Chapter 25 - The Dark Ghost

Joshua's POV

I smiled happily as I opened my eyes and saw Celeste sleeping in my arms peacefully. I caressed her hair gently and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, breathing in her scent.

She yawned, rubbing her eye before opening her eyes. When she saw me staring at her, she gave me a bright smile.

"Good morning, babe," I said seductively and kissed her lips passionately, pulling her lower lip between my teeth.

I moved my lips from her lips to her neck, placing butterfly kisses while roaming her body.

"Joshua..." she mumbled, arching her back.

"I can't get enough of you, babe," I confessed, kissing her neck, and squeezed her breast, making her moan.

"I want you too," she admitted softly, running her hands through my hair.

I loved when she caressed my hair. It gave me peace. Actually, I was addicted to her every touch. Sometimes I thought I was bewitched by this beauty. I was a puppet in her hands, but she had no idea of it.

I breathed in her scent as my lips reached her chest. I wanted to worship every inch of her body. Suddenly, my phone rang, but I ignored it, continuing to kiss and caress my woman.

"Joshua... your phone..." she mumbled between her moans while I was sucking her nipple.

"I don't care," I replied and bit her nipple, making her moan louder.

"Maybe it is important," she added breathing heavily as my phone kept ringing.

I cursed under my breath angrily as I pulled back and grabbed my phone.

"Yes," I said in annoyance as I picked up the phone without checking who was calling.

"The police is looking for you," Mark informed me in panic.

"What?! Why?" I asked, puzzled as I pulled the cover away and got up. I ruffled my hair while pacing back and forth.

"They found a new evidence. I informed your lawyer. He is going to the police station. He asked me to tell you that it would be better if you go there yourself before police comes to take you," he added, full of worry in his voice.

I looked at Celeste who looked at me worried while sitting on the bed, holding the cover against her chest.

I heaved a loud sigh and stated firmly, "Fine, pick me up."

"I am downstairs."

"Fine, I am coming," I mumbled and hang up the phone, cursing angrily.

"What happened, Joshua?" Celeste asked worriedly as she got up, wrapping the cover around her body, and approached me.

"I have to leave. The police found a new evidence. So they are looking for me," I replied while thinking what the evidence could be.

"What? How?" she asked, puzzled.

"I have no idea." I sighed and added before picking up my clothes, "I will call you."

"I am coming with you," she stated firmly as she went to her walk-in closet and came back in a few minutes, holding a black dress in her hand.

"You don't need to come with me. Robert is there," I informed her.

"I would go crazy if I stay here and wait without doing anything," she commented, worried. "I won't let you go alone."

I gave her a grateful smile as I approached her and cupped her cheeks.

"Thank you, babe," I said gently and placed a tender kiss on her lips.

"Everything will be fine," she tried to assure me, cupping my cheek.

I gave her slight smile. "My lucky charm is with me. I don't doubt it."

She smiled affectionately and hugged me. I hugged her back, breathing in her scent. I didn't know if I could hold her in my arms like this again anytime soon.

As Celeste and I left the apartment, Mark greeted us politely and opened the door for us. After getting in the car, Mark started the engine, and we went to the police station.

Celeste was nibbling her lower lip nervously while looking through the window. I rested my hand on his thigh, getting her attention. She blushed, anxiously checking Mark, and tried to pull his leg away, but I squeezed it without letting her pull away and leaned towards her ear.

"Relax. He knows I spent the night with you alone. Of course, he guessed we weren't discussing contracts all night," I whispered in her ear cockily, caressing her thigh.

"Joshua!" she exclaimed in a low tone, flushing. I grinned, amused and entwined our hands on her thigh. She heaved a sigh, trying to hide her smile, and squeezed my hand, relaxing slightly. "What evidence could they find?" she asked, concerned.

"I have no idea," I replied and sighed, rubbing my forehead. The dark ghost after me started getting on my nerves more and more every day.

Celeste squeezed my hand, giving me a reassuring smile. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer to me, and planted a tender kiss on her hair, breathing in her scent. I needed to feel her close to calm down. She placed her hand on my chest, leaning her head on my shoulder.

When we walked into the police station, Robert approached us and greeted politely with a concerned expression on his face. From his expression I could guessed that there was nothing good.

"What happened?" I asked, trying to hide my annoyance.

Robert rubbed his chin, hesitating to talk. I raised my eyenbrow, giving him a questioning look.

He heaved a loud sigh and replied, "They are going to take legal actions towards the company."

"Damn it!" I exclaimed angrily, clenching my fist.

"And..." Robert mumbled uneasily.

"And?" I asked, puzzled.

"There is a new evidence... to suggest that the company CEO's inactions directly caused harm to the worker. So the police are going to arrest you for neglect of safety protocols in a construction site."

"What?!" Celeste exclaimed in shock, covering her mouth with her hand, and looked at me in fear.

"You've to be kidding me, Robert!" I commented between gritted teeth while anger was boiling inside me.

"Unfortunately not." He gave me an apologetic look. "I informed Mr. Sullivan about it. And I am trying to do everything to prevent the arrest, but... I don't think there is anything more to do. I am waiting for Detective Scott to accept me. There is someone else in his office," he resumed, concerned.

Once Robert went to see the Detective, I gave Celeste an affectionate look, caressing her cheek tenderly while she looked at me sadly. She averted her gaze as a drop of tear rolled down her cheek.

"Come here, babe. Don't worry. Everything will be fine," I said gently, wrapping my arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer to me.

"Sorry. It should be me to reassure you, not you," she murmured apologetically, tears running down her cheeks.

I embraced her in my arms, caressing her hair. She grabbed my jacket lapel tightly, burying her face into my chest.

"Hey, don't cry, wifey. Your husband won't go in jail. We will find a way. I promised not to ruin your reputation," I said cockily and planted a soft kiss on her hair before pulling back. She gave me a sad smile. I cupped her cheeks and wiped her tears off her cheeks with my thumbs. "Be careful! Don't leave your apartment without a bodyguard. I will ask Mark to increase the securities."

"No..." I placed my finger on her lips, silencing her.

"It isn't up for discussion, wifey. I want to be sure that you are in safe till I am out," I stated firmly, caressing her cheek. She sighed, nodding.

Celeste pulled back quickly, looking behind me. When I turned around, I saw my father and Mark walking in.

"What are you doing here?" my father asked me, amused.

Celeste and I exchanged a puzzled look. I turned my gaze to my father and replied, confused, "Robert called me. The police found some evidence to arrest me."

"Oh really?!" my father said, grinning, resting his hands in his pockets.

I frowned. "Dad, are you high?" I asked mockingly, trying to hide my irritation.

"No one can arrest my son. We found those bastards. So don't think that you'll put all the weights of the company on my shoulders. I need my CEO in the company," he said arrogantly.

"Is it true?" I asked, smiling ear-to-ear.

"Yes. What have you thought?! Did you think I will let anyone mess up with my son?" my father replied cockily. I gave him a grateful smile and hugged him happily. He hugged me back, tapping on my back.
