"did you hear that?" tyler asked as he scooted closer to his husband on the couch.

"hear what?"

"that banging," tyler said. "it sounded like it was coming from the dining room."

"i think you're just hearing things, baby," josh said.

but as soon as those words left his mouth, a loud bang sounded.

tyler immediately started to worry, crawling into josh's lap and hugging him tightly.

"it's ok, baby. it's probably just the wind," josh said.

"the wind doesn't bang, joshua!"

"but we do," joshua grinned.

"shut up and come with me to look."

josh sighed and walked with his nervous husband to the dining room, the banging getting louder and louder.

CRASH!

tyler jumped and immediately ran back to the living room, joshua chasing after him.

"shhh, baby. it's ok. i'm gonna go check, ok?" he said, running his fingers through his husband's hair.

tyler got up and returned to his husband's side, following him to the dining room, hearing yet another crash.

this time, it sounded like a window shattered.

somebody was breaking in.

josh quickly grabbed tyler and picked him up, running upstairs and putting him in their room.

"i'll be right back. do not move," he said sternly, grabbing his old baseball bat.

he then quietly crept down the stairs, hearing a series of loud noises now coming from the kitchen.

he opened the swinging door, starting to swing the bat but quickly stopping as he saw ollie sitting on the floor with a pot on his head, banging away at others with wooden spoons.

"oh my god, oliver," josh said, putting the bat down. "you just about scared tyty to death," he sighed, picking the boy up and carrying him upstairs.

he opened the door to his and tyler's room, handing the baby still wearing the pot on his head to his husband.

"found the intruder," he giggled.

tyler sighed out of relief, holding the grinning, drooling baby in his arms.

"goodness gracious, oliver. you gave me a heart attack," he said, hugging the boy tightly.

oliver just giggled and smacked away at the pot on his head, giggling at the noise.

definitely a great way to start the night.
