Chapter 15
"Sneaking out?! Seriously, problem children??" Aizawa's glare pierced the four teens standing before him, while the rest of the class watched from the couches at the back of the common room.
Shoto stepped forward. "I'm sorry, Sensei. It was my idea. I dragged Izuku and the twins along. Only I'm to blame."
"Shoto-"
"Dad-"
"Only punish me, Sensei," Shoto insisted, cutting off Midoriya's and the twins protest.
Aizawa sighed heavily. "You're lucky nothing happened. Detention for all of you on Monday after classes."
"But Sensei-"
"No buts! I'm leaving. I need a nap... and a raise," Aizawa grumbled before turning to address the rest of the class.
"Damn!" Kaminari exclaimed from his seat on the couch, leaning against Shinsou.
"Shinsou, Kaminari, Hikki, come here," Aizawa called, waving them over. The three approached, puzzled expressions on their faces.
"My wife has invited you over for dinner tomorrow night," Aizawa informed them.
"Why?" Shinsou questioned.
"Don't question your mother. Be at the house by six."
"Okay, we'll be there," Shinsou agreed, while Hikki and Kaminari grinned in excitement.
"Sneaking out, that's not like you at all," Momo remarked to Shoto and Midoriya as they joined their classmates on the couches.
Setsuko and Hato approached Shoto. "We've cleaned up like you asked," Setsuko reported.
"Good," Shoto acknowledged with a nod.
The twins took their seats alongside Kazumi, Hikki, Hato, and Setsuko.
"Guess who we ran into at the mall?" Itsuki whispered, drawing the others in closer.
"Shigaraki?" Setsuko's blunt question cut through the air.
"No! Grandma and Aunt Fuyumi!" Shosuke hissed urgently.
"What?!" The attention of everyone in the room swiftly turned to them, and Hato lowered his voice again.
Itsuki and Shosuke proceeded to recount their unexpected encounter.
"Did not see that coming," Hato remarked with a shrug.
"Really? After all that happened?" Setsuko retorted sarcastically.
Hato shrugged again.
"Also, grandma invited us over for dinner," Shosuke added.
"This just keeps getting better!" Setsuko's tone dripped with sarcasm.
"Cut the sarcasm, Setsuko, this is serious," Hato interjected, his expression grave as he turned back to the twins. "You declined, right?"
The twins remained silent.
"You gotta be kidding me!"
"It's not our fault!" Itsuki defended.
"Yeah! Dad is the one who agreed!" Shosuke pointed out.
"You can't go! That is way too risky!" Hato forbade them, his tone firm.
"I agree," Setsuko chimed in unexpectedly.
"Yeah—wait, what? You agree with me?!" Hato's wide-eyed surprise mirrored the sentiments of everyone else.
"It surprises me more than you, believe me. But you're right. It's already bad enough that Uncle Shoto and Uncle Izuku know. Heck, even the rest of the class knows something because they heard you call them Todoroki, but they're too scared of Sensei to ask questions so they're just super suspicious," Setsuko explained, her tone reflecting a mix of frustration and resignation.
"So what? We just say no to Grandma. We might as well die!" Itsuki exclaimed with exasperation.
"Right, saying no to Grandma is worse than kicking a puppy and throwing it off a cliff," Shosuke agreed, nodding in agreement.
"Wow, that's unusually dark for you," someone remarked.
Shosuke shrugged.
"We gotta think of something. If you do end up going, you gotta be super careful," Hato advised, prompting an eye roll from the twins.
"We should probably wait for Sensei to calm down before we ask for permission to go tomorrow," Shoto suggested, and Midoriya nodded in agreement.
"Go where?" Kirishima piped up curiously.
"We ran into my mother and sister at the mall earlier today, and my mother invited us over for dinner tomorrow," Shoto explained.
"Ooh!" Mina wiggled her eyebrows teasingly, earning a blush from Midoriya.
"Well, on that note, Hikki and I have been invited to dinner at Shinsou's house just now as well!" Kaminari announced.
"Is that what Aizawa called you over for?" Ochako inquired, and Kaminari nodded.
"Why would he be the one to tell you that, ribbit?" Tsuyu asked.
"Because he's my dad," Shinsou clarified.
"WHAT?!" The exclamation burst from the group simultaneously, their reactions a mix of shock and disbelief.
"You didn't realize? I've theorized this for a while now, they look literally the same," Shoto pointed out.
Kaminari smiled proudly. "I already knew."
"Yeah, because you've been over to my place before," Shinsou teased, earning a playful swat from Kaminari.
"Oh shush, babe," Kaminari retorted with a grin.
"Called it," Mina chimed in, unable to contain her excitement.
"We weren't really hiding our relationship though—" Shinsou began, but Mina quickly shushed him, silencing him with a finger to his lips.
"Shhh—" Mina insisted, with a mischievous glint in her eye.
Shinsou rolled his eyes at her antics.
Hikki grinned, turning to her friends. "That makes three of our parents already dating."
"Pretty sure my parents are already together as well," Hato pointed out. "I think my mom is already pregnant too."
They all turned to Setsuko, who simply shrugged. "No idea if they're already together."
"Guys! Look at this!" Iida exclaimed, turning up the volume of the TV. On the screen, a Nomu was seen engaging in combat with a Pro Hero.
"This is ... News station! What you're seeing right now is one of the strongest Nomus yet! It seems to have a fire quirk as well. Most of the area here is already destroyed or burned!" the reporter's voice echoed from the television as the camera zoomed in on the intense battle, purple flames engulfing the surroundings. "The Pro Heroes are evacuating the civilians as our No. 2 fights the villain."
"No. 2?!"
"Did she just say No. 2?"
"Hawks..." Tokoyami muttered, his expression betraying his concern for his mentor.
Hato's eyes widened in shock, his breath catching in his throat as he stared at the screen, his mind racing with thoughts and emotions.
On screen, Hawks battled the Nomu with ferocity. His once-pristine feathers were now matted with blood, many singed from the fiery onslaught, yet he persisted, refusing to yield to the relentless assault.
At the League of Villains hideout, tensions ran high as Dabi slammed his fist against the table, his anger palpable. "What the fuck, Shiggy?!" he exclaimed, his voice thick with frustration. "You said the Nomu would just cause some chaos to scare the Pros!"
Shigaraki's grin widened as he watched the chaos unfold. "It's gone out of control. Let it rage, this is fun!"
"Are you out of your mind?!" Dabi shot back, his tone laced with urgency. "We need him, he gives us intel on the Pros!"
Shigaraki dismissed Dabi's concerns with a scoff. "He's useless."
As the Nomu delivered a devastating blow to Hawks, sending him crashing to the ground, Dabi's gaze remained fixed on the screen, his expression tense with worry.
Meanwhile, at U.A., Hato burst out of the dorms, his heart pounding with fear and determination. Ignoring the worried calls of his peers, he flew off, his sole focus on reaching his mother.
In the midst of his agony, Hawks struggled to catch his breath, his body wracked with pain. Tears welled in his eyes as he cradled his wounded stomach, a sense of resignation washing over him.
As the Nomu loomed over him, emitting a chilling shriek, Hawks found himself immobilized, his thoughts drifting to his loved ones. "This is it... I'm sorry, my babybird," he whispered softly, tears streaming down his cheeks, a bittersweet smile playing on his lips.
With a thunderous crash, the Nomu brought its massive fists down.
"MAMA!"
"KEIGO!"
