tyler was rocking back and forth on the bed nervously. today was the first time he'd be without his husband by his side all day.

joshua had gotten a major promotion. he was CEO of a big company, and tyler was very happy for him. they were about to have an income equal to three people working. they could finally move out of their apartment and into a house. they could finally take vacations when they pleased. and they were finally eligible to adopt a child.

though they agreed to wait a few years to adopt so they could just enjoy one another.

"hey, baby, you'll be ok," josh said, kissing the top of his husband's head as he tied his tie. "it's only eight hours. i'll call you during lunch, ok? you'll be all i think about, i promise you that."

tyler took a shaky breath and nodded, reaching up and hugging his husband tightly, sniffling.

"awww, baby, please don't cry. you'll be alright," josh said, his heart breaking that his husband was so nervous about being without him.

josh pulled away, gently holding his husband's face and looking into his eyes. "look at me, baby. you're going to be perfectly fine. go do something to distract you, ok?"

tyler nodded. "i-i'll go grocery shopping."

josh smiled and nodded. "perfect. i'll miss not getting to go with you and push you around in the cart, though."

tyler couldn't help but giggle, the adorable laugh melting josh's heart.

"i love you, baby. we can snuggle as soon as i come home," josh promised.

tyler grinned and nodded, falling back onto the bed and pulling josh on top of him. josh giggled and kissed his husband's lips as he held himself over him with his elbows, tyler's legs wrapped around his waist.

"you're the cutest stay-at-home husband out there," josh grinned.

tyler blushed and smiled shyly. "you're the cutest husband in general."

"nooo. i don't wanna argue with you before i go to work, handsome," josh grinned, kissing his husband's forehead. "i love you, baby. i gotta go so i won't be late."

tyler's smile fell and he nodded sadly. "o-ok. i-i love you too."

josh smiled sadly, honestly nervous himself about not having his husband with him, but he couldn't show that to tyler.

"i'll see you around 6, ok?"

"o-ok. b-bye."

"bye, baby. i like the tie you picked out," josh smiled, his husband having insisted he was the one to pick out which tie he wore. tyler selected a pastel pink one, it complimenting his husband's hair beautifully.

tyler blushed and smiled shyly, getting up and running to his husband and hugging him tightly from behind.

josh smiled and turned around, hugging tyler back tightly. "love you, tyjo."

"i told you you can't call me that! i'm tyler dun now!"

josh giggled and rolled his eyes playfully. "ohhh, fine. i love you, tyjo-dun."

tyler grinned and hugged his husband tighter. "love you too, joshua."

josh then headed to work, turning up his music as loud as possible in the car so he couldn't be saddened by the though of leaving his husband alone.

and so tyler got dressed, doing the same with his music for the same reason, going downstairs to his car and driving to target.

he got all josh's favorite foods as well as his own, purchasing everything and checking out with the same cashier that checked the couple out when they were engaged.

"hey! where's your fiancé?" she asked with a smile, beginning to scan the items.

"oh, h-he's at work. CEO of some company. today's his first day and i want to do something special for when he gets home. but... um... w-we're husbands now," he smiled with a shy grin.

"oh, goodness! that's wonderful! how's the married life?"

"it's pretty perfect with him, being honest," tyler smiled.

"i'm sure it is. well, just know he loves you a lot. i saw him that day he bought a dozen roses for you. he couldn't stop talking about how perfect you are to him."

tyler blushed and smiled shyly. "r-really?"

"oh, honey, yes! he's madly in love with you. i could see it in his eyes as he talked about you."

tyler smiled widely. "well i love him too. a lot."

"what're you thinking you're gonna do for him tonight?"

"i'm not sure yet. do you have any ideas?"

"hm... what's something you do that he really likes?"

"hugging him."

the lady smiled widely. "you're too cute. i meant like, you know, something that might lead to the bedroom."

"hugs," tyler said innocently.

the lady laughed and shrugged. "alright, well, what if you hug him but while you're wearing something special?"

"i haven't worn the pair of socks he got me for christmas last year. those would be special, i guess."

the lady just laughed and sighed. "sounds like a plan. hug him in your socks, tyler."

tyler grinned and nodded, hugging her goodbye as usual before heading back out to the car and loading up the groceries.

he then got a call around 1 pm.

"josh!!"

"hey, baby! how are you?"

"just kinda bored without you but good. how's work?"

"it's actually going really well. everyone's quite nice."

"awww, yay. that's good."

"did you go grocery shopping?"

"mhm."

"did you get the re-"

"red bull? yes, joshua. i got your red bull."

josh smiled widely. "i love you, baby."

tyler smiled as well, just the sound of his husband's voice making him blush. "i love you too, jishwa."

"i can't wait to see you," josh sighed.

"i have a surprise planned for when you get home!"

"oh, what is it?"

"it's a surprise, joshua!"

"can i have a hint??" josh begged.

"i'll be wearing something special," tyler grinned.

josh shifted in his desk chair. "mmm... can't wait, baby. i'm sure you'll look so gorgeous."

tyler smiled and blushed. "that's the plan."

"i'll see you then, yeah?"

"ok. i'll be waiting, joshua."

"can't wait, baby. love you."

"love you too," tyler grinned.

and so they hung up the phone, the day only seeming longer as he daydreamed about what his husband could be wearing when he arrived home.

and of course, he wasn't expecting what he saw.

"baby! i'm home!" josh called with a wide grin, fully prepared to go straight to the bedroom to show his husband just how much he loved him physically.

tyler giggled and ran down the stairs in...

basketball shorts and a t-shirt. a pair of white nike crew socks on his feet.

tyler ran up to his husband with a wide smile, hugging joshua tightly.

josh was more than a little confused. it must be on underneath the shorts.

"joshua!" he yelled happily, kissing all over his face.

josh smiled and hugged his husband's waist tightly. "hi, baby. i missed you so much."

"i missed you too!" tyler exclaimed, kissing his lips with a wide grin.

and so they made dinner together after josh changed into something a bit more comfortable, the couple touching as much as they could.

after they ate, they headed upstairs. josh grinned widely.

this was the big reveal.

they always slept in just their boxers, so josh stripped down to his, biting his lip as he watched tyler pull of his shorts.

to reveal he was in just normal boxers.

"did you like my special outfit??" tyler grinned as he ran into his husband's arms.

josh smiled confusedly. "u-um... yeah! of course! just um... just what was so special about it?"

"they're the socks you got me for christmas!"

josh couldn't help but laugh, hugging tyler tightly.

oh, how he loved his husband.

"you're so adorable, tyler," josh giggled.

"what's so funny?!"

"just... i wasn't thinking that it would be socks, but i can't say i'm surprised," josh laughed.

tyler furrowed his eyebrows. "well what did you think it would be?"

josh blushed deeply and shrugged. "maybe uh... maybe some new underwear."

"ohhh. well i have a new pack of boxers in the closet. lemme go get them," tyler said, turning around.

josh laughed and grabbed his husband's arm. "no, baby. it's the cutest thing ever. let's just snuggle, ok?"

tyler grinned and nodded. "ok."
