Ron should have hated it that he was sore and had to limp to get around but he loved it. He had woken up early to prepare breakfast for his mate and he was almost done but Charles had not yet made his way down. He could here him moving around upstairs but he didn't know what was taking him long to come down.

Just as he finished setting the food on the table, Charles arrived in the kitchen and took a seat. Ron looked questioningly at him since he wasn't dressed as if he was going to work.

"What?" Charles asked after noticing the look of his mate.

"Are you not going to work today?"

"Yes, I'm staying with you. I called the boss that I'll come sometime in the afternoon." Charles replied while filling up his plate with the goodies prepared by his mate.

Ron chuckled when he heard what his mate said. He knew Charles wanted to come along when going to the hospital because Tony would be there and Charles thought of him as a threat. To Ron, it didn't matter what reason Charles was staying for, it just was an added bonus to spend time with his mate.

They silently ate breakfast and when they were done, Charles offered to clean the plates while Ron took a bath. However, Ron's bath time was interrupted as a horny Charles crashed the moment and proceeded to fuck his mate along the bathroom walls and floor. By the time they were done, Ron couldn't even walk on his own and Charles washed him clean of his semen and carried him to the bed. He continued to dry his mate and dressed him up since they had to leave for the hospital to see Maria.

"Can you please call Tony and let him know we will be coming." Ron called out to his mate who was in the closet.

"Okay." Charles replied.

Ron was tired and even though he tried not to, he found himself sleeping before Charles even exited the closet.

Now that him and Ron were completely mated, nothing could come in there way but Charles was still alert when Tony was involved. He didn't like the man from day one and no matter how much assurance he got from his mate, he just couldn't be at ease with the detective.

Upon exiting the closet, Charles noticed that Ron was fast asleep which brought a smile on his face. He didn't expect to complete the mating yesterday but he was glad that was taken care of and that they were now taking their relationship to another level. By now, Charles was used to doing unexpected things since it seemed for such to happen to them a lot.

Charles took a seat beside the sleeping form of his mate and raised the T-shirt Ron was wearing. Seeing the mate tattoo of his wolf on Ron's back brought a shiver of excitement in his body. He wished to wake his mate up and take him from behind in order to get a good look of the tattoo on Ron's back. Sighing, Charles covered Ron up and carried him off the bed, down the stairs, out the house to the car. Ron needed a short break before he mounts him again and being away from the bed helped to ease Charles desires.

After buckling him up, Charles pulled away from his driveway and drove to the hospital. He drove slowly in order to give his mate some more time to rest before waking him up at the hospital. Ron wouldn't like to be carried inside the hospital which was why Charles had to wake him up when they reached the hospital.

Thoughts of going back home swirled around in Charles's mind while listening to 'I won't give up' by Jason Mraz as he drove. Unlike him, Ron had a pack that needed his presence since he was the beta. Now that they were mated, they needed to go back home and start a new life there with Ron. Charles remembered he had yet to show Ron to his family. He knew they would like him just as much as Roman liked him because Roman was a good judge of character. Charles then decided to bring up the issue of his leave to Sanjay when he goes to work later in the afternoon.

After finding a parking space, Charles pulled up and parked his car in the hospital's parking lot. Turning off his car, he was about to jump out to go to Ron's side so that he could open the door for him and woke him up, when Charles saw a familiar car pull up beside him. Tony came out of the familiar car and Charles was out his car without a second thought, approaching Tony's car.

"Hey Charles. I didn't expect to see you here." Tony greeted when he saw Charles and he couldn't help it but look behind Charles, for Ron.

"My boyfriend is sleeping in the car." Charles said when he saw Tony looking behind him for what he guessed to be his mate. He made sure Tony got the word 'boyfriend' clearly. "Look, Tony, I'm gonna be blunt here and tell you what's on my mind." Charles paused.

Tony became guarded when he heard the menace in Charles's voice. He didn't miss the scanning look that Charles gave him as if sizing him up if he was a wealthy opponent. He nodded stiffly for Charles to go on even though he dreaded what was to come.

"Knowing that the chances of you hooking up with my boyfriend are none, it should have made me feel at ease with you but no. I just don't like it knowing there is someone thinking of my boyfriend in that way. So I'm telling you here and now, to stop any advances towards my boyfriend if you know what's good for you. He has me to love, care and protect him, so back off."

Every word that was said, Charles took a step forward and Tony backward until he collided with his car restricting his movements. Charles was snarling right in his face which caused the other male tremble slightly. It wasn't just the snarling but the intimidating aura of Charles dominant wolf, that made Tony tremble.

"Chill man! Okay, I got it. I'll back off." Tony exclaimed.

"Good. But if you do otherwise, I'll make sure my fist tell you in a way you would understand and keep your word."

"No need, man. I really got it."

Charles nodded and turn around, back to the car and his still sleeping mate. If Ron could have been awake, he wouldn't have allowed Charles to do what he just did. With a smile, Charles opened the door on the passenger side and kissed his sleeping mate's lips. It took a little while but with a groan, Ron woke up and after realizing what was happening to his lips, he kissed Charles back.

"We are at the hospital." Charles told his mate after parting their lips. Ron chuckled when he heard that, knowing he had slept quite some time and missed the ride to the hospital. With the help of Charles, since he was still groggy from the sleep and sex exhaustion. Ron was new to taking it up the butt that's why he was exhausted so much at the experience.

The soulmates walked hand in hand to the hospital building. They knew where Maria was, so they didn't waste anytime but went straight there. Tony was already inside Maria's room when they arrived. Ron greeted both Maria and Tony, whereby the latter gave out a shaking reply. Ron noticed how off Tony was but decided to just pass it by as he jumped in a conversation with Maria.

The doctor came by and announced that Maria was good to go. Her leave documents were signed by Tony and Ron. The adults decided to take Maria out for lunch, where they would tell the little girl about her living arrangements. Ron decided they took the same car but Tony refused as he gave out an excuse and said he would follow Charles's car to the restaurant of choice. Maria went with the soulmates as Tony came by in his car behind them.

"Tony is acting very strange. I can't put my finger on it." Ron complained to his mate during the drive. Charles only grunted but didn't give out any vocal response. He was thankful when Maria started one of her stories to which Ron listened in and laughed with the child.

They arrived at the restaurant chosen by Tony since he was the one who knew most of what was the best to go to. They found a table by the windows and a waiter stopped by to get their drink orders. The sitting arrangement didn't help Tony's fidgetiness since he sat opposite Charles and beside Maria who was opposite Ron. This act was once again noticed by Ron but he kept shut about it and conversed with Maria. Their drinks came and they ordered their meal. Everything went well, despite Tony's nerves making him spill his drink and almost ruin the lunch time, to the point were it was time to talk to Maria.

"What's an orphanage?" Maria asked when Ron explained that she would be staying at one.

"It's, uh, a home for children whom don't have a mum and dad." Ron replied since the other males left the explaining to him.

"Oh." Maria knew that her parents passed away which was why she looked dejected. "Will you and Uncle Charlie visit me? Uncle Tony can come too, right?" The child looked at the elders with hope and Ron nodded while Tony gave a 'I will' response which made her smile and agree to go to the 'orphanage'.

Maria's social worker met them outside the restaurant and together they went to the orphanage. Ron was told this was the best orphanage in the town, so he was assured of Maria's wellbeing even if she would stay in the orphanage. When they reached the place, Ron agreed that this was the best home they could offer Maria. Unfortunately, when they reached the office, the house matron said they had no space to take Maria in. It didn't matter how much they tried to talk the Matron into taking her in, she refused. Apparently, she had the power to say yes or no and it was our unluckiness that we got the latter as a final answer.

From there, they visited three more orphanages that said they were out of space. At least they were nice enough to show them around, unlike the first orphanage, and they understood that they were indeed full. It was a pity at how these orphanages were full meaning there were children out there with no parents or relatives or anyone to adopt them and take them in. Ron couldn't help it but think of how Maria will be one of those many children.

The last orphanage they visited, Ron didn't like it. The house looked as if it would fall apart anytime soon. The environment looked untidy and unfit for children living place. When they were invited inside, Ron had to cover his nose from the smell present. It didn't help at all when they agreed to have a spot for Maria. Ron requested to see the sleeping area, were she would be sleeping.

"No, no, no. I'm not leaving her here." Ron declared while he stormed out of the house.

"But there isn't any place available for her. This is the only place." Diane, Maria's social worker said.

"I don't care!" Ron walked away and he was thankful Diane didn't follow. Charles followed though, but his presence was welcomed. He embraced Ron, offering comfort and sooner he successfully calmed his mate down.

"Can we keep her for a while? Just until the first orphanage gets a spot for her. Please, let's not leave her here. You saw the place, you have to agree with me here. Please, I-"

Charles kissed him to shut his mate up. If he had let him, Ron would have kept on rumbling about it.

"Anything for you, shorty. I'd love to have Maria if it meant saving her from this place. I feel sorry for the kids currently living here though." Charles murmured​.

"Yes. I feel sorry for them too." Ron agreed.

They walked back to Diane and Tony, and told them about their hasty decision. Diane agreed to it when Tony helped convincing her into accepting the proposition. She promised to visit Ron and Charles in three days time to check on Maria. They transferred Maria's clothes that were in Tony's car to Charles's car. Tony left in his car just as Diane drove away. Charles drove the two excited individuals in his car back to his house. There wasn't much room for Maria but Ron said he would make it work and he trusted him.

Charles dropped Ron and Maria at home before driving away to his work place. He made a stop by a certain shop to get something that had been running through his mind all day when he looked at his mate. To wolves, they knew to back off from Ron since he was mated to Charles but to humans​, like Tony, they needed some things to know they had to stay away and that's exactly what Charles bought for Ron before proceeding to his workplace.
