chapter 71: beauty.
tyler sat snuggled up against his husband on the couch, playing with his hand as they watched 'scream.'
and, of course, tyler got scared.
after all, he did hate scary movies.
but he knew joshua loved them, and he loved getting to be snuggled up with his husband as he comforted him, so it would happen fairly often.
the kids were in bed upstairs, they were both madly in love, all the dishes and laundry were done.
all was well in the joseph-dun home.
josh looked over at his husband, getting lost in his beauty as soon as he saw him.
tyler turned after a moment, only then noticing joshua's staring. he blushed and smiled shyly, playing with his own fingers.
he still didn't think he was beautiful.
joshua was still working towards his goal of his husband finally believing it.
"you're absolutely stunning, tyler," joshua said honestly. "the handsomest boy i have ever, ever laid eyes on."
tyler just nodded, finding it best not to argue. so he just laid his head on josh's shoulder, hugging his arm as he continued to watch.
"not to mention, you're the kindest, too. and you're the goofiest, nicest, most forgiving and honestly, the most perfect boy in the world," josh said, kissing tyler's hair.
tyler said nothing.
"you're beautiful inside and out."
tyler didn't doubt the first part, for he knew he was a very, very kind, loving person.
it was his body he hated.
"come with me," josh said, getting up and extending his hand to tyler.
tyler nodded, taking josh's hand and being led to the bathroom.
joshua stood behind him in front of the mirror, his arms around his husband's waist as he rested his chin on tyler's head since he was a bit taller.
"look in the mirror, baby," josh said. "not at me. at you."
yep.
tyler hated his body so much that his natural instinct when someone told him to look in the mirror was to look at the other person.
and that broke josh's heart.
"what do you not like from your chin up?" josh asked, still hugging his husband's waist.
"m-my nose," tyler said quietly. "i-it's too slanted."
"baby, i love your nose," josh said. "i love how even after fifteen years of kissing, we still haven't figured out which way to turn so our noses don't hit. your nose is beautiful, honey. just like the rest of you."
tyler said nothing, looking down at the floor.
"what do you not like about your torso?"
"i'm too skinny," tyler said. "a-and you have abs and all the muscle and then there's just me. the one that's too thin to ever look sexy."
josh sighed, running his hand gently up and down tyler's side. "first off, baby, you're not too skinny. that's just the way you're built. and i think it's absolutely fitting for your personality. kind and sweet. and second, you are sexy, baby. i promise, ok? you don't have to have a certain body type to be sexy. you just are!"
again, no response.
"what about your arms?"
"too thin."
"but they look so incredible with your tattoos," josh said. "what about your legs?"
"my thighs are pudgy," tyler said sadly. "they're gross."
"they aren't gross at all, baby," tyler said. "personally, i absolutely adore them. and they aren't pudgy, baby. just they aren't incredibly thin, which is ok. perfectly ok."
tyler just nodded and sighed, closing his eyes lightly.
"you're perfect, tyler. maybe not to you, but to me, you are," josh said, hugging his husband's waist tightly as he hugged him from behind, looking at them in the mirror together. "we make a cute couple, don't we?" he smiled.
tyler couldn't help but smile just a little bit, nodding his head.
and it's true.
they did make a very, very cute couple.
