Part 5

3 PM.
It's been hours since I left Jin's parent's house.
Where is he? Should I go back there? No, then I'll look suspicious as hell.
Sitting on the sofa, I nervously bite my nails waiting for Jin to come home.
I shouldn't have left. What if Jungkook tells Jin about us?
The anxiety is so unbearable that I start pacing back & forth in the living room.
I can't do this anymore. I'll go crazy. I need to ask Seoyeon's opinion on this.
I grab my phone from the table & dial Seoyeon's number.
"What's up? Aren't you supposed to be at Jin's friend's welcoming party?"
"Seoyeon ah.." My tears involuntarily fall as soon as I hear her voice.
"Ya, what's wrong? I don't like that tone. Are you crying?"
"Seoyeon ah.. What should I do? Everything's a huge mess now." I sob.
Then, I start telling her about what happened earlier with Jungkook.
"Oh. My. God. So Justin is Jungkook? That Jeon Jungkook from Vegas?" She mutters in disbelief.
"Yes. I can't believe the coincidence. I thought I would never meet him again. But here he is."
"Daebak.. This just keeps getting better." She whispers lowly.
"Better?" I inquire, confused.
"I mean, worse. So, what are you gonna do? Are you really going to postpone your wedding?" She asks.
"I don't know. Should I just confess everything to Jin? He might be able to understand the situation & forgive me, right?"
"No! I mean, no. Don't tell Jin. Imagine if you were in his position, would you forgive him if he got married to someone else right before your wedding?" She exclaims rather hysterically.
"You're right. I should settle this quietly with Jungkook. Huh.. I still can't believe that I got into this mess. Even if I was drunk shitless, how could I sleep with a stranger? It was sooo unlike me." I sigh heavily.
"Well, shit happens Y/n. Life can't always be perfect." Her sarcastic tone takes me by surprise.
"Sorry, I shouldn't keep burdening you with my problem. Anw, how are you?" I quickly change the subject, worried that she's tired of listening to my problems.
"Nothing much. Actually, I-"
Right then, the door clicks open.
"Seoyeon ah, mianhae (sorry). But it looks like Jin has come home. I'll call you again later ok?" I abruptly end the call.
"H-Hey, you're home. Did you have a good time?" I smile at Jin as he walks into the living room, but he doesn't reciprocate.
He plops down across me & looks right into my eyes.
"What did you do?" He asks, voice stern.
My heart instantly drops to the floor.
Did Jungkook tell him about our marriage?
"W-What do you mean?" I stutter.
"What did you do to Jungkook?" Blood drains from my face as my brain churns, looking for an answer to his question.
"I-I don't understand.."
"I can't believe it." Jin shakes his head & looks down at his hands.
"J-Jin, I-I can explain-"
He suddenly lifts his head & pulls me into a hug.
"You're seriously awesome. For the first time ever, he actually approves of my girlfriend! Well, fiancée."
I thought I heard him wrong, so I push him away in confusion.
"W-What? He approves of me?"
"Yeah! He had nothing but good words to say about you. In fact, he invited us to his beach house tomorrow. Initially, he planned it to be some kind of boys night, but he thought you were cool so he asked me to bring you as well." Jin smiles at me as he puts a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I don't think I should go. I don't want to interrupt-"
"You have to! Come on, it'll be fun. If you don't go, I won't go either." Jin pouts his lips & pleads.
"I'll think about it." I say to pacify him.
"Alright then, I'll take a shower first then we can go out for dinner afterwards." He kisses my cheek & steps towards our bedroom.
Jungkook approves of me? What game is this guy playing?
"Y/n ah.." Jin's call snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Yes?"
"You literally are the best I've ever had. I love you so much." He blows a kiss at me from the bedroom door with such a blissful expression on his face.
I can feel my heart clenches painfully. He will definitely be devastated if he finds out the truth, so
I should prevent that from happening at all cost.
"I love you too." I finally manage to reply while suppressing the lump in my throat.
I need to talk to Jungkook & demand a quick divorce. I can't let him control me. Yes Y/n, you can do this, don't be afraid of him.
Suddenly, my phone vibrates on the table. A text from an unknown number comes in.

The following day
The sun rays beam on my face as I stare out the window. It's such a bright & beautiful day, but my mood is dark & gloomy.
"Y/n ah, what's wrong? You've been very quiet." Jin asks in concern as he squeezes my hand.
"Huh? Nothing. I was just spacing out." I flash him a reassuring smile.
"Thanks for agreeing to come with me today. It really means a lot to me." He says as he kisses my hand.
"I've been meaning to ask, why is Jungkook so important to you? I mean, you rarely talk about him.." I cautiously ask.
"Actually, uhm.. he's a part of my embarrassing past." Jin answers sheepishly.
"Embarrassing?" I look at him in confusion.
"Well, I used to be the nerdy chubby kid in school & no one wanted to be my friend. Real friend, I mean. Those who approached me only did so because of my parents' wealth. But Jungkook was different. Although he was my dongsaeng, he would stand up for me whenever my schoolmates bullied or talked bad about me behind my back. Plus, we were kinda similar, no one wanted to be his friends too because his dad was just a regular salaryman. He was able to enroll in the school because he got a scholarship. So we always had each other's back since grade school, until he moved to the US because of his parents' job."
"Wow, how come you never told me about all this?"
"Coz I wanted to be perfect in your eyes. Being an outcast isn't exactly a glorifying image." He shrugs & smiles tightly.
"Jin, you don't need to be perfect. We all have our flaws. I love you as a whole, your flaws & imperfections included." I'm surprised that he thinks that way.
"You are perfect. I haven't seen any flaw in you. That's why I'm ever so grateful that I met you." He turns to me & kisses my hand again.
There it goes again, the stab of guilt in the center of my chest.
"I-I'm not perfect Jin. No one is." I avert my gaze & stare out the window.
"Don't argue with me. You absolutely are. Anw, we're here." Jin stops the car in front of a massive modern mansion.
"Jungkook lives here?" I ask in awe as I scan the handsome building.
"Nah, this is just his beach house. He lives in an apartment in Gangnam whenever he's back in Korea.
He's made quite a fortune with his gaming company in the States. He's probably even richer than me now. Why? Are you surprised?" He chuckles as he locks the car door.
"A little bit." I admit.
No wonder he has such a cocky attitude. Rich kid syndrome.
"Oh no. I forgot to bring the wine." Jin suddenly stops in his track.
"I'll get it. You go ahead. I'll meet you inside."
"Alright then. It's on the back passenger seat. Here's the key."
I walk quickly back to the car & open the door.
"There it is." I grab the wine bottle & something on the car floor catches my eyes.
It's an earring, which looks quite familiar but is definitely not mine. My heart stops for a moment.
Does he have another woman? Is he cheating on me? That can't be.
I stare at the piece of metal, my mind going chaotically at different direction. In the end, I pick it up & put it in my bag.
My brain is still filled with worrisome thoughts when I press the doorbell.
The door abruptly swings open, revealing a smirking Jungkook.
"I thought you took Jin hyung's car & ran away." He says as he leans on the door frame.
"Why would I do that?" I frown, his whole being annoys the heck out of me.
"I don't know, maybe because you're too afraid to see me again? Thanks for the wine." He snatches the bottle from my hand & walks into the house, causing me to gasp in surprise.
"What?" He turns his face around & throws me a mean glance.
"You really have no manners, don't you?"
"Oh forgive me. I thought I could just drop the formality since we're husband & wife." He steps towards me, his face dangerously close to mine.
My heart feels like it's about to explode, but I keep my cool & stand my ground.
"Our marriage was an accident. Let's just get a divorce & end it quickly." I cross my arms & say sternly.
"Really? It didn't sound like an accident when you screamed my name telling me to go faster that night." He raises his brows & my cheeks blush in an instant.
"I did not!" I hiss.
"Oh yeah you did, baby. Shall I remind you how good it feels? Maybe then, you won't hesitate to break up with Jin hyung." He glides his forefinger on my cheek, sending shiver down my spine.
"Stop it!" I slap his hand away & glare at him.
"Y/n ah, what took you so long?" Jin's sudden appearance startles me.
"I- I was-" I immediately turn my face away from Jungkook & nervously fix my hair.
"Hyung, thanks for the wine." Jungkook's expression switches to innocent in an instant as he turns to Jin.
"You're welcome. It's a 1949 Domaine, only 700 bottles are made annually. Don't get drunk on it." Jin says as he casually throws an arm over Jungkook's shoulders.
"Of course I won't. Gosh, where are my manners? Nuna, please come in. There are drinks & foods on the deck outside. Please make yourself at home." Jungkook smiles at me saccharinely.
"Nuna? Are you guys that close already?" Jin looks back & forth between me & Jungkook.
What the fuck Jeon Jungkook?
"No!" "Yes!" Jungkook & I say almost at the same time.
I shoot him a side glance & grit my teeth to control my desire to slap him.
"I mean, you guys are getting married soon. As your best man, I should try to be closer to her, shouldn't I? You don't mind if I call you nuna, right Y/n ssi?" Jungkook focuses his gaze on me, so does Jin.
"I-I guess it's ok." I try to sound as calm as possible.
"That's great. I'm glad you guys are getting along." Jin laughs as he playfully punches Jungkook's arm, seemingly oblivious to my tense posture & speech.
"Well, ok then. Now, let's go have some drinks, shall we?" Jungkook drags Jin away to the deck & winks at me.
"Talk to you later. Wife." He mouths.
I bite my lip to stifle a frustrated scream that's about to escape my throat & follows them reluctantly to the deck.
