burst into the room, panting.
"Dad!"
"Are you alright?" Itsuki asks.
"Are you injured?" Shosuke adds.
Shoto stares at them for a moment, bewildered. Did they just call him dad? No, that couldn't be right. He must have sustained a head injury, causing him to hear things.
"Don't barge in like that," scolds Recovery Girl, bringing them back to reality.
"Sorry, Recovery Girl," the twins apologize sheepishly.
"I'm already feeling much better, thanks to Recovery Girl," Shoto reassures them with a soft smile.
Itsuki sighs in relief. "Oh, thank All Might!"
"We were so worried!" Shosuke confesses, tears welling up in his eyes.
Then, unexpectedly for Shoto, they both throw themselves at him, embracing him tightly and shedding tears.
"That was so scary!"
"I thought you were going to burn to death!"
Shoto looks at Iida, alarmed, silently asking for help. Iida shrugs, equally puzzled, then gestures for Shoto to hug them back. Shoto complies, albeit stiffly, feeling rather awkward.
Remembering what his mother used to do to comfort him when he cried, he raises his hands slowly and begins to pat the twins' heads softly.
"I'm okay, everything's alright," he whispers as gently as he can manage.
After a minute, the twins calm down and step back, their eyes widening in realization. They apologize profusely for their emotional outburst.
Meanwhile, as the fourth match begins, Kazumi whispers excitedly, "My Papa is next!" Hikki joins in with a quiet clap, whispering, "Yay, Uncle Bakugou!"
"Would you two quiet down? You're not even trying to be secretive!" Hato scolds them.
"Sorry, Hato," they both apologize.
The two teams engage in combat. Kamakiri prepares to strike Jiro, but Bakugou swiftly intervenes, kicking her away from the attack.
"You blocked it? Bugs have fast reflexes, huh?" Kamakiri remarks.
"Thanks!" Jirou yells gratefully as Bakugou propels him out of harm's way, causing him to land on a nearby pipe, where he kneels to catch his breath.
"Shut up! They got away! Look for them! It doesn't matter if it's class or what. I've decided. I will have complete victory in every fight. 4-0, no injuries! That's how someone who is strong wins!" Bakugou's voice booms with determination, commanding the attention of everyone present.
Kazumi cheers enthusiastically, but her excitement wanes when she hears Monoma's commentary.
"Huh? Is there something wrong with my eyes? It looked like he protected Jirou...?" Monoma questions, his tone tinged with disbelief.
"He did - with a kick," Kaminari confirms.
"That's actually how he is. Monoma, don't worry. There is nothing wrong with your eyes," Hato reassures, his voice calm yet firm.
Monoma laughs maniacally. "Are you saying his personality changed?!"
Kazumi shoots him a glare before turning her attention to her father, who speaks in a surprisingly calm manner.
"Uh, well. It's true that it's the first time I've seen him do something as obvious as putting himself on the line," Shoto admits, his voice betraying a hint of admiration.
"Whoa, he sounds so in love," Kazumi muses happily as the fight continues.
In the end, Class A emerges victorious, having captured all the opposing team members.
Kazumi and Hikki cheer exuberantly, caught up in the excitement of the moment.
"That was amazing! He is so strong!" Hikki exclaims, shaking her friend excitedly.
"He's the best!" Kazumi agrees wholeheartedly, her eyes sparkling as she gazes at her father on the screen.
