Chapter 28 - The Italian
Joshua's POV
"Yeah," I mumbled and looked at Celeste anxiously.
"You again," Becca commented as she turned her gaze to Celeste. "Don't tire my boyfriend. You two should work less," she added, giving Celeste a fake smile.
Oh no!
Becca, please shut up before you push my tigress' buttons!
"I agree, it is too tiring. Maybe you have to warn your boyfriend," Celeste stated dryly and stormed out.
"What this bitch meant? What is going on between you two?" Rebecca asked angrily, folding her arms over her chest.
"Watch your language!" I warned her, clenching my face.
"You protect that bitch?! Did she seduce you?" she asked in disbelief.
I heaved a loud sigh and rubbed my forehead. This situation gave me a headache.
"She is my sister's friend," I informed her.
"Just it? I am sure your sister encouraged her to seduce you. Hazel hates me," she commented dryly.
"It will be better if we end things between us," I stated firmly, putting my hand into my pocket.
"What?! Is it because of that bitch?" she snapped in frustration.
"No, it isn't about Celeste. I am tired of this relationship."
"What? You haven't had any complaint before that bitch came. As soon as she appeared, you started getting tired of our relationship," she commented mockingly.
I heaved a loud sigh, bored. "It isn't because of Celeste. And stop calling her bitch. It's because of you. I am tired of your behavior. You always try to have a fight with me for little things to get expensive gifts. Moreover, do you think I didn't know that you waited after finishing your photoshoot till I cleared my reputation and got my CEO position back," I stated knowingly.
"Are you calling me a gold digger?!" Rebecca asked angrily.
"No, but you act like one."
"Jerk!" she exclaimed furiously and slapped me against my cheek.
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist, trying to control myself. "Pack your things and leave the penthouse I rented for you. Or find another idiot to pay your rent," I stated firmly.
"What?! You have to be kidding me? Don't lie. It is because of that bitch. Do you sleep with her?" she asked fumingly.
"Have many times should I repeat that it isn't about Celeste? I didn't change. I just gave you some time, hoping you would stop thinking about just money and reputation, but you didn't change. And I don't have any intentions to bear your caprices anymore."
"You will regret it. You will beg me to forgive you, Joshua," she threatened me, poking her finger at my chest.
"I don't think so, Rebecca. It is over," I stated, determined, putting my hands into my pockets.
She shot daggers at me and stormed out, slamming the door behind her. I breathed deeply in relief.

As soon as I walked into the jewelry shop, the shop assistant greeted me politely, giving me a warm smile.
"It's a pleasure to have you here, Mr. Sullivan. How may I assist you?" he asked me after leading me to a private section of the store.
"I'm looking for a bracelet for special someone," I replied, leaning back against the soft armchair.
"Do you have a particular style in mind?"
"Something special, elegant and... unique."
"We've exclusive pieces suitable for you, sir," he commented proudly and brought three velvet boxes.
As soon as he opened the last box, I was sure it was for Celeste. I could imagine it in her delicate waist.
"It has the elegance you're looking for and the rubies add a touch of uniqueness for this piece. Luminous diamonds and striking rubies are the perfect combination of timeless beauty," the shop assistant said politely.
"It's perfect. I'll buy it," I stated firmly.
"Excellent choice, sir."
After purchasing, I left the jewelry shop, excited and went to the company.

As soon as I arrived at the company, my assistant greeted me politely. I asked her to bring me a cup of tea and call Mark before going to my office.
After a while, someone knocked on the door and opened the door. Mark walked in, greeting me politely, and closed the door behind him.
"Did Rebecca move out?" I asked, closing the file in front of me, and leaned back against my seat.
"Yes, yesterday evening, sir."
"Good," I mumbled, relieved. I thought she wouldn't leave easily without causing a scandal.
"Drew keeps an eye on her social media accounts. There isn't any publication related to you," Mark informed me.
I nodded slightly, lost in my thoughts. "It's suspicious that she didn't post anything about it," I commented, rubbing my chin.
"Maybe she thinks you'll make up again, like in your previous breakups," Mark said, shrugging his shoulder nonchalantly.
"It's over for good this time," I stated, determined.
He nodded, trying to hide his happiness. Mark didn't like her too. Actually, no one from my circle liked her. It was just me who was blind to her greediness. Somehow, it suited me to shut her up with gifts, but after Celeste, Rebecca started to disgust me.
"I want to give Celeste a bracelet for helping me get cleared of charges," I informed him uneasily, rubbing the back of my neck.
"Fine, I'll buy for her. Do you want me buy another one for Robert?" Mark asked mischievously.
"Mark!" I exclaimed, trying to sound angry.
"No bracelet for Robert then."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Who was I trying to fool?! It was meaningless. Of course, Mark knew me like the back of his hand.
"Sapphire or diamonds?" Mark asked, trying to hide his amusement as much as possible.
"I bought it myself. Just deliver the gift to her apartment and make sure she gets it herself. I don't want anyone here to know about it," I stated firmly.
"I will, sir."
I nodded and picked up the paper gift bag from the floor.
"Inform me as soon as she takes it," I demanded, extending the gift bag to him.
"Alright, sir," he said politely, taking the paper bag, and left.
I grinned happily and leaned back against my seat. I was sure that Celeste would like the gift.

I was checking my wristwatch time to time, excited while sipping my whiskey at my penthouse. Mark should be on the way or he had already delivered the gift.
After forty minutes, Mark arrived, holding the paper bag.
I approached him, furrowing my eyebrows. "Wasn't she home?" I asked, confused.
"No, she was home," Mark replied uneasily.
"Didn't she like the gift?" I asked, upset.
"Well... She said she didn't want anything from you," he informed me, giving me a compassionate look, and extended the paper bag towards me.
"Oh..." I mumbled, taking the bag. "Fine. You may leave, Mark."
I heaved a loud sigh and put the paper bag on the table as Mark left. I didn't know how to feel: angry or proud of her.
"You are something else, Mrs. Sullivan," I mumbled under my breath and shook my head, grinning.
Celeste's POV
I frowned, placing my cup on the coffee table, and stood up as the doorbell buzzed.
"Who is it?" I mumbled, walking towards the door.
My eyes widened in surprise as I opened the door and saw Mark.
"Mark? Is Joshua okay?" I asked, worriedly.
"Yes, he is. Don't worry," he said softly, giving me a reassuring smile. "Mr. Sullivan sent you this," he added, extending the paper work towards me.
I took the bag, puzzled and looked inside. There was a velvet box in the paper bag. I opened it and saw a very beautiful bracelet adorned with diamonds and rubies.
Suddenly, I remembered what Hazel told me about how Joshua bought Rebecca expensive gifts after their fights.
Idiot!
Do you think I'm like your gold digging girlfriend?!
How dare you sent me a shut-up gift!
I gritted my teeth angrily and snapped the box shut. Then, I threw the velvet box back into the bag and extended it towards Mark. Meanwhile, he stared at me in confusion.
"I don't want anything from Joshua Sullivan," I stated firmly.
Mark took the paper bag, surprised. "Umm... but..."
"See you in the company, Mark."
He gave me a polite smile and nodded. "Good night, Ms. Marshall."
As soon as I closed the door, I exclaimed furiously, "Joshua, you are a real idiot! How can you think that you can buy me with diamonds like your bimbo?! I hate you, Joshua Sullivan!"
I decided to pour myself a glass of wine, then changed my mind. Wine couldn't calm me down, I needed something strong.
I went to my bedroom and changed my clothes. After applying makeup and brushing my hair, I grabbed my clutch and went to the nightclub.
As soon as I arrived at the nightclub, I went directly to the bar counter and ordered a glass of vodka. After finishing it in a sip, I ordered another, still angry at my idiot husband.
"Can I buy you a drink, dolcezza?"
I clenched my jaw in frustration as I heard a seductive voice coming from behind.
Another idiot!
Can't I have a drink without anyone disturbing me?!
I turned around angrily to give the man a piece of my mind, but I didn't finish my sentence as I saw who he was.
He gave me his signature smirk, looking pleased with himself.
"Massimo!" I exclaimed happily and threw myself into his arms.
