Chapter 17

Hato stumbles back into the dorms, breathless, and slams the door behind him with a heavy thud.

"I screwed up," he blurts out, his expression fraught with worry.

The Todorokis and Kaminaris, who were in the midst of getting ready for their respective dinners, turn to him with wide eyes.

"Ooh, is Hato-nii in trouble?" Setsuko snickers mischievously.

"Shut up!" Hato retorts sharply, his frustration evident in his tone.

"Make me!" Setsuko challenges, a playful glint in her eyes.

"I'm serious!" Hato insists, his voice tinged with urgency.

Shoto lets out a resigned sigh. "Whatever you did, I'm sure it's fine. Now come on, we have to go." He takes Izuku's hand and moves to open the door.

Hato looks at his uncle, puzzled. "Go where?"

Shoto turns back around. "My mom invited us for dinner, remember?"

Hato points at the twins, who are putting on their shoes. "I thought that only counted for the twins?"

"Yes, initially, but they begged me to bring you and Setsuko," Shoto explains.

Hato shoots a glare at his cousins. Setsuko simply shrugs, casually chewing gum before blowing a bubble and letting it pop in his face. Hato swats her away like a bothersome insect, eliciting a cackle from Setsuko.

"I'm not facing Grandpa without you!" Itsuki hisses, her anxiety evident.

"You're too protective of us to say no," Shosuke adds, crossing his arms defiantly.

Hato groans in annoyance but reluctantly agrees. He turns to Setsuko with a quizzical expression. "How did they convince you?"

Setsuko responds with her typical mischievous grin, rubbing her hands together as if plotting something devious. "I'm in it for the chaos, obviously."

Hato sighs, shaking his head. "Just let me get changed," he mutters, feeling resigned to the situation. Shoto nods in understanding.

A little while later, Hato returns after changing into more suitable attire for the dinner.

"Everyone ready?" Shoto asks, his voice carrying a note of determination.

"Yes!" The cousins respond in unison, their voices echoing through the hallway.

"Alright, let's go. Endeavor's car is waiting outside," Shoto announces, leading the way as they exit the dorms.

Denki and Hikki wave after them, their smiles brightening the corridor as they watch the group make their way to the Aizawa Residence.

"Have fun!" Denki calls out cheerfully, his enthusiasm contagious.

Shosuke and Midoriya wave back, exchanging well wishes. "You too!" they reply, their voices filled with genuine warmth.

The two families part ways, each heading to their respective destinations. The Todorokis pile into the car, anticipation and nerves swirling in the air.

Shosuke chews on his nails nervously, a habit he can't seem to shake. Itsuki nudges him gently, offering silent reassurance. "Calm down. I'm here, and everything will be fine," she whispers, her words like a soothing balm to her brother's frayed nerves. He takes a deep breath, feeling a sense of comfort wash over him as he gives her a thankful smile.

Before they know it, they arrive at their destination, the imposing figure of the Todoroki Residence looming before them. Shoto glares at the house, his resolve unwavering even in the face of uncertainty. Midoriya takes his hand, squeezing it gently in a silent gesture of support.

"Let's get this over with," Shoto says, his voice firm as they approach the front door, ready to face whatever awaits them inside.

"If you're feeling too uncomfortable, we don't have to go through with this," Midoriya says softly, his concern evident in his eyes.

"No, I want to. I want to introduce my boyfriend to my family," Shoto responds, giving Midoriya a quick peck on the lips before striding towards the front door. With a steady hand, he rings the doorbell, his heart pounding in anticipation.

The door swings open, revealing Fuyumi standing there with a warm smile. "Shoto! Welcome!" she greets them enthusiastically.

"Hello, Nee-san," Shoto returns the greeting with a nod.

"Come on in!" Fuyumi gestures for them to enter, and they step inside, slipping off their shoes and slipping into house slippers.

As they make their way towards the living room, Shoto notices a familiar pair of shoes by the entrance. "Natsu-nii is here too?" he asks.

Setsuko perks up at the mention of Natsuo's name, her curiosity piqued. Fuyumi nods in confirmation as she leads them further into the house. Natsuo is already in the living room, engrossed in a book. He looks up and waves casually as they enter.

"Please, sit down, everyone. Make yourselves comfortable," Fuyumi invites, and they all take their seats. Setsuko positions herself next to Natsuo, who greets her with a polite smile.

"Mom is in the kitchen, preparing dinner. Let me reintroduce myself. I'm Fuyumi Todoroki, Shoto's older sister. It's a pleasure to meet you," Fuyumi says warmly, addressing the group.

"It's nice to meet you too," they chorus in response.

Fuyumi then gestures towards Natsuo. "And this is Natsuo Todoroki, Shoto's older brother."

"Hi," Natsuo offers a brief greeting, his attention returning to his book.

"Shoto, why don't you introduce us to your friends?" Fuyumi prompts, a hint of curiosity evident in her voice as she takes in the sizable group Shoto has brought along.

"This is Izuku Midoriya, my boyfriend," Shoto introduces proudly, a hint of affection coloring his tone.

Fuyumi's grin brightens, while Natsuo raises an eyebrow knowingly, his gaze flickering between Shoto and Midoriya.

Shoto continues, gesturing towards his friends, "These are Itsuki, Shosuke, Setsuko, and Hato. They're exchange students currently residing at U.A."

Fuyumi's eyes light up with curiosity. "Oh, how interesting! What school do you go to?"

Shosuke looks to his dads for guidance, feeling the pressure of the moment. "Uh..." he hesitates, searching for the right words.

"Shiketsu High!" Itsuki blurts out, coming to the rescue.

Setsuko nods in agreement, though a bit more slowly. "Yes, that's our school."

Hato chuckles nervously, feeling slightly out of place.

Fuyumi and Natsuo exchange a puzzled glance at their peculiar behavior, but ultimately shrug it off.

"I'm home!" Natsuo's and Shoto's expressions darken at the sound of their father's voice.

"Ah, father is back! Right on time, I'll go get him," Fuyumi announces, excusing herself to fetch Endeavor.

Midoriya takes Shoto's hand, offering him silent reassurance as he strokes his knuckles soothingly. "Everything will be fine, I'm here," he whispers, his voice a comforting presence in the tense atmosphere.

Fuyumi returns with Endeavor in tow, the imposing figure of the No.1 Hero filling the room.

"Everyone, meet our father, Enji Todoroki, also known as the No.1 Hero, Endeavor. Father, these are Shoto's friends from school. Mom invited them over for dinner," Fuyumi explains, her tone respectful but distant. Endeavor nods in acknowledgment, his expression unreadable.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance," Endeavor greets with a stiff nod, his demeanor formal and distant.

The cousins shoot him ice-cold glares, their expressions conveying clear disdain.

"I'd say same, but ..." Setsuko eyes him with undisguised disgust, her words trailing off into an unspoken rejection.

Endeavor blinks, clearly taken aback by their blunt response. Meanwhile, Natsuo and Shoto struggle to suppress their laughter, exchanging amused glances.

Fuyumi laughs nervously, attempting to diffuse the tension. "Nice, aren't they?"

Endeavor huffs in response, a hint of annoyance flickering across his features. "I'll go see how Rei is doing," he declares, using the excuse to make a swift exit from the awkward encounter.

"Good one!" Natsuo exclaims, extending his hand for a high five, which Setsuko reciprocates eagerly, grinning brightly at her brother's approval.

"Thanks, Dad!" Setsuko chirps happily, reveling in the successful prank.

Endeavor returns, confusion evident in his expression as he tries to piece together the exchange.

Hato, meanwhile, simply facepalms in disappointment, resigned to the antics of his eccentric family.

Sometime earlier, at the Aizawa residence, Shinsou rings the doorbell, his hand intertwined with Denki's as Hikki stands beside them.

The door swings open, revealing Eri, whose eyes light up at the sight of her visitors. "Nii-chan! Pikachu! Hi!" she exclaims joyfully.

"Hi, Eri!" Denki responds cheerfully, reciprocating her excitement.

"Hello, Eri," Shinsou adds with a smile.

Eri's gaze then lands on Hikki, and she beams. "Another Pikachu?!"

Hikki giggles sweetly. "Hello!"

Eri ushers them inside, and they exchange their shoes for house slippers before following her to the living room. They settle on the couch opposite Shota and Eri.

"There you are; your mother was starting to worry," Shota remarks with a chuckle, nodding toward the kitchen where his wife is busy cooking.

"We're not even late, Mom," Shinsou groans playfully.

"You know I worry anyway, sweetie," his mother responds, a hint of amusement in her voice.

"Daddy! Daddy!" Eri interrupts, bouncing excitedly on the couch.

"What is it, honey?" Shota inquires.

"There are two Pikachus!" Eri points enthusiastically at Denki and Hikki.

"It's not polite to point at people," Shota reminds her gently.

"Sorry, Daddy," Eri replies sheepishly.

Denki and Hikki share a chuckle at the exchange.

"Can I show the new Pikachu my room?" Eri asks eagerly.

"She has a name, you know," Shota chides playfully.

Hikki waves off her grandfather's concern with a smile. "It's fine," she reassures him before turning her attention to Eri. "I'd love to see your room."

Eri cheers enthusiastically, bounding off the couch and pulling Hikki along with her down the hallway. Once they're out of earshot, Shinsou fixes his father with a serious gaze.

"Okay, Dad, spill. Something is off about these so-called exchange students."

"What do you mean, son?" Aizawa replies, feigning innocence.

"You can't fool me, Dad," Shinsou persists.

"What are you talking about, Toshi?" Denki interjects, looking at his boyfriend with concern.

"They're from the future, aren't they?" Shinsou asserts.

Aizawa chokes on his coffee, coughing as Mailin rushes over to pat him on the back.
