--=Jack's + POV =--

Eyes fluttering open, I felt my heart sink as I turned my head to see the machines slowly keeping my pulse, wires attached to my wrists and other sections of my body. A groan escaping my lips, my head sank back down on the pillow staring at the ceiling, only being distracted by a gentle glow coming from my phone receiving a notification. 

Raising my arm away from my body, I grabbed the phone and brought it up to my face. Squinting from the light, I turned away letting my eyes readjust before continuing to try to read the notification. Noticing a few spam messages, as well as some notifications for Pinterest and Tumblr, my eyes caught onto one sent by an unknown identification. 

My fingers tapping on the screen, I quickly unlocked the phone bringing it to the one sided conversation so far;

???: 'Hey Jack! Don't get afraid, it's me, Mark! :) Just checking up to tell you I made it home safely like I promised. I hope you're okay too!'

Shoulders dropping noticing it was only Mark, I felt a light tug pull at my heart. Listening to my fingers tapping softly against the screen, a smile rose to my face when rereading my message.

Jack; 'Hey! Thanks so much for telling me, honestly I was thinking you weren't going to. How's your dog?'

Mark: 'She's doing better now, gave her the medication she needed.'

Jack: 'I'm so happy!'

Mark: 'Yeah, me too. How are you?'

Jack: 'Doing as well as I can honestly, are you alright?'

Mark: 'Why wouldn't I be?'

Jack: 'Dunno, I was just asking cause I was worried about you.'

Mark: 'Oh! Well, I'm doing alright :). How's your bed?'

Jack: 'The hospital bed? It's... a bed XD'

Mark: 'Not too comfy is it?'

Jack: 'Not a single bit. Feels stiff as a brick.'

Mark: 'Well, is your family going to come and see you in the hospital? Or at the very least your friends?'

My heart clenching noticing that he wouldn't instantly know my life story just by looking at me, my hand dragged across my face as I tried to think of coming up with some kind of excuse. Staring at the clock in the hospital room, an idea popped into my head while I typed out an answer hoping he'd just dismiss it.

Jack: 'Nah.'

Mark: 'Nah?'

Of course, he wouldn't. An idea popping into my mind, which was a half-truth, I spammed my thumbs across the screen typing out an answer which was, believable enough to say the least.

Jack: 'They live far away, I'm here for college.'

Mark: 'Ohhh, sorry, I didn't know.'

Jack: 'No it's alright! It's not like you had any idea, you know?'

Mark: 'Yeah. Well, if no one's going to come see you want me to come visit again tomorrow to keep you company?'

Jack: 'Of course! But for now I think you should go to bed, I'll see you tomorrow then?'

Mark: 'Sounds like a plan, goodnight.'

Jack: 'Night.'

The conversation ending on that note, a smile settled on my face as I leaned back on my pillow and shut my eyes. I'm happy to have someone to finally talk to, with school taking up most of my time, or too busy doing homework or freelancing, I haven't had any time to socialize.

Not that there's really anyone to socialize with...

My heart sinking a small bit, I shook it off and stared up at the clock. Its tiny clicks of their hands bringing comforting noise into the room. Taking in the room for the hundredth time in the past couple of hours, my eyelids began to get heavier with every time I blinked.

No longer being able to keep them open, I let them shut and made myself comfortable.

I guess I'll see Mark tomorrow.

Hey guys!

Oh! My god, I just want to say I am so so SO sorry for the lack of updates, I've had some personal and professional things going on, but again that isn't really much of an excuse. School's been taking away all of my free time, but I'm finding a schedule, so I can squeeze in an update at least once a week like I originally planned to.

I have other things planned, but for now just sit tight with this update, I'll be making them more often I promise, so please don't get mad <3.

As for my profile itself, I'm going to be rearranging some things and making new covers, so if this one suddenly changes and you think it's all of a sudden a different book it isn't, it's merely a different cover XD.

Anyways, I wrote this when I should have been doing homework, but I just really really needed to update this for you guys because I've felt like a butt not updating it. It was great to update, but now I have to get back to work, I'll see you in around a week, I promise!
