chapter 31: no screens, all smiles.
tonight, the boys decided to try something different. they'd shut off their phones and their laptops, turn off the tv's in their home and have only one another.
absolutely no distractions.
"b-but what if someone from your work calls?" tyler asked.
josh smiled and shrugged. "they can wait."
the joseph-dun's decided to kick off the night with a romantic bath together. they placed candles around the edge of the tub and sprinkled rose petals into the water.
josh got in first, extending his hand out for his husband to grab onto so he wouldn't slip when he was getting in. they both then sat down in the tub, their legs entangled as tyler twisted the wedding ring on josh's finger.
"isn't it crazy that if i hadn't crashed into your car, we would have never, ever gotten to meet each other?" josh said.
tyler nodded in agreement.
"i mean, i don't think i would've gotten married at all. i always said i wanted to die before i got old, but now, i can't imagine not getting to spend my life with the most amazing boy in the world," josh smiled.
tyler smiled and blushed. "i probably would have gotten married, just i wouldn't be happy. because absolutely no person in this world understands me like you do, joshua william."
"well, i think it's because i love you so much, and i've been there before. but mostly because i love you," josh grinned.
tyler giggled and kissed his husband's nose. "i love you too, jishwa."
"what do you think about us having kids? i mean, i know we wanna wait a while, but it's good to know."
tyler shrugged. "i mean, i don't know. i-i can't decide if i want twins or not."
josh smiled widely. "twins would be fun."
"but i'm not sure if we want to start out with two kids. i think just one would probably be best," tyler said.
josh nodded in agreement. "we should get a baby. like one that's only like a year old."
tyler smiled and nodded. "boy or girl?"
"boy," they both said in unison, making them giggle.
"what're some names you like?" tyler asked.
"i've always liked finley for some reason. but i like ford and graham and gray a lot."
tyler smiled and nodded. "those are all so cute."
"what about you? what names do you like?"
"um... i really like oliver. but i like the ones you said a lot too."
josh grinned. "oliver finley joseph-dun. sounds like a cute name if you ask me."
tyler giggled and nodded in agreement.
"but, let's just focus on each other for tonight and how absolutely gorgeous my husband is," josh smiled.
tyler giggled and blushed. "stooooop."
"nope. never," josh grinned.
the boys got out of the tub after a little while, putting on clothes and going to the couch where tyler laid down on his back and josh held himself over him with his forearms.
they took turns saying things they loved about the other for a solid thirty minutes, eventually losing patience and kissing sweetly.
not sexually, sweetly.
they then just lied on the couch, holding one another tightly and sharing a kiss once in a while.
"we should do this more often," tyler said. he enjoyed the quietness of only him and his husband. no tv, no music, just two happy, in-love boys.
josh smiled and nodded in agreement. "what about one night a week we do this? absolutely nothing else but you and me the entire night."
tyler grinned widely and nodded. "sounds perfect."
and so they did just that. every week, they'd dedicate one night to being only with each other. and they didn't have sex on those nights, to both their surprises. instead they just talked and held one another.
and honestly, they loved it.
almost as much as they loved each other.
