Part Nine
Yoongi is standing in the doorway of the house, smiling as Jimin hurries down the stairs. His grandmother was sitting on the couch, with a nearly completed sweater in her lap, only needing to finish the sleeves. He already had the feeling that when she was completely done, she would make Jimin try it on, in hopes that it would fit. And it most likely would, she always knew his size.
She gives him a warm smile and motions towards the sweater. "I'm nearly done, it's going to be your newest Christmas sweater Jiminie. I'm making everyone in the family one this year so we can all look nice for the holiday photos," She turns to Yoongi, eyeing him a little, her smile widening. "I think I'll make you one too Yoongi, especially since you're seeing my grandson. You look to be the same size as Jimin, so I'll go off of that. Though I may need exact measurements to be sure," Yoongi gives her a soft nod and a grin. "Yes ma'am," She turns back to Jimin. "You too have fun. You can stay over if you like Jimin, especially if it gets really late," Jimin nods and softly kisses her on the cheek. "Bye grandma," She waves as he heads out the door, Yoongi following behind him.
There was no car outside this time and Jimin wasn't the least bit surprised. Two blocks isn't that far by a long shot. They would be at Yoongi's in less than 10 minutes. He could feel the butterflies fluttering around continuously, his entire body feeling lightweight. He feels Yoongi's presence suddenly get closer to him and his hands gently reside on his waist, just like he did on the beach. Jimin feels the blush crawling up onto his face as Yoongi rests his head onto his shoulder once more. "You smell nice..is that coffee and..something else?" Jimin nods slowly, feeling Yoongi's hair tickle his neck when he moves. "Coffee and sandalwood.." Yoongi smiles, "I like it..you should wear it again.." If he didn't let Jimin go, he felt like he might melt right there in his grandmother's driveway.
Yoongi moves away, as does the warmth that his body gave off. The butterflies seem to be yelling for Yoongi to return but Jimin stamps them down as they begin to walk. It was dark out, the streetlights being on, which also meant it was really quiet. Jimin felt an opportunity rise, tired of the butterflies and his blush defining him. He decided to be bold, moving up to Yoongi and interlacing their fingers together. Yoongi looks at him, saying nothing, but his smile says everything that Jimin needed to know. He was a little surprised, but he enjoyed it, not letting go of Jimin's hand, instead tightening his grip, not too much, but enough for Jimin to feel.
Yoongi had his own set of butterflies to deal with, which hadn't been with him in a long time. He has had them here and there, but not like this. Jimin had a way of setting Yoongi's heart on a marathon, beating so hard that he almost thought something was wrong with him. He felt something for Jimin and he had a sense that Jimin felt something too.
They both walk hand in hand all the way to Yoongi's, saying nothing the entire way, both lost in their own thoughts. Yoongi's house was semi-big, made of brick, perfect for one person or a small family. Jimin smiles and looks at him. "Your house is very charming," Yoongi laughs and nods. "Yeah, my parents helped me buy it. That way, I could move out, have my own space and freedom," He unlocks the door, leading Jimin inside. He is immediately in the living room, seeing the open kitchen and dining room to the right, another hallway, and the stairs. He smiles as Yoongi closes the door. "Very homey," Jimin turns to look at him. "So, dinner?" Yoongi grins. "How does ramen sound?"
—————
Once their order arrives, Jimin and Yoongi are on the couch, both having ordered some ramen and some dumplings to share. Yoongi looks over at Jimin, smiling after a while before speaking. "You know, I never got to tell you that I love your sense of style..and you look good without your glasses. I would have said it earlier, but I was distracted by how amazing you smell," Jimin turns and looks at him, smiling with a questioning look. "Are you just saying that to make me smile or do you actually mean it?" Yoongi raises an eyebrow, his smile widening. "Have I lied to you yet?" He did have a point, Jimin thinks to himself. "Okay i'll give you that one, but only that one for now," Yoongi chuckes as they continue to eat.
Once they were finished, Yoongi got up to throw away everything in the kitchen. Jimin was curious what would happen next. The whole point of him coming over was dinner, but his grandmother did say he could stay over. But, he didn't know how much Yoongi he could handle. He already got butterflies from simply thinking about him. Being in his prescence was starting to make it worse and he didn't know how much more he could handle before jumping on him and kissing him like he should have done at the beach.
Yoongi comes out of the kitchen, leaning against the archway. Jimin looks at him and has to force his eyes to not wander, forcing himself to block out the fact that his shirt had rose for Jimin to slightly see Yoongi's v-line. He gulps softly as a small smile appears on Yoongi's lips. "Do you want to see my studio?" Jimin perks up a little, actually curious about that. He knows Yoongi is into music, having remembered that from the park he showed him on their first date. And since Jimin himself loved music, he was excited to see into someone else's vision. He nods, prompting Yoongi to motion for him to follow, leading him down the hallway beside the kitchen. Jimin follows, noting the family photos on the wall as Yoongi stops at the door at the end of the hallway. "I've never let anyone in here, it might be a little messy," Jimin nods and walks in, completely immersed in what he sees.
The room was indeed messy, but it was not something that Jimin minded. There were notes and crumpled papers thrown across the floor, probably filled with music ideas that didn't pan out. There was a keyboard in one corner and a guitar in the other. There were microphones set up, padding on the walls for sound absorbtion and a curtain completely blocking out the light that would be coming through the window. There was also a desk, all types of notes strewn across it. Jimin moved inwards towards the keyboard, picking up a paper that is sitting on it. He sees notes about different types of tunes, keyboard notes, as well as a few lyrics. He feels Yoongi watching him, turning back to look at him. He was leaning against the wall, just like he was in the kitchen, this time with a different look in his eye. It wasn't something Jimin could decipher. It looked almost like longing or was it more...vulnerable?
"Do you want to hear it?" Yoongi asks him. Jimin looks back down at the paper in his hand and back at him. "I'm not finished with it, but I could show you," Jimin nods and sits in the chair at the desk as Yoongi sits down at the keyboard. He looks down at the keys before placing his hands on them and beginning to play.
Jimin listens and watches him as Yoongi's fingers float across the keys, his head bent down as he plays. The sounds coming from the keyboard sounded mornful, sad, like there was a curtain of black washing over Jimin. He could feel exactly what was being played to him. Yoongi didn't look up as he played, looking at the keys as the beat picked up, still sad sounding, but turning into something almost hopeful. Jimin felt moved by it in a way, making him see Yoongi somewhat differently. Sure, he was absolutely hot and had a way of making Jimin's stomach do a million somersaults, but this was someone who had not only made music from his keyboard, but had made something that had nearly brought Jimin to tears.
Yoongi stops apruptly, rubbing the back of his neck, pulling Jimin out of his thoughts. "That's all I have so far. I haven't had much time to finish it," Jimin looks at him, curious. "What is it about?" Yoongi gives him a grim smile. "Heartbreak. I started finding ideas about it after my girlfriend and I broke up. It isn't about her, really, it's just in general. My feelings fueled me to make it. I've tried lyrics for it, but I haven't found anything that fits it yet," Jimin looks at the paper still in his hand and back at him. "Will you..play it for me again?" Yoongi nods and begins to play, Jimin closing his eyes. He listens to the beat of keyboard, the soft sounds, the low sounds. Picking up the patterns, Jimin starts humming along with it. He gets lost in the music, letting the feeling of the music take him. Before long, he starts harmonizing with the music.
Yoongi looks up at him now, seeing his eyes closed and how he is keeping up with the music with ease. He didn't know that Jimin could sing, let along had an ear for music. He remembered Jimin telling him he loved music, but he didn't think it was anything like this. He smiles softly as he continues to play, never having someone around him that cared about music as much as he did. Not even Jazmine really understood how much music meant to him. And here Jimin was, having only been in Yoongi's life for one week, humming along and harmonizing with his playing.
Once Yoongi stops playing, Jimin stops as well. He opens his eyes, seeing that Yoongi is staring at him. He feels himself blush. "What?" Yoongi smiles amd shakes his head. "Nothing, I've just never had someone to harmonize with before," Jimin stands and comes over to him, looking at the keyboard. "Your playing..it brings so much emotion. It's like I could feel exactly what you were feeling when you started playing it. I feel the sadness, the heartbreak, and the hope. It was so..vulnerable.."
Yoongi stands up now, looking straight into Jimin's eyes. He feels that same feeling that he was feeling earlier, those butterflies. But now, there was a soft tug at his heart. Jimin was feeling the same thing as he looked back, the butterflies continuing to fly. But even with the butterflies, he felt different. It was like the air in the room had completely shifted. His heart was beating faster, his entire body ached. Was this the feeling his grandmother was talking about? Did he know?
Of course he knew. He knew it from the beginning. He knew it as soon as he laid eyes on him in that coffeeshop. He knew it before he talked to his grandmother. The cable car, the beach, he knew. He was too afraid to admit it to himself, but he couldn't deny it now. Yoongi was the one.
Jimin takes a step towards him, not even thinking about what he was doing. It was almost as if his body knew exactly what he needed to do. Yoongi's arms automatically wrap around Jimin's waist as Jimin places his hands against his toned chest, like he has dreamed of doing. His chest was firm, almost like a wall. But, he could feel his heart. His heart was beating just as fast as Jimin's, maybe even faster. "You feel it too?" Yoongi slowly nods, unable to take his eyes off of him. He reaches up, running a hand through Jimin's hair, as if asking for permission. Jimin gives him a small smile, his eyes sparkling for the first time in months. He didn't even have to say anything, Yoongi already knew. He pulled Jimin to him, closing any space that they had between them and enveloping his lips into a kiss.
